Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Parents are the best teachers. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.Throughout my life, I have been lucky enough to have a very good relationship with my parents. They have supported me, given me necessary criticism, and taught me a great deal about how to live my life. Parents can be very important teachers in our lives; however, they are not always the best teachers.Parents may be too close to their children emotionally. Sometimes they can only see their children though the eyes of a protector. For example, they may limit a child's freedom in the name of safety. A teacher might see a trip to a big city as a valuable new experience. However, it might seem too dangerous to a parent.Another problem is that parents may expect their children's interests to be similar to their own. They can't seem to separate from their children in their mind. If they love science, they may try to force their child to love science too. But what if their child's true love is art, or writing, or car repair?Parents are usually eager to pass on their value to their children. But should children always believe what their parents do? Maybe different generations need different ways of thinking. When children are young, they believe that their parents are always rights. But when they get older, they realize there are other views. Sometimes parents, especially older ones, can't keep up with rapid social or technology changes. A student who has friends of all different races and backgrounds at school may find that her parents don't really understand or value the digital revolution. Sometimes kids have to find their own ways to what they believe in.The most important thing to realize is that we all have many teachers in our lives. Our parents teach us, our teachers teach us, and our peers teach us. Books and newspapers and television also teach us. All of them are valuable.#( Books and newspapers) : Books, newspapers托福写作范文185字第2篇A company has announced that it wishes to build a large factory near your community. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this new influence on your community. Do you support or oppose the factory? Explain your position.New factories often bring many good things to a community, such as jobs and increased prosperity. However, in my opinion, the benefits of having a factory are outweighed by the risks. That is why I oppose the plan to build a factory near my community.I believe that this city would be harmed by a large factory. In particular, a factory would destroy the quality of the air and water in town. Factories bring smog and pollution. In the long run, the environment will be hurt and people’s health will be affected. Having a factory is not worth that rise.Of course, more jobs will be created by the factory. Our population will grow. To accommodate more workers, more homes and stores will be needed. Do we really want this much growth, so fast? If our town is going in growth, I would prefer slow growth with good planning. I don’t want to see rows of cheaply constructed townhouses. Our quality of life must be considered.I believe that this growth will change our city too much. I love my hometown because it is a safe, small town. It is also easy to travel here. If we must expand to hold new citizens, the small-town feel will be gone. I mould miss that greatly.A factory would be helpful in some ways. However, I feel that the dangers are greater than the benefits. I cannot support a plan to build a factory here, and hope that others feel the same way. Nowadays, food has become easier to prepare. Has this change improved the way people live? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. The twentieth century has brought with it many advances. With those advances, human lives have changed dramatically. In some ways life is worse, but mostly it is better. Changes in food preparation methods, for example, have improved our lives greatly. The convenience of preparing food today is amazing. Even stoves have gotten too slow for us. Microwave cooking is much easier. We can press a few buttons and a meal is completely cooked in just a short time. People used to spend hours preparing an oven-cooked meal, and now they can use that time for other, better things. Plus, there are all kinds of portable, prepackaged foods we can buy. Heat them in the office microwave, and lunch at work is quick and easy.Food preparation today allows for more variety. With refrigerators and freezers, we can preserve a lot of different foods in our homes. Since technology makes cooking so much faster, people are willing to make several dishes for even a small meal. Parents are more likely to let children be picky, now that they can easily heat them up some prepackaged macaroni and cheese on the side. Needless to say, adults living in the same house may have very different eating habits as well. If they don’t want to cook a lot of different dishes, it’s common now to eat out at restaurants several times a week.Healthful eating is also easier than ever now. When people cook, they use new fat substitutes and cooking sprays to cut fat and calories. This reduces the risk of heart disease and high cholesterol. Additionally, we can buy fruits and vegetable fresh, frozen or canned. They are easy to prepare, so many of us eat more of those nutritious items daily. A hundred years ago, you couldn’t imagine the process of taking some frozen fruit and ice from the freezer, adding some low-fat yogurt from a plastic cup and some juice from a can in the refrigerator, and whipping up a low-fat smoothie in the blender! Our lifestyle is fast, but people still like good food. What new food preparation technology has given us is more choices. Today, we can prepare food that is more convenient, healthier, and of greater variety than ever before in history. MA If you could change one important thing about your hometown, what would you change? Use reasons and specific examples to support your answer. If I could change one thing about my hometown, I think it would be the fact that there's no sense of community here. People don't feel connected, they don't look out for each other, and they don't get to know their neighbors.People come and go a lot here. They change jobs frequently and move on. This means that they don't put down roots in the community. They don't join community organizations and they're not willing to get involved in trying to improve the quality of life. If someone has a petition to put in a new street light, she has a very hard time getting a lot of people to sign. They don't feel it has anything to do with them. They don't get involved in improving the schools because they don't think the quality of education is important to their lives. They don't see the connection between themselves and the rest of their community.People don't try to support others around them. They don't keep a friendly eyes on their children, or check in on older folks if they don't see them for a few days. They're not aware when people around them may be going through a hard time. For example, they may not know if a neighbor loses a loved one. There's not a lot of community support for individuals. Neighbors don't get to know each other. Again, this is because people come and go within a few years. So when neighbors go on vacation, no one is keeping an eye on their house. No one is making sure nothing suspicious is going on there, like lights in the middle of the night. When neighbors' children are cutting across someone's lawn on their bikes, there's no friendly way of casually mentioning the problem. People immediately act as if it's a major property disagreement. My hometown is a nice place to live in many ways, but it would be much nice if we had that sense of community. People attend college or university for many different reasons (for example, new experiences, career preparation, increased knowledge). Why do you think people attend college or university? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.People attend colleges or universities for a lot of different reasons. I believe that the three most common reasons are to prepare for a career, to have new experiences, and to increase their knowledge of themselves and the world around them.Career preparation is becoming more and more important to young people. For many, this is the primary reason to go to college, They know that the job market is competitive. At college, they can learn new skill for careers with a lot of opportunities. This means careers, such as information technology, that are expected to need a large workforce in the coming years. Also, students go to colleges and universities to have new experiences. This often means having the opportunity to meet people different from those in their hometowns. For mosts tudents, going to college is the first time they’ve been away from home by themselves. In additions, this is the first time they’ve had to make decisions on their own. Making these decisions increases their knowledge of themselves.Besides looking for self-knowledge, people also attend a university or college to expand their knowledge in subjects they find interesting. For many, this will be their last chance for a long time to learn about something that doesn’t relate to their career.I would recommend that people not be so focused on a career. They should go to college to have new experiences and learn about themselves and the world they live in. It has been said, “Not every thing that is learned is contained in books.” Compare and contrast knowledge gained from experience with knowledge gained from books. In your opinion, which source is more important? Why?“Experience is the best teacher” is an old cliché, but I agree with it. The most important, and sometimes the hardest, lessons we learn in life come from our participation in situations. You can’ learn everything from a book.Of course, learning from books in a formal educational setting is also valuable. It’s in schools that we learn the information we need to function in our society. We learn how to speak and write and understand mathematical equations. This is all information that we need to live in our communities and earn a living.Nevertheless, I think that the most important lessons can’t be taught; they have to be experienced. No one can teach us how to get along with others or how to have self-respect. As we grow from children into teenagers, no one can teach us how to deal with peer pressure. As we leave adolescence behind and enter adult life, no one can teach us how to fall in love and get married. This shouldn’t stop us from looking for guidelines along the way. Teachers and parents are valuable sources of advice when we’re young. As we enter into new stages in our lives, the advice we receive from them is very helpful because they have already bad similar experiences. But experiencing our own triumphs and disasters is really the only way to learn how to deal with life.。

We shape our buildings and afterwards our buildings shape ”模板:I believe this statement should be interpreted broadly—to mean that we are influenced by the exterior shape of buildings, as well as by the arrangement of multiple buildings and by a building’s various architectural and aesthetic While I doubt that buildings determine our character or basic personality traits, I agree that they can greatly influence our attitudes, moods, and even life点评:这种写法比起直接开门见山亮观点的写法来说可能更加稳妥一些,毕竟先简单复述题目再表达自己观点是托福官方指南OG中比较推荐的开头写法。

Which of the following do you think is the best way?1) Providing a room for quiet study2) Building an exercise room3) Providing entertainment place (watch film)范文If a university wants to improve the quality of life for the students, it should install an exercise room in each dormitory. Exercise balances out a quiet lifestyle based on studying(运动万能句). An exercise room could contain equipment that is impossible to keep in a dorm room, give students as safe place to work out, and provide an opportunity to meet people with the same interests. Exercise is essential for students, but often they neglect working out and focus only on studies. An exercise room in the dormitory would be easily accessible, so would encourage students to take a short break to keep their bodies fit. An exercise room could contain equipment such as weight benches and stationary bicycles(器械名称积累) that are too big to keep in the individual dorm room or too expensive to buy or transport from home. An exercise room, therefore, would be a great investment for the university because it would provide the students with training facilities that they would not otherwisehave access to without leaving the campus. A dormitory exercise room is also a wise idea because students would have a safe place to work out. The university could ensure that the equipment is clean and operating properly. On top of that, students would not have to leave the building to work out. Staying inside benefits the students in two ways. First, they do not have to worry about walking alone, possibly late at night when classes are over. That way they do not have to risk trouble with strangers or people following them. Second, they are not exposed to a severe change in temperature. For example, working out in a warm place and stepping outside in the winter, a person can become sick. Such problems are prevented by staying in the same building. Another reason to have an exercise room is to encourage students tointeract with each other(社交万能句). Students may find it fun to exercise together, urging each other on. Students who enjoy exercising can meet each other and become friends. If the students only exercise on their own, they may not realize that someone else has the same interests. Even if they live in the same dorm, they might not have the same classes, and therefore, not have any reason to speak to each other. A common bond of working out together could be formed if the university installed exercise rooms. An exercise room allows students to work out on equipment they can’t bring from home in asafe environment with other students who enjoy the same activities. Therefore, adding an exercise room is a great investment for a university.balance out平衡,抵消work out锻炼on top of that除此以外to risk trouble with _X冒着与 _X 产生麻烦的风险a severe change in temperature天气的剧烈变化urge each other on相互督促托福写作高分模板2题目:Do you agree or disagree with the following statement:In order to success in study or job, the ability to adjust or adapt to changing condition or circumstance is more important than having knowledge.Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. For success in work or school, it is more important to be able to adapt to new circumstances than to have specific knowledge. While knowledge is of course needed to get a job done, a person who can adapt well can find the information needed to succeed. A person does not need to know everything as long as he knows how to find answers. This point is made clear through a simple situation: a person needs to make a telephone call. The person can remember the telephone number and make the call. However, a person without that knowledge can still make the call if he is flexible enough to search for the phone number from a friend, a phone book, the internet, or other resource. It is clear that ability to learn is more effective than knowing the answerwhen an unfamiliar phone number is needed.A person who can adapt can also bring new innovations to a workplace. Instead of just following the same pattern that everyone else uses, the adaptable personcan see better ways to complete tasks. For example, he could streamline processes or simplify procedures so that time and money is saved. The person is a much more valuable asset to the company than a person who sticks to routine. The adaptable person is therefore more likely to be promoted or given pay raisesbecause of his productivity. Finally, an adaptable person can better handle crises or unexpected situations. Even if he does not have specific answers, he can react quickly and capably in an emergency. A dramatic example is when a fire breaks out in the building. A person who does not adapt well may panic or freeze. Alternately, he may stubbornly try to complete a task such as shutting down his computer before fleeing the building. By contrast, the adaptable person does not need to know procedures to use unfamiliar fire extinguishing equipment, seek safety, or help others find their way out of the building. This ability to deal with problems helps in ordinary situations such as organizational restructuring or transfers, too.The ability to adapt helps a person succeed in many aspects of work and regular life. The person can solve problems, create more productive systems, and react effectively in new situations. Therefore, the ability to adapt is more important than having specific knowledge.词句积累knowledge is of course needed to get a job done 完成工作当然需要知识the adaptable person 适应性强的人streamline processes 精简流程simplify procedures 简化程序stick to routine 坚持常规pay raises 涨薪react quickly and capably in an emergency 在紧急情况下反应迅速和敏捷托福写作高分模板3题目Do you agree or disagree with the following statement:Nowadays, children rely too much on the technology, like computers, smartphone, video games, for fun and entertainment; Playing simpler toys or playing outside with friends would be better for the children's development.Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.范文1:Argument 1 (for)Children today rely too much on technology for entertainment. If children played with simple toys or spent time outside with friends, they would be physically healthier, be better at social interactions, and would have a working basis for many practical sciences. Probably the most obvious benefit of stepping away from technology and into the outdoors is an increase in physical activity, which directly transfers to increased health.Countless studies have shown that excessive sitting and watching a screen leads to obesity, heart disease, and other disorders(不运动的坏处). If kids are restricted in their use of technology, they will have to move more. They will have better eye-hand coordination from manipulating toys and throwing balls; they will have more muscle tone from running and riding bicycles or balancing on skateboards. Increased activity directlytranslates into increased physical health(运动的益处万能句). Another reason that children should be encouraged to use less technology is so that they increase their social skills. If children interact, they naturally learn basic skills such as sharing and taking turns(社交的益处万能句1). In addition, their compassion and understanding will also grow(社交的益处万能句2). Children who interact with each otherbecome more articulate in speaking and expressing a wide range of ideas(社交的益处万能句3). Such opportunities do not exist when the child is hidden inside the house playing video games; such interaction is only possible face-to-face. Therefore, children should be encouraged to play with each other rather than entertaining themselves using technology. A final benefit of using simple toys is that children get a wide range of experiences that form the backbone of later study about sciences such as physics and engineering. By playing with blocks, bicycles, and balls, kids learn about balance, velocity, and gravity. Of course, the kids are not mastering the math behind the principles. However, they are developing a sound working knowledge that will help them understand the concepts in a way that they cannot do in the unreal world of video games where magic and fantasy are commonplace.Playing with friends and simple toys, children become physically fit, develop social skills, and create a foundation for later study of the sciences. Therefore, children should be encouraged to spend more time doing such activities rather than entertaining themselves with technology.step away from远离,摆脱eye-hand coordination手眼协调take turns轮流,依次become articulate in _X在 _X 方面变得清晰form the backbone of _X构成了 _X 的基础in a way that YYY以一种 YYY 的方式托福写作高分模板4题目A government plans to spend money for all adults over 25-year-old to take a training course about the most up-to-date skills for the workplace. Do you think it is an effective plan? Why or why not? I think that it would be an effective use of money if the government paid for all adults over 25 years old to take training courses to update their work skills. Although such a program would involve certain expenses, the benefits for individuals and society would outweigh any negatives associated with a well-run continuing education program.First, I want to qualify that such a program would be optional rather than mandatory. People who do not want to take classes would likely not pay attention or would avoid attending, wasting money that could be better spent elsewhere. Therefore, the program should be optional for anyone who is truly interested in improving skills. It is good for the government to offer such a program for all adults rather than to ones in certain fields orholding certain ranks. That way, the government ensures that everyone has a fair chance to develop without prejudice. For example, if only managers could participate, it might limit the average worker’s ability to advance to higher levels. It is also important that the skills offered in the program are relevant to the individual’s career path and interests. Given such a program, adults could perform their duties better. They would be more efficient and productive. Companies would have a larger pool of trained workers to draw upon for all departments. Especially in this world of rapidly-changing technology and innovative new equipment and materials, it is important that workers learn the newest methods rather than stagnate. Workers with the latest knowledge in the field would be positioned to further development and increase production. If production increases, the economy will prosper. Businesses can thrive as people make goods and services and earn salaries that allow them to buy those products, creating an upward spiral. If all adults improve work skills, not only the marketing sector but also such areas as the arts and health-care sectors will improve. Lives will be enriched on all levels by better entertainment and better standards of living. The government benefits from increased income from taxes. At the same time, it has decreased expenses related to caring for the unemployed or sick.By paying for adults to take training courses relevant to their jobs, the government creates a win-win situation in which the workers are able to find jobs and perform them efficiently. Productive companies lead to a strong economy that is able to support its own government. Therefore, governments should consider financing training courses for all adults.词句积累well-run 运行良好的be optional for 可选择的draw upon 利用rapidly-changing 急剧变化的upward spiral 螺旋式上升benefits from X 从X受益relevant to 相关的。

