(英语)高考英语二轮复习专项训练阅读理解及解析一、高中英语阅读理解1.阅读理解Last week, Vodafone started a test of the UK's first full 5G service, available for use by businesses in Salford. It is part of its plan to trial the technology in seven UK cities. But what can we expect from the next generation of mobile technology? One thing we will see in the preparation for the test is lots of tricks with the new tech. Earlier this year, operators paid almost £ 1.4 billion for the 5G wavelengths, and to compensate for that cash, they will need to catch the eye of consumers. In September, Vodafone used its bit of the range to display the UK's first hologram (全息) call. The Manchester City captain Steph Houghton appeared as a hologram in Newbury. It isn't all holograms, however: 5G will offer faster internet access, with Ofcom (英国通讯管理局) suggesting that video that takes a minute to download on 4G will be available in just a second. The wider application is to support connected equipment on the "internet of things" -not just the internet-enabled fridge that can reorder your milk for you, but the network that will enable driverless cars and delivery drones (无人机) to communicate with each other.Prof William Webb has warned that the technology could be a case of the emperor's new clothes. Much of the speed increase, he claims, could have been achieved by putting more money in the 4G network, rather than a new technology. Other different voices have suggested that a focus on rolling out wider rural broadband access and addressing current network coverage would be more beneficial to the UK as a whole.Obviously, 5G will also bring a cost to consumers. It requires a handset for both 5G and 4G, and the first 5G-enabled smart phones are expected in the coming year. With the slow pace of network rollout so far, it is likely that consumers will end up upgrading to a new 5 G phone well before 5 G becomes widely available in the next couple of years.(1)Why does Prof William Webb say "the technology could be a case of the emperor's new clothes"?A. He is in favor of the application of the new technology.B. 5G will bring a cost to consumers in their daily life.C. 5G helps people communicate better with each other.D. He prefers more money to be spent on 4G networks.(2)The underlined word "addressing" in the fourth paragraph has the closest meaning to________.A. making a speech toB. trying to solveC. managing to decreaseD. responding to (3)The last paragraph indicates that .A. it'll take several years .to make 5G accessible to the public in the UKB. 5G service shows huge development potential and a broad marketC. customers are eager to use 5G smart phones instead of 4G onesD. it's probable that 5G network rollout is speeding up in Britain(4)What do we know about the text?A. Vodafone is successful in spreading the 5G service.B. Steph Houghton appeared as a hologram by 4G.C. The application of 5G will make life much easier.D. 5G phones are available in rural areas of the UK.【答案】(1)D(2)B(3)A(4)C【解析】【分析】本文是一篇说明文。

Well, they wanted to do something useful.Soon, however, they realized what they had undertaken. They moved in with a local family, the Harrisons, and, like them, had little privacy, rare baths, and a blanket of snow on their quilt when they woke up in the morning. Some mornings, Rosamond and Dorothy would arrive at the schoolhouse to find the children weeping from the cold.In spring, the snow was replaced by mud over ice.In Wickenden's book, she expanded on the history of the West and also on feminism, which of course influenced the girls' decision to go to Elkhead.A hair-raising section concerns the building of the railroads, which entailed (牵涉) drilling through the Rockies, often in blinding snowstorms. The book ends with Rosamond and Dorothy's return to Auburn.Wickenden is a very good storyteller. The sweep of the land and the stoicism (坚忍) of the people move her to some beautiful writing. Here is a picture of Dorothy Woodruff, on her horse, looking down from a hill top: “When the sun slipped behind the mountains, it shed a rosy glow all around them. Then a full moon rose. The snow was marked only by small animals: foxes, coyotes, mice, and varying hares, which turned white in the winter.”25.What can we learn about the girls from Paragraph 3?A.They enjoyed much respect.B.They had a room with a bathtub.C.They lived with the local kids.D.They suffered severe hardships.【解题示范】第一步:确定题干中的关键信息:learn about,Paragraph 3;第二步:在确定推理依据的位置或范围第三段之后,再进行推理判断:根据“They moved in with a local family, the Harrisons, and, like them, had little privacy, rare baths, and a blanket of snow on their quilt when they woke up in the morning.(她们和一个当地家庭,哈里森一家一起搬进去,并且和他们一样,几乎没有隐私,很少洗澡,早上醒来时被子上覆盖着一层雪。

