Carpooling is a group of people sharing the responsibility(责任) of driving to school in the morning. There are usually four or five kids in a carpool and their parents take turns driving the kids in their cars.It might be the kids’ first experience with real teamwork. 留学生如何适应国外生活英语作文
留学生如何适应国外生活英语作文全文共3篇示例,供读者参考篇1Adapting to Life Abroad as an International StudentWhen I first stepped off the plane in the United States as an international student, I was filled with a mix of excitement and trepidation. I had dreamed of studying abroad for years, but actually being there was overwhelming. The language, the culture, the way of life - everything was new and unfamiliar. Little did I know then just how challenging, but also rewarding, my experience as an international student would be.If you're an international student getting ready to study abroad, here are some tips I picked up along the way for adapting to your new surroundings:Be Prepared for Culture ShockNo matter how much research you've done, no amount of preparation can fully brace you for the culture shock of being immersed in a completely new environment. Simple things like communicating, eating, or even greeting others can be totallydifferent from what you're used to. It's normal to feel disoriented, overwhelmed, or even frustrated and homesick at times. My advice? Expect the unexpected and try to remainopen-minded. Don't be afraid to ask questions or make mistakes - that's all part of the learning process. Give yourself time to adjust, and remember that what feels shocking today will likely start feeling normal before you know it.Learn the LanguageIf you'll be studying in a country where you don't speak the native language, making an effort to learn it is crucial for adapting successfully. Sign up for language classes, watch movies or shows in that language, read books and newspapers, and try to practice conversing as much as possible.Don't be discouraged if you struggle at first. Language learning is a gradual process that takes patience and persistence. But sticking with it will help you navigate daily life, understand cultural nuances, make friends, and get so much more out of your international experience.Get Involved on CampusOne of the best ways to adapt is to dive headfirst into campus life. Join clubs or organizations that interest you - it's agreat way to meet new people, experience the local culture, and start feeling at home. Check out events happening on campus, attend lectures, plays or sports games, and get to know your university community. As an international student, I also found it extremely helpful to connect with organizations geared specifically towards foreign students. They can provide resources, organize social events and outings, and help you navigate things like immigration paperwork that may be unfamiliar.Step Out of Your Comfort ZoneStudying abroad is the perfect opportunity to step out of your comfort zone and try new experiences. Make an effort to socialize with locals and domestic students, not just other international students. Immerse yourself in the culture by attending festivals and community events. When you're invited to join an outing or social gathering, say yes as often as you can - those unplanned adventures frequently turn into the most rewarding and memorable experiences. Don't be afraid to make mistakes, look silly, or get lost once in a while. Putting yourself out there is how you'll grow and gain confidence.Take Care of YourselfAll of the newness and adjustment can be incredibly overwhelming at times. Make sure to take care of your physical and mental wellbeing along the way. Eat a balanced diet, exercise regularly, get enough sleep, and find healthy outlets to manage stress and anxiety like meditation or journaling.Don't bottle up your emotions or be too hard on yourself when you're having an off day. Reach out for help if you're struggling - most universities have counseling and support resources available for international students.Form a "Familiar" Support SystemSpeaking of support, it's wise to form a "familiar" support system to help you get through the inevitable tough times. Stay connected with friends and family back home through video calls, messaging apps, social media, etc. If you have the opportunity, get to know students from your home country who are also studying abroad.Having that core group you can lean on for familiarity and encouragement when you're feeling homesick or frustrated can make a huge difference. They'll understand exactly what you're experiencing in a way that new local friends may not.Embrace the AdventureAt the end of the day, studying abroad is an incredible opportunity for personal growth, learning about new cultures, expanding your worldview, and making lifelong memories. It won't always be easy, but choosing to embrace the adventure and all of its ups and downs is so rewarding. There will be moments of sadness, loneliness, or wishing you could just go back to the familiarity of home. But there will also be moments of pure awe, excitement, and contentment that you could never experience any other way. Hold onto those positive moments tightly, and don't lose sight of why you chose to make this amazing journey in the first place.Adapting to a new country and culture is no small feat, but keeping an open mind, stepping out of your comfort zone, and being proactive about taking care of yourself can help the transition immensely. If you remain resilient and patient, before you know it, what once felt so foreign will become a special home away from home. Soak it all in and enjoy the adventure!