You need to travel from your home to a place 40 miles (64 kilometers) away. Compare the different kinds of transportation you could use. Tell which method of travel you would choose. Give specific reasons for your choice. There are many different types of transportation which I could use to travel 40 miles from my home. The type of transportation I would choose depends mainly on how fast I need to get there and how much money I have. Some possibilities are walking, horse backriding, driving, or using a taxi, bus, or train. The most economical choice is walking. It costs nothing, is healthful, but it is time consuming. The average person can walk about 4-5 miles per hour, so this trip would take atleast 10 hours to complete. That means I would probably have to spend the nightsomewhere along the way. If I have to spend money for a hotel, then this choice really isn'tfree. Plus, I might arrive at the end tired and with sore feet! After walking comes animaltransportation. In my area, horses are not common, so it wouldn't be a likely choice. I believe that a 40-mile trip would take 2 or 3 hours on a horse. If I had free access to a horse, the cost would be minimal. Of course, I'd have to know how to ride! With a car, the travel time is minimal (under one hour), with onl the cost of gasoline toconsider. However, I don't own a car, and car rentals are expensive. Shared taxis are oneform of affordabletransportation, with 4 or 5 people sharingthe cost of a car trip to acommon destination. The only downside is finding people to share the fare with me.Fortunately, I live in an urban area, where there are buses and 'trains to ride. One of these would be my first choice. In short the kind of transportation depends on how fast I need to get to my destination and how much money I have. If I need to get there fast, and money isn't important, I can hire a private taxi.Since I don't own my own car, I don't have that option, and I have never walked 40 miles in one trip. I usually depend on the bus and trains, and would do so in this circumstance. They are cheap, dependable and reliable. When you write your answer, you are not limited to the examples listed in the question. It is generally agreed that society benefits from the work of its members. Compare the contributions of artists to society with the contributions of scientists to society. Which type of contribution do you think is valued more by your society? Give specific reasons to supportyour answer.Artists and scientists both make valuable contributions to our society. It may seem sometimes that artists are more valued. That's because those artists who are famous make a lot of money. However, they are relatively few. The fact is that scientists are more valued. They get more respect from society for the work they do.Artists reflect their times and their culture. A painter or a writer shows us in pictures and words what we're like as a people. They record our culture for future generations.Actors and other performers, like singers and dancers, entertain us. They take our minds off our troubles, and remind us how beautiful and exciting our imaginations can be. Artists also help keep their societies mentally and emotionally healthy. For example, children that participate in the arts, such as painting or music, in school do better in their other studies. Art of all types is necessary to the human spirit. The contributions scientists make to society are more obvious. They include the cars we drive, the computers we use at home and at work, and the appliances that help us cook our meals and clean our houses. All of these come from the ideas and hard work of scientists.Because of scientific discoveries, we're living longer and more healthful lives. Scientists also contribute to the arts. Movies are the result of science. So are television, radio, and the recording of music on CDs.Generally, scientists don't make as much money as famous artists like film stars, opera singers or successful painters. However, our society gives them more respect, and they generally make a good living. Scientists are considered to be serious professionals, while artists are sometimes viewed as flaky, irresponsible people. So overall, I'd have to conclude that we value scientists more. Some people believe that the best way of learning about life is by listening to the adviceof family and friends. Other people believe that the best way of learning about life is throughpersonal experience. Compare the advantages of these two different ways of learning about life. Which do you think is preferable? Use specific examples to support your preference. Both learning through personal experience and learning through the advice of others can help you in life. If you don't have a lot of knowledge about something, the advice of people you trust can be very valuable. They can tell you about their own experiences, and about the advantages and disadvantages of a situation. Then you can consider your ownwants and needs and decide what you should do. Pretty soon, you'll have more experience of your own. When you 're thinking about what you want to do with your life, friends and relatives are a great resource. They can give you information about things like jobs, school, volunteering, and traveling to other parts of the world. They've done a lot of learning in their lives, and you can use it to decide what you want to do with yours. In some cases, there's no real substitute for personal experience. For example, I really don't like to make presentations in class. I know I'll make mistakes, even if I'm thoroughly prepared and know all about my topic. Nothing but experience can help me deal with the nervousness I feel. I know that the feedback I get from the teacherand from the other students will help me learn from those mistakes. At least I'm confident that the next class presentation I make will be much better than the last one.In the end, I think that the best way to learn about life is by experiencing it firsthand. No one else can teach you how to get along with other people, how to realistically judge your own abilities, or how to understand who you are. You can only learn these things by dealing with situations every day. Experience is the best teacher. The speaker raises serious counterarguments against the reading paragraphs by providing drastically different evidences regarding the effects of the advertisement, the impact of self-selecting medication, and the impact of trends in thepharmaceutical industry.Firstly, knowing more information from the ads will not necessarily help the patients make better-informed decisions, as the reading argues. On the contrary, patients, without professional training and knowledge, will be more susceptible to misunderstanding information. For example, they would focus only on the positive sides of a certain medicine while ignoring the serious side effects. In addition, if the patients bear the responsibility of prescribing their own medication, they assume more responsibility to their own health. This makes doctors less liable for potential risks and undesirable consequences.Lastly, as for the new trends' benefits to the patients, the speaker does not challenge the reading directly. Instead, he argues that the new medicine, which will count for most of the ads may not necessarily be the best medicine, even though the patients can inform their doctors about the new products.

