弯路一:背字典
都说读书破万卷,但是对于背单词这种技术活来说,使蛮力啃字典是绝对行不通的
对于我们这种记忆力堪忧的孩子来说,就算记住也是一时的
想想那时的我,简直就是搏命三郎,就像吃饭一样背字典,一般都是从“算盘”那个字背起来,背到了con- com-开头的词时开始烦躁,转而从z开始背,背到了x开头的一堆奇葩词时就怀疑人生:这些鸟词用得着么?
弯路二:抱佛脚
每当半期考试,期末考试,我总会给自己即时定一个小目标,每天100个词,每天六小时的学习时间,上午8点到11点,中午吃饭,下午2点到5点,6点吃饭,晚上做其他部分的题目。
抱了一个月的佛脚的我算不是算是毅力顽强呢,恐怕小强也要背我的精神感动到泪牛满面
当然,临时抱佛脚,也不是半点好处都没有。
英语成绩明显比什么都不做的时候好看多了。
然而,一个月过后,当我再次拿起单词书的时候,才发现50%的单词又忘
弯路三:无名师指导
很多时候,我们按照自己的方法去背单词,还背的津津有味,其实都是徒劳无功的。
都说名师如灯塔,当我们在单词的大海中找不到方向的时候,千万不要盲目出发。

曾经掉过的坑误区之首:以为把娃送机构就万事大吉了儿子小班开始在一家机构学英文,那时候机构少,所以交通就是个问题,每次课上一个半小时,路上来回差不多一个小时,回到家大人小孩都很累,赶快洗洗睡。
也因此,潜意识里把上完课和完成英语学习划了等号。
在家很少回顾课上内容,也没有同步的英文阅读,全靠一周两节课。
三年上完了,输出很少,虽然进小学后相比没学过的孩子要好一些,但比起花出去的钱(10年前年均一万的学费肉疼啊),性价比太低,大把的学费扔水里了。
误区之二:等孩子大一点再补回来也一样严格来说,小学三年级开始都不晚。
不过,有一个问题通常进入不了大家的视线,遇到了才恍然大悟。
那就是阅读水平和认知水平的匹配。
阅读水平是孩子可以读懂的阅读材料级别,在英语国家,AR 分级、蓝思Lexile分级都比较常用,比如AR 3.2表示三年级第二个月的水平,蓝思Lexile 500L-700L是美国小学3年级的水平。
英语分级阅读材料的题材、用词、复杂度、深度以及语言中很重要的重复性,在编写时尽量是和年龄相匹配的,这里的年龄是针对母语为英语的孩子。
而英语是二语的孩子们,比如八岁了再启蒙,他的认知水平已经8岁了,但是他能读懂的阅读材料可能是以英语为母语孩子们的四五岁读物。
8岁的认知水平和四五岁的阅读水平,有什么问题呢?孩子觉得幼稚,读不下去。
而且因为是二语,这两者的距离会越来越大。
如今适合小朋友启蒙的原版书/视频/音频是海量的,不适时用真的可惜了。

我在中学开始学习英语。
当然是不自觉地跟着课程走:音标,语法,听写,做练习等等。
就这样,“打下了比较稳固的基础”。
上大学,第一堂英语课,老教授对我们说,学英语有个过程。
什么时候你觉得自己的英语好像越学越糊涂了,我就恭喜你了。
那时,你就快成功了。
当时听了,自然是似懂非懂的。
好在后来自觉真的到了这个境界。
并且明白了,这就是学习上的所谓“高原效应”。
从学习“正确”使用英语表达自己的思想方面来说,我经历过这么几个阶段:1.语法正确right in grammer2.惯用法正确right in usage3.搭配正确right in collocation4.用词准确use the right word5.造句道地idiomatic expression先说语法。
高中时的班主任是英语老师,他抓的最紧的是定语从句。
我们不知反复练了多少遍。
测验、考试,要争100分,自己开列了一张“自我检查表”,提醒自己交卷前自我检查什么什么项目,如:动词第三人称单数加s 了没有,等等。
现在,我们不少人都对学语法颇有微辞。
是的。
大量的阅读是学好任何语文的前提。
所谓rubbish in, rubbish out. 语法,word study,精读课等等,都是一种无奈。
因为我们反对“死记硬背”。
好,要便宜点的?那么,拿这个去试试。
结果,买贵了?大呼上当的人却不多。

