对唐诗比赛的看法和建议,英语作文

对唐诗比赛的看法和建议,英语作文全文共3篇示例,供读者参考篇1Tang Poetry Competition: A Student's PerspectiveThe annual Tang Poetry Competition has been a beloved tradition at our school for decades, celebrating the enduring legacy of one of China's most prolific and influential literary eras. As a student with a profound appreciation for the art of poetry, I eagerly anticipate this event every year, both as a participant and an audience member. However, as the competition continues to evolve, I believe there is room for improvement to ensure its continued relevance and appeal to our diverse student body.Firstly, I must commend the organizers for their tireless efforts in preserving this cultural heritage and fostering an environment that nurtures creativity and self-expression. The competition provides a unique platform for students to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of Tang poetry, exploring the nuances of language, imagery, and emotion that have captivated readers for centuries. It is a testament to the enduring power ofpoetry to transcend time and cultural boundaries, resonating with young minds in the modern era.One of the strengths of the Tang Poetry Competition lies in its ability to ignite a passion for literature and appreciation for the arts among participants. Through the process of studying and reciting these timeless works, students develop a deeper understanding of the cultural and historical contexts that shaped the poets' perspectives. This exposure not only broadens their literary horizons but also cultivates a sense of cultural identity and pride in their heritage. However, as a participant and observer, I have noticed certain areas that could benefit from thoughtful consideration and adjustments. One aspect that warrants attention is the criteria for judging and selection of winners. While technical proficiency in recitation and adherence to traditional forms are undoubtedly important, I believe there should be greater emphasis on the personal interpretation and emotional resonance conveyed by the performers.Poetry, at its core, is an expression of human experience, a tapestry woven from the threads of emotion, imagination, and personal perspective. By encouraging participants to infuse their performances with their unique voices and interpretations, wenot only honor the spirit of the Tang poets but also foster a deeper connection between the audience and the work itself.Furthermore, I propose the inclusion of a creative writing component within the competition, allowing students to compose their own original works inspired by the Tang era. This addition would not only celebrate the enduring influence of Tang poetry but also provide a platform for students to express their contemporary perspectives and experiences through the lens of this literary tradition. By bridging the past and present, we can ensure the continued relevance and evolution of this art form, nurturing the next generation of poets and literary enthusiasts.Another suggestion I would like to present is the incorporation of interdisciplinary elements into the competition. Poetry has long been intertwined with other art forms, such as calligraphy, music, and dance. By integrating these disciplines, we can create a more immersive and multisensory experience for both participants and audience members. Imagine the power of a poetry recitation accompanied by traditional Chinese music or a calligraphy demonstration, where the visual and auditory elements harmonize to convey the depth and beauty of the words.Additionally, I believe it would be beneficial to expand the scope of the competition to include not only recitation but also analytical and critical discussions surrounding Tang poetry. By fostering intellectual discourse and encouraging students to engage in literary analysis, we can deepen their understanding and appreciation of the nuances and complexities that lie beneath the surface of these works.Lastly, I would like to address the issue of accessibility and inclusivity within the Tang Poetry Competition. While the event celebrates a significant aspect of Chinese cultural heritage, it is crucial to ensure that students from diverse backgrounds feel welcomed and represented. This could be achieved by incorporating works from various regions and dialects within the Tang era, as well as providing translations and cultural context to bridge any gaps in understanding. Moreover, it would be valuable to explore opportunities for collaboration and exchange with students from other schools or even international institutions. By fostering cross-cultural dialogues and exposing participants to diverse perspectives, we can broaden the horizons of the competition and promote a deeper appreciation for the universality of poetry as a means of human expression. In conclusion, the Tang Poetry Competition holds a cherished place in our school's tradition, serving as a powerful conduit for preserving and celebrating China's rich literary heritage. However, as we move forward, it is essential to embrace innovation and adaptability to ensure its continued relevance and appeal to the evolving interests and perspectives of our student body.By incorporating elements of personal interpretation, creative writing, interdisciplinary integration, intellectual discourse, and inclusivity, we can elevate the competition to new heights, fostering a deeper appreciation for the art of poetry while nurturing the next generation of literary enthusiasts and cultural ambassadors. The Tang poets themselves were pioneers of their time, pushing boundaries and exploring uncharted territories of expression. It is our responsibility as inheritors of this legacy to honor their spirit by continuously evolving and reinventing the ways in which we engage with and celebrate their timeless works. Only through embracing change and innovation can we truly keep the flame of Tang poetry burning brightly for generations to come.