篇2Venturing into the Unknown: An International Student's Guide to Adapting to Life AbroadAs an international student, the prospect of studying in a foreign country can be both exhilarating and daunting. Leaving the familiarity of your homeland and immersing yourself in a new culture is a journey that promises invaluable personal growth, but it also presents a unique set of challenges. Adapting to a new way of life, navigating cultural nuances, and finding your footing in an unfamiliar environment can be overwhelming. However, with the right mindset and strategies, you can not only survive but thrive in your new surroundings. The first and most crucial step in adapting to life abroad is embracing an open and flexible mindset. Understand that the experiences you encounter may be vastly different from what you're accustomed to, and that's perfectly okay. Resist the temptation to cling to your preconceived notions or judge everything through the lens of your cultural upbringing. Instead, approach each situation with curiosity and a willingness to learn. Appreciate the diversity that surrounds you, and be receptive to new perspectives and ways of doing things. One of the biggest challenges you'll face as an international student is navigating the cultural differences. From social etiquette and communication styles to values and beliefs, the cultural landscape can be vastly different from what you're usedto. It's essential to educate yourself about the host country's culture and customs. Attend cultural events, participate in language exchanges, and immerse yourself in the local community. This exposure will not only broaden your understanding but also help you build meaningful connections and relationships.Language proficiency is another crucial aspect of adapting to life abroad. While many international students have a strong command of English or another lingua franca, mastering the nuances and colloquialisms of the local language can greatly enhance your overall experience. Don't be afraid to make mistakes or feel self-conscious about your accent – the more you practice, the more confident and fluent you'll become. Participate in language classes, join conversation clubs, or find a language partner to help you improve your skills.Homesickness is a common experience for international students, and it's perfectly normal to feel a sense of longing for the familiar comforts of home. However, it's important not to let homesickness consume you. Stay connected with your loved ones through video calls, social media, or good old-fashioned letters, but also make an effort to build a support system in your new environment. Join student organizations, attend socialevents, and cultivate friendships with fellow international students and locals alike. These connections can provide a sense of belonging and help you create a home away from home.Maintaining good physical and mental health is essential for a successful study abroad experience. The stress of adapting to a new environment, coupled with academic pressures, can take a toll on your well-being. Prioritize self-care by engaging in regular exercise, practicing mindfulness or meditation, and seeking support when needed. Many universities offer counseling services and support groups specifically designed for international students, so don't hesitate to utilize these resources.Academically, you may encounter different teaching styles, grading systems, and expectations than what you're accustomed to. Embrace these differences as opportunities for growth and personal development. Seek guidance from your professors, academic advisors, or tutors if you're struggling to adapt to the new educational environment. Utilize campus resources, such as writing centers, study groups, or peer mentoring programs, to enhance your academic success. Finally, remember to embrace the adventure! Studying abroad is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to explore newhorizons, broaden your perspectives, and create lasting memories. Step out of your comfort zone and immerse yourself in the local culture. Try new foods, attend cultural festivals, and participate in traditional activities. These experiences will not only enrich your personal growth but also provide you with invaluable stories and memories to cherish for years to come.In conclusion, adapting to life abroad as an international student is a journey filled with challenges and rewards. By embracing an open mindset, respecting cultural differences, improving language proficiency, building a support system, prioritizing self-care, and embracing the adventure, you can navigate this transition with grace and resilience. The skills and experiences you gain during your time abroad will not only shape your personal and academic growth but also equip you with invaluable tools for success in an increasingly globalized world.篇3Leaving Home to Study Abroad: Navigating the Challenges as an International StudentAs an international student, the decision to pursue higher education in a foreign country is both exhilarating and daunting. While the prospect of immersing oneself in a new culture and broadening one's horizons is thrilling, the reality of adapting to a vastly different environment can be overwhelming. From navigating unfamiliar academic systems to grappling with language barriers and cultural differences, the journey of an international student is rife with challenges that demand resilience, open-mindedness, and a willingness to step out of one's comfort zone. One of the most significant hurdles faced by international students is the language barrier. Even for those who have studied the language of their host country, the nuances of everyday communication can be challenging to grasp. Misunderstandings and miscommunications can occur, leading to frustration and a sense of isolation. However, this obstacle can be overcome through persistence and a willingness to practice. Engaging in conversations with native speakers, participating in language exchange programs, and immersing oneself in the local culture through