It cannot deny the crucial influence which bring by the mass media. It covers the every aspects of our daily life. Can you imagine the life without the TV, newspaper and internet? Thousands of years, people, whenever from east and west, are all in the pursuit the correction and speed of the information processing. With the development of the technology, data exchange is increasingly fast and more correct in different ways. It sounds like the air which is everywhere. Every coin has two sides. The mass media bring benefits to humankind without doubt. Nowadays, we enter into an age of information. It is the key, mastering more information, to success. We are encouraged to get involved in the information source, get it and know how to use it. To the large extent to enjoy the advantages and know how to use the new technology to collect, explain and deliver all sorts of information in society. But we also need to mention the negative aspects of it. I changed the way we know the world. One recent research of CCTV showed that there in a decreasing number of people who are willing to purchase a book and read it. And the reading ability of students is declining. The adolescent tends to accept the information through video and sound, not from words. How pathetic! All in all, I believe the beneifts of the mass media is overwhelmed the weaknesses. It all depends on the way you use the information.

The advance of mass media, transportation and media communication has brought lots of changes to the way we interact/communicate with family, relatives, friends and other people. How do you think with pros and cons of these advances?

带来了很多变化,我们交流/与家人,。您如何看待与这些进步的优点和缺点?

大众媒体,交通和媒体沟通的发展给大家与家人,亲戚,朋友和其他人交流的方式带来了很大的变化

Mass media are tools of communication. They allow us to record and pass information rapidly to a large, scattered audience. They extend our ability to each other by helping us overcome limits caused by time and space.

Mass media can be divided into two groups: print media and electronic media. By print media, we mean books, newspapers and magazines. Electronic media include television, radio and movie. Third, mass media help us to connect with various groups in society. Through mass media, we are able to keep in contact with politicians in the world; with famous actors and actresses, and with our beloved singers.

Fourth, the media help to socialize us. We learn about the preferred behavior and values from the people we meet as well as from the media. Through portrayals of people, the media tell us what proper behaviors are. By doing so, they teach us standards of behavior and values, and help us in our daily life.

Sixth, the media entertain. All of the media make some effort trying to entertain their audience. For example, even though the newspaper is a main medium of information, it also contains entertainment features. Many newspapers offer their readers at least some of the following: comics, fiction books and puzzle games, televisions and magazines are devoted mainly to entertainment. It is guessed that in the future, the entertainment function of mass media will become even more important than it is now.

Second, mass media help us to arrange our time and life. What we talk about and what we think about are greatly influenced by the media. When people get together, they tend to talk about certain happenings on the newspapers or on TV. Because we are provided with differing points of view through different kinds of media every day, we are able to comment on all sides of a certain issue.

Fifth, the media are used to persuade people. A good example is advertisements through the media. Newspapers, magazines and TV are filled with all kinds of colorful, persuasive advertisements. Though many advertisements may not say openly that they want you to buy a certain product, they describe their products in such a way that you may want to but them.

Every day, we are all influenced by the mass media (television, movies, radio, magazines, newspapers, and the like). Although some critics of the media claim that these means of communication are used primarily to control our thinking and get us to buy products that we don't need, the media also contribute to keeping people informed.

In other words, while dangers do exist, the benefits of the media far outweigh the disadvantages.

Most of the messages brought to viewers, listeners, and readers are designed whether to inform or to entertain and neither of these goals can be considered dangerous or harmful. If consumers of the media could be taught at an early age to examine messages critically, i.e., to think carefully about what is being communicated they would be able to take advantage of the information and enjoy the entertainment without being hurt by it. The key to critical thinking is recognizing the purposes of the news or scriptwriters, the advertisers, and so on. Are both sides of an issue being presented? Is the amount of violence and killing shown necessary to the point of a story? Have enough facts about a product being advertised been presented? Furthermore, in a country with a democratic form of government, the people can be kept informed by the mass media. To be able to express their views and vote intelligently, citizens need the opportunity to hear news, opinions, and public affairs programming. Information about current events is presented in depth on publicly funded TV channels and radio stations as well as in newspapers. In addition, the public
