The Canadian Moose, Alces alces americanus, is the largest member of the deer family in North America, and is the largest
of all moose species. Males on average weigh between 500-1400 kg, while females tend to be a bit smaller. They are strong swimmers and can sometimes be seen in small lakes or streams. Canadian Moose eat a variety of plants, such as grasses, twigs, leaves, and bark. They also feed on aquatic vegetation, such as algae
and aquatic mosses. The antlers of the males are impressive and can reach up to 150 cm in width. Canadian Moose inhabit large areas of Canada, and can be found in the boreal forest regions
of Quebec and Newfoundland.
