Spanish colonization

Christopher Columbus (c. 1451 – 1506) his voyages across the Atlantic Ocean led to general European awareness of the American continents in the Western Hemisphere. 1.3 NATIVE-AMERICAN CULTURES
A. Indian customs and culture: extraordinarily diverse. Most tribes, particularly in the wooded eastern region and the Midwest, combined aspects of hunting, gathering, and the cultivation of maize and other products for their food supplies. In many cases, the women were responsible for farming and the distribution of food, while the men hunted and participated in war.

Mound builders: name given to those people who built mounds for burial, residential and ceremonial purposes. in a large area from the Great Lakes to the Gulf of Mexico and from the Mississippi River to the Appalachian Mts.
