Self-introduction

Dear my professors,

Good morning, I am glad to be here for this interview. My name is XiaoXiao. I am 25 years old. I am from Luoyang. It is a very beautiful ancient city. I am studying in the school of chemical engineering, Tsinghua University.

During my master's degree, my research mainly involves two parts: Catalyst and electrochemistry. On the one hand, the application of nickel catalyst in methanation was studied. We prepared nickel-based catalysts by a new method of microcombustion, which formed by combination of solution combustion method and plasma treatment technology. The effects of fuel ratio and doping metal on the structure of catalyst were studied. And then, explore the relationship between structure and performance. On the other hand, preparation of flowerlike nickel oxide for supercapacitor application was studied. In this work, we explore the influence of solvents and surfactants on the flower-like structure and electrochemical properties of NiO.

In the process of research, I am proficient in the basic operation and analysis of various characterization instruments, such as XRD, XPS, TEM and so on. I am also good at operating gas chromatography and electrochemical workstations. During my master's degree, I guide undergraduates to participate in the innovation project of Tsinghua University "Preparation of nickel-based core-shell catalyst and its application in Dry Reforming of Methane and carbon dioxide". In the laboratory,I built a fluidized bed reaction device and worked as a safety officer for two years. So I have strong practical ability and a strong sense of responsibility. I have published two papers and patents.

I am a vivacious and perseverance person. If I make up my mind to do something, no matter how difficult it is, I will try my best to finish it and never give up. My motto is: you will be what you want to be. Thank you for your listening.

1. Where are you from?

I am from Luoyang. It is a very beautiful ancient ciety. Luoyang got its name due to its location in the adret of the ancient Luoshui River. It is famous as the capital city for thirteen dynasties. The peony in LuoYang is the best in the world.

2. Could you tell me something about your family?

Well，It is my greathonor to talk about my family. My family is very warm and harmonious. There are four members in my family: my father, mother, brother and I. My parents are typical Chinese farmers. Both of them are diligent and kind. And my brother is a sales manager. He works very hard. In a word, I love them.

3. Why did you choose our university?

There are several reasons. First of all, University of Science & Technology Beijing is very famous. Second, materials science and engineering is great, which got an A in discipline assessments. Finally, what attract me most is the high quality of teaching and the great atmosphere of study.

5. Can you tell us something about your plans in your postgraduate study?

If I luckily I got the chance to learn in Peking University, I will concentrate on the study and research in materials science and engineering. First of all, I hope I would establish a systematic frame of my knowledge in this field. In order to attain my academic goal, I need to read lots of literature of electrochemistry and do a lot of experiments. Second, I hope my research results can be applied in real life.

6. What social responsibilities should a post-graduate take?

As a doctor，I will study hard so that I can become a qualified researcher, and get ready to make contribution to the construction of socialist country.