高考英语二轮复习专题阅读理解精选1So long as teachers fail to distinguish between teaching and learning, they will continue to undertake to do for children that which only children can do for themselves. Teaching children to read is not passing reading on to them・ It is certainly not endless hours spent in activities about reading. Douglas insists that "reading cannot be taught directly and schools should stop trying to do the impossible^.Teaching and learning are two entirely different processes. They differ in kind and function. The function of teaching is to create the conditions and the climate that will make it possible for children to devise the most efficient system for teaching themselves to read. Teaching is also public activity. It can be seen and observed.Learning to read involves all that each individual does to make sense of the world of printed language. Almost all of it is private, for learning is an occupation of the mind, and that process is not open to public scrutiny. If teacher and learner roles are not interchangeable ,what then can be done through teaching that will aid the child in the quest (探索)for knowledge? Smith has one principal rule for all teaching instructions. "Make learning to read easy, which means making reading a meaningful, enjoyable and frequent experience for children."When the roles of teacher and learner are seen for what they are, and when both teacher and learner fulfill them appropriately, then much of the pressure and feeling of failure for both is eliminated. Learning to read is made easier when teachers create an environment where children are given the opportunity to solve the problem of leaning to read by reading.26.The problem with the reading course as mentioned in the first paragraph is that.A.it is one of the most difficult school coursesB.students spend endless hours in readingC.reading tasks are assigned with little guidanceD.too much time is spent in teaching about reading27.The teaching of reading will be successful if _______________ ・A.teachers can improve conditions at school for the studentsB.teachers can enable students to develop their own way of readingC.teachers can devise the most efficient system for readingD.teachers can make their teaching activities observable28.The underlined word “scrutiny” most probably means"_____________A.inquiryB. observationC. controlD. suspicion29.According to the passage, learning to read will no longer be a difficult task when ______________•A.children become highly motivatedB.teacher and learner roles are interchangeableC.teaching helps children in the search for knowledgeD.reading enriches children's experience30.The main idea of the passage is that ______________ .A.teachers should do as little as possible in helping students learn to readB.teachers should encourage students to read as widely as possibleC.reading ability is something acquired rather than taughtD.reading is more complicated that generally believed【答案与解析】26—30 DBBAC木文是一篇议论文,在对传统的阅读教学方式进行批判的同时,论述了作者自己阅读的教学观:阅读的教与学是两个完全不同的过程。

二轮复习高考英语专题复习阅读理解(附答案)一、高中英语阅读理解1.阅读理解Eating red meat is linked to cancer and heart disease, but are the risks big enough to justify giving up juicy burgers and delicious steaks? Probably not, according to researchers who reviewed data from 12 clinical trials involving about 54,000 people. In a series of controversial papers, the researchers argue that the increased health risks tied to red meat are small and uncertain, and that cutting back likely wouldn't be worth it for people who enjoy meat. Those conclusions go against established medical advice. They were swiftly attacked by a group of famous U.S. scientists who took the unusual step of trying to stop the papers from being published until their criticisms were addressed. The new work does not say red or processed meats like hot dogs and bacon are healthy, or that people should eat more of them. The team's reviews of past studies generally support the ties to cancer, heart disease and other bad health outcomes. But the authors say the evidence is weak, and that there's not much certainty meat is really the cause, since other diet and lifestyle factors could be at play.If the latest example of how divisive nutrition research has become, with its uncertainties leaving the door open for conflicting advice. Critics say findings often aren't backed by strong evidence. Defenders counter that nutrition studies can rarely be conclusive because of the difficulty of measuring the effects of any single food, but that methods have improved.Based on their analyses, the researchers said people do not have to