Requirements
Appearance When inspected as per Paragraph 6.2, the casing of battery shall not deform or crack, the surface shall be smooth, dry and without alkali trace, and the marks shall be correct and clearly visible.
5.7
Discharge property at 20C When tested as per Paragraph 6.9, the duration of discharge at 20C5C shall be no less than the value given in Table 1.
5.2
Polarity When inspected as per Paragraph 6.3, the polarity of battery shall comply with the marked polarity symbol.
5.3
Contour dimensions and weights Refer to Annex A for the contour dimensions and weights of batteries.
5.4
Short-circuit test Subjecting to 5-minute exst, the battery shall not burst or cause fire.
5.5

Definitions and Symbols
In addition to those provided in GB/T 2900.11, the following definitions apply throughout this Standard.
3.1
Sealed cell Means the battery that remains closed when operating within the specified design scope; however, once the inner pressure increases and outstrips the pre-set value, gas is permitted to escape via a pressure release device which may be reset or may not.
3.2
Symbols C3 – nominal capacity at 3-hour rate. I3 – discharge current at 3-hour rate, which value equals 1/3C3(A).
V – voltage drop, represented in V, from V1 (the peak value of charge voltage attained when charged at a certain current) to V2 within the specified time limit, i.e., V

PREFACE
This voluntary national standard has been developed with reference to IEC 61436 (1998) “Sealed nickel-metal hydride rechargeable single cells”. The provisions herein have been set out based on the technical requirements for electric road vehicles, in consideration of the local present level of nickel-metal hydride batteries; both the current demands and future development have been taken into account, i.e., this Standard has been worked out based on the local latest level. In this Standard, Annex A shall be informative. This Standard was proposed by the State Administration of Machine-making Industry. This Standard shall be subject to the administration of SAC/TC114. It was drafted by No. 18 Research Institute of Electronics, Ministry of Information Industry. The following units also participated in the drafting: National Engineering & Development Center of Hi-tech Innovative Energy Storage Materials, General Research Institute for Non-ferrous Metals, Shenyang Zhongliao Sanpu Batteries Co., Ltd., Guangdong Shili Group Co., and State-owned No. 755 Plant. Main drafters are: Wang Jie, Wang Jiqiang, Mao Licai, Zhan Feng, Liu Yuanhong, and Duan Qiusheng.