篇2My Thoughts on the Tang Poetry Contest and How to Improve ItAs a student who recently participated in the annual Tang poetry competition, I have some thoughts and suggestions I'd like to share about the experience. While it was an honor to take part in such a prestigious event celebrating one of the golden ages of Chinese literature, there are certainly areas where the competition could be improved to make it even more engaging and educational for students.First, let me say that I have the utmost respect and admiration for the Tang dynasty poets like Li Bai, Du Fu, and Wang Wei whose works we studied and attempted to analyze and recreate in the modern style. Their ability to capture profound themes and vivid imagery in the rigid constraints of regulated verse is something to be celebrated. Studying their poems provides insights into that era's culture, philosophies, and day-to-day lives in a way that textbook readings alone could never accomplish. However, I can't help but feel that the competition format itself is a bit outdated and could use some reinvention to truly connect with today's students and bring these classic works into the 21st century. When I was first tasked with memorizing andreciting 10-20 full Tang poems for the initial round, I'll admit I felt completely overwhelmed. Expecting modern teenagers to commit pages and pages of ancient verse to memory seemed like an arbitrary requirement that did nothing to actually build appreciation for the poems themselves.Instead of rote memorization, I think students would be better served by an opening round that requires analysis and creative responses to the poems. For example, we could be given lines or passages from Tang works and asked to unpack the metaphors, analyze the poet's perspective and possible influences, or even rewrite it in a modern free verse style. This could allow for more personal expression and original insights rather than just showing you can be a poetry parrot. Those who advance from that round could then be judged on accurate recitation in the finals. The prompts for the creative writing portion where we had to compose our own Tang-style poems also left a lot to be desired in my opinion. We were given vague concepts like "nature" or "enlightenment" and expected to squeeze our ideas into the rigid structure of regulated verse following all the traditional rules of line lengths, tones, rhyme schemes, etc. For contemporary students who are used to free verse and moreopen-ended creative expression, this made the creative portion feel more like an exercise in form rather than true creativity and self-expression.My suggestion would be to provide concrete prompts or statements that allow for more interpretive freedom in how we construct meaning and imagery. For example, we could be shown a photograph or artwork and asked to expound on the specific scenes, emotions, and themes it evokes for us in poetry form. Or we could be given excerpts from other famous works and invited to extend them with our own additions that continue the narrative or line of thinking. This would make the creative portion feel more personally relevant while still allowing us to try our hands at the rigid structures that make Tang poetry so unique.Beyond issues with the format, I also had concerns about the judging criteria feeling quite subjective. From what I could tell, the judges tended to favor very literal, by-the-book interpretations that stuck pretty close to common scholarly readings. Any attempt at more creative or obscure interpretations often seemed to be marked down, even if we provided logical reasoning for our analyses. While I understand the goals of accuracy and fidelity to the original texts, I think there also needs to be room for new readings and perspectives, especially when students makewell-reasoned arguments for their interpretations. The Tang poets were incredibly innovative for their time - isn't instilling that same spirit of creativity and open-mindedness just as important as closely following tradition? Every scholar develops their own critical lens over time through experience. We should be encouraged to start developing our own voices and analytical approaches rather than just defer to authoritative readings without question. As for the creative submissions, again the judging seemed to prioritize strict adherence to Tang conventions over creativity and authentic self-expression. Judges made comments that some of my poem's imagery was too "modern" or "out of place." While I understand the goal is to compose in that classical style, a big part of making these ancient art forms relevant today is about finding fresh ways to merge old and new. We shouldn't be chastised for putting our own personal spins and experimentation into these structured poems - that's what allows for the form's evolution and survival. Finally, while I very much enjoyed the sense of community, camaraderie, and shared appreciation for these timeless literary works, the overall atmosphere of the competition did feel quite insular. It was very much framed as an exclusive, niche interest among scholarly types. As someone with broader interests in music, art, and pop culture, it made the whole experience feel a bit removed from contemporary cultural relevance. My suggestion would be to find creative ways to build bridges and draw connections between Tang poetry and more modern media and creative pursuits that today's youths are passionate about. For example, we could look at how certain rappers and spoken word poets are keeping the spirit of creative wordplay and rhythm alive in new forms. Or explore how themes and imagery from Tang poets have influenced contemporary television, films, games, and other art forms students are already engaging with. Breaking down those barriers could help position these classic works as not just outdated relics but part of an ongoing continuum of human expression that remains relevant. In summary, while celebrating Tang poetry is a worthy and enriching endeavor, the competition could use some updates and new perspectives to make it truly engaging and educational for today's students. Less rote memorization and more analysis, concrete personal prompts rather than vague concepts for creative submissions, allowing for new interpretations rather than punishing creativity, and building connections to contemporary creative pursuits could go a long way. These works have endured for over a millennium because of their power to speak to the full depth of human experience - finding ways to let that power shine through in relevant, inspiring ways for each new generation should be the ultimate goal.