cut back for health reasons. But they noted that their own advice is weak, and acknowledged that they didn't consider factors such as animal welfare and the environment. Indeed, the case that meat production is bad for animal welfare and the environment is stronger than the case that it's bad for human health, according to an editorial that accompanies the report. Not all of the report authors agreed with its conclusions. Three of the 14 researchers said they support reducing red and processed meats. A coauthor of one of the reviews is also among those who called for a publication delay. Those who pushed to postpone publication also questioned why certain studies were included in the reviews while others were left out.As for his own diet, Dr. Gordon Guyatt, a member of the international research team that conducted the reviews, said he no longer thinks red or processed meats have significant health risks. But he said he still avoids them out of habit, and for animal welfare and environmental reasons.(1)What is the author's purpose in writing the passage?A.To introduce a new relationship between health and eating red meat.B.To urge more people to keep away from eating red meat regularly.C.To present a new controversial view on impacts of eating red meat.D.To criticize nutrition studies for lacking of conclusive evidence.(2)What is the author's attitude towards the new research?A.Doubtful.B.Positive.C.Disapproving.D.Objective.(3)Guyatt's avoiding red meats has the weakest connection with_______.A.health risksB.diet habitsC.animal welfareD.environmental protection(4)What can we learn from the recent research?A.Red meats don't have significant health risks.B.Reducing meat consumption will be worth it.C.The report authors have reached a consensus.D.Consuming red meat will do good to health.【答案】(1)C(2)D(3)A(4)A【解析】【分析】本文是一篇议论文,作者对于吃红肉是否与癌症和心脏病有关引用了研究发现、结果、例子等客观数据和事实来写这篇文章。

高考英语二轮复习专项训练阅读理解及解析一、高中英语阅读理解1.阅读理解“Years ago when I was at the Grand Canyon, I remembered someone coming up to the canyon's edge, taking a shot with a camera and then walking away, like 'got it – done', barely even glancing at the magnificent sc ene in front of him,” Linda Henkel, a scientist at Fairfield University, US told Live Science.Henkel was surprised by how obsessed (痴迷的) people are with taking pictures these days - before dinner, during friends' birthday parties, on museum tours and so on.They keep taking pictures because they think that it helps record the moment, but as Henkel's latest study has just found out, this obsession may prevent their brains remembering what actually happened, reported The Guardian. In her study, Henkel led a group of college students around a museum and asked them to simply observe 15 objects and photograph 15 others. The next day the students' memory of the tour was tested, and the results showed that they were less accurate in recognizing the objects and they remembered fewer details about them if they photographed them.''When people rely on technology to remember them — counting on the camera to record the event and thus not needing to attend to it fully themselves, it can have a negative impact on how well they remember their experiences,” Henkel explained. But there is also an exception: if students zoomed in to photograph part of an object, their memory actually improved, and those who focused the lens (镜头) on a specific area could even recall parts that weren't in the frame. So basically, this study is saying that constantly taking pictures can harm your memory. But shouldn't reviewing pictures we have taken help wake up our memories? This is true, but only if we spend enough time doing it.“In order to remember, we have to access and interact with the photos, rather than just collect them,” Henkel told The Telegraph. However, previous research has shown that most people never take the time to look over their digital pictures simply because there are too many of them and they aren't usually very organized on their computers.(1)Why did the author mention Henkel's trip to the Grand Canyon at the beginning? A. To complain about some tourists' bad habits. B. To give suggestions on how to enjoy one's tour.C. To point out people's obsession with taking pictures.D. To describe the beautiful view of the Grand Canyon.(2)What can we learn from Henkel's study?A. Reviewing pictures always helps people bring back memories easily.B. Taking pictures in a museum tour helps students recognize objects better.C. People should spend more time taking pictures than studying real objects.D. Pictures focusing on the details of objects probably improve people's memories.