我的英语学习经历
我的英语学习经历当你学习英语碰到困难的时候,一定要克服过去。
其实英语学习很简单。
花费时间在英语上,你就一定你能学习好英语。
我目前英语已经到了可以一遍听懂 VOA Special 的程度了。
也可以开口说一些简单的交流。
至少目前我在网络上面碰到讲英语的人,我可以和他交流了。
后面我会继续努力,我肯定可以达到自由交流的程度。
在论坛上面看到很多网友学习英语的焦急顾虑,我很理解他们的心情和想法。
数年前,我的想法也是这样的。
先介绍一下我的英语学习历史。
我上初中一年级开始学习英语。
当时偏僻农村,第一学期,正好当时的英语老师生孩子休假了。
我们就没有上英语课。
在我们一再要求下,学校请了一个高考落榜生来教我们英语。
我们就这样出师不利得开始学习英语了。
开始我的记忆力一般,学习的东西很简单,机械记忆还可以应付。
但是到了初中二年级,我的英语开始落后了。
由于其他功课好,就这样进入了大学。
到了大学。
英语老师讲的我基本都听不懂。
第一次期中考试,我考了一个倒数第一。
老师和我谈话。
我说老师讲中文我听都有些吃力,更别说英文了。
因为从农村的方言到大城市的普通话,还是有些差距的。
不过老师一直很照顾我。
等到考英语四级的时候,我很担心考不过。
向老师讨教经验。
她说我的情况确实不好办,这样吧,你朗读课文吧,最好能背诵下来。
我就很努力得熟读了几乎大学英语的一册书。
结果,我的英语四级通过了。
当时我们班好几个同学英语没有通过。
他们对于我通过了英语四级感觉有些难以理解。
此后,我没有继续朗读英语,因为我发现我的发音和磁带的发音不一样,而且嗓子长期朗读也受不了。
十多年前的大学毕业前考研,我的专业课考了98分,但是英语考虑38分。
很让我郁闷。
此后,断断续续学习了一段时间英语,最后都不了了之。
97年碰到了李阳的疯狂英语,我实践了两个月。
确实有进步。
我虽然可以流利说几句英语,但是我最后领悟到,如果我用这样的精神和精力学习其他东西,例如我喜欢的计算机,我可能会更加容易获得收获。

从小学开始,学英语便是我们学生的必修课之一。
然而,对于我这样一个英语并不优秀的学生来说,学习英语一直都是一件难事。
但是,在坚持不懈的学习中,我逐渐找到了适合自己的学习方法。
1. 初步学习阶段
最初学习英语时,我只是机械地背单词、做题目,却没有真正的理解语言的用途和意义。
在这个阶段,我虽然得了不错的成绩,但是却没有建立起自信心,认为自己只是在应付考试而已。
2. 透彻理解阶段
后来,我认识到文化的背景和语言的应用环境对于理解英语的重要性。
于是我开始有意识地阅读有关英语背景和文化的书籍和文章,并尝试着去理解英语的真正用途。
通过这个阶段的学习,我对于英语应用中的文化知识有了更深刻的认识。
3. 实践应用阶段
在理解英语的语言环境和文化背景之后,我开始大胆尝试将英语真正地应用到我的生活中。
例如,我会尝试以英语与同学进行交流,也会主动使用英文搜索资料。
这个阶段,我渐渐找到了自己的学习方法,英语成绩也水涨船高。
4. 深化学习阶段
现在,我已经是一位在英语学习上有一定成就的学生。
但为了进一步提高英语能力,我现在将学习重点转向了深度学习。
比如说,我会尝试着去学习一些更为专业的英语知识,例如独立精读,以及尝试翻译一些技术文献等。
总的来说,在学习英语的过程中,坚持不懈的学习、深入理解语言的用途以及适当地应用英语都是极其重要的。
希望我这份学习心路历程的分享,能够帮助到其他有志于学好英语的学习者。