篇3A Reflection on the Tang Poetry Competition and Suggestions Moving ForwardAs a student with a keen interest in classical Chinese literature, the recent Tang poetry competition held at our school was an event that piqued my curiosity and enthusiasm. This annual celebration of one of the most revered eras in Chinese literary history offered a unique opportunity to immerse ourselves in the timeless elegance and profundity of Tang poetry. From my perspective, the competition served as a commendable endeavor to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage embodied in these ancient verses. Byencouraging students to delve into the intricate nuances of Tang poetry, we were not only broadening our intellectual horizons but also fostering a deeper appreciation for the literary gems that have withstood the test of time. However, as with any event of such magnitude, there were aspects that could be further improved upon to enhance the overall experience and ensure that the competition remains relevant and engaging for future generations of students. One of the primary strengths of the competition was its ability to kindle a genuine love for Tang poetry among the participants. The meticulous selection of celebrated works, coupled with the guidance of knowledgeable instructors, created an environment conducive to exploring the profound themes, vivid imagery, and masterful craftsmanship that defined this golden age of Chinese literature. The recitation sessions, in particular, offered a captivating glimpse into the rhythm and cadence that brought these timeless verses to life.Nonetheless, I couldn't help but notice a certain disconnect between the competition's format and the evolving interests and learning styles of modern students. While the traditional methods of memorization and recitation are undoubtedly valuable, I believe there is an opportunity to incorporate moreinteractive and multimedia elements into the competition's structure. For instance, incorporating digital platforms or immersive virtual reality experiences could provide a more engaging and multisensory approach to understanding the historical and cultural contexts that birthed these literary masterpieces. Visualizing the landscapes and scenarios depicted in the poems could deepen our appreciation for the artistry and evocative power of the words themselves.Additionally, encouraging participants to create their own original works inspired by the Tang poetry tradition could foster a more personal connection with this art form. By allowing students to express their interpretations and emotions through their own poetic compositions, we would not only be honoring the legacy of the Tang poets but also nurturing the creative talents of the next generation.Furthermore, I believe that expanding the competition's scope to include interdisciplinary elements could broaden its appeal and relevance. Integrating aspects of calligraphy, music, or even visual arts could offer a more holistic celebration of the Tang dynasty's cultural richness. By exploring the interplay between various artistic expressions, students would gain adeeper understanding of the interconnectedness of these art forms and their profound influence on Chinese culture. While preserving the core essence of Tang poetry should remain a priority, I believe that embracing innovation and adapting to the evolving interests of students is crucial for sustaining the competition's longevity and impact. Striking a balance between honoring tradition and embracing modernity would ensure that this celebration of literary excellence remains relevant and captivating for years to come. Moreover, fostering a stronger sense of community and camaraderie among participants could enhance the overall experience. Encouraging collaborative projects, group discussions, or even friendly debates surrounding the interpretation and significance of specific poems could cultivate a vibrant and intellectually stimulating environment. By creating opportunities for students to engage with one another and share their unique perspectives, we would not only deepen our understanding of Tang poetry but also forge lasting connections and friendships rooted in a shared passion for literature. In addition to these suggestions, I believe it is essential to extend the competition's reach beyond the confines of our school. Establishing partnerships with local cultural institutions, universities, or even international organizations could broaden the pool of participants and facilitate cross-cultural exchanges. Inviting guest speakers, scholars, or even contemporary poets to share their insights and perspectives could inject fresh perspectives and inspire students to approach Tang poetry from diverse angles.Furthermore, leveraging social media platforms and digital marketing strategies could amplify the competition's visibility and attract a wider audience. By sharing highlights, recitations, and behind-the-scenes glimpses of the event, we could ignite a renewed interest in Tang poetry among the broader community and potentially inspire others to explore this rich literary heritage. In conclusion, the Tang poetry competition held at our school was a commendable initiative that reignited my passion for classical Chinese literature. However, to ensure its enduring relevance and impact, we must be willing to embrace innovation and adapt to the evolving needs and interests of modern students. By incorporating interactive elements, fostering a sense of community, expanding the competition's scope, and leveraging technology and digital platforms, we can not only preserve the essence of Tang poetry but also inspire a newgeneration to appreciate and contribute to this timeless cultural legacy.。

RCTs investigating the effectiveness of yoga as an adjunctive treatment for depression in adults were included. The primary outcome measure was the change in depressive symptoms from baseline to post-intervention. Secondary outcomes included anxiety symptoms, quality of life, and adverse events. Meta-analysis was performed using a random-effects model. Results: A total of [number] RCTs with [number] participants were included in the meta-analysis. The results showed that yoga, as an adjunctive treatment for depression, was associated with a significant reduction in depressive symptoms compared to control groups (standardized mean difference [SMD] = -[value], 95% confidence interval [CI]: -[lower limit] to -[upper limit], p < 0.001). Furthermore, yoga showed a significant reduction in anxiety symptoms (SMD = -[value], 95% CI: -[lower limit] to -[upper limit], p < 0.001) and improvement in quality of life (SMD = [value], 95% CI: [lower limit] to [upper limit], p = 0.001). Nosignificant adverse events were reported in any of the included studies. Conclusion: This systematic review and meta-analysis indicate that yoga, when used as an adjunctive treatment for depression, is effective in reducing depressive and anxiety symptoms and improving quality of life. Future research should focus on long-term effects and different populations to further establish the role of yoga in depression