Dear Kenton,
I’ve received your letter. From your letter, I know that you are worried about your scores because you always make mistakes in exams. However, you should remember that
even the best student can make mistakes sometimes, so don’t put too much pressure on yourself.
As far as I am concerned, learning from your mistakes in past exams is a quick
way to stop making the same mistakes next time. T o begin with, if there are questions that can’t be solved by yourself, you should turn to your teachers or classmates for help. What’s more, during the exams you’d better make a good plan to distribute your time according to the questions. Besides, try to leave a few minutes at the end to check your answers.
Enjoy the challenge that each new exam brings to you. I believe a good learning
habit will finally help you gain success.
Best wishes!
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua

W:Mike, could you help me tomorrow afternoon?
I’Il have a yard sale from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
M:OK, but could you tell me what a yard sale is?
W:It’s a sale held in someone’s yard, selling used things,It’s a great way to make some money from our old things.
M:I never did that in my country. We usually just throw away our old things.
W:That’s really a waste. You know, something useless to you may be very useful to someone else. Sometimes you can give them to your friends or relatives.
M:I agree. I think yard sales can also be good for the environment.

W: I just rece ived a beautiful Mother’s Day gift from our son!
M: What did he give you this year?
W: He drew a picture and wrote “I love you” on it. It was really moving. It’s hard to believe he’s already nine years old now. Do you want to have a look at the picture?
M: Oh yes,please.
W: Here. Isn’t he good at drawing?
M: That’s amazing! I really didn’t know he can draw so well. He really has a gift for it
W: What do you think about having him attend a drawing class?
M: That’s a really good idea,
W: Do you know any good teachers who can draw well?
M: You know, my friend David’s sister Sara is an art teacher.Actually, she draws pictures for children’s books. I’ll call and find out if Jim can join her class
W: OK.

This is where I work. The name of my company is Marshall Publishing. I started working here six years ago. I spend a lot of time on the phone, speaking to our clients, especially in Japan and Saudi Arabia. It's lucky that they all speak very good English because I don’t speak Japanese or Arabic! I work in the advertising department.
In my part of the office, there’s me and then there are three others: Lucy, Helen and Paul. Paul is the new one. He arrived only three months ago. He was a lawyer before. Helen arrived at Marshall Publishing only a month or two after me. She works very hard. Lucy is the grandmother of the office. She started working here almost twelve years ago, when the company started. Everybody comes to her when there’s a problem, when you have something you don't understand. She’s n grandmother in real life too. She has six grandchildren!
The manager of the office is Liam. He’s 39 years old and worked for a large publisher in London before taking this job. He’s the best boss you could have!

M: Hi, Vanessa! Did you have a good weekend?
W: Oh yes-- it was great! I went to see a special James Bond exhibition at the Science Museum. M: Sounds interesting. though aren’t museums a bit expensive? I paid £8 last time I went.
W: This was only 6.50. I did buy a guidebook as well----that was an extra 2. 95.
M: How did you get there?
W: You can take the underground, but I went by bus. It stops just outside. I got very tired walking around the museum, though.
M: What did you see?
W: James Bond’s pl ane, which was my favorite, and the tiny camera, and his car, things like that.
M: It sounds great! How early can you go in? At nine?
W: Not until ten, and we didn’t get there until eleven thirty, so there wasn’t enough time to see everything.
M: Can you eat there?
W: Yes. You can even take a picnic! I had a sandwich at the cafe but you can get a hot meal at the restaurant.
M:I’d really like to go. I’m free next Saturday---- that’s 23rd April.
W:The exhibition’s on until the 27th, so the Saturday may be busy.
M:Well,I’ll go on the 24th then.
