When Sarah Hansen first came to Bonnie Schlachte’s ballet studio, she jokingly called herself a “weeble-w obble,” telling her ballet teacher that when she tried to walk, she would fall. “She couldn’t walk across the room without holding on to something,” recalls Schlachte. “She would immediately fall.”
Hansen was only in middle-school, but a progressive neurological disease was hindering her ability to walk, let alone do ballet. But Hansen had a tenacious spirit and desperately wanted to learn ballet. Hansen joined in weekly group classes at Schlachte’s ballet studio called Ballet for all Kids, a studio that teaches children with disabilities. Soon after she began classes and private lessons, her family saw a vast improvement in her ability to move.
She worked tirelessly in the studio, focusing on what her instructor wanted from her. “At the time, her foot would n’t fully rest on the floor,” explains Schlachte. “That’s why she couldn’t stand on her own, there was no support.” Schlachte pushed her student, explaining to Hansen that her brain has neuroplasticity(可塑性) so eventually it will receive the message.
As a mom, a classically trained ballerina, and holding a degree in psychology, Bonnie Schlachte was the perfect person to push Hansen to do her best. Schlachte put herself through college with dance and theater scholarships. After graduation, she came across an opportunity with children with developmental disabilities. She fell in love and chose to focus on jobs in that field.
Years later, Schlachte found herself watching and celebrating Hansen, who at one point could barely walk, was now moving across the floor on her own two feet. “One day, her ankle dropped, and she put her whole foot on the ground,” says Schlachte. “I was crying, her mom was crying, it was a great moment.”

Do you know sand has been used to draw pictures since ancient times? Today, sand-painting, an interesting art, will be produced to you.
Sand-painting is an art of using the sand to make a fixed or unfixed painting. Maybe we all played fixed sand-painting as we were young. We first painted a simple picture, then we brushed glue (胶水) to the section, and at last we poured colored sand onto the glue in order to make it fixed.
Unfixed sand-paintings have a long cultural history around the world. People poured sand on a surface to make paintings or use some tools to draw pictures in the sand directly. They are often temporary(临时的). Different people draw sand-paintings to express different meanings: love of nature, admiration for God or love of beauty.
Nowadays, sand-painting becomes a performance art and its popularity has risen. On the stages, sand-painting performers make a series of images by drawing lines and figures in the sand with their fingers and hands. The series of images are used to tell a story.
Kseniya Simonova, who is from Ukraine, is one of the greatest sand-painting performers in the world. People call her “The Lady of the Sand”.
Simonova said that she never dreamed she’d become a sand artist, and when she began practicing, she nearly gave it up. But she persevered, caring for a household and her baby by day and training every night. You Are Always Nearby is one of the most famous performances of Simonova. It is a story about a young couple separated by a war in which the solider is tragically killed, but returns in spirit to watch over his wife and child. This performance makes all audience cry.
Art is everywhere and is not far away from common people. Art of painting is in our life, even in the sand.

Digital technology - email and smart phones especially-have vastly improved workers' ability to be productive outside of a traditional office. Even so, most white-collar work still happens in an office. One reason is that, according to findings of a new survey of office workers conducted by Wakefield Research for the IT company Citrix, most bosses are doubtful about remote working. Half of the workers say their boss doesn't accept it, and only 35 percent say it's tolerated.
Skeptical bosses will likely have their doubts reinforced (加深)by the same survey, which shows that 43 percen t of workers say they've watched TV or a movie while “working” remotely, while 35 percent have done housework, and 28 percent have cooked dinner.
It is true, however, that working at home makes people much more efficient, because it allows workers to take c are of annoying housework while still getting their jobs done. It’s much faster, for example, to shop for groceries at a quarter to three than to stand in line during the after-work rush.
The fact that such practices remain officially unaccepted reflects how far we haven't come as a society from the days when we expected every full-time worker to be supported by a full-time homemaker.
More broadly the Wakefield survey suggests that employers may be missing a low-cost way to give workers something of value. Sixty-four percent of those survey participants who haven't worked remotely would rather give up some bonus(红利)in order to get even one day a week working from home. Under such circumstances, smart firms need to find ways to let their employees have enough ability to change or be changed easily to suit a different situation to manage their time efficiently.
33.Why do some employers hesitate to allow remote working?
A. They are used to face-to-face communication.
B. They want to stick to their routine practice.
C. They have little trust in modern technology.
D. They fear losing control of their workers
34.What seems to be most workers' attitude toward remote working?
A. Favorable.
B. Doubtful
C. Unsatisfied
D. Disapproving.
35.What does the author suggest smart firms do?
A. Shorten their office hours.
B. Give employees a pay raise.
C. Adopt flexible work patterns.
D. Reduce their employees’ workload.