management. Keywords: yoga, depression, systematic review, meta-analysis, adjunctive treatmentIntroduction:Depression is a common mental health disorder characterized by persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and loss of interest or pleasure in daily activities. It has significant negative consequences on individuals' overall well-being, functioning, and quality of life. Current treatment options for depression mainly include pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy. However, the efficacy of antidepressant medications has limitations, and many individuals experience side effects or do not respond adequately to these treatments. Hence, there is a growing interest in complementary and alternative treatments, such as yoga, as adjunctive therapies for depression.Yoga is a mind-body practice that originated in ancient India and combines physical postures, breathing exercises, meditation, and relaxation techniques. It has gained popularity worldwide and hasbeen increasingly recognized for its potential mental health benefits. Several studies have suggested that yoga can improve mood, reduce stress, and promote overall well-being. However, the efficacy of yoga as an adjunctive treatment for depression is still a topic of debate and requires further investigation. Methods:A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. The study protocol was registered in PROSPERO database [registration number]. The primary objective was to assess the efficacy of yoga as an adjunctive treatment for depression based on RCTs. The secondary objectives were to evaluate the effects of yoga on anxiety symptoms, quality of life, and adverse events. The search strategy included the following databases: PubMed, Embase, PsycINFO, and Cochrane Library. The search strategy consisted of a combination of keywords related to yoga, depression, and RCTs. The search was limited to articles published in English. Two independent reviewers screened the titles and abstracts of the identified articles for relevance and eligibility. Full-text articles were retrieved for potentially eligible studies. Any disagreements were resolved through consensus or consultation with a third reviewer. Data regarding study characteristics, participants, intervention details, outcomes, and adverse events were extracted using a predefined extraction form. Results:A total of [number] RCTs with [number] participants met the inclusion criteria and were included in the systematic review and meta-analysis. The characteristics of included studies are summarized in Table 1. The overall quality of included studies was assessed using the Cochrane Risk of Bias tool. The meta-analysis results showed that yoga, as an adjunctive treatment for depression, was associated with a significant reduction in depressive symptoms compared to control groups (SMD = -[value], 95% CI: -[lower limit] to -[upper limit], p <0.001). Subgroup analysis by [variables] showed consistent results (Table 2). No significant adverse events were reported in any of the included studies.Discussion:The findings of this systematic review and meta-analysis suggest that yoga, as an adjunctive treatment for depression, can help reduce depressive symptoms, anxiety symptoms, and improve quality of life. The results are in line with previous studies that have reported the positive effects of yoga on mental health. The mechanisms underlying these effects could be attributed to the combination of physical activity, mindfulness, and relaxation techniques involved in yoga practice.Despite the promising results, several limitations should be considered. First, the included studies had variations in terms of yoga interventions, control groups, and outcome measures, which may impact the generalizability of the findings. Second, most studies had relatively small sample sizes, limiting the statistical power and generalizability of the results. Lastly, the included studies primarily focused on adults, and the efficacy of yoga for depression in other populations such as adolescents or older adults remains unclear. Conclusion:This systematic review and meta-analysis provide evidence supporting the use of yoga as an adjunctive treatment for depression. Yoga appears to be effective in reducing depressive and anxiety symptoms and improving quality of life. Future research should aim to overcome the limitations of the existing studies and focus on long-term effects, different populations, and comparisons with other treatment modalities to further establish the role of yoga in depression management.。

Metropolitan Univer-sityThis book is written by Todd Litman who is the executive director ofthe Victoria Transport Policy Institute,an independent research organi-zation dedicated to developing innovative solutions to transport problems. His research is used worldwide in transport planning and policy analy-sis.In this book,Litman puts in writing his experience of best prac-tice in parking management, which is a major issue for a large numberof stake holders of parking space;the car drivers who is not happy whenthere is no parking space, the government which can not afford to main-tain large number of parking space, businesses who are not happy becausethey loose their customers when there is not enough parking space, thelocal communities who are asking for better land use and better environ-ment.The book in its introduction put forward strong arguments to the stakeholders that the solution to this conflict is not about providing abundantand free parking spaces but it is about managing efficiently these parkingspaces instead. The author presents a variety of strategies that encouragemore efficient use of existing parking facilities, improve the quality of serviceprovided to parking facility users and improve parking facility design. He also argues that the strategies put forward can help address a wide range of transportation problems, land use development, economic, and environmental objectives. The author devoted292pages in this book(8Chapters,Glossary and Index)to consolidate his strate-gies and present parking management best practices.Chapter1(Introduction)emphasises that parking is an important component of the transportation system. It presents the benefits of better management of parking space on individual, businesses and communities. It also presents different strategies for parking facilities efficiency and the parking management principles. Then,in Section two,the author emphasises that parking management represents a paradigm shift from the old paradigm which strives to maximise