写作是此时输出的最好手段,因为一般的流利地说已经实现了,再说也是它了,听者也不会因为讲话深度低而有任何意见。而时间的紧迫也不容我们多思考去讲复杂的外语。所以在写作时可以放慢速度仔细斟酌语句。对写作水平本身的训练此时是非常起作用的。同样,对某些优秀文章和演讲的背诵也是提高写作的好办法。
阅读
深度阅读应该是此阶段最有效的提高手段。在这一阶段的应该加强与文化相关的阅读内容。比如Dan Brown的小说,较深地涉及到西方文化和宗教内容,语言流畅而不难懂,是比较合适的读物。(个人认为Angels and Demons 比 Da Vinci Code还精彩,Deception Point 和 Digital Fortress 一般,高科技不是他的长项)。如果对其小说和此宗教话题感兴趣,还可以关注作者的网站并跟踪此话题讨论组。比如关于Da Vinci神秘背景的的探讨:The Secret Life of Leonardo da Vinci:A prankster and genius, Leonardo da Vinci is widely believed to have hidden secret messages within much of his artwork. Whenever theteacher would read a book out loud, I would just get lost and start daydreaming about recess. Conversations were basically impossible to follow at first. And expressions like "piece of cake" or "let the cat out of the bag" make no literal sense! An alien visiting Earth would be so confused by English.Sometimes I think about giving up and just becoming fluent in Esperanto or something logical instead. But my parents and teachers keep encouraging me, saying English is important for my future education and career. Ugh, I guess they're right. I'll just have to power through the craziness!My survival strategy is to take it one day at a time. I use mnemonic tricks to memorize irregular spellings and verb conjugations. 从小学到初中,我的英语成绩一直很不好。

牛人体会:学习英语走过的弯路和误区此贴只给本三和一切以为自己院校的英语系不够壮大的同窗阅读,咱们是本三,没有专家和大师,没有藏书庞大的图书馆,教师们的英语个个都惨不忍睹,咱们是高校扩招的悲剧性人物,可是咱们更是一群热血男儿,不甘愿在破学校里无拘无束,咱们有毅力,既然学校和教师都靠不住,咱们只有去自学,靠自己!礼拜天突发奇想,眼瞅着就快毕业了,给自己的学习做个总结,说是什么成功法门和要领,谈不上,毕竟自己从来就没有做过那种乖乖仔的学生,不管是课上仍是课下,都让教师头痛不已,可是把自己失败的缘故说出来,能给大伙儿提个醒,以后再也不像我如此,我的大学生涯也算是无憾了,先说下个人情形,本三院校,英语专业且是学校第一届开的专业,一共只得30人,常笑称自己可能是全国最差的英语专业。
因为我的专业是山寨的缘故,我专业水平极低,经典的文学,一本都没碰过(若是月亮与六便士算的话,只得这一本),个人一辈子性也是极度厌恶和不擅长考试,每一个学期期末考任何科目都只能勉强合格,一样是在60到65分之间彷徨,六级考试也只得五百多分,接近六百可是没能达到六百一直是我的心头痛,(专四大三才考,成绩还不明)常常性翘课和上课睡觉。
另外取得过的荣誉也极少,得过的那些破奖我是没脸和他人提的,唯一拿的出手的确实是参加过一次CCTV杯的演讲竞赛,打进了全省的前20,那次仍是非常悲剧的被淘汰,去北京的门票连影都没看见过。
可是除考试这一点,我个人是对英语的有效能力是非常看重的,尤其是听说这两块,能够说是下足了硬功夫,关于这一点,没必要讲太多,多听,给自己狂轰滥炸就好了,我反复提过的三本书就把我要说的都说完了,说的比我还好的多:杜子华《英语成功学》,成寒《躺着学英语》(这人的教材也很有一听的价值),钟道隆《逆向英语》。
一切的起点确实是以大量的听力为开始,佐以少而精的听写作为辅助。
可是具体操作起来,不免会走弯路,我把我的跟头和误区都写出来,帮大伙儿节省时刻,让学习效率像火箭一样产生爆炸般的轰动感。

