什么是教育？

What is education?

要想知道教育是什么就要先了解什么是人？

Only you konw what is human can you understanding the sense of education.

有一次苏格拉底的学生问苏格拉底什么是人？

Onetimes the students of Socrates asked him whats is human?

回答：人是体表无毛发两腿直立行走的动物。他的学生抓来一直被扒光毛的鸡说老师这是您的同类么？在这里我们可以看到苏格拉底仅仅只是对人的生物特性做出了一个描述。Socrates said”human is aanimal that it have smoothly surface and walk to upright”,his students catch a Stripped of feathers chicken said”it is your companin,teather”

From this example we can see Socrates only described the Biological characteristic of hunman.

我认为人是有思想、知廉耻的生物。

In my vews,human is a animal with thoughts and sense of shame.

教育是什么？

So ,what is education?

首先，我们可以看到育字的甲骨文，这个字的上半部分像一个妇女在分娩，下半部分像一个倒立的人。因此，育字的本意就是妇女生子。

On the one hand ,we can see Inscriptions on bones or tortoise shells of the Shang Dynasty, Yu upper half like a women labor and lower half like a handstand human.that means the intension of yu is women labor.

从育的甲骨文字形可以看出，人刚生下来是倒立的，这表明人刚刚生下的时候还没有辨别事物的善恶之分的意识、能力。

From the shape of yu we can konw human just born is handstand ,that is indicate the newborn isn, t the ability of disgused good and evil .

从教字的甲骨文字形我们可以看出，它的右边是一只手拿着一根教鞭（攴）；左下方是一个“子”字，表示小孩，“子”上是两个交叉符号（爻），表示鞭打的痕迹；整个字形“教”是会意一个人手持教鞭在教育小孩。

From the shape of jiao we can know,its right is a hand holding a apointer and its left-lower is a hunman,in human above is the symbo of two fork ,mens mark with whip,compeletly jiao is mens someone using apointer educate a child.

说明教育是将倒立的人“转正”，即使人向善。因此教育就是让人知道什么是真善美，怎样成为一个真正的人。怎样使自己与动物区分开来。

Therefore education is making handstand hunman upright and pursuit good,education is making peopel clear what is Truth, goodness and beauty,making peopel know how to distinguish themselves from animal.

教育是“道德”的，教育从根本上属于一项道德事业，他使老师与学生都成为更还的人。Education is moral,fundamentally speaking,Education is a work for moral,it makes teachers and studends became beast man.

教育就是引导学生善待自己的生命，由己推人，善待一切生命。

Education is to guide students treat their lives, Consider others in themsevles,be kind of all life.

教育应当远离功利和实用，贯彻人文精神，教育的目的应该是培养健康善良的生命，活泼、智慧的头脑，丰富、高贵的灵魂，如果这样，我们的教育就成功了。