supply and minimise price to the new paradigm which strives to provide optimal parking supply and price. It consolidates these arguments by providing summaries of cost benefit analysis.Based on this paradigm shift and the results of the cost benefit analyses, the third Section redefines the parking problem supported by an extensive comparison of the increased supply against management solutions.Chapter2(How Much is Optimal?)focuses on how to achieve the objective of the new paradigm in terms of optimal parking supply and optimal pricing. In thefirst Section of this Chapter the author highlights the problem of the planner of the parking supply who, instead of using economic theory to determine optimal parking supply to satisfy the consumers, relies on recommended minimum standards published by profes-sional organisations.Although these standards seem rational and efficient, they are developed based onvarious biases that drive towards excessive parking supply. In Section two and three, the author presents conventional standards limitations and the evidence that they lead to excessive parking supply. Then in Section four, the author presents better ways that determine how much parking to supply. He argues that it will be more efficient to use efficiency-based standards that take into account specific needs of each location and its geographic, demographic, and economic factors. He backed this Chapter with16references and information resources. In Chapter3(Factors Affecting Parking Demand and Requirements),the author argues that many parking management strategies use these factors to increase efficiency and reduce the supply of parking needed at a particular location. In Section one,it is discussed how parking demand is affected by parking facility location, type and design and how this compares with other nearby portions. In Section two it is analysed how the geography factor is affecting parking demand. For instance, residents of communities with more diverse transportation systems tend to own fewer cars and take fewer vehicle trips than in more automobile-dependent areas. The third Section is devoted to the demographic factors, which affects vehicle ownership and use where for instance communities composed of students, renters, elderly people with disability tend to own fewer cars.In the last three Sections the author discusses in details how the pricing and regulations, parking mobility management programme and time period affect the parking demands. This Chapter ends with evaluation of multiple factors and33references and information sources used by the author to consoli-date his discussion. In Chapter4(Parking Facility Costs),the author emphasises that the major benefit of parking management is the ability to reduce various parking costs. He states that the magnitude of saving is an important factor when it comes to the evaluation of parking management strategies. In thefirstfive Sections of this Chapter, the author discusses the costs of parking space in terms of land use, construction of above ground parking, operation and maintenance of parking space, transaction such as cost for equipment, signs, attendants and other associated costs. In the Section seven and eight, the author presents the total and the sunk costs for parking and put some arguments that if an efficient parking management is in place it does not only reduce these costs but provides indirect benefits. In the last three Sections, the author presents an extensive comparisons between parking costs with total development costs and other transaction costs and he also highlights the implication of under priced costs. This Chapter ends with18references and information resources.Chapter5(Parking Management Strategies)is the largest Chapter where three strategies are described and evaluated extensively:strategies that increase parking facilities efficiency, strategies that reduce park-ing demand and support strategies. Each strategy is described in details including its impacts on parking demand and requirements, its benefit, costs and consumer impacts, where it could be best applied, how it could be implemented and its lists of useful reference and source of additional information. This Chapter is the core of this book where the author lays out his extensive experience and best practice that could be used by planners to implement an efficient parking management strategy. In this Chapter there are109references and information sources for the strategies that increase parking facilities efficiency,102references and infor-mation resources for strategies that reduce parking demand and76references and information resources for support strategies.Chapter6(Developing an Integrated Parking Plan)provides a clear and concise methodology for developing an integrated parking plan that includes an optimal combination of complementary management strategies. It describes the steps for an efficient planning process, providing leadership for innovation and cost benefits analysis in terms additional income, cost saving and increased benefits to users and community. These steps are enhanced with real world example to support the planner in his decisions. This Chapter ends with15 references and information resources.Chapter7(Evaluating Individual Parking Facilities)equips the planner with tools which can help to evalu-ate specific parking facilities in terms of various parking performance indicators and management strategies. This Chapter is enriched with many examples of well designed and efficiently managed parking facilities in contrast to unattractive and poorly managed parking facilities. This Chapter is another additional incentiveand supports the planner for better innovation when there is a need for planning or designing new parking facilities. This Chapter ends with16references and information resources.Chapter8(Examples)is devoted to description of examples/case studies of the various types of parking management. The study includes the description of the situation,a discussion on how practically the park-ing management could be applied, and also the list of appropriate parking management strategies best suited for that situation. This Chapter ends with16references and information resources.Glossary contains a rich set of terms related to Parking Management.Additional Chapter of References contains46references and information resources, which are relevant to the whole area considered in this book. The book is ended with Index on7pages.Parking Management Best Practices,By Todd Litman2006,292p.,Hardcover,ISBN:978-1-932364-05-7Publisher’s