We all know that the International Biology Olympiad (IBO) is an international academic competition for high school students to enhance their knowledge and skills in biology. China is one of the participating countries in the competition since 1994.
Over the past 26 years, Chinese students have achieved remarkable results in the IBO, making outstanding contributions to China's education. According to statistics, Chinese students have ranked among the top ten awards 27 times and have won four gold medals as of 2019. Furthermore, in the 2019 IBO competition, three gold medals, five silver medals and three bronze medals were won by Chinese students, making China the third country with the most medals and ranking only second to the United States and Iran.
The remarkable achievements in the IBO not only reflect the strength and development of China's education, but also reflect the hard work of Chinese students. As both the teaching level and students’
international learning ability are getting strengthened, the teaching reform is also making great progress. In the past, Chinese students had difficulties in attending the international competition due to learning deficiency. While with the development of the education system, Chinese students have acquired more abilities to learn and apply biology knowledge in an international platform.
Chinese students’ outstanding performances in IBO are worthy of high praise as they have done a great job in exploring and interpreting the mysteries of biology. With the thorough study from international teachers, they learned more cross-cultural knowledge and eventually achieved great success.
The strong performance in IBO competition is a testimony to China’s educational d evelopment and a sign of the country’s great potential. At
the same time, the excellent results demonstrate the ambition and the high level of science education that Chinese students have reached. China's achievements in the IBO are commendable and will continue to serve as a positive influence on the country’s science education.。
