Very old pictures can be taken to a photo shop and reprinted so that they can be placed in an album. Be sure to write onthe back of the picture any information you remember about the people in it. Almost every city has a public library and there is no charge for a library card. Libraries have books about many subjects, but there are also other things at the library. These include books on cassette tape, videotapes, large print books, CD’s, DVD’s and magazines. Many have free programs in the afternoon or evening about travel, hobbies or other topics of interest. Some cities also have a bookmobile or traveling library, which brings the library right into your neighborhood.英语发音练习材料3:John D. RockefellerJohn D. Rockefeller did three amazing things. First, he acquired probably the greatest fortune in all history. He started out in life digging potatoes under the hot sun for four cents an hour. In those days, there were not half a dozen men in all the United States who were worth even one million dollars. Eventually, John D. managed to collect a fortune said to be anywhere from one to two billion dollars. And yet, the first girl he fell in love with refused to marry him.The reason given was because her mother refused to allow her daughter to throw herself away on a man who had such poor prospects.英语发音练习材料4:StarsHow many stars can you see on a dark, clear night? You can see about 3,000 stars with your eyes alone. But keep in mind that you are viewing only part of the sky. If the whole sky were visible, you could count about 5,000 stars. If you look through a small telescope you might see as many as 600,000 stars. Through the most powerful telescopes, astronomers can spot millions of stars. No one is sure exactly how many stars there are altogether, but astronomers believe there are at least 200 billion, billion stars out in space. The 10 Keys towards Improvement 训练发音的10个关键因素:1. Where should he live? Would it be better living in a dormitory or in a private room off campus? Should he spend all of his time studying, or should he take advantage of the many cultural and social activities that are offered? At first, he may not feel that he fits in with the American culture. He may not feel confident when he speaks. Little by little, however, he learns how to handle himself in various situations. Finally he begins to feel very secure and ‘at home’. Unfortunately, this long-awaited feeling doesn’t develop suddenly. It takes time.VolcanoesVolcanoes are holes in the Earth’s crust which allow molten rock to escape from beneath. The molten rock, or lava, may flow out gently or it may be blasted high in the air with gas and ash in a violent explosion. There are eight hundred and fiftyactive volcanoes around the world. Do you know where these mountains of fire are found? Three quarters of them are found within a zone called the “Ring of Fire.” One edge of the zone stretches along the west coast of the Americas from Chile to Alaska. The other edge runs along the east coast of Asia from Siberia to New Zealand. Twenty percent of these volcanoes are located in Indonesia. Other big groupings are in Japan, The Aleutian Islands, and Central America. The Chinese LanguageChinese is a most unusual language. It differs from English and most other major languages in that it has hundreds of different dialects. A person who lives in one section of the vast country of China, often cannot understand a fellow Chinese who lives in another section. These two major dialects are Cantonese and Mandarin. Cantonese is a southern dialect. Mandarin, a dialect that originated in northern China, is spoken by more Chinese than any other dialect.Non-Chinese people often say that the Chinese seem to “sing” their language. Chinese sounds as though it is sung, because many words are only one-syllable long and because the tone of voice changes for each word. As in English, many words have more than one meaning. The speaker’s tone of voice indicates each word’s specific meaning.Even more fascinating than the variety of spoken sounds is the Chinese written language. It has no alphabet. Instead, it employs signs called “characters.” Eachspoken word in the language is represented by a separate character. Originally, the characters were drawings that depicted the meanings of words, but over the years, they have simplified, and most no longer look like the things they represent. The SupercontinentAround 100 to 150 million years ago, there may have been only one continent on our planet. At least that is what some earth scientists have decided after years of research. If you look at the map of the world carefully, you can see that the present-day continents could be thought of as the pieces to a gigantic jigsaw puzzle. In your imagination carefully put the pieces together to form the supercontinent. You will see that if you took away the South Atlantic Ocean and pressed South America and Africa together they would fit very nicely. You could continue removing oceans and seas and put other parts of the world together quite easily until you get to those last two pieces of Australia and Antarctica. Scientists believe that the continents of Australia and Antarctica were once linked together. They may have split slowly off from the supercontinent and then separated from each other as recently as 40 million years ago.The 50 Most Mispronounced Words in English 最容易发错音的50个英文单词Accounting Argue Actually Available Arrangements Basically Business Calls Complete Continue Contribute。

