Recreational Activities

Nowadays there are a variety of recreational activities for people to choose and take part in. Some like singing or dancing while others are fond of watching movies or TV series. People are free to choose whatever recreational activities they like.

It is obvious that recreational activities are relaxing and people can benefit from them. Furthermore, people can develop interest and make friends through those activities, which make their life colorful. However, recreational activities can also do harm to them. It is commonly seen that a youngster gets addicted to a certain recreational activity and wastes a lot of time and energy on it, resulting in his falling behind in study or work.

As a college student, I think we must try not to break the balance between study and leisure. Recreational-activities are a necessary part of life but we should not spend too much time on them. We should concentrate on our studies rather than indulge ourselves with recreational activities.

What Electives To Choose

Nowadays, there is a great variety of electives in college for students to choose from, and they have the freedom to choose whatever they like.

Students choose different electives for different reasons. Some students simply choose what they like. They think they will gain some fun from it. Others choose what they think is good to them, so they can learn knowledge and skill from the course although it may not be much fun. Also some students choose a course just because its teacher is famous, so they can have the honor to learn with great masters.

Take myself as an example. My elective this term is "English Writing Skills”. The reason why I choose it is because I'm crazy about English. Furthermore, English writing is a skill essential to job-hunting today. I've enjoyed the course, and benefited a lot from it as well.

It has been a hot topic for a long time whether the CCTV Spring Festival Gala should be cancelled or not. Many people advocate that CCTV Spring Festival Gala offers a wonderful opportunity to celebrate this traditional festival, for the Chinese all over the world can share the same happiness and excitement brought by the TV program. In addition, many performances are very impressive, and some can even positively affect our life value.

However, every coin has two sides. Some people hold that CCTV Spring Festival Gala should be cancelled. One of the most significant reasons may be that this form of celebration force people to spend the eve more passively. What’s more, a great proportion of the programs are not attractive enough.

As to me, my favor goes to the former opinion, because spring CCTV Spring Festival Gala gives us another option to celebrate this important moment. But it is really essential to improve the quality of the programs. And I hope some better forms of celebration will be created in the near future.

Is it necessary to hold the CCTV Spring Festival Gala every year? Many people would say yes，because the Spring Festival Gala not only presents cheerful songs and dances to the audience, but also creates joyous atmosphere for the Chinese Lunar New Year.

At the same time, some people propose a different opinion. According to them, it is increasingly difficult to cater for all tastes, in spite of great efforts and large sum of money from into the Gala. They appeal the Spring Festival Gala to be canceled or replaced by other means. They call for people to focus their attention on other forms of celebration instead of immersing themselves in TV.

I am in favor of the former opinion. Undoubtedly, the Spring Festival Gala plays

a vital role in celebration of Chinese New Year. Although it is difficult to accommodate all the audience owing to various individual tastes, the Gala has won the hearts of millions of Chinese people.
