In your introduction, state the purpose of your letter: to identify the job you are seeking. Also, in your introduction try to grab the reader's attention. You can do this by highlighting an impressive accomplishment you have made, mentioning the name of your referral, or by making an interesting observation or compliment about the company you are seeking employment with. Add any additional information such as reasons for making a job change, or why this specific company interests you.

• Inside Address and Salutation The most important feature of the cover letter is the fact that it is personalized and sent directly to the person in charge of hiring. If you are uncertain who this is, call the company. Also, check and double check the spelling of their name. No one likes to see their name misspelled, and besides, it shows carelessness on the writer's part. Get the person's title, too. The name and title will be followed by the company name and address.
my background. In June, I will be graduating from Stanford University with a B. A. in Sociology, and a focus on youth policy. I am interested in applying my education and community service experience to a position such as this one.
As my resume indicates, I have tutored youth in East Palo Alto for several years through Stanford's Barrio Assistance program, and have co-directed a very successful annual campus food drive. As a contributing writer for the Palo Alto Weekly, I have written several articles on youth at risk. During the past two summers, I worked as an Administrative Assistant for two nonprofit organizations where I gained 1) extensive experience with WordPerfect, Lotus, and Excel; 2) the ability to analyze financial statements; and 3) time management and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work with a team.
• Highlighting Your Background
Talk about your pBaidu Nhomakorabeast. Highlight
skills and accomplishments that are important for the job at hand. Refer to your resume (so the employer will read it, too).
II. Cover Letters
1. Purpose and Function of a Cover Letter Generally speaking, a company or corporation will only require a job applicant to send his / her resume and some relevant materials for confirmation. A cover letter is a demonstration of the applicant's enthusiasm about the job. In other words, a resume is kind of passive and is a document that must be prepared in the process of job seeking while a cover letter is quite active and is up to the applicant whether to write it or not.

• Introduction: Expanding on Your Career Objective
Many people think that the cover letter is just
a formality and, at best, a device to draw the
reader's attention to their resume. As a result,
they are content to write a simple cover letter that

does nothing more than directs attention to their enclosed resume and ask that it be reviewed. These people are putting all their confidence in their resume alone. And they may be making a very crucial mistake.
Look at the following example:

• Tell the Employer What You Will Contribute to the Organization Talk about your future. Show how your background can be utilized to benefit the employer. Interject your knowledge of the employer's accomplishments. Showing that you did your homework can give you an edge over the competition. I am confident that my personal interests, academic background, and work experience would meet your needs and contribute to the Mission Youth Development Agency.
2. Components of an Effective Cover Letter
An effective cover letter is generally made up of six components. 1)Your Contact Information 2) Inside Address and Salutation 3) Introduction: Expanding on Your Career Objective 4) Highlighting Your Background 5) Telling the Employer What You Will Contribute to the Organization 6) Asking for an Interview
In many cases, it is the well-crafted cover letter that
gets the applicant the interview, not their resume. There are things a cover letter can do that a resume cannot. The combination of both — a well-crafted cover letter and a strong resume — can give you an edge and an interview.
