The teaching materials present the words describing the weather by a weather report which tells the temperature and weather condition of four main cities in China. Students are familiar with “hot”and “cold”which they have learned in the early grades. To do a weather report is a teaching key point for students.Analysis of the students:The fourth grade students can’t focus on a certain point for a long time. However, they have strong curiosity and competitive nature. I use various teaching methods to improve students’ activity and initiative.Teaching aims:Knowledge: Enable students to listen, speak and read new words: weather, cold, cool ,warm and hot.Ability: Enable students to use “It’s... in...”to introduce the weather in different places.Emotion: Cultivate students’ habit of watching the weather report. Enable them to put on or take off some clothes in time according to the weather report. Take care of themselves and their families.Teaching important points:1.New words: weather, cold, cool, warm and hot.2.To use “It’s... in...” to describe the weather in different places. Teaching difficult points:1. The pronunciation of warm, cool and Hong Kong.2. Where is our motherland, China? Let’s find.Is it here? Yes. Compared with other countries, It’s in China. Cold? Hot? Warm? It’s warm in China.Present the sentence structure: It’s in .Lead students to read line by line, two by two.Ask several students to read and praise them timely.Have students to find out the USA in the map. Lead them to say “It’s cool in the USA.” by themselves.3.Set the scene: Mickey will travel to China. He needs to know the weather in different cities.Show the picture of a weather report. And then present today’s weather report for several cities. Have students to use “ It’s in .” to introduce the weather in different cities.( It aims to enable students to practice the sentence structure and prepare for the added activities.)Step 4 Consolidation & Extension (10minutes)1.Do a weather report for Mickey.Tell students that Mickey will travel to Harbin, Beijing, Lhasa and Hong Kong.
