• Skills: Geisha (芸者), geiko (芸子) or geigi (芸妓) are
traditional, female Japanese entertainers whose skills include performing various Japanese arts such as classical music and dance, wearing kimono（和服）, elaborate makeup（精心化妆） and hair. • Prostitutes(妓女) VS geisha: A geisha's sex and love life is usually distinct from her professional life. A successful geisha can entrance her male customers with music, dance, and conversation. They are definitely not submissive and subservient and they hold high social status. • Geisha are single women, though they may have lovers or boyfriends whom they have personally picked, who support them financially.

• Memoris of a Geisha is a 2005 film adaptation of the novel of the same name. It was directed by Rob Marshall and stars Zhang Ziyi, Ken Watanabe（渡边谦）, Gong Li, Michelle Yeoh（杨紫琼）etc. • Plot: the story begins in a poor fishing village in 1929, when Sayuri, the nine-year-old girl with unusual blue-gray eyes is taken from her home and sold into slavery to a renowned（著名的） geisha house. We witness her transformation as she learns the rigorous（严格的） arts of the geisha. Despite the treacherous Hatsumomo (Gong Li) （奸诈的初桃） who nearly breaks her spirit, the girl blossoms into a legendary geisha under the guidance of her mentor Mameha真羽美 (Michelle Yeoh). Beautiful and accomplished, Sayuri captivates（迷住） the most powerful men of her day, but is haunted by her secret love for the one man who is out of her reach, the mysterious Chairman (Ken Watanabe).
• The three leading non-Japanese actresses (Zhang Ziyi, Gong Li, and Michelle Yeoh) were put through "geisha boot camp" before production commenced, during which they were trained in traditional geisha practices of musicianship, dance, and tea ceremony.

These are memories of another kind.
