Went home, slept a night over it and decided that I have to find a way to break the ice with this lady. The very next day I bought some nice chocolate praying to see her again and when I caught sight of her, went straight to her and apologized telling her “I am so very sorry if I angered you, I had no such intention, please accept my apologizes”, and handled her the chocolate. Surprised, she told me not to mind her, and apologized too. It was an awkward moment, but we made peace and the grimaces换成embarrassment is/ are replaced by smiles now.I am very grateful for this experience, it shows me I still have plenty of work to do with my mind, I learned how it is not easy to take knowledge of, accept and forgive acts that we may feel as unfair, and it taught me of possibilities about fixing a conflict. These days, you can have much more fun with your stamps. You can buy them online instead of going to the post office. You can decorate, preview (预览) and print your stamps all at your own home. You are able to use any of your own photos as part of your postage stamp as well. These stamps aren’t just allowed to be used in the United States; they can be used to send your mail throughout the world. Scientists say that, if the clearing continues, monarch butterflies will not use the reserve as their winter home. For thousands of years, the butterflies have been flying to the same forests. Their trip goes along Canada and the northeastern United States. It is about four thousand eight hundred kilometers. The insects fly about eighty kilometers a day. They are part of a new addiction called Internet addiction. Internet addicts spend at least thirty to forty hours online every week. The use of the Internet can be an addiction like drug use. People lose control of the time they spend on the Internet. For example, one college student was missing for several days. His friends were worried, and they called the police. The police found the student in the computer lab: he was surfing the net for several days straight.Studies show that about 6 to 10% of Internet users become addicted. And people worry about the teens because the Internet is changing the playing field for some of them. They spend more time in cyberspace than in the real world of friends and family. Is “surfing the net” a hobby or an addiction for you? You may have a problem if you have these symptoms(症状):●You do not go to important family activities or you do not do school work because you like to spend hours on the Internet.●You can‟t wait for your next online time.●You plan to spend a short time online, but then you spend several hours.●You go out with your friends less and less.29.What does the beginning of the passage tell us?A.How to become an Internet addict.B.Where to find an Internet addict.C.What an Internet addict usually does.D.Why to write this passage.30 How doe s the writer describe the addicts‟ use of Internet?A.It is good for their life.B.It is a way of producing drugs.C.It is terrible to imagine.D.It is like taking drugs.31.The example in the passage shows that _______.A.Internet problems are more serious among college studentsB.Internet addicts usually stay in the computer lab without sleepC.Some of the Internet users have already been seriously addictedD.The police often help to find those Internet addicts.32.What is the writer trying to tell us at the end of the passage?A.Don‟t be addicted to the Internet.B.Go to family activities more often.C.Do things as you have plannedD.Stay with your parents as often as possible.D“Drink your milk. It‟s good for you!” You‟ve probably heard that many times, and it‟s true. Milk contains calcium (Ca), which is a necessary nutrient(营养) for keeping bones and teeth healthy and strong. The U.S. government even requires milk as part of the National School Lunch Program, saying that students should drink one cup of fat-free or low-fat milk at each meal.Last Thursday, however, a group of doctors asked the government to take milk out of the lunch program. The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM)says, “Milk is high in sugar, high in fat and high in animal protein, all of which have unhealthy effects on health.” “One of the only reasons people prefer milk is that it is going to help build strong bones,” says Dr. Neal Barnard, president of the PCRM. There are better and healthier ways to get calcium such as eating beans, broccoli, cereals and tofu. Orange juice and soy milk that have calcium added to them also provide the nutrient.Of course, calcium is important for healthy bones and teeth, but your genes, how much vi tamin you take in and getting an hour‟s worth of exercise every day all play a part. Some nutritionists disagree with the idea that milk isn‟t important.
