Part One: Origin of British soccer
it was in England that soccer really begins to take shape. It all started in 1863 in England, when two football association (association football and rugby football) split off on their different course. Therefore, the first Football Association was founded in England.
Part Two: The birth of modern British soccer
On October 26, 1863, in London the British set up the world’s first football organization - the British Football Association (The FA) and uniformed the rules of football. They ruled a total of 14 soccer rules, which are now based on. Today, people call this day “the birth of the British soccer”.

As the Premiership sponsor(赞助商）of the FA Premier League, Barclays Bank in 2004 named it “Barclays English Premier League”，which is nowadays usually referred to the Premier League and is the professional football league under the Football Association of England. English Premier League was established on February 20, 1992, whose predecessor was the League of England. So the FA Premier League is the highest level league of the English league system.
