Describe a traditional building in your hometownThe building I'd like to talk about is the Capital Library; in Chinese we call it Shou Du Tu Shu Guan. I first saw this building when I was a child. My mother took me there as a quiet place to study. She said that I could probably study there more easily than in other places. Now, I go there about once a month. It's quieter than the National Library and I like the atmosphere there. The place is now a library for history books and any books published in China are there, but it also has an interesting history itself. It is located in the same area as the old Guo Zi Jian, or in English you might call it the Imperial College. The building was built in traditional Qing architectural style, because it was last rebuilt during that time. The roof is quite steep. Bi Yong Hall wa_ the place where imperial exams were held, and it has two layered roofs with a curved at each corner, just like the buildings atthe Summer Palace. It is red and has quite a few wooden pillars holding it up at all sides. The reason I like this building is because it seems to store the soul of our country. The Imperial College was actually set up in the Yuan dynasty to educate high-ranking Mongolian families in Chin_e, but then it was used by all the next dynasties. In the 50s, it stopped being an educatioml place and became an all-purpose library. You know, to be able to take the imperial exam was every young man's dream in China for hundreds of years. But few could take it and fewer would pass it. So apart from its grand appearance, it has a kind of untouchable nobility to it.。

IELTS Speaking Part 3 Buildings:1. Do buildings need to look the same? No, most certainly not! You know, I think a city’s much more interesting when it has a variety of different buildings. It just makes a city a lot more attractive. I mean, look at the....um… …what’s it called?!...Oh yeah, that’s it - the Oriental Pearl Tower in Shanghai. That’s just a really cool building, and I don’t think there are many buildings like that on Earth! So it’s one of the things that draws so many people to Shanghai, and to me, that really demonstrates the power of unique architecture.(most) certainly not – definitely not, 绝不!what’s it called –叫什么来着!the Oriental Pearl Tower–东方明珠Cool – (In this sentence) - 能被表示程度的副词或介词词组修饰的形容词非常好的;特别棒的;绝妙的If you say that something is cool, you think it is very gooddrawspeople to somewhere – attracts people2. Do you prefer traditional architecture or modern architecture?I guess it kind of depends really. Because in terms of visual appearance, I’d say I proba bly prefer traditional architecture, simply because, you know, there’s less and less of it around, so when I see it, it just looks a bit more special, especially considering the lack of technology back then. AndI mean, nowadays, modern architecture’s ever ywhere, and that kind of just lessens the appeal. But if it was a place to live, then my preference would definitely be modern architecture, because I think it’s more suited towards modern-day living. So um, yeah, it really depends what aspect I’m looking at it from.in terms of visual appearance - 从视觉外观的角度来看especially considering –尤其是考虑到back then –那个时候lessens the appeal –减少吸引力it’s more suited towards modern-day living–更适合现代的生活I think the architecture of ancient buildings, like temples, pagodas and churches is just extraordinary/ incredible.3. Do you prefer tall buildings or short buildings?Well, I don’t really tend to judge a building purely on its height, because I mean, there are lots of other things to take into consideration, like the state i t’s in, what it’s made of, and so on. But all things being equal, I’d say I generally prefer tall buildings, basically because they just look a bit more impressive!I don’t really tend to –我一般不……Purely = solelyThe state it’s in –状况all things being equal- 在其他各点都相同的情况下impressive - 给人深刻印象的;不俗的;了不起的Something that is impressive impresses you, for example because it is great in size or degree, or is done with a great deal of skill.Another possible answer:I think it’s pretty hard to generalize, but on the whole, I’d say I prefer tall buildings. You know, I think they generally look a bit cooler. And um… if I’m living in a tall building, high up, then I’ll have a better view than if I was living in some low-storey building. So uh, yeah, I guess those would be the main reasons.it’s pretty hard to generalize–有点难概括High up - 在高处low-storey –底层更多托福机经下载,点击↓↓进入免费下载/gz/手机震动,来一条微信消息,他说:“我开好房间了,等你!

在雅思口语考试中,但凡考到建筑类的话题都会出现像这样的一些词,很多学生就会觉得头晕眼花,甚至在考试的时候明明想的这个词,但是说出口的就变成另一个词汇了,如 a library, a hotel, a museum, a restaurant, a concert hall, a historical building, a modern building等。

在描述museum时,我们要关注博物馆的类型,还要了解其中的exhibits, 如visual art, painting, illustration, sculpture, collection of drawings and old master prints, document, artifact, art, archaeological object。

It is quite a big park with a huge lake covering 3 km. there are green trees planted along every path. Some of the paths are paved with pebbles. It is said that it will do good to the health to walk on the pebbles. I guess that’s the reason why many elderly people go to the park and walk on the pebbles every day. In summer the roses and tulips are radiating charms to the visitors, while in winter, the daisies are blooming against the chilly wind. Since this park is pleasant, I go there every weekend. Sometimes I invite my parents to join me walking around the park while talking. I love this park because it is indeed a good place of relaxation.

