Soccer players who change clubs must get used to new team cultures, languages and lifestyles.
But it didn't take long for Wu Lei to fit in when he moved from Shanghai SIPG to Spanish club Espanyol at the end of January.
On March 2,when the 27-year-old Chinese striker helped his team to a 3-1 win over Real Valladolid,Wu became the first player from an Asian country to score a goal in Spain's top league. And he also made the list of best line-up for La Liga(西甲)'s round of 26.
"I'm so proud to be the first Chinese player to score in La Liga," Wu told China Daily."I really want to thank my teammates for their support since the first day I arrived."
Spanish sport newspaper Marca noted that Wu has answered those who doubted his move to the club and that "his quick adaptation to La Liga has surprised many people."
In fact,Wu has been surprising people since the beginning of his career. He was a top student at primary school, and once won the title of merit student (三好学生)in Nanjing.Out of his passion for soccer,he decided to join soccer manager Xu Genbao's soccer training center in Shanghai at the age of 12.Although some teachers disagreed with his decision,Wu proved that he could keep up his studies,as well as his playing. At 14,Wu became China's youngest professional league player.Last season,Wu won the Chinese Super League's Top Scorer and Player of the Year awards.
Now a Chinese international,Wu is working hard to show that "there are players in China who can shine in the best leagues in the world",he told Global Times.
And given that he's already opened a new chapter for Chinese soccer in Europe, chances are that Wu has even more surprises in store for us.

A man in London has become the second known HIV-positive adult to be cleared of the virus that causes the disease AIDS.The man received a stem cell transplant three years ago.He was treated with anti-retroviral (抗逆转录病毒)drugs until about 18 months ago. Now,tests show he has no sign of the HIV virus in his blood.
"There is no virus there that we can measure. We can't detect anything," said Ravindra Gupta,a professor and HIV scientist who played a leading role in treating the man.The patient's name, nationality or age is not public. He is called "the London patient" because he was treated in the British capital.A similar identification was given to the first known person cleared of HIV infection over ten years ago,the "Berlin patient".Both men experienced a similar treatment.
But there was something unusual about the person who gave the London patient stem cells. The giver or donor had a natural resistance to HIV.In other words, something about this person's body made it impossible for him or her to become infected with the HIV virus. As a result, when the London patient received the stem cells, his immune system changed and he developed a natural resistance to HIV,too.
Ravindra Gupta notes that the donor's unusual resistance to HIV may not be the only reason the treatment cleared the London patient's infection. He notes that the Berlin patient and the London patient had similar side effects after the treatment. In both cases, the donors' stem cells immediately began to attack the patients' immune cells. This interaction may have helped destroy some of the HIV infection in the patients,Gupta says.
Experts who study AIDS say the success of the Berlin patient and the London patient is very important.Their experiences show that scientists will one day be able to end AIDS.But they also warn that a cure has not been found. The blood treatments the Berlin and London patients had have failed in other
patients. The treatments are also too dangerous, expensive and risky to do for the large number of people who already have the virus that causes AIDS.4. From the example of the two patients,we can learn that HIV virus ______ .
A. shows no sign in people' blood
B. is bound to lead to the disease AIDS
C. is mainly treated in the British capital
D. can be cleared with a stem cell transplant
5. What was special in the London patient case?______

C. He would not be infected with HIV again.
D. His treatment was the first case in the world.
6. Where does this text probably come from?______

D. A science fiction.
After moving to the United States, immigrant(移民)groups trying to fit in tend to choose high calorie fatty foods in an attempt to appear more American,a new study finds. That's one reason why immigrants approach US levels of obesity within 15 years of moving to America.
The researchers also did an experiment that measured whether or not the threat of appearing un-American influenced respondents' food choices. After being questioned about their ability to speak English,75 percent of
Asian-Americans identified a typical American food as their favorite.Only 25 percent of Asian-Americans who had not been asked if they spoke English did the same.
When their American identity was called into question during a follow-up
study,Asian-American participants also tended to choose typical American dishes, such as hamburgers and cheese sandwiches. In that experiment,55 Asian-Americans were asked to choose a meal from a local Asian or American restaurant. Those who chose the more typical American fare ended up consuming an extra 182 calories, including 12 grams of fat and 7 grams of saturated fat (饱和脂肪).
"People who feel like they need to prove they belong to a culture will change their habits in an attempt to fit in," said Sauna Cheryan,an author of the study and assistant professor of psychology at the University of Washington."If immigrants and their children choose unhealthy American foods over healthier traditional foods across their lives, this process of fitting in could lead to poorer health." Cheryan added.
Social pressures, the study concluded, are at the heart of the problem."In American society today, being American is associated with being white.Americans, who don't fit this image even if they were born here and speak English, feel that pressure to prove that they're American," said Cheryan.
7. The author wants to show that ______ .
A. most Americans are at the risk of heart disease
B. more and more Asians enjoy high-calorie snacks
C. immigrants tend to eat American junk food to fit in
D. all the American people have a bad eating habit
8. According to the survey,______ .
A. Asian-Americans care less about their health
B. 25 percent of Americans like junk food
C. immigrants are forced to eat junk food
D. choosing food is related to Asian-Americans' situation
9. The underlined word "fare" in Paragraph 3 most probably means " ______ ".
A. food offered as a meal
B. a person taking a taxi
C. money spent on food
D. an arranged thing to do
10. Which is the best title of the passage?______ .