media and social activities can greatly enhance language proficiency and facilitate smoother integration.Cultural differences can also present a formidable challenge for international students. From social norms and customs tocommunication styles and values, the cultural landscape of a new country can be vastly different from one's own. Navigating these differences requires an open mind and a willingness to embrace new perspectives. Respecting and appreciating cultural diversity is essential, as is the ability to adapt one's behavior and mindset to fit the new environment. Engaging with local communities, attending cultural events, and seeking guidance from mentors or fellow students can provide invaluable insights and support in navigating cultural nuances.Academic expectations and teaching styles can also vary significantly across countries, presenting another obstacle for international students. The transition from a familiar educational system to a new one can be disorienting, with different assessment methods, classroom dynamics, and expectations for independent learning. Seeking guidance from academic advisors, attending workshops or seminars on academic skills, and connecting with fellow students can help navigate these challenges. Additionally, developing effective time management and study strategies tailored to the new academic environment can greatly enhance academic success.Beyond academic and cultural challenges, international students may also face emotional and psychological struggles.Homesickness, loneliness, and the stress of adapting to a new environment can take a toll on one's mental well-being. Building a supportive network of friends, both local and international, can provide a sense of community and belonging. Participating in campus activities, joining student organizations, or seeking counseling services can also help alleviate feelings of isolation and promote overall well-being.Financial considerations are another aspect that international students must navigate. Tuition fees, living expenses, and the potential need for part-time employment can add additional stress and strain. Effective budgeting, exploring scholarship and financial aid opportunities, and seeking advice from financial advisors can help mitigate these challenges.Amidst these various obstacles, it is essential for international students to practice self-care and maintain a positive mindset. Engaging in activities that promote physical and mental well-being, such as exercise, hobbies, or relaxation techniques, can provide a much-needed respite from the demands of adapting to a new environment. Additionally, celebrating small wins and acknowledging personal growth can foster a sense of accomplishment and motivation to persevere through challenging times. In conclusion, the journey of an international student is one filled with challenges and opportunities for personal growth. By embracing a mindset of resilience, open-mindedness, and a willingness to adapt, these obstacles can be navigated successfully. Seeking support from campus resources, building a strong support network, and practicing self-care are crucial components of thriving in a new academic and cultural environment. With determination and a positive attitude, the experience of studying abroad can be a truly transformative and enriching one, laying the foundation for personal and professional growth on a global scale.。

你喜欢城市生活还是农村生活的英语作文
你喜欢城市生活还是农村生活的英语作文全文共3篇示例,供读者参考篇1City Life or Country Life - Which Do I Prefer?Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in a totally different place than where you live now? Some people dream of the hustle and bustle of a big city, while others crave the peace and quiet of the countryside. As for me, I've experienced a bit of both and I have to say, I much prefer country living!Let me start by telling you about where I'm from. I was born and raised in a small village called Oakwood in the heart of the English countryside. My village only had a few hundred people and we were surrounded by rolling green hills, babbling brooks, and lots of farms and open fields.Even though Oakwood was tiny, I loved growing up there. Every morning I would wake up to the sound of roosters crowing and cows mooing in the distance. The air always smelled so fresh and clean. Sometimes I could even catch a whiff of the sweet scent of wildflowers or freshly cut grass. My friends and I spent pretty much all our free time outside - we couldn't get enough of the great outdoors! We would go on adventures exploring the forests and meadows near our homes. We built forts, caught frogs and butterflies, and had lots of epic outdoor adventures and games of make-believe. One of my favorite things was visiting the local farms and getting to see and interact with all the animals like cows, pigs, horses, chickens, and more. The farmers were always so friendly and happy to show us around.Speaking of farmers, I loved being surrounded by so much agriculture and getting to eat fresh, locally-grown fruits and veggies. My grandfather had a huge vegetable garden that he spent hours tending to. I have so many happy childhood memories of eating sun-ripe tomatoes and juicy strawberries straight from the garden. Yum!When I was 10 years old, my dad got a new job in the big city of London, so our family had to move away from our quaint village. Let me tell you, moving from the peaceful countryside to a massive, crowded city was culture shock to say the least!Instead of waking up to roosters, I was awoken each morning by blaring car horns, sirens, and construction noise. The air always smelled like exhaust and garbage instead of flowersand fresh air. Our little apartment always felt dark and cramped compared to our spacious house and huge yard back in Oakwood. One of the biggest adjustments was not having any