recommended price:69.95USDReport on IEEE Trans.on Intelligent Transportation Systems by Alberto BroggiTransactions EiC report, updated June1,2007Number of submissions:The number of submissions is increasing:167in2004,157in2005,234in2006,and97in thefirst5 months of2007.Rapid posting:All papers appear on Explore before being printed, thanks to rapid posting.Authors have expressed interest in this way of disseminating their results independently of the actual publication. Please be advised that authors can post their papers on their websites provided they add the specific disclaimer supplied by IEEE.Special Issues:The following special issues are under way:-special issue on On-the-road Mobile Networks-special issue on ITSC06Type of accepted manuscripts:From Jan1,2007,T-ITS accepts the following type of manuscripts:-regular papers-short papers(formerly known as’technical correspondences’)-survey papers(formerly known as’reviews’)-practitioners papersMaximum number of pages:From the2007September issue, the policy on the maximum number of pages will change:regular papers will be allowed10pages,short papers and practitioners papers6,while there will be no limit to survey papers. application of novel multisensory testbeds forcollection, synchronization, archival, and analysis of multimodal data for health monitoring oftransportation infrastructures. The framework for data capture from vision and seismic sensorsis described, and the important issue of synchronization between these modalities is addressed.Computer-vision algorithms are used to detect and track vehicles and extract their properties. It isnoted that the video and seismic sensors in the testbed supply complementary information aboutpassing vehicles.Data fusion between features obtained from these modalities is used to per-form vehicle classification.Experimental results of vehicle detection, tracking, and classificationobtained with these testbeds are described.Page(s):169-180Digital Object characteristics such asflow, density, and space mean speed(SMS)arecritical to Intelligent Transportation Systems(ITS).For example, flow is a direct measure ofthroughput, density is an ideal indicator of traffic conditions, and SMS is the primary input tocompute travel times. An attractive method to compute traffic-flow characteristics in ITS isexpected to meet the following criteria:1)It should be a one-stop solution, meaning it involvesonly one type of sensor that is able to determineflow,SMS,and density;2)it should be accurate, meaning it determines these characteristics by definition rather than by estimation or by usingsurrogates;3)it should preserve the fundamental relationship amongflow,SMS,and density;and4)it should be compatible with ITS,meaning it uses ITS data and supports online application.Existing methods may be good for one or some of the above criteria, but none satisfies all ofthem. This paper tackles the challenge by formulating a method, called the n−t method, whichaddresses all these criteria. Its accuracy and the fundamental relationship are guaranteed byapplying a generalized definition of traffic-flow characteristics.Inputs to the method are time-stamped traffic counts which happen to be the strength of most ITS systems. Some empiricalexamples are provided to demonstrate the performance of the n−t method.Page(s):181-187Digital Object paper,we suggested a vision-based traffic accident detection algorithm and developed a system for automatically detecting, recording, and reporting traffic accidents at inter-sections.A system with these properties would be beneficial in determining the cause of accidents and the features of an intersection that impact safety. This modelfirst extracts the vehicles from the video image of the charge-couple-device camera, tracks the moving vehicles(MVs),and ex-tracts features such as the variation rate of the velocity, position, area, and direction of MVs.The model then makes decisions on the traffic accident based on the extracted features. In afield test, the suggested model achieved a correct detection rate(CDR)of50%and a detection rate of 60%.Considering that a sound-based accident detection system showed a CDR of1%and a DR of66.1%,our result is a remarkable achievement.Page(s):188-194Digital Object Identifier10.1109/TITS.2006.890070AbstractPlus—Full Text:PDF(506KB)Rights and are pre-sented.Based on the assumption of constant driving speed,a second-order nonlinear lateral dynamics model is obtained.Local stability and existence conditions for saddle-node bifurcation appearing in vehicle dynamics with respect to the variations in front wheel steering angle are then derived via system linearization and local bifurcation analysis.Bifurcation phenomena occurring in vehicle lateral dynamics might result in spin and/or system instability.A perturbation method is employed to solve for an approximation of system equilibrium near the zero value of the front wheel steering angle, which reveals the relationship between sideslip angle and the applied front wheel angle.Numerical simulations from an example model demonstrate the theoretical results. AchillesAchilles is a figure of Homer's Epic. Homer lived around 700 BC. It is said that Homer's epic is written by a blind poet Homer, but in fact, it is a collective oral creation of many folk singer. As historical materials, it reflects the social conditions of the 11th century BC to the 9th century BC. Homer epic has concise language, vivid plot, bright figure images , and rigorous structure and it is a famous masterpiece of the ancient world. Achilles is one of its figure.Achilles is the son of Peleus and Thetis. Peleus was the king of the part of the Thessaly and Thetis is a sea nymph. He born in the war time in the Greek area. At that time, there were a lot of wars between many countries. His mother is the daughter of Nereus, the god of sea, so she was immortalized, and she hope her son also can be immortalized. After the birth of Achilles, Thetis held his ankle immersing him in the river Styx to make him invulnerability, but only the ankle the place where Thetis held is an exception. That is why he died for the arrow that shot into his heel in the end. When Achilles was a child, he learned a lot of herbal medicine and combat skills. So he became very strong when he grew up. Achilles has a handsome face and strong muscles. He was famous for his courage, handsome looking, and physical strength. At that time, He was the most dazzling hero.In the war of Troy, there were two brothers who fought with him, theprinces of Troy Hector and Paris. Hector is a really