加入社区志愿者自荐信的英语作文
My Name is Jamie and I'm 10 Years Old
I want to be a community volunteer because I love helping people and making my neighborhood a better place! My parents always tell me that no matter how little you are, you can still make a big difference by being kind and working hard.
Last year, my class did a project where we helped pick up litter around the school. I was amazed by how much trash was just lying around - candy wrappers, plastic bottles, even an old bicycle tire! It made me sad to see our nice playground areas looking so messy. Our teacher told us that litter is bad for the environment andcan hurt animals if they try to eat it by mistake.
So I got really into picking up every gum wrapper, straw, and plastic bag I could find. My friends and I had a competition to see who could collect the most litter, and I won by filling up three whole trash bags! It felt good to get my hands dirty and clean up the mess. By the end, our playground looked 100% better.
After that, I started carrying around a little bag to pick up trash wherever I went - the grocery store parking lot, the park near my house, even just walking down the street. My parents were impressed by how serious I was about it. My dad says I'm
like a "minis trash collector" and mom jokes that she's going to buy me one of those stick tools to pick things up without bending over.
I try to recycle as much as I can too. We have bins for paper, plastic, and glass at my house. I'm always bugging my parents and little brother to not just toss out bottles, boxes and cans wherever. It's become sort of my job to separate the recycling into the right bins. I've even started bringing extra plastic containers and bags from home to my friends' houses so they can start recycling too! Some of them thought I was weird at first, but now they're into it.
Another way I try to help out is by doing nice things for the elderly people living on my street. There's a couple houses down with an older lady who has a hard time getting her trashcan down to the curb every week because she walks with a cane. So I started taking her trash can out to the curb on trash day, and bringing it back in after it's been emptied. Whenever she sees me coming, she meets me at the door with a couple of fresh-baked cookies as a thank you. They're delicious!
There's also a man across the street who has a lot of trees in his yard that drop leaves and branches everywhere in the fall. It's a lot of raking for someone his age, so sometimes I'll go over and
rake up some of the piles for him. He always gives me a few dollars or some s candy which I appreciate, but I honestly just like helping him out.
My grandparents live pretty close by, so I'm over at their house a lot too. They have a big vegetable garden that they can't always keep up with. So I put in some hours there when I can - weeding the garden beds, watering the plants, picking the ripe veggies. We've had some amazing salads, soups and side dishes from the fruits (and veggies!) of my labor. I feel good knowing I played a part in growing something instead of just buying it from the grocery store.
Grandma has also taught me how to knit and crochet. We've made a bunch of little blankets, hats and other things to donate to the nursery at the hospital where she volunteers. I can't always make it when she does her volunteering, but I contribute what I can from home. This winter we made about 20 hats that I dropped off with her to give to all the newborn babies.
So those are the main things I've been up to as an unofficial community volunteer so far. I really take pride in trying to keep my surroundings clean, giving assisting to those who need an extra hand, growing healthy food, and making handmade items to donate. I feel like I'm making at least a little positive impact.
But I want to do more! There's a local program I'm really interested in joining that would make me an official volunteer. They have all kinds of cool activities and projects that I could get involved with.
One of the things I'd love to help out with is taking care of the gardens and green spaces around town. I'd be so excited to help plant new trees or flowers somewhere to make our community more beautiful. And maintaining gardens, whether it's at a school, a park, or other public space, would be great experience.
I'd also enjoy participating in community clean up days, or joining in on efforts to keep our beaches, rivers and hiking trails free of litter. Getting outside to spend time in nature while clearing away trash that could hurt animals and make the scenery ugly is hard work but rewarding.
Another area I'm interested in is hunger relief and serving food to those in need. I know there are a lot of people, even kids, who don't have reliable access to enough nutritious food. So I'd be honored to have the opportunity to help prepare or hand out meals to the homeless and less fortunate families. Getting hands-on experience with addressing food insecurity would be really meaningful.
Speaking of helping other kids, I'd love to spend some time encouraging literacy and reading fun books to younger children. Having a caring role model who enjoys books can make such a difference in inspiring the next generation to appreciate reading.
I could also lend a hand with youth sports teams and recreational programs. Being an assistant coach or referee to help facilite active playtime would be awesome. Keeping kids engaged in exercise and alternatives to just sitting around could have great benefits.
Additionally, I think it would be impactful to get involved with efforts to support military families and veterans in the community. Writing letters, creating care packages, visiting with vets, or helping to fund-raise for assistance programs would all be valuable ways to contribute.
Those are just some of the areas I'd be excited to participate in, but I'm open to any kind of hands-on volunteering opportunity that allows me to better my community. I'm a hard worker who will take every task seriously. I won't goof around or get distracted. And I have a passion for helping others and giving back.
My parents have always encouraged me to be a good citizen and use whatever talents or abilities I have to create positive
change, even if it seems small. If I'm accepted into this volunteer program, you can count on me to be a responsible, caring and diligent member who shows up ready to contribute 100%.
Thank you for considering me! I hope I get the chance to make a difference through volunteering.。
