1.Q地的海拔可能为( )A.90米B.230米C.340米D.420米2.桥梁附近河岸与山峰的高差最接近( )A.260米B.310米C.360米D.410米思维过程1.

联立方程组,解得A(2,1),联立方程组,解得B(1,2). 使得成立【答案】C【解析】对于A,“若a>1,则a2>1”的否命题是“若a⩽1,则a2⩽1”,故A错;对于B,在△ABC中,“A>B”⇔“a>b”⇔“2RsinA>2RsinB”⇔“sinA>sinB”,故在△ABC中,“A>B”是“sinA>sinB”充分必要条件,故B错;对于C,tanα=⇔(k∈Z,“tanα≠,则α≠”⇔“α=则tanα=”故C 正确;对于D,由幂函数y=x n(n<0)在(0,+∞)递减,可得x∈(−∞,0)使得3x>4x成立,故D错。

The Summer Science Program is an independent nonprofit, the only summer program operated, governed, and largely funded by its former participants and teachers, which is proof of its impact on young people for more than six decades. Many participants call it “the educational experience of a lifetime.”What can SSP offer?SSP offers teens an exciting and inspiring immersion into hands-on experimental science. Working in teams of three, 36 participants and 7 teachers form a supportive “living and learning community” over 39 days. Each team completes a real research project, taking and analyzing original data. Afterward, they join a worldwide network of 2,500+ alumni of all ages.In 2024 we will operate six programs:•three in Astrophysics: research in near-earth asteroid orbit determination at New Mexico State Univ., Univ. of Colorado Boulder, and University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.•two in Biochemistry: research in fungal crop pathogens at Purdue Univ. and Indiana Univ.•one in Genomics: research in evolution of antibiotic resistance, at Indiana Univ.Is SSP for you? SSP is open to current high school juniors (and a few truly exceptional sophomores) who have completed the pre-requisites by summer, and will be at least 15 years old, but not yet 19, during the program.Key Dates for 2024 Programs1.In the 39-day program, participants will ______.A.create hands-on science projects for teens B.support a living and learning community C.collect and study data to carry out a project D.become part of a global alumniassociation2.Which is a requirement for the applicants?A.Attending a U. S. school.B.Funding the program.C.Holding a green card.D.Finishing pre-requisites.3.An overseas student had better submit the application before ______.A.February B.March C.April D.DecemberTwo weeks ago, I had volunteered to raise three newborn American barn owls. When the director of a local wildlife rehabilitation (康复) center first approached me and asked if I would be interested in raising “the babies” I was overjoyed! Twelve years earlier, the center had received a pair of barn owls, and since then more than 100 of them have been bred and released. Thoughts poured through my head of hours happily spent raising these babies and working with them until they were fully grown. Tossing them up into the sky where they would begin their lives anew in the wild would be so incredibly rewarding. However, I had assumed incorrectly that we were going to release all of them. In fact, two of the owls were to be released, but the third owl was to be used as an educational animal. For the center to keep one owl when his two siblings were going to be freed seemed cruel, and this angered me. Sensing my anger, our director suggested that before I denounced the plan for this owl, I should at least go out and help with the educational assignment, to see what is accomplished. While still ready to regard this plan as a horrible use of an owl, I reluctantly agreed to go.Then, things took a 180-degree turn. I found that I had been naive in my assumption that most people knew as much about wildlife as I did, and that they shared my respect for animals. The children at the school where I spoke had never seen the owls or the opossum that I showed them, though both were common inhabitants of our area. Many of them had never even heard of an ocelot. They were full of questions and eager to know more. At that moment, it occurred to me that in front of me were rooms full of 6-and 7-year-olds who, with the “help” of the owls, were learning to view nature in a whole new light. That afternoon, I returned from the educational assignment with a new-found sense of purpose and happily commenced that task at hand — feeding little pieces of mice to Athena, our newest educational ambassador.4.How did the author react to the director’s request?A.He agreed readily.B.He turned it down.C.He reluctantly said yes.D.He questioned his intention.5.What does the underlined word denounced in Paragraph 2 mean?A.Finished.B.Evaluated.C.Changed.D.Condemned. 6.What did the author find about the school children?A.They explored the outdoors often.B.They were keen on raising an animal.C.They were almost ignorant of the surrounding wildlife.D.They had volunteered to join the animal education program.7.What is the best title for the text?A.A kept owl is safeguarding the owl’s future.B.Saving the world begins with saving an owl.C.The earth’s future is in the hands of children.D.Releasing animals to the wild is not the end.You have never seen the dodo, a type of bird that was large, heavy and unable to fly. Driven to extinction by human beings on the island of Mauritius around 1680, the species has become a thing of the past. But Colossal, a biotechnology and genetic engineering start-up, wants to change this. It launches a project to “de-extinct” the species alongside some other well-known extinct species, like the woolly mammoth and the Tasmanian tiger. According to Colossal, all three will be restored to life within the next decade.