hero I think. He loves his country and people and he was brave enough fighting with Achilles for his country. But Paris was incapable in my opinion. His country’s suffering was caused by him but he did not have courage to fight for his people. He just hided behind his brother. Although he became brave later,I also don’t like him. Among this three figures, I like Achilles most not only because he is brave and competent but also because he has rebellious spirit and don’t submit to the secular and fight for himself.Achilles are very brave and good at fighting. He won a lot of wars in the battle. When Greek attacked Troy, under Achilles leading, they won several battles. But because Agamemnon took away the female servant who he captured from Troy and also who he loved with, he left battle camp angrily and refused to attend war. Then Greek army failed all the time. Even if Agamemnon sent somebody to ask for forgiveness, but he still kept indifferent. At last Achilles’bosom friend Patroclus wore the bardes of Achilles to attend the war. But Patroclus was killed by Hector. And that aroused Achilles’ feeling of fighting. He rushed to the Troy and found Hector to fight. They fought a long time and Hector was in a inferior position. In the end, Achilles killed Hector and dragged his body to the Greek camp. That listens cruelly and actually Achilles did had done so many slaughter. But from he coming back to attend battle for revenging to his friend, we can see he is a man who values the friendship.About his love, he fell in love with a girl when he attacked Troy. The girl is the cousin of Hector and Paris and she was serving for the god. When he conquered the Temple of Apollo, he took the girl back. And he was attracted by the girl’s courage and beauty, then they fell in love with each other. But the girl is the niece of the king of Troy, so they can’t stay together. Later the girl was taken back to Troy by the king of Troy. Eventually Greek won the war for they used Trojan horse. When the city of Troy was in a chaos and Greek army would come back to Greek, Achilles came to city of Troy to find the girl. When he found the girl was hurt on the ground and he came to arm her, Paris shot an arrow to him and the arrow was right shot at his heel. Finally he died. That was predicted and he also already knew it.Although many people don’t like this figure in the Homer's Epic and think that he had done too much slaughter and was too cruel, I like him very much. I like him because he has unique character. He is brave, values the friendship and love, and has the rebellious spirit. He looked down upon the world and fought for himself. And I think he is quite unique.。

Reflections and Suggestions on the Poetry Recitation Competition Focusing on TangPoemsIn the recent past, the Tang Poetry Recitation Competition has garnered immense popularity, not only among the Chinese community but also among individuals who appreciate the beauty and depth of ancient Chinese literature. This competition serves as a testament to the timeless elegance and profound wisdom embedded in Tang poetry, making it relevant even in today's fast-paced and technology-driven world. The competition not only highlights the rich vocabulary and rhythmic flow of Tang poems but also brings to light the deeper cultural and historical context behind each verse. Participants, ranging from young students to seasoned literature enthusiasts, compete to recite Tang poems with passion and accuracy, showcasing their understanding of the poems' meanings and their appreciation for their artistic value. One of the most显著aspects of this competition is the diversity of participants. It is not limited to a specificage group or demographic, allowing individuals from different backgrounds to participate and appreciate the beauty of Tang poetry. This diversity not only broadens the reach of the competition but also encourages cross-cultural understanding and appreciation. However, despite its many positives, there are also areas where the Tang Poetry Recitation Competition could improve. Firstly, the competition could benefit from a more inclusive selection of poems. While many famous Tang poems are often recited, there is a vast repository of lesser-known but equally profound poems that could be included. This would not only enrich the competition but also introduce participants and viewers to a wider range of poetic styles and themes.Secondly, the competition format could be more innovative. While the traditional recitation format is respected, introducing modern elements such as multimedia presentations or interactive performances could make the competition more engaging and accessible to a younger audience. This could potentially attract more participants and viewers, especially those who might be interested inTang poetry but are hesitant to participate due to its perceived traditionalist nature.Lastly, the competition could provide moreopportunities for participants to interact and learn from each other. Organizers could consider including workshops or seminars where participants can share their experiences, learn recitation techniques, and discuss the deeper meanings of the poems. This would create a more inclusive and collaborative environment, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of Tang poetry among all participants. In conclusion, the Tang Poetry Recitation Competition is a valuable initiative that showcases the beauty and depth of Tang poetry. It encourages individuals from different backgrounds to appreciate and understand this ancient form of literature, promoting cross-cultural understanding and appreciation. However, to ensure its continued relevance and growth, the competition should consider including a more diverse selection of poems, innovating its format, and providing opportunities for participants to interact and learn from each other. Bydoing so, the Tang Poetry Recitation Competition will continue to thrive and inspire individuals from all walksof life to appreciate the beauty and wisdom embedded inTang poetry.**对唐诗比赛的看法和建议**近年来,唐诗朗诵比赛备受瞩目,不仅在中国社区中受到热烈欢迎,也吸引了那些欣赏古代中国文学之美和深度的个人。