我学英语受过的苦(一)从英语持续五年不及格,到逆风翻盘,杀进前五,到如今做翻译工作,一路上吃了不少苦,实践过很多学习方法,但总对自己的学习状态不满意,纠结于不能达到母语水平。
我们这一代人,学英语的时候太晚了,十岁之后整个语言思维已经彻底被汉语定型,再怎么努力学习,也逃脱不了母语的影响和牵绊。
语言的本质是交流,最频繁的使用场景就是口语交际,可惜我们很难找到这样的语言环境。
有时候即使有了这样的环境,也会有很强的心理负担,怕自己说错了,说的不合语法,发音不够标准。
尤其是发音这一块,感觉国人对标准音有很强的执念,这本来是好事,但也在无形当中拔高了英语学习的要求,很容易让学习者有挫败感,进而陷入习得性无助,这样一来,学好英语就成了无稽之谈,我们反而能听到印度人说着一口浓厚咖喱味的英语,他们的口语能力出众,也爱表现,在国际上更受欢迎。
可见发音不过是纸老虎,不过是某些机构给自己制造的消费入口。
可以这么说,正是因为我们没有多少实际应用的场景,所以我们才更强调发音。
正是因为很多外国人没有到过中国,才会把中国想象成遍地黄金。
人们对自己摸不着的东西总会有过高的期待。
在这迷雾中,我发现背诵才是目前越好英语的最佳方式,曾经有一年半的时间,我疯狂的背诵,确实取得了不错的成绩。
为了怕人笑话,把自己当做另类,一到周末,吃了早餐跑了步,我就躲在隔壁中学的厕所里背诵。
夏天蚊子多,味道难闻,冬天寒风刺骨,背上半个小时就活动活动,以提高体温,尤其是腿脚。
在这种机械般的坚持下,我背完了新概念第二册,背完了一套特别教材,英语成绩也突飞猛进,做题开始凭语感了,写作文也有话要说了,听力也能不是难题了。
虽然现在背诵的劲头松了下来,我仍会不时拿起课文背上几段。
背诵的过程中,我发现自己的心情舒畅了,自信心也恢复了,斗志也一点点积累。
现在背诵英文简直成了我的加油站。

我的英语学习之路〔一〕说起学英语,可谓是有过痛苦与辛酸,也有过开心与喜悦。
但不管如何,多年的风风雨雨,终究没有让自己白白付出,我的英语水平随着年龄的增长而不断地提高。
我觉得这么多年的艰辛值了,下面请大家一起去看看我是怎么度过这段令我终生难忘的英语学习之路。
小学四年级时,我刚接触英语,那时感觉英语这门课十分的新奇有趣,觉得英语很好玩。
有时因为单词有些难记,同学间都开始流行了注白字,喜欢编出很多声音,从而记住了一些单词,比方nose,我们就会记作“你是”,而“你”用我们舟山话很贴近no的发音。
还有很多好玩的英语,在这里就不一一列举了。
在英语老师的帮助下,我们初步学会了26个英文字母,一起去探索英语世界的奇特奥妙。
在课上,如果哪个同学英语讲的好些,英语老师就会把礼物发给他,我也因此拿过几次奖品,现在回想起来还是挺开心的。
但在小学毕业的英语考试中,由于发挥不良,我的英语成绩只有73分,我好难过,为什么,我平时很用心地学习,考试成绩这么差,我有些不甘。
也因为这件事,我还被英语老师叫到了办公室里,被狠狠地批评了一顿,我哭了,为什么老师还要责备一个已经很自责的学生了,但我不怪任何人,只怪自己还在英语学习上很失败。
我反思了很久,作出了一个很重要的决定,我决心全力去提高自己的英语成绩。
上中学后,我开始每天学习英语知识,每天出门一本英语书,回家一本英语书,每学期苦练音标,苦抄单词,苦背对话。
日复一日,我的英语学习基础越来越为扎实。
我开始真正地去走进英语世界,也正因为此,我的其他科目就无法平衡了。
其实,我平时的学习时间基本都用于英语学习了。
我每天回家首先看的必是英语书,有时还会去听听磁带,看看英语专家是怎么在念英语。
每次英语老师在上课的时候,我都会认真地去听课,把一些重要的句型或单词记下了,回到家认真地背诵,所以我的英语语感在初中阶段时就已经不错了,而且也能讲一些简单的英语口语。
渐渐地,我开始迷恋上了英语,并且已经将英语作为自己学习的强项了。