“Colossal is running the project not just because they can,” says Forrest Galante, a wildlife biologist and conservationist who studies and protects endangered species around the world. “In the case of the dodo, it will put something back at the top of the food chain. Removing the bird created a gap in the ecosystem. Recovering it, in theory, should help fill that gap.”Just like in Jurassic Park, DNA is required to bring back an extinct animal. DNA fromspecies like the dodo bird and the woolly mammoth can be recovered, while DNA from dinosaurs and other older species has been degraded so that it is impossible to bring their DNA back. According to Galante, DNA is then placed into a related species that is living today. In the case of the dodo bird, its closest bird relative in the pigeon (鸽子) family—the living Nicobar pigeon is used. After the pigeon lays eggs, dodo birds are able to hatch out.The new dodos will not be the exact same type of bird, but close enough to fill the gap their extinction left behind. While bringing back creatures like the dodo might turn heads, Colossal says its work will be just as important in helping the medical and environmental fields. Through Colossal’s project, we see that genetic technologies can be used for de-extinction. But their usage goes far beyond that.8.Why does Colossal launch the project?A.To uncover reasons for dodos’ extinction.B.To make some extinct animals reappear.C.To record the extinction of animals over time.D.To explain the link between dodos and humans.9.What’s Galante’s attitude towards Colossal’s project?A.Curious.B.Doubtful.C.Conservative.D.Favorable. 10.What is focused on in paragraph 3?A.How to bring extinct dodos back to life.B.How to change eggs into dodo birds.C.The cause for choosing pigeons as subjects.D.The recoverability of extinct species’ DNA.11.What might the author continue talking about?A.The possible effects of Colossal’s work.B.Colossal’s involvement in various fields.C.Other applications of genetic technologies.D.Further efforts to de-extinct otherspecies.A moment occurs in the exchange between professor and student when each of us adopts a look. My look says, “What, you don’t understand?” Theirs says, “We don’t. And we think you’re making it up.” We are having a problem. Basically, we’ve all read the same story, but we haven’t used the same analytical approaches. It may seem at times as if the professor is inventing interpretations out of thin air.Actually, the truth is that as the slightly more experienced reader, the professor has acquired over the years the use of a certain “language reading”. Besides, he has grasped three professional tools-memory, symbol and pattern. These items separate the professional readers from the ordinary ones.English professors are cursed with memory. When reading a new book, I constantly seek out connections and inferences, recalling faces and themes from past readings. I can’t not do it, although there are plenty of times when that ability is not something I want to exercise. This does not necessarily improve the experience of popular entertainment.Professors also read and think symbolically. Everything is a symbol of something, it seems, until proven otherwise. We ask: What does the thing over there represent? The kind of mind that works its way through undergraduate and then graduate classes in literature and criticism tends to see things as existing in themselves while also representing something else. This tendency to understand the world in symbolic terms is enhanced by years of training and rewards the symbolic imagination.A related phenomenon in professorial reading is pattern recognition. Most professional students of literature learn to take in the specific detail while seeing the patterns that the detail reveals. Experience has proved to them that life and books fall into similar patterns. Literature is full of patterns, and your reading experience will be much more rewarding when you can step back from the work, even while you are reading it, and look for those patterns.12.How does the author introduce the topic?A.By describing a real-life scene.B.By using popular quotes.C.By presenting conflicting ideas.D.By raising an interesting question. 13.Why do the students think the professor is making up interpretations?A.They have limited life experience.B.They lack chances for sufficient reading.C.They are unable to analyze the text thoroughly.D.They do not trust the professor’s teaching abilities.14.What does paragraph 3 say about English professors?A.They have a strong desire to not have their good memory.B.Their reading habit doesn’t always guarantee desirable effects.C.Their memory adds to their reading pleasure of popular works.D.They keep making connections with their own life while reading.15.Which is the author’s suggestion on reading literature?A.Identify the hidden text modes.B.Perceive many things at the same time.C.Look for details and language patterns.D.Memorize patterns of symbolic meanings. It’s often said that it’s better to give than to receive. You may feel too stressed and busy to help others with their burdens in your daily life. However, altruism (利他主义) is its own reward and can actually help you relieve stress. 16 Here are some ways that helping others helps you.17 More specifically, when people make altruistic personal sacrifices, they end up being repaid by what they have done in the form of favors from others. These individuals earn the reputation as altruistic people and end up receiving favors from others who they may not have even directly helped.Altruism is good for emotional well-being. For example, one study on patients showed that those who offered other patients peer support actually experienced great benefits, including more pronounced improvement of confidence, self-awareness, self-esteem, depression and daily functioning. 18The positive effects of altruism often go beyond just you and that other person, influencing your whole community. 19 Your family and your friends may see your good example and behave in more altruistic ways as well and thus you can contribute to a more positive community. Helping others in need, especially those who are less fortunate than you, can provide you with a sense of perspective on how fortunate you are to have what you do in life. 20 As a result, you can improve your level of life satisfaction.A.It can improve your quality of life in various ways.B.It can help you gain a more positive view on your life.C.Studies show acts of altruism can be a great form of stress relief.D.Altruism can improve physical and mental health in a variety of ways.E.When it comes to altruistic acts, what goes around generally comes around.F.They generally found that their lives were dramatically changed for the better.G.When you do nice things for others, they may do the same and the kindness grows. We always celebrated my Dad’s November birthday on Thanksgiving Day, even after he entered a nursing home.