Task:It has been said, “Not everything that is learned is contained in books.” Compare and contrast knowledge gained from experience with knowledge gained from books. In your opinion, which source is more important? Why?. We all crave knowledge, especially in this Age of Information, but what is the best source of knowledge? Are we to believe Albert Camus, who stated” The place we are to get knowledge is in books”? Or are we better served by following Albert Einstein's counsel that “The only source of knowledge is experience”? Although books have their place in one's learning, there is no substitute for experience; indeed, it is experience that is ultimately the most important source of knowledge.First, let us consider the knowledge needed to undertake a profession-for example, that of a physician. Knowledge gained from books provides the foundation of a doctor's training: study in a medical school begins with a near-overload of reading on anatomy, physiology and maladies both rare and common. However, during this time the medical student is also learning through experience, beginning with dissecting cadavers from almost the first day of medical school. Then, the aspiring physician must complete four years of residency, consisting of actual supervised experience at a hospital in which he or she now must put into practice all of the knowledge he or she has edge of dealing with patients, prescribing medication, and the joy and sadness of saving and losing patients; in other words, it is through experience that these residents finally learn what it means to be a doctor. What about knowledge other than professional expertise-for example, knowledge about another culture? In this realm as well, both books and real-life experience enrich and edify us. For example, Paris is perhaps the most talked-about and written-about city in the world. We could read Hemingway's A Moveable Feast, in which he describes the excitement and intellectual spirit-as well as the restaurants and plentiful red wine-of Paris in the 1920's. Or, we could travel to Paris and eat at bistros, walk across the Pont Neuf and look at the river Seine, visit the Louvre museum, and have adventures of our own. Clearly, most people would have attained more lasting and vivid knowledge by visiting Paris on their own rather than reading about it secondhand. In summary, experience, rather than books, is more central to our quest for learning, especially with regard to professional expertise. With regard to learning about another culture, experience is also irreplaceable. Yet not everyone in the world will have the health or financial resources to carry out a trip to Paris. But many people have access to a local library where they can borrow A Moveable Feast and, at no cost, read Hemingway's vibrant descriptions of Paris. We cannot forget the complementary and unique knowledge afforded by books, but experience is the most precious source of knowledge. Some people say that computers have made life easier and more convenient. Other people saythat computers have made life more complex and stressful. What is your opinion? Use specificreasons and examples to support your answer. Some universities require students to choose a variety of subjects; others only require students tospecialize in one subject. I deem the first one as the premier choice. Among countless factors, there are three conspicuous aspects as follows. The main reason for my propensity that students should take classes in many subjects is that theycan make full use of the abundant resources that a university has to offer. A university has plentyof educational and research resources. It is a very good idea to make full use of these valuableassets while studying in the university. The best way to achieve this is to take a variety of subjectsas much as possible. Through learning these courses, a student can get access to knowledge andresources in different areas. On the contrary, if a student only specializes in one subject, he willnot have a chance to get access to other resources offered by the university.Another reason can be seen by every person is that by choosing many subjects students can broaden their knowledge and make a solid foundation for their future concentrated study. Whatever the student will concentrate on in his senior years in college, it is necessary that hechoose a wide range of subjects to build the knowledge foundation. Take the field of BusinessManagement for example, the student has to acquire knowledge in writing, accounting, economicsand human resource management before he can successfully start his major concentration argument I support in the first paragraph is also in a position of advantage because studentscan be more adaptable in their future career if they choose a variety of subjects during theiruniversity study. It is obvious that the development of modern society requires people with inter-disciplinary and comprehensive knowledge. If a student chooses a variety of subjects in hisuniversity study, and gained a breath and width of knowledge, he will be more adaptable to therequirement of the society, and be able to easily adjust to many kinds of jobs. This will benefit hisfuture career. In a word, taking into account of all these factors, we may reach the conclusion that studentsshould take classes in many subjects in a university. In 1990, new rules and guidelines were adopted in the United Kingdom that has changed the whole field of Archaeology in that country. The new guidelines improved the situation in all there areas discussed in the passage.First, the new guidelines state that before any construction project can start, the construction site has to be examined by archaeologists to see whether the site is of archaeological interest or value. If the site is of archaeological interest, the next step is for the builders, archaeologists and local government officials to get together and make a plan for preserving the archaeological artifacts, either by building around them or by excavating and documenting them properly before the construction is allowed to proceed.Second, an important part of the new guidelines is a rule that any archaeological work done on the construction site will be paid for by the construction company not by the government. The construction company has to pay for the initial examination of the site, and then for all the work carried out under the preservation plan. This is a whole new source of financial support. The funding from construction companies has allowed researchers to study a far greater range of archaeological sites than they could in the past.Last, the new guidelines provide a lot of paid work for archaeologists, work that didn’t exist before. Expert archaeologists are now hired at all stages of the process to examine the site for archaeological value, then to help draw up the preservation plan to do the research in a professional scientific manner and finally to process the date and write reports and articles. The increased job and career opportunities in Archaeology have increased the number of professional archaeologists in Britain, which is now the highest it’s ever been. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? The best way to travel is in a group ledby a tour guide. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. There are a lot of views whether the best way to travel is in a group led by a tour guide. Differentpeople has different viewpoint. In my opinion, a group led by a tour guide is the best way totravel. The argument for this view goes as follows:In the first place, there are many advantages when people travel in a group. First, people will notfeel boring in a long trip. People can talk, laugh and make joking like a big family. Second, thegroup will help you a lot when you have any emergency. The people in the group could help youfigure out the awkward situation that will be unimaginable when you travel alone. Third, with thegroup discount, such as the discount for airplane ticket, the hotel, and the admission ticket, travelers can save a lot of money when they use the group discount. In the second place, there are many advantages too when people travel led by a tour guide. Thetour guide will arrange all the details about the trip in advance. The traveler need not worry aboutwhere to find the hotel, where to rent the car, and how to find the direction. It will make the trip a little bit easy. Another advantage is that led by a tour guide will save much time than travelingalone. With the professional knowledge, tour guide will make the smartest schedule. I wouldnever forget that one of my friend, a city tour guide in the Shanghai, China, said that she can leadtraveler to visit the whole city by one day which people should spend two or three days to finishit. In conclusion, there are many advantages when people travels in a group led by a tour guide, suchas save money, save time, do not feel boring, and is easy to take care of. Therefore, I stronglyagree that the best way to travel is in a group led by a tour guide.。

Nowadays, the annual incomes of many sports stars and film stars come to millions of dollars. Some people claim that their salaries are too high. Yet, in my opinion, such salaries are well deserved. They work hard to become famous, provide entertainment for us, and win honors for their countries.First, famous athletes and entertainers make painstaking efforts to achieve fame. Fame is a wonderful thing to have, but it seldom appears overnight. Famous people have worked hard for years to achieve their fame today and they have to continue their good work to maintain it. For their hard work, sports and entertaining stars deserve to be generously rewarded. Unfortunately, people tend to focus on the huge amounts of money made by them. They rarely appreciate the efforts that athletes and entertainers have to make in order to achieve the fame that they have today. For example, in order to win the first place in a 100-meter dash, an athlete has to cover hundreds of miles during training. Famous stars deserve their high salaries because they have worked hard.Second, sports and entertaining stars provide us with good entertainment. On weekends, many of us attend a football match that includes Beckham, see a movie that stars Julia Roberts, or go to a concert that features Celine Dion. These people help us make good use of our free time by entertaining us. As a result, we feelinspired as well as relaxed. In other words, we feel energetic again after attending the events. We even feel that we have more to enjoy in life and have new aspirations. For such reasons, these people are worth their high salaries.Third, athletes and entertainers win honors for their countries. For example, after four years’ hard work, many athletes win gold medals at the Olympics Games. They are able to make millions of dollars a year after the games. Such high salaries are justified, because these athletes have won honors for their countries in the most competitive arena and have made their people proud, something few people can even dream of. This is true for entertainers as well. Many actors and actresses receive high salaries after they have won Oscars or prizes at Cannes Films Festival. Those people also deserve high salaries, because they have made a name in films for their country and have made their country better known by people elsewhere in the world. All in all, famous athletes and entertainers merit their high salaries, for their hard work, entertainment they provide, and their contribution to their country. If I had a chance, I would be a famous star who can make millions of dollars a year. No matter who you are, you are definitely in a dire need for excitement and thrill. Then, a controversy might appear among the public whether citizens should only watch those movies that can teach something in real life. Some of you may only watch those movies that can help to expand one’s knowledge and reveal the life stories, however, I strongly disagree with the statement and I think there will be a variety of reasons to watch movies.Initially, entertainment is the principle reason for the entire world watching movies. Be it comedy, science-fiction, drama or action, movies are a medium of leisure and recreation for every single individual ranging from those on streets to the high and mighty residents in penthouses. Put it in another words, the greatest of all benefits of watching a movie is that it entertains you and calms your tumultuous heart down. Take me as an example. I feel very tired after the full devotion to my career in a week and there is no time for the gym and outdoor activities just because of the busy work schedules. Then, I will choose to lie on my couch and watch movies of many kinds with a bowl of munchies like popcorns and sodas during the weekends. By being engrossed in a comedy show that can evoke hearty laughs, I will encounter situations with a positive frame of mind. Besides, when watching the horror movies, I will feel excited, scared, and emotional during those two and a half hours, leading me to be transferred to a world far away from the reality. Obviously, no matter what kind of movies they are, they will be worth watching if they can entertain you.Another general concern about movies is that they can help fasten the bonds between families. More often than not, what audiences are more focused on, during the process of watching movies, is the time they spend with their families rather than the well-orchestrated plots or the life lessons they might disclose. Current citizens can afford to spend too much time having fun like traveling around the city or having a party because most of them are under huge pressure from the society and most of their time has to be occupied by a variety of professional tasks. However, watching movies won’t consume too much time, serving as a stress buster and lubricant to strengthen relationshipwith families. Almost at every weekend, I will hang out with my girlfriend to watch movies whatever the genre is and staying with each other at that moment can help shorten our mental distance and we can just hold hands of each other and feel so close between us. Accordingly, my personal experience can help explain how we spend with our families or lovers like watching movies matters more than what we can learn from the movies. In a word, I don’t think only those movies that tell us important life stories are worth watching. What I truly believe is those movies that can entertain audiences and provide viewers with a chance to stay with each other are more welcomed. As the technology of public transportation keeps advancing, more citizens can choose to dwell in the cities that are beneficial to their own development. Inevitably, there occurs a controversy whether moving to a new city or country will lead to the rupture of relationship among friends. From my perspective, I think the statement is not sensible.Firstly, moving to a new country or city will not result in the loss of old friends. To be more specific, the maintenance of friendship doesn’t lie in how far they l ive with each other and the development of technology has diversified the ways of interacting with friends. The invention of cellphones break the shackles caused by distance and overseas students can choose to communicate with their family members and friends through a variety of Apps like WeChat that makes video calls possible. Except for that, by looking at the pictures popping up all over the social media like Facebook, people can