Nanjing city is the capital of 6 dynasties. However during the early 20th century, it suffered almost total destruction dur ing the Japanese occupation and civil war after that. But with the sheer determination, love for their city and resourcefulness of the government and its people, it has developed over the last 60 years to become one of the major cities along the Chang Jiang Delta with a population of 7 million. It is also home to one of the highest no of higher learning institutions per capital in China. Throughout the miraculous development/ transformation from a almost empty city 60 years ago to a modern city of 7 million today, it has preserved and created large green lungs (the famous 4 green lungs of Jiangxin Zhou, Mufu Yanziji, Zhongshan Scenic Area and Yuhua Tai Scenic Area) with smaller parks and open spaces and greening the major roads to turn the city into a clean and probably the most green city in China. This demonstrated its people’s love for their environment and their desire to live with nature. NJ eco hi tech island is conceived to be an island showcasing the future of NJ. It is a showcase of its people’s love for NJ, love for the environment, talents, resourcefulness and un-wavering determination that combined to push the frontier of the economic and technological development. And become the best in the field of Hi tech eco technologies in the world. Creating another economic, social, environment and governance miracle for NJ. It would position N J on the world map as the destination for hi tech eco innovations and practice. NJ eco H i tech island will be a place where talents from all over the world meet, work and live. A new generation of confident and talented individuals and companies importing their skills, knowledge, capital with the vision to reshape the future of mankind and our environment. A place whereby normal urban development principles are challenged and redefined in which human settlements are part of nature. It will be a place : • • • • Where it is possible to work, live and play in responsible ways. Where buildings are built and consume the minimum non renewable resources/ energies. Where it is not necessary to drive a personal car. Where walking and cycling is a pleasure and taking the public transport is a breeze.

在全球需要的推动下，为了下一代而保留、保护和改善环境 为创建高质量生态环境而产生对各种科技研发产业的需求 需要改变我们现有的生产、消费与生活方式，转向对自然更负责任的方式 我们需要创建一种方案而重新定义城市发展与自然保护的关系 我们迫切需要减少对不可再生能源的消耗 需要建立一个平台能鼓励人们尽情进行人与人之间，人与自然之间的互动，丰富人文生活 迫切需要通过教育、示范与亲身体验而建立公众的环保意识
做为一个拥有7 百万人口的现代城市，南京在发展社会经济、开展城市建设的同时，还保留创造 了大片的城市绿地，除江心洲、幕府山燕子矶、钟山风景区与雨花台风景区四大绿肺外，还有大大小 小的社区公园、广场绿地以及良好的道路绿化，使南京成为绿意盎然、环境宜人的绿化模范城市，展 示了南京人民对城市环境的热爱和生活在大自然中的渴望。
