1.-able或-ible结尾的形容词做定语时

2.一些表示时间、地点的副词做定语时

The meeting yesterday was broken up by the sudden entrance of a mob.

The neighbours upstairs came to his rescue and drove him to the hospital.

The sentence below is so worded as to be misleading.

3.修饰some, any, no, every, something, nothing, anything等不定代词的定语Is there anything interesting on TV this evening?

今晚电视上有什么有趣的节目吗？

He wanted to get someone reliable to help him in the work.

他想找一个可靠的人帮忙做这项工作。

Everybody present was deeply moved.

在场的每个人都深受感动。

To design means to make the drawing of something new according to a plan.

4.英语中假若某个中心词既有前置定语，又有介词短语、分词短语或不定式短语作后置定语

The old professor in spectacles is the head of the English Department.

那个戴眼镜的老教授是英语系主任。

The OPEC countries have decided to impose a surcharge (附加费)on the oil price for the fourth quarter.

欧佩克成员国已决定对第四季度油价征收附加费。

5.英语中的定语从句，无论是限制性定语从句还是非限制性定语从句，一般均置于所修饰的中心词之后。译成汉语时，往往将较短的限制性定语从句译成前置定语，较长的限制性定语从句和非限制性定语从句则须视具体情况

Everything that is around us is matter.

It may call the attention of the Security Council to situations which are likely to endanger international peace and security.

6.英语状语的位置非常灵活。而按照汉语的表达习惯，状语往往前置。因此，英汉翻译时,经常需要将后置状语调整为前置状语。这种调整不仅是针对用作状语的单个副词或