(3)The underlined word “it” in Paragraph 5 probably refers to “________”.A. the cameraB. technologyC. the eventD. an object(4)What is the article mainly about?A. People's obsession with taking pictures and its influence.B. Possible ways of using pictures to improve one's memory.C. Great harm to memory caused by taking pictures constantly.D. 精品例题AThe Grange15 Lamb’s MewsLondonSW19 1PF19th JanuaryDear Ms HawthorneI am writing to express my disappointment with the evening my wife and I spent at your restaurant two nights ago. While the food was,as usual, very good,I regret to inform you that the service from our waiter,Max,was most unsatisfactory.First of all, when we arrived,we discovered our table overlooking the garden had been given away to some other customers. The new table we finally received was by the door and when I complained,Max just laughed. Furthermore,as we were sitting down,he was extremely familiar with my wife, which deeply made her uncomfortable. When our meal came,he served the food casually and at the end cleared the plates in a most rude fashion.Regarding the payment of service,I noticed your menu which says that the matter of rewarding service is at the willingness of the guest. In addition,I should point out that on other occasions I have left at least12 percent. This time,I felt right in leaving nothing.I regret having to write this letter, but as a regular customer I am extremely displeased and did not expect to be treated in this manner.I look forward to hearing from you with a satisfactory reply,or,if you prefer,we could meet in person to resolve this matter.Yours sincerely,Rupert Metcalf1.Mr Metcalf had dinner in the restaurant on ________.A.16th JanuaryB.17th JanuaryC.18th JanuaryD.19th January2.How many complaints does Mr Metcalf have in his letter?A.One.B.Two.C.Four.D.Six.BHave you ever noticed, when looking at a map of the world ,that the east coast of South America and the west coast of Africa look as though they might fit together? If you have, you are not alone,In 1965 the English scientist Sir Edward Bullard used a computer to test the fit of the two continents and found that at an ocean depth of 2000 metres the match was very close indeed. It seems too remarkable to be possible, but there is a lot of evidence 证据 to suggest that Africa was once joined to South America. For example, there is a belt of ancient rocks along the east coast of Brazil which is similar to the rocks across the South Atlantic in West Africa. There is further evidence that existing land masses were once linked. The remains of a 400-to-500-million-year-old mountain chain has been found running down the eastern part of Greenland, western Scandinavia, and through north-west Scotland and Ireland, into western Canada, eventually finding their way to north-west Africa. Then there is the evidence from life itself. In various parts of the world today the same animals and plants can be found on land masses separated by,in some cases, thousands of miles of oceans.Did they develop at the same time in two different places? It seems unlikely.Biologists believe that there must have been land bridges which have now sunk beneath the sea. Also fossils化石 found in sedimentary rocks fossils are the preserved remains of life forms have allowed geologists to trace the same plants from South America, and Antarctica北极 in rocks perhaps 300 million years old.The ice that is now confined to限制 the polar regions北极或南极地区has not always been so limited in extent.Indeed, during a period of the Earth’s history known as the permocarboniferous age二叠石炭纪 about 250~350 million years ago there is evidence from the rocks that there were glaciers covering South America, parts of Africa,India,Australia,as well as Antarctica. On the other hand,in the northern hemisphere北半球,there were deserts. If the continents sparead out as they are today,it is hard to understand how this could be.So there is considerable evidence to show whole continents moved apart, and naturally many people have tried to discover how and why whole land masses moved.3.How many proofs does the author give in the passage?A.3.B.6.C.4.D.7.CThe outburst of joy at the success of China’s national football team in reaching the World Cup finals easily matched the scenes of celebration which attended Beijing’s Olympic bid win. It’s little surprise:football fans had waited 44 years for that moment —three times longer than the seemingly endless World Trade Organization negotiations谈判!The 53-year-old Serb coach教练 Bora Milutinovic is regarded now as nothing less than a saviour by football fans used to years of broken dreams and bitter setbacks.Best known to