However, from a whole perspective, Pound delivers the main theme
and purpose of the poem and he creates the poem out of his own style. Maybe it is not good on the level of word translation, but it is still not deviated from the central meaning. Furthermore, considering different cultural background between Chinese and western people, a word for word equivalence does not mean that the translation can arouse the same response from the readers. Xu Yuanchong wins great fame especially in China, because he uses Chinese aesthetic feeling to translate the poem. However, for western people, it is a little bit awkward to read a poem from Chinese perspective. So even when translators fail to deliver equivalence between words, the equivalence of the whole poem‘s meaning should also be considered.
孤帆远影碧空尽，

His translation material was from a Japanese friend. So his translation has characteristics of Japanese culture, which is not equivalent with the original Chinese poem. Secondly, “烟花三月”is translated into smoke flowers. Readers may be confused by “ smoke flowers ” and March has totally disappeared from his translation. In Chinese,“烟花”means Willow catkins are flowing like smoke which describes a picture of spring. However, Pound failed to convey this meaning.

This is a farewell poem. When Meng Haoran was leaving for Yangzhou, Li Bai saw him off at the yellow crane tower.In this poem, Li Bai uses”烟花（三月）”，“孤帆远影”，“碧 空”and“长江天际流”images to show the background of seeing his friend off and express his feelings.