outdoor space to run around and play in. Since we lived in the city, there were no big backyards, forests, or meadows to explore. The closest thing was a small neighborhood park, but it was nothing like having miles and miles of countryside to roam. My friends and I basically had to find indoor activities and games to keep ourselves entertained.Another thing that really bugged me about city living was all the people, traffic, and noise everywhere you went. I missed the tranquility and solitude of country life. In London, you always had to deal with huge crowds of people no matter where you went - shops, parks, restaurants, you name it. The streets were always jam-packed with cars honking and idling, completely different than the peaceful village roads I was used to.Don't get me wrong, there were cool aspects of living in London too. We went to awesome museums, shows, sports games, and other attractions that you just can't really get in small towns. The food scene was incredible too, with an endless array of diverse cuisines and new foods for me to try. And of course, one of my favorite perks of city living was getting to go on the Underground (the London subway system) which I thought was a total blast! But at the end of the day, the negatives of city life started to outweigh the positives for me after a couple years. I felt cooped up and stressed out by the lack of nature, constant noise, crowds, and pollution. I longed for the open spaces and fresh air that I took for granted back in my village. When I turned 13, my parents could tell how unhappy I was living in London, so they decided to take an opportunity to move back to a small town in the countryside. We picked a place called Meadowbrook which was about a 2-hour drive from the city. It has been such a relief being able to enjoy country living once again! These days, I love going on long walks on the wooded trails near my house and just taking in all the sights, smells, and sounds of nature. I cherish the ability to step outside and be totally surrounded by open space, trees, and wildlife instead of buildings and traffic. At night I can see a dazzling canopy of stars that you could never witness in the city because of all the light pollution. While London had some cool attractions, I honestly get just as much enjoyment (if not more) out of simple country pleasures like going fishing, having bonfires and cookouts, or just laying out in the backyard cloud watching on a beautiful day. I've also taken up horseback riding lessons, which is something I never could have done in the city.Another aspect I really appreciate about country living is the tight-knit sense of community. In a small town, you really get to know your neighbors in a way that's impossible in a huge urban area. The mom-and-pop stores and business owners all know your name and face. It's such a friendly, inviting atmosphere compared to the anonymity and coldness you can sometimes feel living in the city as a tiny fish in a huge pond.So in summary, while city life does have its advantages like lots of restaurants, attractions, and public transit, I'm definitely happier being a country kid at heart! Maybe I'll feel differently as an adult, but for now, give me the simple pleasures of nature, open spaces, fresh air, cute small towns, and getting to know your neighbors any day over the smog, noise, and rat race of the big city. The peaceful, laidback country lifestyle is where it's at for this young'un. I'm proud to be a country girl! Thanks for reading my essay.篇2City Life or Country Life?Do you like the bright lights of the big city or the quiet peace of the countryside? For me, it's a tough choice! There are lots of great things about both city life and country life. Let me tell you about some of the pros and cons of each.Living in the CityI love visiting the city! There's always so much to do and see. The buildings are huge and tall, towering up into the sky. The streets are crowded with people, cars, buses, and taxis zooming everywhere. It's a bit overwhelming at first with all the noise and commotion, but also really exciting. In the city, you'll never get bored. There are amazing museums with dinosaur skeletons, ancient artifacts, and cool science exhibits. The theaters have all the latest movies and shows. The shopping is fantastic - you can find stores selling anything you can imagine. And the restaurants...oh the restaurants! So many different cuisines from all around the world.I could eat at a different place every night for months.Cities have awesome parks too, like Central Park in New York City. You can go run around, ride your bike, have a picnic, or justrelax in the middle of all the skyscrapers. There are playgrounds, ponds, and even zoos right inside the city limits. The downside of city life is that it's really crowded and densely populated. Your neighbors are very close by, just on the other side of the wall. It can be loud with traffic, construction, sirens, and people everywhere. Sometimes I get a bit claustrophobic in the city and miss having wide open spaces.Country LivingOn the flipside, living out in the country is a whole different experience. Instead of tall buildings, you've got wide open fields, forests, and farmland spreading out for miles. The air just smells fresher and cleaner out in the country. In the mornings, you're gently woken up by the first rays of sunlight and the sound of roosters crowing, not by blaring car horns and jackhammers. The nights are truly dark with brilliant stars shining down, rather than the city's constant bright glow.Out in the country, you have real space to run and play. You can go explore in the woods, splash around in streams and ponds, or have adventures roaming around open fields. It's so peaceful and quiet compared to the constant noise of the city. You'll hear birds chirping, wind