Dear leaders,teachers,and fellow students,
Good morning!
Today,I am very honored to stand here and share with you a very important topic—“Habits Formed in Youth Become Second Nature.”This phrase comes from the Western Han Dynasty’s Dai Sheng’s“Da Dai Li Ji·Bao Fu,”meaning that habits formed in childhood become as natural as instinct,as the saying goes,“Habit becomes second nature.”
Good habits are a beauty that is cultivated both inside and out. Externally, good habits can make us look more graceful and charming.A person who always maintains cleanliness leaves a fresh and professional impression;a person who always completes work and studies on time appears responsible and efficient. These good habits not only make others feel comfortable but also improve our learning efficiency and quality of life.
Internally, good habits can elevate our spiritual realm.A person with a reading habit can find wisdom in the sea of books;a person with a habit of exercising can feel the vitality of life through sweat;a person with a habit of learning can continuously progress in the ocean of knowledge.
These good habits can enrich our inner world and enhance our emotional and intellectual intelligence, making us more adept in social interactions and work.
For middle school students, being able to think independently, use time scientifically, and correctly balance study and entertainment are all good habits we should cultivate.I believe middle school students should develop the following three study habits:
The habit of independent thinking. An ancient saying goes,“Learning originates from thinking,”meaning that seeking knowledge requires active thinking. From a thinking perspective, independent thinking mainly refers to independent discovery and analysis of problems, proposing solutions and methods.
In learning, being good at independent thinking means not blindly believing in authority(including textbooks),not expecting ready-made answers, always asking why, using one’s own mind to observe and think, and creatively understanding things and exploring solutions.
Cultivating this habit not only helps with current studies and develops thinking abilities but also lays a foundation for future learning and lifelong careers.
The habit of attentive listening.Listening is the first gateway to receiving information in the classroom. If this gateway is clear, information input is smooth;if it is blocked, information input is hindered. Therefore, the ability to listen well is the primary factor determining how much information is received.
Experts believe that to listen well in class, one should:1.Prepare for the lesson beforehand;2.Pay close attention to the teacher’s cues;3. Carefully listen to other students’speeches or answers;4.Take good notes;5.Prevent distractions;6.Analyze and understand during the lesson.
The habit of practice and reflection. In the learning process,we always do exercises, but completing them is not the end;the important part is extending, expanding, and deepening the knowledge. Therefore, reflection is a crucial step after solving problems.
Generally, after completing exercises, one should reflect on five levels:1. How was it solved?(The method used)2.Why was it done this way?
(The principle behind it)3.Why did I think of this method?(The thought process)4.Are there other methods?Which is better?(Multiple approaches, fostering divergent thinking)5.Can it be adapted into another type of problem?(Promoting thinking development through variations).
So,how do we develop good habits?I believe the key is persistence. When we decide to form a habit,we must have enough perseverance and patience.During this process,we may encounter many difficulties and challenges, but as long as we remain determined and keep trying, we can overcome them and develop good habits.
At the same time,we must learn to reflect and adjust.Sometimes,we may find that some of our habits are not good, and we need to reflect and make adjustments. For example,if we find ourselves procrastinating, we need to create a reasonable study plan and stick to it.
Fellow students, let us work together to develop good habits and enhance our competitiveness.I believe that through persistent effort,we can achieve better results and greater success!Thank you all!。
