remain的用法[1]

1.保持不变：继续保持同一种状态或情况：

vi.逗留/停留：remain (+ 介宾/副词)

These matters remain in doubt. 这些事情仍然值得怀疑

Only a few students remained in the classroom just now.

2.To continue to be in the same place; stay or stay behind: 留下：逗留在同一地方；停留或者留下：We are remaining at home. 我们留在家里

3.To be left after the removal, loss, passage, or destruction of others:

余留：在其他事物移走，丢失，走开或毁坏之后仍留下来：

vi.剩下/残存：remain (+ 介宾/副词)如：Nothing remained on the road after a strong wind.

4.To be left as still to be dealt with: 尚待：剩余的仍需要处理的：

5.To endure or persist. 持久或坚持

6.留下；遗留

I went to the city, but my brother remained at home. 我去了城市，可弟弟留在了家里。vi.留待/尚待：此时它有两个固定句型如下：

固定句型一：sth/sb remain to be + 过去分词

固定句型二：It remain to be seen + whether引导的主语从句

如：The problem remained to be solved.

It remains to be seen whether he'll come or not tomorrow.

Peter became a judge but John remained a fisherman.

彼得当了法官，但约翰仍然是个渔民。

He's determined to remain loyal to the team whatever comes his way.

The death of the innkeeper still remains a mystery. 客栈老板之死仍然是个谜。

sth. remain to be done意思是“...有待被做”

习惯用语：it remains to be seen 还要看情况发展

sb./sth. remain+ n./adj.意思是“...依然...”

sb. remain doing sth.意思是“...依然在做...”

vi.依旧/仍然: remain + 形容词/名词如：The secret remains unknown now.

remaining除了是remain的现在分词/动名词形式外，还可以单独做形容词，意思是“剩下的”。如：You should finish your remaining homework.

remain作为“尚待/留待”

只能说“sth remain to be + 过去分词”，不能说“sth remain to do”。

所以是remain to be solved，而不是remain to solve.

keep on doing是一直做某事的意思

keep sb doing是让某人一直做某事的意思

keep sb from doing是不让某人做某事的意思

keep sth+adj\介词短语做宾补

keep off是离开

keep on about sth是继续谈论

hear/see(感官动词hear, notice, watch, see, find, feel, smell, look at, listen to；) +sb./sth. +doing/do/done

使役动词let, make+ sb do/ done；get sth done; get sb to do sth; have sb do; have sb doing; have sth done; leave sth undone; leave sb doing; keep sb doing; keep sb/sth done。

■v+ sb. doing sth.表示sb.正在做某事（主动）。

■v+ sb. do sth. 强调动作的全过程，即sb.做过某事

■v+ sb.+ ~ed(过去分词)，表示宾语与过去分词是被动关系（或完成）。

I saw him crossing the street..我看见他正穿过街道。

I saw him cross the street..我看见他穿过了街道。

I saw your little brother beaten by a big boy. 我看见你的小孩被一个大男孩打。

I want to make myself understood/heard by everyone.我想让每个人理解（听见）我。

I had my car fixed. 我让我的车修理了。

I had Tom fix my car. 我让TOM修我的车。

Don’t leave the water running when you wash your face.别让水一直流着。
