Unit 1 Can you play the guitar?Section A 1a-1cGood morning, ladies and gentlemen:Nice to meet you here. I'd like to say it's a good chance for me to learn from you . My presentation is about the first period of Unit 10 ,Can you play the guitar?, which is from part 1a to part 1c inSection A . Here, my speech contains 6 parts.Part1 The analysis of teaching material First,status andfunctionThis is an important lessonin Book One. And it is the first lesson of this unit.It ask students to talk about abilities and the simple question related to Modal verbs.The students have already known to answer it"Yes" or "No" last term.Butinthis unit,we should talk about abilities using Modal verbs.it's different. We know, simple question is a kind of important structure. If the students can learn it well, it will be helpful to make the students learn the special question. And it's related to our daily life closely, so it's very useful.Second,teachingaimsanddemandsAims on the knowledge:1,To study the words about abilities by showing the pictures and master newsentencepatten.words:guitar,sing,swim,dance,draw,chess,play chess,speak,speak English,join,club.Sentence:T: can you draw?S: Yes, I can. They are curious, active, and fond of english for some years. They enjoy learning through cooperation in a relaxing atmosphere.Part 3Teaching methods I will take."Communicative" teaching method. "Task-based" teaching method.In order to help the students achieve the goals efficiently, I designed activities such as listening, making a dialogue, and an interesting game. It can develop students’ abilities of listening, speaking, communication and their good sense of the English language. Besides, a computer, blackboard, a tape recorder, a projector are needed as the teaching aidsPart 4. Learning methods.In order to guide the Ss better, develop the Ss’ abillities, in this lesson, the Ss will learn how to learn independently and communicate with others. It will be very helpful for their learning in the future. I think forming good learning habits can help the Ss be good language learners.Part 5Teaching procedure design.Step1 Warm-up.Ask the students some easy questions to check if they have remembered the contents they had learned before. For example: T:Do you like playing basketball? S1: Yes. T:So do I, Do you want to play basketball S1 Good idea.after class do it.Purpose of my designing: I think it is good way to not only review earned knowledge but also help students arouse their interest in learning English..it is good for students to learn new lesson.weusually say goodBeginning is the key to success.Step2 Presentation.Leading in new words : here I will play some pictures, they are some activities, ,because students have learned pronunciation , there may be some students know the word and I will ask the students to spell it by themselves.,they will read it out loudly, this time, you need to correct the pronunciation and teach it.here I will teach usage oftheModal verbs.The reason of my design: I think the students can learn the words easily and directly in this way. And I also think it can draw the students' attention and arouse their interest in learning English. With the help of the CAI, it can provide a real situation to understand the meaning of the words, not by presenting the new words one by one and telling them the Chinese meaning.when I ask them to spell it themselves, I think it can make them have a general impression of the word. So the students can remember the words quickly and naturally.after learn new words , and learn how to learn independently I will ask students to accomplish 1a. then check the answers.Step 3 Teaching the dialogue:Make a sample dialogue with a student, do it like this:T: I can draw, can you draw?/play the guitar? S: Yes, I can.T: I want to join the art club,do you wang to join it? S:Yes, I do. T: can you swim? S: No, I can't .Make the dialogue with some more students,and write it on the blackboard. Make sure they can read and understand the meaning. Teach the dialogue and make sure they can read it and understand the meaning. Purpose of my designing: To present Sample A by CAI is much easier for the Ss to learn and grasp the meanings. CAI can provide a real situation with its sound and picture and it makes the relationships between the Ss better.Step 4 Listeninglisten to the tape and circle the words you hear. It's Activity 1b. then check the answers.Purpose of my designing:train their listening skills and abilities of geting the key information from the conversaionStep 5 Practice:Read the dialogue by role play. But I must tell them how to do it clearly, make them to ask their partners what kind of balls they have. This time ,they must use the sentence "Can you have a "5. Grou pworking and competition: Divide the students into groups, Give them an example first :T: can you draw? S: Yes, I can. I want to join the art clubT: can you swim? S: No, I can't .Ask them to make a similar dialogue and tell them that it' s also a competition, after they act it out I will choose a best group at theend.The reason of having a competition: I think it can encourage them to try their best and cooperate with their groupmembers well. It also encourage them to compete with others.This step is employed to make the Ss practice structures to master it and apply then to life . At the same time let the Ss have a chance to practise their listening and spoken ability.Step6 ProductionIn this step ,because students have learned for a long time,as they can not force their attention endurably,I will design an interesting game. Divide students into some groups,there are four members in every group. then ask them make a survey with the drill can you swim? Every group can have a header to give a report. Purpose of my designing: “Task-based” teaching method is used here to develop the Ss’ ability of indrouceing theirs abilities andTo train the students' ability of communication. I think proper competition can arouse the Ss’ interest in English learning. If the Ss can finish this task well, they will benefit a lot in their spoken English.Step 7 SummaryI will ask a student to summarise the contents of this lesson, I will say very good, then I will summarise this lesson.Purpose of my designing:Make students know what they have learned.Step8 Homework1,Recite the words as many as possible after class.2,Make a dialogue according to Sample A and write it in the exercise book.Purpose of my designing: I think homework is so important that the Ss should speak English as much as they can in class or after class.