easily capture what is happening to their friends. For instance, my friend Selina took selfie in the Sydney Opera House a week ago and I would learnthat she was having fun in the Australia with her picture posted on the Instagram. Therefore, a wide range of advanced electronic gadgets can be used to sustain friendship. Moreover, instead of losing old friends, city migrants can even enlarge their social circles and achieve more success. Restricted in a city for a long period, people may be trapped in a situation that would block their development and they can gain refreshing experience while immigrating to a new city. My friend of Mine named Michael served as a Market Analyst in a renewed company in Beijing. However, he couldn’t see any progress in recent years and then an opportunity comes out. Because of his five-year working experience, a foreign trade cooperation tried to recruit him as the Market Analyst because the firm was planning to start a new program. Then he grasped the chance and earn a challenging life that he likes even though he was required to work in Shanghai. Our relationship have not experienced any interruption and his strong ability of being adapted to the new environment helps him to make lots of new friends. Accordingly, moving to a new city can, occasionally, help to break the deadlock in our professions.Admittedly, it can be sensible that friends can be estranged owing to the long distance with each other. Specifically speaking, the chances to meet with each other will be limited a lot. However, as I just put, for one thing, people can talk with each other through various social network software. For another thing, the distance between cities is not a problem anymore since there have been many public transportation tools like the high-speed trains and airplanes that will lead us to anyplace we try to go in a very short period. In a word, moving to a new city or a new country is goodchoice under some circumstance. Besides, the highly developed technology can help to strengthen the relations with our friends and the possibilities of living a different life and achieving success can both explain why I stand by the statement that it is a good thing to move.。

it will specifically harm only the cane toads. The virus will control the population of cane toads by preventing them from maturing and reproducing.ListeningThe cane toad won’t be as easy to get rid of as the reading suggests. The measures proposed by the reading are likely either to be unsuccessful or to cause unwanted environmental damage.First of all, a national fence probably won’t stop the spread of the toad. That’s because young toads and toad eggs are found in rivers and streams. No matter where the fence is located, at some point there will be rivers or streams flowing from one side to the other. These waterways will be able to carry the young toads and their eggs to the other side.Since it’s only necessary for a few young toads or eggs to get through the fence in order to establish population on the other side, the fence is unlikely to be effective.Secondly, a massive group of volunteers could have success trapping and destroying toads. But it’s likely that these untrained volunteers would inadvertently destroy many of Australia’s native frogs. Some of which are endangered. It’s not always easy to tell the cane toad apart from native frogs especially when it’s young.Third, using the virus is a bad idea because it could have terrible consequences for cane toads in their original habitat in Central and South America. You might be wondering how can a virus released in Australia cause harm in the America.Well,Australian reptiles and amphibians are often transported to other continents by researchers or pet collectors for eXample.Once the animals infected by the virus reach Central and South America, the virus will attack the native cane toads and devastate their populations. That would be and ecological disaster because in the America cane toads are a native species and a vital part of the ecosystem. So if they are eliminated, the whole ecosystem will suffer. In the reading passage, the author raises that reading less literature has caused unfortunate effects on the reading public, the cultural general and literature the contrary, theprofessor strongly contradicts with it.To begin with, according to the reading passage, the author mainly talks about reading less literature cannot provide readers with intellectual contrast, the lecturer disagrees with it and she reasons that a book doesn’t have to be literature to be intellectually books, history and political analysis aren’t literature but they are often of high quality and some of those books are just as creative and well-written as novels and don’t assume that someone who isn’t reading literature isn’t reading a good book.To be followed, the reading passage indicates that the culture is in speaker holds the opposite opinion and she says that people are not just spending less time in literature and they are spending less time with books in are many culturally valuable material that isn’t written such as a brilliant song and good are not wasting their time when they listen to good songs and watch good non-literal activities will not lower the some of those creative forms can speak more directly to contemporary concerns than literature does.Lastly, the writer in the reading part says that it is the readers’fault to lead to the less support for comparison, the listening material presents a totally different opinionthat it is the authors’fault because today’s literature is intended to be difficult to don’t assume the earlier’s generations of readers would read a lot modern literature today. The lecture and the reading discuss ( ).The lecturer puts forward 3 pioints and effectively contradicts the opinions of the reading.First of all, the reading says that ( ).In contrast, the lecture claims that ( ).By this way, the lecture contradicts the first opinion of the reading.Second, the reading claims that ( ), while according to the lecture, this is not the case. The lecturer says that ( ).By casting doubt on an important peice of evidence of the reading, the lecture contradicts the second claim of the reading. Finally, the reading states that ( ), while the lecture claims that ( ).Thus the lecture refutes the last claim of the reading. The reading passage contends that…(详细的写)The listening material completely refutes the reading passage .It is pointed in the listening that ……(写出main idea 就行) First, the point, stated in the reading passage, isthat … In contrast, the listening passage holds the opposite opinion and believes that ……Second, the reading passage contends that …… But the speaker in the listening says that …Third, the author, in the reading passage, believes that ……However, the lecturer in the listening argues that ……。