rustling through the trees, and other calming natural sounds. If you live on a farm, you get to be around all sorts of animals like cows, horses, sheep, chickens, and pigs. It's fun to watch the baby calves and lambs frolicking about. You can collect eggs for breakfast right from the hen house. The food just tastes so fresh and delicious when it's grown right on the farm. The biggest downside of country living is that it can be really isolated and far away from fun activities. The nearest movie theater, shopping mall, or restaurant might be hours away by car. You really have to entertain yourself a lot of the time or you'll get bored. It's also harder to hang out with friends since everyone is so spread out.My ChoiceSo what do I prefer - the city or the country? Honestly, I go back and forth! I love the excitement and endless options that a big city offers. But I also really love the tranquility and natural beauty of rural areas. An ideal place for me would be a quiet small town near a city. That way I'd get the best of both worlds - able to enjoy the countryside while still being a quick drive from museums, restaurants, parks, and other city attractions. No matter where I live, I'll always appreciate the good things that both city life and country life have to offer. Cities are bustling with energy, culture, and entertainment. But the country has its own charms with room to roam, gorgeous scenery, and peaceful quiet. I feel very lucky that I can easily experience the advantages of both!篇3Do I Like the City or the Country Better?Hi there! My name is Jamie and I'm 10 years old. Today I want to tell you all about whether I like living in the city or the country better. It's a tough choice because there are great things about both!Let me start by telling you about the awesome parts of living in a big city like New York or Los Angeles. First off, there is always something fun to do no matter what time it is. The cities never sleep! You can go to awesome museums, cool playgrounds, concerts, sports games, and so much more right in your neighborhood. There are also tons of kickin' restaurants to try yummy food from all around the world. My favorite is the pizza place down the street that makes pizza as big as a truck tire!Another fantastic thing about cities is that you'll never feel lonely because there are people everywhere you look. I love walking down the busy streets and seeing people from all kinds of backgrounds and cultures. It feels like the whole world is right there together. And the buildings are just so tall and modernlooking - it makes me feel like I'm living in the future!Cities have awesome public transportation too. You can hop on the subway, train, or bus and get anywhere you need to go without your parents having to drive you. I think that's really convenient and good for the environment since it cuts down on cars and pollution. There's also always something new being built or some cool events happening in cities, so life never gets boring. However, I have to admit that living in a busy city can also have some downsides too. First of all, it's pretty much always crowded and noisy with tons of traffic, construction, sirens, and people everywhere you turn. Sometimes I just want a little peace and quiet, you know? Cities are also pretty dirty with lots of trash on the streets, smoggy air, and not much nature around besides some parks.Another big downside is that everything in cities costs an arm and a leg - rent, groceries, entertainment...you name it! Myparents are always saying how expensive it is to live in our apartment in the city. And there's not much space either with all the buildings jampacked together. Our apartment feels pretty tiny and cramped sometimes. So those are some of the pros and cons of living in a big city. But what about living out in the country or a small town? Well, I've spent time on my grandparents' farm over the summers, and let me tell you - it's a whole different world! One of the best things about the country is just how peaceful and quiet it is. No noisy traffic or jackhammers going off at all hours. Just stillness and the sound of birds chirping or a gentle breeze. You can finally hear yourself think out there! And the air is so fresh and clean without any smog or smoke. It just smells like flowers, trees, and wide open spaces for miles.Speaking of wide open spaces, that's another awesome part of country living. There's tons of land to explore and run around on instead of being cramped into a small city apartment or yard. You can go on adventures hiking through forests, splashing in streams, or just laying out in grassy fields. My grandparents have chickens, cows, and horses too which is amazing for ananimal-lover like me. I just love being around all of that natural beauty and wildlife.Life in the country is also a lot simpler and slower-paced than busy city living. Sure, you might get bored more easily. But it's also just very relaxing without all the hustle and bustle. You can spend quality time with your family working on projects, reading, playing games, or just hanging out. No constant distractions or over-scheduling like in cities. That said, there are some downsides to country living too. One of the biggest is that there's just not as much going on or as many options for entertainment, restaurants, shopping, etc. In a small town, you've pretty much seen and done it all after awhile. You definitely need to create your own fun sometimes! It's also not very culturally diverse, and you can feel pretty isolated from the rest of the world out there.Another issue is that things are very spread out, so you have to drive 20-30 minutes just to get basic groceries or go anywhere important. Public transportation is basically non-existent. And the nearest big hospital is pretty far away too in case of emergencies. You're