摘要：外宣材料是让世界了解中国，认识中国的重要途径。中文外宣材料中经常出现内涵丰富的四字结构，四字格在英语中很难找到词性、词义、词形完全对等的词语，这就给翻译带来一定难度。为准确传达原文中的文化信息，在英译中有时必须放弃中文四字结构的韵律美、节奏美，灵活使用避繁就简、避形就义、直译法、直译加注法和同义习语借用法等翻译策略。

关键词：外宣翻译四字格翻译策略

一、四字格的定义

四字格，也叫四字结构，是汉语中独特的语言现象，它的特点是言简意赅、整齐匀称、音调和谐、内涵丰富。四字格是一个比较宽泛的概念，它既包括思想内涵深刻、简短精辟、易记易用的四字成语，如“囊中羞涩”、“阳奉阴违”、“昙花一现”等；又包括语义高度凝练，配合现代语境的普通四字格，如“一带一路”、“合作共赢”、“继往开来”等。外宣材料中出现的以普通四字格为主，译者运用何种翻译策略才能准确传达原文中四字格的文化信息，是本文探讨的主要问题。

二、外宣材料翻译中四字格的英译策略

外宣材料作为宣传类的信息文本，必定带有文化信息浓重的成语、典故、民间传说等内容，四字结构更是层出不穷。译者在翻译时，应按照英文的语言习惯和外国受众的思维逻辑，将这些文化内涵丰富的内容翻译为用词精炼直白的英文，保证外国受众能准确理解外宣材料中的文化信息。在英译过程中，任意增加或删减原文内容都是不可取的，但在必要时可放弃原文的语言组织形式和结构，灵活运用避繁就简、避形就义、直译法、直译加注法和同义习语借用法等翻译策略，简明准确通顺地传递原文的信息，便于外国受众理解。
