名词性从句

含义:在句子中具有名词功能的从句;包括:

①主语从句②表语从句③宾语从句④同位语从句

1主语从句:

Which: Which bus we should take is still a question.

What: What I need is a good sleep.

Who: Who will chair the meeting is not known.

Whose: Whose works can win awards depends on a number of factors. How: How he finished the job himself is known to all.

When: When they can arrive is not known yet.

Where: Where we’ll spend our holiday has not been decided.

Why: Why he did that is a mystery.

That: That he got the first prize made his parents so happy.

Whether : Whether he can get the job is still unclear.

形式主语:

为了避免句子头重脚轻,失去平衡,通常将主语从句后置,原来主语的位置上用it作形式主语。

例:

(1)When man first made use of electricity remains unknown.

It remains unknown when man first made use of electricity.

(2)That he will be present at the meeting is quite certain.

It is quite certain that he will be present at the meeting.

(3)How he did excellent work is known to all.

It is known to all how he did excellent work.

固定句型:

(1)It +be+形容词+that从句

It’s strange that he left without saying anything.

(2)It +be+名词+that从句

It is a pity that I missed the film.

(3)It +动词(+宾语或状语)+that从句

It happened that nobody was at home then.

(4)It +be+过去分词+that从句

It is said that the bridge has existed for more than three centuries.

主语从句中的虚拟语气:

在表示愿望、命令、建议、要求等含义的动词、具有建议、命令的形容词后面的主语从句,谓语动词用虚拟语气“should+动词原形”,should可省略。

(1)It is suggested that every teacher (should) be familiar with computers.

(2)It is demanded that this parcel (should) be sent away right now.

(3)It is advisable that he (should) begin to study English in primary school 2表语从句:

Which: What I want to know is which road we should take.

What: His QQ number is what I want to know.

Who: The problem is who can do it.

Whose: The question is whose car is the most expensive.

How: The problem is how I can study English well.

When: The question is when they can get the tickets.

Where: That is where the traffic accident occurred.

Whether: His problem right now is whether he should ask for a loan. That : The trouble is that he has never done the work before.

As if: He looks as if he didn’t care about it.

3 宾语从句

Which: He wants to know which one is his.

What: I just cannot believe what he said in such a situation.

Who: We must find out who did all this.

Whose: I don’t know whose idea this is.

How: Would you tell me how I can get to the National Library?

When: I don’t know when he will arrive.

Where: She asked where she could find the nearest bank.

Why: Everyone wants to know why she did that.

Whether/If: I don’t know whether/if the banks are open.

That: The doctor told me that I had to cut out alcohol.

宾语从句的后置:

在带有复合宾语(宾语和宾语补足语)的句子中,当宾语是从句时,这个宾语必须移到句尾,用it作形式宾语。

一般句型:主语+谓语+宾语+宾语补足语;

宾语从句后置句型:主语+谓语+形式宾语it+宾语补足语+真实宾语(从句)

例:

(1)I find this book very useful.

I find it very useful that you read aloud when you study English.

(2)I think this plan practical.

I think it practical that you want to be a teacher.

(4)I feel it a pity that she can’t come.