fans as Milu,he has been believed by many with playing a major role in helping the Chinese team win its tickets to the 2002 World Cup being co-hosted by South Korea and Japan.Having already guided Mexico,Costa Rica,Nigeria and the United States to the World Cup finals,Bora Milutinovic managed to continue his winning streak in China. He made it clear however last Friday in Shenyang Wulihe Stadium that he preferred not to be seen as a miracle worker. Before guiding the Chinese team to the finals,Milu was one of only two coaches in the world to take four national sides to the final stages. The other one is Carlos Alberto u however is the only man to take all for teams to the second round of the finals. And now he was gone on better taking the fifth team to the finals.4.The negotiation of China’s entering the WTO has lasted about ________ years.A.44.B.15.C.22.D.10高考实例1. A.benefit the farmersB.get entertainmentC.show off their wealthD.limit the fox population2.The opponents of foxhunting often discourage the game by ________. A.using violenceB.taking legal actionC.seeking help from farmersD.confusing the fox hunters3.A new law may be passed by the British Parliament to________. A.protect wild animals like foxesB.control foxhunting on a large scaleC.prohibit farmers from hunting foxesD.standardize the behavior of foxhunting4.What can be inferred from this passage?A.Limiting the fox population is unnecessary at all.B.Killing foxes with poison is not allowed by the law.C.Hunting foxes with dogs is considered cruel and violent.D.Foxhunting causes conflicts between hunters and farmers.【语篇解读】文章主要讲述了英国人“猎狐”活动的起源和特点以及反猎狐运动的兴起。

高考英语二轮复习专项训练阅读理解含解析一、高中英语阅读理解1.阅读理解From the loss of wildlife to rising sea levels, we're all well aware of the problems that climate change could cause. But while it may seem like such issues won't affect most of us directly,it looks like future generations could grow up without something that many of us now take for granted: chocolate. According to an essay published by the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, changes to the climate in the regions that produce cacao - the plant from which chocolate is produced - may mean that it will soon become extinct. Most of the world's cacao grows in countries close to the equator, with over half of it growing in the African nations of Ghana and Ivory Coast. It's predicted that by 2050, climate change will have accelerated the rate at which temperatures in these countries rise, making it extremely difficult for cacao to grow there. The problem doesn't lie in increased heat, however, but in lower humidity (湿度),as it's believed that rainfall will stay at the same level if the temperature rises.“In other words, as higher temperatures squeeze more water out of soil and plants, it's unlikely that rainfall will increase enough to offset the moisture (含水量) loss,” Michon Scott, the ess ay's author, wrote. To help fight this problem, researchers from Berkeley University in the US are working on changing the DNA of cacao plants to allow them to survive in dryer conditions by using gene editing technology, according to US News.In the meantime, US company Mars, one of the world's biggest manufacturers of chocolate products, announced in January that it would spend $1 billion to help reduce the effects of climate change.“This is a world issue, and it requires everyone to work together,” Mars spokesperson Barry Parkin told Business Insider. The message here is that if we all do our part, we may be able to prevent some of the worst impacts of climate change. Or if we're unlucky, chocolate will become a thing of the past.(1)What could make it hard for cacao to survive around the equator in the future?A. The increased heat there.B. The higher humidity there.C. The decrease in rainfall there.D. The moisture loss in the soil there.(2)What does the underlined word “offset” in the seventh paragraph mean?A. hold backB. make up forC. protectD. accept(3)What will US company Mars do to help cacao survive?A. It will work hard to plant cacao in greenhouses.B. It will apply gene editing technology in planting cacao.C. It will give financial support to help fight climate change.D. It will develop cacao that can survive in dryer conditions.(4)What may be the best title of this text?A. Chocolate could become historyB. Work together to fight climate changeC. How do we grow cacao in the future?D. How do cacao plants affect climate change?【答案】(1)D(2)B(3)C(4)A【解析】【分析】本文是一篇说明文,未来由于气候的变化,用于制造巧克力的可可树可能会灭绝,所以巧克力有可能会成为历史。