also more at the mercy of the weather andnature which can be challenging - monsoons, blizzards, drought, etc.So as you can see, there are lots of pros and cons to weigh for both city and country living. Personally, I think I prefer livingin a city for now while I'm young because of all the action, opportunities, and things to do. But I could definitely see myself retiring to a nice small town someday when I'm older to have a quieter, simpler life surrounded by nature. Who knows, maybe I'll even get a farm like my grandparents! For now though, I'm a city kid through and through. I love the fast pace, diversity, and unlimited options for fun. But I'll always treasure my times out in the peaceful, wide open country too. No matter where I live, I'm just grateful to have the chance to experience the best of both worlds! The city or the country - which one would you choose?。

Fossil fuels, such as oil, coal, and natural gas, are burned to make electricity. Burning fossil fuels releases pollution and carbon dioxide gas (CO2) into the air. The more fossil fuels we burn, the warmer theair around Earth gets. So building fossil fuel plans is not always the best answer.Actually, there are other ways to make electricity without burning fossil fuels. People have been using the power of wind for centuries. Wind power wont solve all our energy problems, but it can help meet some of the demands in certain places. Since the late 1800s, scientists have been working to turn the suns energy into electricity by using solar cells (太阳能电池). The problem is, solar cells are very expensive. Another way to make electricity is to use nuclear energy. It has been used for more than 50 years. Today about 10 percent of all the electricity used in the U.S.A. comes from this source.Although nuclear power doesnt pollute the air as the burning of fossil fuels does, there is a major drawback . The waste products from nuclear power plants are dangerous and must be stored in safe places. Many people are concerned about the safety of nuclear power.51.The best title for this passage may be ________A.The Importance of ElectricityB.The Pollution of Making Electricity from Fossil FuelsC.The Advantage of Using Nuclear EnergyD.Means of Making Electrical Power52.Which energy has damage to us according to the passage?A.Wind powerB.Fossil fuelsC.Solar powerD.Water power53.We can infer from the passage that _________A.burning fossil fuels to make electricity is widely usedB.wind power is a widespread way to make electricityC.energy problems will soon be solvedD.nuclear energy will solve all the energy problems we are facing54.What does the underlined word "drawback"(in Para.3)mean?A.effectB.advantageC.disadvantageD.concern55.Which of the following statements is TRUE according to the passage?A.Fossil fuels should be encouraged to use to make electricityB.Not all the areas could use wind power.C.Solar energy costs the mosting nuclear energy will not produce negative effect.Task 3Directions: This task (No.56 to No.60) is the same as Task 1.A new study by the Development of Health in tai shows that more than half of the adult population in tai lacks an understanding of health problems.More than 2,000 adults took part in the survey to find out about their knowledge of diet, health-care, disease control and medicine. Surprisingly, only 51% of the people surveyed understand that common cold has no cure, and taking medicine is absolutely no use at all. The problem is mad worse by doctors who give their patients large doses of useless drugs. More than two-thirds believe that it is only the nicotine in cigarettes rather than the other chemicals that causes cancer. These people believe that if they smoke "light" cigarettes with less nicotine, they will lead to more illness, suffering and early death. But the outlook for health education in tai is not all negative. The survey concludes that younger taiesem have a better understanding of health concerns than their parents, while seniorcitizens have the least understanding among the three age groups.56.The purpose of the survey is to find out _______A.why people neglect their healthB.what people know about healthC.when to provide health educationD.who is more likely to become ill57.Which of the following is TRUE about medicines for cold?A.They can cure common cold.B.Doctors often discourage the patients from taking them.C.About 51% of the patients take them.D.Some taiesem take them unnecessarily.58.According to the survey, most taiesem believe that ____.A.only nicotine leads to cancerB.few people will get cancerC.light cigarettes make people healthyD.other chemicals besides nicotine cause cancer59.About ______ of taiesem adults smokeA.one-thirdB.two-thirdsC.a halfD.a quarter60.The survey shows that ________ have the best understanding of health concerns.A.senior citizensB.middle –aged citizensC.younger taiesemD.taiesem smokersTask 4Directions: The following is a business letter. P ROCEDURE
6.Lesson Introduction/Activation of Prior Knowledge
Ask students to partner up and brainstorm about the country, committee and topic information they will need to find as they prepare for the conference. Ask the pairs to share their responses with the class.
Provide them with any important information that is not presented by a student.
7.Activity
Provide students with Handout D: Getting to Know Your Country. Ask students to underline the words they don’t know (for example, infrastructure, trade bloc, GDP), and discuss these words in class. These terms can be used as vocabulary words in the future. Ask students complete this handout individually.
Once they have completed their handouts, ask students representing the same country to compare their answers to ensure they have the same information.
8.Closing/Wrap-Up
Students can use Handout D as they begin to research their country.