回过头来看看,也经常作些检讨和思考。
现在这里点点滴滴地自说自话,想到那里说到那里,希望能让后来者看到前车之鉴,少走些弯路。
几个阶段我在中学开始学习英语。
当然是不自觉地跟着课程走:音标,语法,听写,做练习等等。
就这样,“打下了比较稳固的基础” (?)。
上大学,第一堂英语课,老教授对我们说,学英语有个过程。
什么时候你觉得自己的英语好像越学越糊涂了,我就恭喜你了。
那时,你就快成功了。
当时听了,自然是似懂非懂的。
好在后来自觉真的到了这个境界。
并且明白了,这就是学习上的所谓“高原效应”。
正像一位得道老禅师讲过的禅悟的三个境界:一,见山是山,见水是水;二,见山不是山,见水不是水;三,见山还是山,见水还是水。
越学越糊涂,大概算是“见山不是山,见水不是水”吧?从学习“正确”使用英语表达自己的思想方面来说,我经历过这么几个阶段:1.语法正确right in grammer2.惯用法正确right in usage3.搭配正确right in collocation4.用词准确use the right word5.造句道地idiomatic expression先说语法。
高中时的班主任是英语老师,他抓的最紧的是定语从句。
我们不知反复练了多少遍。
测验、考试,要争100分,自己开列了一张“自我检查表”,提醒自己交卷前自我检查什么什么项目,如:动词第三人称单数加s 了没有,等等。
前些年,公司招考英文翻译。
先笔试,我出题目。
我找了一段中文,8 行字左右吧。
几十人参加考试。
问:“我不知道“外汇管理局”该怎么叫,咋办?”我说,没关系,写上中文也成,不扣分!中译英,一看搭出来的句子的架构,这人的大致水平也就有数了。
应聘的人们都点头称是,动笔。
结果,还是发现有些人,定语从句里面没有主语的。
没有搞清楚什么叫从句。
说实在的,我这个考试方子也是偷来的。
我自己让人家考,才够损呢。
3个小时,一篇古文译英文。
考场外面放两部救护车―― 参加考试的,有不少老弱病残。
我才出了8 行字左右的现代汉语。
时间不限。
这叫慈悲喜舍?现在,我们不少人都对学语法颇有微辞。
是的。
大量的阅读是学好任何语文的前提。
所谓rubbish in, rubbish out. 语法,word study,精读课等等,都是一种无奈。
因为我们反对“死记硬背”。
好,要便宜点的?那么,拿这个去试试。
结果,买贵了?大呼上当的人却不多。