真题体验(2021·全国乙卷C)You've heard that plastic is polluting the oceans—between 4.8 and 12.7 million tonnes enter ocean ecosystems every year. But does one plastic straw or cup really make a difference? Artist Benjamin Von Wong wants you to know that it does.He builds massive sculptures out of plastic garbage, forcing viewers to re-examine their relationship to single-use plastic products. At the beginning of the year, the artist built a piece called “Strawpocalypse,”a pair of 10-foot-tall plastic waves, frozen mid-crash.Made of 168,000 plastic straws collected from several volunteer beach cleanups, the sculpture made its first appearance at the Estella Place shopping center in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.Just 9% of global plastic waste is recycled.Plastic straws are by no means thebiggest source (来源)of plastic pollution, but they've recently come under fire because most people don't need them to drink with and, because of their small size and weight, they cannot be recycled.Every straw that's part of Von Wong's artwork likely came from a drink that someone used for only a few minutes.Once the drink is gone, the straw will take centuries to disappear. In a piece from 2018, Von Wong wanted to illustrate(说明)a specific statistic: Every 60 seconds, a truckload's worth of plastic enters the ocean. For this work, titled “Truc kload of Plastic,” Von Wong and a group of volunteers collected more than 10,000 pieces of plastic, which were then tied together to look like they'd been dumped (倾倒)from a truck all at once.Von Wong hopes that his work will also help pressure big companies to reduce their plastic footprint.29.Why does the author discuss plastic straws in Paragraph 3?A.To show the difficulty of their recycling.B.To explain why they are useful.C.To voice his views on modern art.D.To find a substitute for them.【解题示范】第一步:阅读题干,把握出题意图:Why discuss, plastic straws;第二步:通过题干中的Paragraph 3迅速定位第三段,该段讲的是“全球只有9%的塑料垃圾被回收。

新闻报道类A(2023·安徽省淮南市高三一模)The world's top climate scientists of the IPCC have just released a landmark report, warning about the future of the planet. The headline—burning fossil fuels is already heating up the planet faster than anything the world has seen in 2,000 years. The IPCC is a U.N.body of 195 member states that assesses the science related to the climate crisis on behalf of governments every few years. This is the group that defines the scientific consensus.Hundreds of scientists work on a series of reports, which take years to produce.Governments have to sign off on them. And this one is just the latest big reassessment of the climate that the IPCC has done, but it's the first one that is done in eight years. It also has the clearest, most confident conclusions that have ever been seen in an IPCC report.According to the report, the greenhouse gases that we have already put into the air have warmed up the planet so far by almost 2°F compared to the pre-industrial times. This warming trend appears to be accelerating as the greenhouse gases accumulate in the atmosphere. And if we keep burning fossil fuels, by 2100—so within the lifetime of a child that's born today—the planet could be 5 to 7°F hotter. And one new thing in this report is that it tries to put numbers on what that means. So, for instance, they say heat waves so extreme used to only happen once every 50 years. Now they're happening almost five times more often.Extreme droughts could double or four times in frequency. In some cases, extreme storms could become three times more frequent and drop 30% more rainfall in a day.The scientists say preventing the worst effects will demand a U-turn away from use of fossil fuels. And it depends on us collectively. If every country, every business shifts away from burning gas, coal and oil over the next 30 years or so, we could probably limit this warming trend to a total of less than 3.5°F.1.What's the author's probable purpose of introducing the IPCC in Paragraph 2?A.To make its work better known.B.To respect the scientists' commitment.C.To make the report more convincing.D.To appreciate its great achievements.2.What do you think of the current warming according to the report?A.It results from extreme weather.B.It is running out of fossil fuels.C.It is badly speeding up.D.There is no way to slow it down.3.How do the scientists support their conclusion in the report?A.By defining scientific consensus.B.By using statistics and inference.C.By quoting authority figures.D.By modeling climate change.4.What do the scientists expect people to do?A.Make joint efforts to stop the use of fossil fuels.B.Take positive attitudes to our planet's future.C.Follow the global warming trend collectively.D.Develop new approaches to using fossil fuels.【语篇解读】本文为一篇新闻报道。
