The Challenges of Globalization

The Challenges of Globalization Globalization presents a myriad of challenges that affect various aspects of our lives, including economic, social, and cultural dimensions. One of the major challenges of globalization is the widening income inequality between the rich and the poor. As global trade and investment continue to expand, the gap between the wealthy and the impoverished has also grown, leading to social unrest andinstability in many parts of the world. In addition to income inequality, globalization has also led to the homogenization of cultures. As Western culture, particularly American culture, becomes increasingly dominant in the global arena, traditional and indigenous cultures are at risk of being eroded. This not only diminishes the diversity of our world but also threatens the preservation ofunique cultural heritage. Moreover, globalization has contributed to environmental degradation and resource depletion. The increased demand for goods and services has put immense pressure on the environment, leading to deforestation, pollution, and the depletion of natural resources. This poses a significant threat to the sustainability of our planet and the well-being of future generations. Furthermore, globalization has resulted in the outsourcing of jobs to countries with lower labor costs, leading to unemployment and job insecurity in developed countries. This has fueled anti-globalization sentiments and protectionist policies, further complicating international relations and trade agreements. Another challenge of globalization is the spread of diseases and pandemics. The interconnectedness of the world has facilitated the rapid spread of infectious diseases, as seen in the case of the COVID-19 pandemic. This poses a significant threat to global health security and requires coordinated international efforts to mitigate the impact of such crises. Lastly, the dominance of multinational corporations in the global economy has raised concerns about corporate power and accountability. The influence of these entities on government policies and regulations has led to issues such as tax evasion, labor exploitation, and environmental degradation, highlighting the need for stronger global governanceand corporate responsibility. In conclusion, the challenges of globalization are complex and multifaceted, impacting various aspects of our world. Addressing these challenges requires international cooperation, effective governance, and acommitment to sustainable and equitable development. Only by acknowledging and actively working to mitigate these challenges can we harness the potential benefits of globalization while minimizing its negative consequences.。

英语六级历年阅读题及答案

2010年6月阅读Section BDirections: There are 2 passages in this section. Each passage is followed by some questions or unfinished statements. For each of them there are four choices marked A), B), C) and D). You should decide on the best choice and mark the corresponding letter on Answer Sheet2 with a single line through the centre.Passage OneQuestions 51 to 56 are based on the following passage.Only two countries in the advanced world provide no guarantee for paid leave from work to care for a newborn child. Last spring one of the two, Australia, gave up the dubious distinction by establishing paid family leave starting in 2011. I wasn't surprised when this didn't make the news here in the United States—we're now the only wealthy country without such a policy. The United States does have one explicit family policy, the Family and Medical Leave Act, passed in 1993. It entitles workers to as much as 12 weeks' unpaid leave for care of a newborn or dealing with a family medical problem. Despite the modesty of the benefit, the Chamber of Commerce and other business groups fought it bitterly, describing it as "government-run personnel management" and a "dangerous precedent". In fact, every step of the way, as (usually) Democratic leaders have triedto introduce work-family balance measures into the law, business groups have been strongly opposed. As Yale law professor Anne Alstott argues, justifying parental support depends on defining the family as a social good that, in some sense, society must pay for. In her book No Exit: What Parents Owe Their Children and What Society Owes Parents, she argues that parents are burdened in many ways in their lives: there is "no exit" when it comes to children. "Society expects—and needs—parents to provide their children with continuity of care, meaning the intensive, intimate care that human beings need to develop their intellectual, emotional and moral capabilities. And society expects—and needs—parents to persist in their roles for 18 years, or longer if needed."While most parents do this out of love, there are public penalties for not providing care. What parents do, in other words, is of deep concern to the state, for the obvious reason that caring for children is not only morally urgent but essential for the future of society. The state recognizes this in the large body of family laws that govern children' welfare, yet parents receive little help in meeting the life-changing obligations society imposes. To classify parenting as a personal choice for which there is no collective responsibility is not merely to ignore the social benefits of good parenting; really, it is to steal those benefits because they accrue (不断积累) to the whole of society as today's children become tomorrow'sproductive citizenry (公民). In fact, by some estimates, the value of parental investments in children, investments of time and money (including lost wages), is equal to 20-30% of gross domestic product. If these investments generate huge social benefits—as they clearly do—the benefits of providing more social support for the family should be that much clearer.注意:此部分试题请在答题卡2上作答。

Leadership in the age of globalization
——Focus on people Management 1 Wensong Ma Dr. E Ilse Oorthuis 2012-09-12 Vivi Qin
Nowadays, in the case of the global economy of the leadership of globalization also growing.Dr. .Angel Cabrera said that, globalization requirements of the 21st century world, ask business leaders become politicians + entrepreneurs + social activist + negotiations + coach. Many hopes, but unfortunately the Western moral crisis along with the spread of globalization to the world. So,our group will talk something about the diversity leadership between Netherland and China.
As this part, we will analysis the leader in China.
First, the leader in China is always the old one.Specially in the typical Chinese company.like some of my friends, they had already worked in the company,70%of their leader are more than 45 years old or more.
Something else is that most of the Chinese leader is serious,as you know, after work time, the leader is always the leader. In the vacation, there are many things did not finished, and the leader ask you to come back office finish it now,you also have to do it, without any payment. If you rufuse it, that's means you lose the work. So,in my eyes, all of Chinese are busy all the time, even though, the walking pace is much more faster. But the European are more enjoy themself.
What's more,Chinese leader are focus on person's degree, you should have a high degree, that's means you will find a good job as you expect. And then you can win more trust in leadership.Always,Chinese leadership is combine economist with polities.
Contract and Suggestions
However,60 cultures around the world, he most popular style of leadership: reliable, flexible, Motivation, intelligent, decisive, reliable, teamwork, etc., regardless of the Eastern world or the Western world, we all respected recognition, consensus. The most unpopular leadership style: uncooperative, moody, selfish, rude, dictatorial,
self-centered, etc., these are also the leader of the East and the West should pay
attention to the leading way to overcome and avoid.
1、The overall situation is bolder, more cautious detail.
Successful leader are often decisive, bold strategic direction, and the care and attention on the details, "strategic defiance of the enemy, the tactical importance enemy" strategy contempt means to have guts and courage to challenge the enemy, the tactical importancemeans sufficient care and attention to keep specific strategies.
2、Smooth adaptation to the environment + heart principled.
Foreign sleek upright heart, abide by the principle of their own hearts, the special qualities and characteristics of successful leaders need to have.this sentence, but also reflects the profound culture of the East and the West, thinking characteristic differences of worldwide corporate leadership impact.
3、Focus on person
What we think most important thing is that leader have to focus on the people, focus on the employee.People is the most important resource in the world.so,whatever, leaders you are, also the human you are, what decide you made, have to respect the employees. We think leader have to focus on person.