认得葛老师之前,我比较注重的是阅读。
主要是看些小说。
我自己以为,语法可以了,就差些单词。
自我感觉不坏。
葛老师拿了本《基础英语》(Essential English )第二册,随手抽了篇课文,让我看。
我心想:哪有这么瞧不起人的?!第二册!第四册也不咋的啦。
他微笑,挺损的。
“看完了?”好,我说中文,你用英语说给我听。
写出来也行。
咱又没少做过中译英练习,来吧。
做完了。
葛老师微笑,拍拍我:“小张啊,你的英文我看还没入门呐。
得从头学起!”当然不服气。
好,你看,这个句子,课文不是有的么,现成的。
你没注意。
人家说的一点也不拖泥带水。
你的呢?再看这个句子,反映出来,你根本就没有“惯用法”(usage )的意识。
总之,你从来没有“正确”使用英语表达自己思想的意识。
这一闷棍打的很重。
读理工的人,爱抠语法,但也服理。
怎么个从头学起?这本《基础英语》第二册,你看太浅。
我看还是太深。
这样吧,New Concept 第二册,所有练习,一题不拉。
做一遍,我给看。
这种练习,初看不起眼。
后来,手就有点发抖,常常举棋不定了(小疑则小进?)。
结果是,我自己独立做了两遍!在这段期间,我还读了不少有关的参考书,如钱歌川先生的《英文疑难详解》、托福,等等。
在要使用英语表达自己思想的时候,有了“惯用法”(usage )的意识。
再写出来的东东,大体上就达到了“惯用法”层面上的“正确”。
文章的标题,不是说你“走过的弯路”吗?怎么听起来好像尽是“过关斩将”的?是啊。
“走弯路”难道就不可以走得很顺利吗?许多弯路,其实比直路走起来舒服。
但它确实是弯路,甚至会是大大的弯路。
且听在下慢慢道来。
( to be continued )我学英语走过的弯路(之三)有了语法、惯用法的基本正确,造一个英文句子的基本架构也就有了。
当然,是中国式的。
在学校里,老师要我们用英文造句,回想起来,就是用学到的语法和惯用法作为“粘合剂”,用单词作为基本材料,要用的时候粘粘起来,交卷。
这样造成的英文句子,老外看得懂,但是一定很别扭。
后来,我注意到,一个句子,它的核心部分,一般会是一个“动宾结构“。
也就是及物动词及其所搭配的名词(作宾语)的组合。
中文叫做“动宾结构“。
某种意义上说,这是一种语言最最重要的组合或结构。
在这里,用中文思维指导的英语表达,就得下点功夫了。
比如说:及物动词“看” 和“看”的对象组合而成的“动宾结构“:看电视:watch TV看电影:see movies看书:read books看地图:study a map……等等。
可见,中文的一个“看”字,在英文里会对应不同的动词。
这是我们除了语法、惯用法之外,需要“习得”的。
要通过学习和积累而“习得”。
这一次,我自己学乖了,不等葛老师再给我打闷棍,我自己明白了,还要有“搭配正确right in collocation ”的意识。
搭配,最好是能一套一套地记下来。
这样做,不但可以一箭双雕地在记住动词的同时也记了名词,而且图景具体、印象深刻。
更重要的是使用起来又快又好。
就象用预制件建房屋和用集成电路(IC)制作音响设备一样。
这样的准备,对于口语的“脱口而出”也有很大的帮助,用不到要讲话的时候,只会翻白眼、搔头抓耳:哎呀,我明明学过的,怎么记不起来啊!信手拈来以下数例:填表格to complete / fill out / a form完成任务to fulfil a task抵挡诱惑to resist a temptation形成习惯to form a habit冲洗胶卷to develop a film查地图to study a map查字典to consult a dictionary戒烟to quit smoking继承传统to inherit the tradition开支票to draw a cheque...等等.搭配,是一种语言的约定俗成。
我观察过小学生,他们做母语的搭配练习,做得很快,也不大会出错。
因为这是母语,他们听得多了:完成任务;克服困难;而我们学外语,如果接触的语言材料不多,是不容易“自发”地积累的。
带着学习“正确搭配”的意识,我再来重读New Concept 第二册,就发现自己好像孙悟空从老君炉子里出来,练就了火眼金睛,到处都能看到宝贝。
从此,我在阅读时处处注意观察英语的搭配,受益匪浅。
过去,学课文,背单词,见到task , 记住它是“任务”的意思,就觉得大功告成了。
可是,要“正确”使用英语表达自己的思想,就不能到此为止。
OK, task 是“任务”,可是,如果我要说话,就绝对不会只说“任务”这个词儿。
常见的,我会想说:完成任务。
那么这个“完成”,在英文中该怎么说呢?我会想说:光荣的任务、艰巨的任务,那么这个“光荣的、艰巨的”,在英文中又该怎么说呢?从“用英文表达”的角度看,到了这里,学习task 这个单词的任务,才算初步完成吧?有时我真觉得,“搭配”是一种语言的核心。
学母语的人,其泛读量是外国人无法比拟的。
在大量的泛读中,我们是从一个字词的全方位搭配关系中,朴素地、笼统地、模模糊糊地把握了字义。
我们熟悉,并且能够熟练地使用“苍天“、“苍老“、“苍生“、“苍劲“、“苍茫“、“苍翠“、“苍白“、“苍凉“等等组合或搭配,偏偏会数典忘祖,一下子却回答不出,一个单独的“苍“字,到底是什么意思?它“失落“在这一片搭配的汪洋大海中了。
又比如说,“冒天下之大不韪”,我们都会用。
可是如果中文考试,要你“解释带“点”的字”,而这个“点”就点在这个“韪”字下面,相信没有几个人答的出来。
然而,我们在看英文的时候,又似乎太认真了些,每一个不认识的单词,不查一查词典,好像总是不放心,好像对句子还理解得不够,自己没有把握。
我自己拥有不少英文词典,可是却没有一部好的汉语词典(不是卖弄自己是假洋鬼子)。
看来,学外语确实走了弯路。
如果我们学英文单词也像学中文一样得“不求甚解”,那么,“甚解”其实已经在其中了。
因为通过接触这个词大量得使用情景,我们实际上已经把握了这个词的灵魂。
不管是在词义上,还是在实际使用上。

看见的多,如果视而不见,也是“道地”不起来的。
当然,先要大量接触语言材料。
比较方便的办法,似乎就是阅读。
Rubbish in, rubbish out 嘛。
如果我们脑子里那个硬盘没有输入、储存过大量“道地” 的语言材料,我们说出来,写出来的,又怎么会是“道地”的呢?比如说,某些单词,会有一种典型的、独立的用例,使中国人读来觉得很“别扭“。
然而恰恰是这类句子最有英文风味,如果你想记住某一个单词,挑一句“怪句子“记下来(越“怪“越易记)。
这样不但记住了词义,而且一开始就掌握该词的正确用法和造句。
例如:haunt: I am ~ed by what she told me.她所告诉我的事情,老在我心头萦绕.witness: The year 1990 ~ed a great change in this city.1990年,这城市发生了很大变化.overwhelm: He was ~ed with excitement.他极为兴奋.survive: He ~ed the flood.他从水灾中悻存了下来.rescue: ...her father came to her ~.她父亲来给她解围.说起这个overwhelm ,记得那年的一个晚上,开完会,我们到房间去给老美送点小礼品。
