Opening Speech
Your Excellencies, Ladies, Gentlemen and Friends,
Good morning! Please allow me now to call the meeting to order. Frist, I welcome you all on behalf of the Executive Committee of the Congress on the Renewable Energy. Let me introduce myself to you. I am Lihua from China, serving as chairman for this morning’s session. We are very honored to have Dr. Mark, professor of electrical engineering at the Department of Electrical Engineering at Stanford University, sitting on my left, as co-chairman with me. Miss Lucy acts as secretary of the meeting.
The purpose of this meeting is to exchange experience and knowledge in regard to the theories, new developments and practical applications of renewable energy. A number of scholars and experts will read academic papers, each of which will take about 20 minutes. It is our hope that there will be half an hour at the end of each meeting left for group discussion. The first speaker today is Dr. Han, professor of energy at Wuhan University. He received the Bachelor Degree and Master Degree from Wuhan university in China, and Ph.D. Degree from MIT in the U.S.A. . He is full professor and the Director of Institute of Smart Power and Energy System, majored in intelligent energy system and renewable power generation. He is vice program leader of wind power system and leads in more than 15 national and international research projects. It is really a great pleasure for us to have him address us. His lecture is entitled “Prospects for the development of renewable energy”. Now I would like to invite him to deliver his lecture. Let’s welcome him with warm applause. Professor Han, please!
