The twins were filled with excitement as they thought of the surprise they were planning for Mother's Day. How pleased and proud Mother would be when they brought her breakfast in bed. They planned to make French toast and chicken porridge. They had watched their mother in the kitchen. There was nothing to it. Jenna and Jeff knew exactly what to do.The big day came at last. The alarm rang at 6 am. The pair went down the stairs quietly to the kitchen. They decided to boil the porridge first. They put some rice into a pot of water and left it to boil while they made the French toast. Jeff broke two eggs into a plate and added in some milk. Jenna found the bread and put two slices into the egg mixture. Next, Jeff turned on the second stove burner to heat up the frying pan. Everything was going smoothly until Jeff started frying the bread. The pan was too hot and the bread turned black within seconds. Jenna threw the burnt piece into the sink and put in the other slice of bread. This time, she turned down the fire so it cooked nicely. As the twins looked around them in disappointment, their father appeared. Secure in the knowledge that no blister was developing on Jeff's hand, father took command of the kitchen. Sweeping the stove clean, he grabbed a handful of rice into the pot and left it to simmer. Father then dipped two slices of fresh bread into the egg mixture, slipped them onto the pan and constantly flipped them until both sides were golden brown. As father was dancing around in the kitchen, Jenna and Jeff stood beside in awe, their eyes round in admiration. It was merely twenty minutes later that everything was set on a tray. Winking at the twins, father sank his voice to a whisper, "take it to your mother!"The twins carried the breakfast upstairs and woke their mother up. Rubbing her bleary eyes and sitting up, mother was greeted by a bowl of steaming porridge, two pieces of crunchy bread and some fruits, all neatly arranged on a tray. "Happy Mother's Day!" the twins presented the tray to their mother, a touch of shame etched on their smiling faces, "we never knew how hard it was for you to prepare meals for us every day. Thank you mum, for what you have done for us!" Hands tightly pressed on the chest, mum could hardlyutter a complete sentence, her face streaked with tears of genuine happiness. It was truly the most delightful Mother's Day surprise.9.As the twins looked around them in disappointment, their father appeared.Their father's jaw dropped in amazement when he saw everything before him. Jenna explained to their father their plan for Mother's Day and the accident that had just happened. Having handled Jeff's injury, their father told him to rest for a while in the living room while Jenna continued to stay in the kitchen to help. They cleaned the messy stove, and after about an hour, the golden toast and the thick porridge were made. At that moment, broad smiles spread across their faces. (87 words)The twins carried the breakfast upstairs and woke their mother up.〃Mom, happy Mother's Day!" they said with one voice. She quickly took hold of the plate, put it on the table, and hugged the twins tightly in her arms, murmuring, “Thank you, my babies. You are my best gifts." Lost in the delicious breakfast and pure love from her son and daughter, she sobbed, with delightful tears streaming down her face. "Mom. why are you crying?" the pair asked in confusion."Is the breakfast good enough?" Melting her tears into smiles, she gave the twins a bear hug."The breakfast tastes so good! The twins stood straight and awe, watching the hustle and bustle from their father. At 7 o'clock, everything was done and perfect. The twins took over the tray, feeling guilty about being over-confident about their competence in performing the house chores. Then Jeff noticed steam shooting out of the pot and the lid starting to shake. The next minute, the porridge boiled over and put out the fire. Jenna panicked. Thankfully, Jeff stayed calm and turned off the gas quickly. But the stove was a mess now. 参考答案
第一节基础写作
One possible version:
Last Sunday, our class organized some volunteers’activities, in which all of us took a active part.
Croup 1 went to the People’s Park, where they planted trees, watered flowers and cleaned the grasslands to make it more beautiful. Group 2 made their greatest efforts to give the bus station a thorough cleaning, after which the station took on a new look. Group 3 helped to raise money in the square for the Hope project, so that more children in poor areas can afford their schooling. Group 4 went to the old People’s home to present wonderful
performances to make the aged there happier.
As far as I am concerned, I think it was a meaningful day because these volunteers’activities can help us to gain some social experience and make good sense of personal values as well.
第二节:读写任务
One possible version:

Everyone may face difficulties that they cannot overcome by themselves, so an instant help is important. Moreover, if you often try your best to help others, you will be helped when in trouble in return.
However, I will first consider my own safety before I can rescue someone in danger because it is not worthwhile to lose one more life in case I fail. Therefore, if I had been on the spot, I would have jumped into the river to rescue the children on condition that I could swim. If not, I would have first called the police and then persuade people on the boat and the swimmers nearby to help.。