英语口语教案:针对初学者的发音指导As a beginner in learning English, one of the most challenging aspects is to correctly pronounce the words. English pronunciation is something that needs to be practiced repeatedly, and it is crucial to follow a proper guideline to learn it effectively. This English oral training plan provides a step-by-step guide for beginners to improve their pronunciation skills.Step 1: Learn the Phonetic SoundsThe first step in improving your English pronunciation is to learn the different phonetic sounds in English. Phonetics is the study of speech sounds, which is essential for improving pronunciation. It is necessary to learn the 44 phonetic sounds in English, including the sound of vowels, consonants, and diphthongs.Vowels are the most important sounds in English, and they are produced with an open mouth and a free flow of air. The English language has 12 vowel sounds, which can be classified into five short vowels (e.g., bed, cat) and seven long vowels (e.g., late, meet). Learners need to comprehensively learn and practice the vowel sounds to get a correct pronunciation.Consonants are the other main sounds in English, and they are produced by interfering with the flow of air. English has 24 consonant sounds, which can be classified into voiced and voiceless sounds. The learners should also know about the diphthongs which consist of a combination of two vowel sounds. These are essential for mastering pronunciation skills.Step 2: Focus on Word Stress and IntonationWord stress is the emphasis placed on a syllable in a word, which can affect the meaning of a word. It is necessary to understand word stress and learn the correct stresspatterns in English. Intonation refers to the rising andfalling of the voice when speaking, which communicatesdifferent emotions or attitudes. English oral training plan focuses on understanding intonation patterns and their use in conversational English.Step 3: Practice Tongue Twisters and Pronunciation ExercisesPracticing tongue twisters and pronunciation exercises is an effective way to improve your English pronunciation. These exercises help to improve your tongue and lips movements, which are essential in producing the correct sounds. Tongue twisters are sentences that have similar-sounding words, but they are challenging to pronounce correctly. These exercises help learners practice their pronunciation and increase their fluency.Step 4: Watch English Movies and TV Shows with SubtitlesWatching English movies and TV shows with subtitles is a fun way to learn and improve your English pronunciation. It will help you learn how to speak like a native speaker and understand the correct pronunciation of words. Listening to English audio books and podcasts can also help with improving your English pronunciation and comprehension skills.Step 5: Seek Guidance from an Experienced English TutorGetting guidance from an experienced English tutor is the best way to improve your English pronunciation. Experienced English tutors can correct your pronunciation mistakes and provide personalized feedback. They can also guide you on how to improve your intonation and word stress.ConclusionIn conclusion, this English oral training plan provides beginners with a comprehensive guide to improve their English pronunciation skills. Learners need to practice repeatedly and follow this plan to achieve their desired results. With patience and practice, anyone can improve their English pronunciation and experience success in their English learning journey.。

美式英语中的连读和略读
同化
同化是两个音相互作用,导致最后产生另外一个音的现象,这样可以使句子显得更流畅。

1. /s/+/j/ —/ ? 女口:this
year 等
⑴I guess you 're right. 我想你是对的。

⑵I miss you. 我想念你。

2. /z/+/j/ —/ ?/
⑴What brings you here? 什么风把你刮到这儿来了
⑵I ' m not gonna lose you again.
3. /t/+/j/ —/ ?女口:congratulation 、last year 等
(1)Nice to meet you. 很高兴见到你。

(第二次见面就说Nice to see you.)
(2)What you doing? 你在做什么?
4. /d/+/j/ —/ ?/ 女口:education 等
(1) Pinned ya.压在你身上了。

(《狮子王》中的一句台词,听起来是/ ?)i n??/。

这两个单词包含的发音规则有弱读+同化。

)
(2)How did you like it? 你觉得怎样?
连读
在正常英语口语中,连读现象比比皆是。

有些较短的句子听起来简直就像
一个单词,所以学好连读是通向流利英语必经之路。

1. 词尾辅音+词首元音
这种连读最常见也最简单,把相邻的两个单词想象成一个单词即可。

(1) I ' m so fed up with him. 他让我烦透了。

(2) I ' ve already made up my mi nd. 我意已决。

(3) That is so gross [ q?us].太俗了。

(4) Turn on the juice. 合上开关,恢复通电。

(juice 也有电的意思)
2. 词尾元音+词首元音
A:以/u/、/?/、/au/、/o/结尾的单词与跟在后面的元音连读时,两个元音之间加上一个较轻的/w/,这样过渡就会很自然。

(1)Just do it. 尽管去做吧!
(2)It ' s snowing. 下雪了。

(3)Don' t blow it. 别搞砸了。

(4)So easy. 太简单了。

B:如果单词结尾是/i/、/ai/、/e/结尾并与其后的元音连读,则两个元音见带上一个较弱的/j/。

(1)My aunt will come to see us today. 姑妈今天回来看我们。

(2)I hate to say ____ ,but you really should pay me back the mon ey.
我真的不想说这个,但是你借我的钱应该还给我了。

不完全爆破
发音方法为:第一个爆破音不发声,只需做出发音的姿势,稍作停顿马上过渡到下一个音。

例如,Goodbye中的/d/就不能发出声来,如果读成/gud ' bai/就会显得很生硬。

(一)爆破音+爆破音
6个爆破音中任意两个紧挨在一起,则第一个爆破音失去爆破。

大家一起来学习下面的例子:
1. What are we supposed to do?我们该怎么办?
2. Let' s get dow n to bus in ess. 我们开始说正事。

你真是秀外慧中。

2. I ' m not fat , I ' m big boned. 我不胖,我只是骨架大。

(三)爆破音+破擦音
1. I ' m going give you one last chanee . 我在给你最后一次机会。

2. Good-bye to this dead-end job !别了,这份没前途的工作!
(四)鼻腔爆破
其发音要领为:/t/或/d/与/n/同时发音,两者相互作用导致鼻腔爆破,最后发出的音既不是/t/或/d/,也不是单独的/n/。

1. I feel like I am not important to you. 我感觉我对你一点也不重
要。

2. I lost my stude nt ID card. 我的学生证丢了。

1. You are absolutely right. 你完全正确。

2. We are free at last !

1. You can say that again. 你说的没错。

2. Give me a break. 别逗了。

3. I ' II say. 的确。

(Yes, definitely. )
4. Nothing doing!没门!
5. Call him off. 叫他收手吧。

BONUS and 的弱读
我们读英语时每当碰到and时,一般都会读作/?nd/,殊不知,在美语口语里面,and 通常只需弱读为/?n/,甚至是一个简单的鼻音/n/。

当说话者需要强调时则会把and读作/?nd/.如果能够掌握好这个发音规则,我们的口语将更加流畅,听力理解也更加畅听无阻。

1. Struggle n ' strife come before success. 成功之前必有一番挣扎和竞
争。

2. I have traveled through time n ' space to find you. 我穿越了时空找到了你。

3. Without you, my life will be blank n ' white .没有你,我的生活将暗
淡无光。