. In the second floor, ... .

If you go up to the ___ floor, you'll see ...

所谓地点是指像“a city”“a country”“a place you’d like to go to”这样的题目,回答的时候更多的是从相对概括的角度去说这个地方的位置,历史,人文以及衣食住行等方面。

CHINA’S ANCIENT BUILDINGImperial PalaceIn order to consolidate the emperors' control, highlight the dignity of the imperial power, and satisfy their extravagant material lives, grand palaces were always built in large scale. For thousands of years, successive emperors spare no labor, material or money to build majestic palaces for them. Those solemn and magnificent palaces fully exhibit the wisdom and creative power of the Chinese people.Beijing Imperial Palace: The Forbidden CityShenyang Imperial Palace: The palace was used by the Qing rulers before they removed their capital to Beijing. The Shenyang Imperial Palace covers an area of more than 60,000 square meters. There are totally more than 20 courtyards and 300 rooms.MausoleumsMausoleums make a very important part in ancient Chinese architectures. In ancient times, people in China believe that the sprit dose not die with the body. They attached importance to the funeral so much that every class of the society designed the mausoleums elaborately. In the long history, Chinese mausoleum buildings have well developed. The large scales of kings’ and queens' mausoleums are rarely seen in the world. The mausoleums are integrated with various arts, such as painting, calligraphy, carving and so on. Therefore, mausoleum architecture is a synthesis of achievements in many artistic fields. The overall arrangements of Chinese mausoleums always include walls around, doors opened to four directions, as well as turrets on four corners.Mausoleums are the most majestic and also the biggest building complexes in ancient China. These mausoleums are always built back on the mountains; some of them are also on the plains. There is usually a paved path leading to the tomb with stone persons and stone beast on both sides. Many trees, usually pines and cypresses, are planted around the mausoleums, which add to the atmosphere of solemn, respectful and quiet. The Three Pagodas in DaliThe Three Pagodas of Dali are famous in China for their size, beauty, and antiquity, and for their preservation. The central one is more than 1,100 years old and is one of the tallest pagodas ever built in China. These pagodas are situated between Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake, about 1.5 kilometers (.9 of a mile) northwest from the ancient city of Dali, so a walk to the temple would be a good excursion. The Three Pagodas are cream-colored, delicate-looking pagodas. They are situated in the shape of a triangle. They are made of brick. They stand at the foot of one of the high peaks named Yinglo Peak. The main pagoda is called Qianxun. It is 16 stories, stands 69.6 meters (227 feet) high. It is a square shaped. At the bottom, the walls are about 3 meters (10 feet) thick. It has yellow eaves that contrast with the white façade of the pagodas.During the one thousand years since the Three Pagodas were built, they have gone through war and earthquakes. They have been repaired numerous times. There was a severe earthquake in the Dali area in 1925. Few buildings in Dali survived, but the Three Pagodas were undamaged.Terracotta ArmyThe Terracotta Army is the Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses of Qin Shi Huang, the First Emperor of China. The terracotta figures, dating from 210 BC, were discovered in 1974 by some local farmers near Xi'an, Shaanxi province, China, near the Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor. The figures vary in height (183–195 cm - 6 ft–6 ft 5in), according to their roles, with the tallest being the generals. The figures include warriors, chariots['tʃæriət], horses, officials, acrobats, strongmen, and musicians. Current estimates are that in the three pits containing the Terracotta Army there were over 8,000 soldiers, 130 chariots with 520 horses and 150 cavalry['kævəlri] horses, the majority of which are still buried in the pits. The Terracotta Army was discovered in 1974 in the eastern suburbs of Xi'an, Shaanxi Province by local farmers drilling a water well 1.5 miles east of Mount Li. This discovery prompted archaeologists to investigate. The Terracotta Army is a form of funerary art buried with the First Emperor of Qin (Qin Shi Huang, "shi huang" means the first emperor) in 210-209 BC. (He declared himself the first emperor of China in 221 B.C.) Their purpose was to help rule another empire with Qin Shi Huang in the afterlife. Consequently, they are also sometimes referred to as "Qin's Armies."The material to make the terracotta warriors originated on Mount Lishan. In addition to the warriors, an entire man-made necropolis[ne'krɔpəlis] for the emperor has been excavated.Qin Shi Huang’s necropolis complex wa s constructed to serve as an imperial compound or palace. It comprises several offices, halls and other structures and is surrounded by a wall with gateway entrances. It was also said[citation needed] as a legend that the terracotta warriors were real soldiers, buried with Emperor Qin so that they could defend him from any dangers in the next life.。

1. Describe a hotel
2. Describe your favourite shop
3. Describe your ideal house
4. Describe an old building
5. Describe a traditional/modern building
6. Describe a museum
7. Describe an art gallery
8. Describe a concert hall
9. Describe a library
10. Describe a park/garden
11. Describe a restaurant/cafe

其次要注意句型的多样化,最好不要in the first floor, ... . In the second floor, ... .

If you go up to the ___ floor, you'll see ...