Let's do this!篇4My Big Adventure in the Cybersecurity Olympics!Hi friends! My name is Tommy and I'm a 5th grader at Oakdale Elementary School. I have a really cool story to share with you about this awesome cybersecurity competition I entered called the CyberSpartans Olympics. It was so much fun and I learned a ton of awesome stuff about protectingcomputers and the internet from bad guys trying to do bad things. Let me tell you all about my exciting adventure! It all started a few months ago when my computer teacher, Mr. Lopez, told our class about the CyberSpartans Olympics. He said it was this huge online competition where kids from all around the world would compete by solving cybersecurity challenges and puzzles. Things like cracking codes, finding computer bugs, and stopping pretend hackers! As soon as he mentioned hackers and codes, my eyes lit up. That kind of spy computer stuff always seemed so cool to me from the movies and video games I've seen.Mr. Lopez could see I was really interested, so he pulled me aside after class and told me I should really think about entering. He said with my coding skills and knack for solving puzzles, I might just have what it takes to be a cybersecurity warrior! I was totally flattered that he thought I could compete at that level. But part of me was also really nervous. This seemed like a pretty big deal with other kids from around the globe. What if the challenges were too hard for me? I didn't want to embarrass myself on that kind of stage. Mr. Lopez could see I was apprehensive, so he broke it down for me."Tommy, this isn't just about who is the best coder or has the highest tech skills," he said. "It's also a chance to learn and have fun while getting exposed to really important computer safety concepts." He went on to explain how cybersecurity, or keeping data and systems secure, is a huge priority today with how much of our lives are online and connected. Bad actors are constantly trying to hack accounts, steal information, or disrupt systems for bad reasons. Having skilled cyber defenders is crucial for protecting people, companies, governments and the entire internet. From banking information to national secrets, we rely on cybersecurity experts to guard our digital world. That's when it really clicked for me why this was such an big deal. By learning cybersecurity skills, I could actually be helping make the internet safer for everyone! How cool is that? I could be like one of those science heroes using their knowledge to help people. Except instead of coding the next big app, I'd be coding to stop the cyber burglars and bandits. Sign me up!I stayed after school that day and had Mr. Lopez sign me up for the CyberSpartans Olympics. As soon as I got home, I hit the books...or I guess the cyber-books? I watched all kinds of video tutorials and read articles to learn as much as I could about cybersecurity fundamentals. Things like encryption, networksecurity, identifying cyber threats. It was pretty complex stuff, but Mr. Lopez was right - I was able to pick it up pretty quickly when I put my mind to it.Finally, after weeks of training, it was time for the big competition to begin! On a Friday night, I logged into the secure CyberSpartans site and confirmed mycode name: RaspberryPython7 (my favorite snack and coding language). An automated proctorChecked my system was locked down and I didn't have any prohibited programs running to cheat. When the clock struck 7pm, the challenges started being released one by one.The first few were pretty straightforward codebreaking and cryptography warm-ups. Identifying patterns, swapping letters, that kind of thing. Still, it felt so intense and high stakes! I was video chatting with a couple friends, and every time I'd crack one, we'd cheer like our soccer team scored a goal. As the night wore on though, the challenges got seriously hard! Oh man, I don't think I've ever had to rack my brain like that before. One challenge had me scouring the deep web (a secret part of the internet) for a hacker's unprotected server, then using code to upload a faux-virus and disable it. Another had me Watching network data streams to detect the digital fingerprintsof a potential intruder. For the real stumpers, I'd reference my pages of cybersecurity notes or watch video tutorials for hints. A few times I hit a brick wall and had to use one of my "lifelines" to get a small hint from an adult proctor. I made sure not toover-use those, because running out penalized your score! The hours just melted away as I sweated through each new brain-teaser. Before I knew it, it was 3am and the conclusion buzzer sounded! I'd been so laser-focused, I hardly stopped for food or even bathroom breaks. I gave it my absolute all, working right until the final second to maximize my score. When it was all done, I just collapsed into my bed, totally drained but also exhilarated. What an insane mental marathon!A couple weeks later, the results were posted online. Out of thousands of kids from dozens of countries, I had placed 124th globally!! I couldn't believe it! Sure, I didn't crack the top 100. But considering this was my first time, competing against kids way older than me, I was absolutely thrilled with my performance. In my grade bracket, I had even placed 11th in the world! My parents were incredibly proud and framed my bronze medal certificate on our wall.More importantly though, I had learned so much about cybersecurity and had such a fun, rewarding experience. Thevaluable skills I picked up will help me whether I want to be a programmer, computer technician or even dream of being a real cyber defense wizard someday. Protecting the internet and people's data is extremely important work.So if you're reading this and love a great challenge, I highly encourage you to enter the next CyberSpartans Olympics! It's a great chance to put your coding and problem-solving abilities to the test in a high-stakes but fun environment. You'll learn tons about cryptography, system vulnerabilities, digital forensics and so much more. Who knows, you might really surprise yourself like I did and discover you have an aptitude for cybersecurity!Just be ready to put in some serious practice time. The challenges are no joke! But that preparation and sense of accomplishment you'll get after conquering them is absolutely worth it. It's okay if you're nervous at first - I definitely was. But trust me, once you get in the groove of analyzing clues and cracking codes, it'll feel like a fun video game more than anything. Just don't stay up decrypting till 4am before a school night like me. Ooopsie! At the end of the day though, win or lose, you'll be helping the world in a small way. Because the more kids who get interested and skilled up in cybersecurity, the more heroes we'llhave to protect the internet and people's privacy for years to come. We're all part of the cyber safety mission! So whatdya say, who wants to join me for the next CyberSpartans? Between you and me, I'm aiming for that #1 global spot this year!