Sample 0The lecturer and the author of the article both agree that honesty is a virtue. They differ in opinion when it comes to the importance of that virtue in the grand scheme of things. The article claims that honesty must be maintained in every situation. The lecturer makes the counter argument that there are situations in which secrecy or even dishonesty are necessary for the greater good.First of all, while the article argues that “full disclosure” is the best operating principal, the lecturer gives several examples for why that is not the case. Governments cannot always be honest with their citizen and still protect their safety. Also, sometimes new friends should wait until they get to know each other before discussing their opinions on contentious issues.Secondly, the article’s author also makes the claim that lies are never acceptable, and that they can never be forgiven. The lecturer provides an example of a good time to lie. When a person’s feelings are at stake, as in the case of an insecure girlfriend or boyfriend, lying is often the nicest thing to do. In these cases, the lecturer argues, a lie will be more easily forgiven than cruel honesty. While neither party believes that honesty is unimportant, the lecturer contends that sometimes there are other issues at hand. Sometimes the ends justify the means.Sample 1The lecturer and the writer disagree on the merits of online education. The write believes that online education is detrimental; stating that organizational issues, lack of social interaction and limited oversight will lead to a less robust education. The lecturer feels that online education is a positive revolution which will improve regulation of student progress, enhance online communication skills, and more efficiently monitor cheating. The author believes that online course organization will differ greatly from traditional education. This will lead to problems in evaluation such as efficiently monitoring student progress, graduation rates, and student satisfaction among others. The lecturer counters this idea by claiming online courses actually provide more clear and defined tools to evaluate student progress and class engagement. The lecturer proceeds to attack another of the writer’s claims that online education limits in-person socialinteraction. Instead the lecturer believes online courses enhances the web savvy of students and encourages more modern forms of communication such as email and message boards.Lastly the writer claims that online courses allow for more dishonesty and cheating amongst students due to the inability to oversee homework and test. The lecturer disagrees and states that the internet actually controls cheaters by monitoring work environments more closely and forcing students to be more accountable. Overall the lecturer feels that online education provides many benefits to traditional education.Sample 2The lecturer and author disagree on the credibility of explorer Robert Peary’s expedition to the North Pole in 1909. The author claims that Peary was the first person to reach the North Pole based on verification of historical evidence provided by outside parties. The lecture sets out to discredit these institutions and paint Peary as a fame hungry liar. The author argues that the National Geographic Society checked the evidence of Peary’s journey and concluded that his claims were true. The lecturer attempts to discredit this conclusion by attacking the credibility of the society, claiming that they consisted of Peary’s supporters who had a vested interest in verifying the expedition. Though the author discusses photographic evidence of the expedition, the lecturer goes further in stating that Peary’s original photographs were never released for independent verification. In addition he attacks the low quality of the faded photos and the loss of the original camera in attributing to unverifiable claims. The author cites that in 2005 explorer Tom Avery took the same route as Peary using similar equipment in roughly the same amount of time. The lecturer argues that Avery took a much shorter route than Peary and had more favorable weather conditions. Overall the lecturer attack the credibility of the writer’s sources in order to disprove that Peary was the first man to the North Pole.Sample 3The author and lecturer disagree on the origin of Native American peoples, though both note that Native Americans believe they have always been in the Americas. The author uses archeological evidence in support of a European migration to America. The lecturer attempts to disprove the author by citing various logical fallacies and problems in the author’s arguments. The writer uses archeological evidence to support his claims. For example the author cites that spearheads excavated in the Americas resemble those of ancient European, rather than Asian, civilization. The lecturer attempts to discredit this by arguing that the similarity in appearance is a result of similar sized animals in the Americas and in Europe, rather than a common ancestry. Going further, the lecturer claims that the 13,000 years old skull found near Mexico City, despite its similarities with European skulls, is one small piece of evidence that is insufficient in supporting the author’s larger assumptions.Lastly the lecturer discredits the writer’s theo ry that sea migration occurred during ancient times, when Europe and America were geographically closer. Seafaring during that time had not yet been developed as evidenced by a lack of objects such as fishing nets. Therefore, the lecturer concludes that it would be impossible for Native Americans to have come from Europe. Instead the lecturer believes that a migration from Asia is more likely.Sample 4The author and lecturer agree that animals enjoy playing but disagree on why animals play. The author attempts to reason that animals like playing because it helps release excess energy, improve survival skills, and acts as a form of socialization. The lecturer does not provide his own opinion, but simply seeks to rebuff the author’s conclusions. The author claims that animals play in order to release excess energy and stay healthy. The lecturer states that animals do not play simply to release energy, citing that when animals wait for their mothers to take care of them, they have little energy yet they still play. The lecturer believes that this proves there is no correlation between play and energy level. The author makes another claim that playing helps animals improve survival skills by mimicking activities such as hunting and fighting. The lecturer discredits this by referring to an example in which two groups of cats, one that plays and the other that doesn’t, elicited the same skill level when hunting.Lastly the lecturer attacks the writer’s argument that animals play in order to make friends and socialize. The lecturer states that socializing occurs in animals in many ways, not just through play. Mice for example continue to socialize long after they pass the age of playing. The lecturer discredits the author’s evidence for why animals play.Sample 5The author and lecturer are debating about the privatization of government functions. The writer believes that privatization is beneficial because of increased funds, improved facilities, and new technology. The lecturer disagrees, stating that privatization will actually lead to higher costs, weaker infrastructure, and less investment in technology. The writer claims that the initial public sale and ongoing taxes paid by new private companies will raise money for the government. In addition it will streamline bureaucracy related to government companies and eventually pass these savings down to taxpayers. The lecturer attacks this by claiming that in the long term, profit-driven companies will have little incentive to keep prices low unless the government places limits on them. The lecturer also argues against the writer’s claim that privatization will lead to better facilities because of a desire to maintain reputation and avoid lawsuits. Instead, the lecturer states, because private companies cannot guarantee future contracts, infrastructure will suffer due to a focus on short term profits.Lastly the lecturer rails against privatization by claiming it will give a monopoly to certain companies. Instead of acting in the public’s interest, which is the writer’s claims, the companies will be beholden to the Board of Directors. This will keep them from making investments in technology and new services. Overall the lecturer argues against privatization because of its potential long term problems.Sample 6The author and lecturer argue the credibility of various explanations for the cause of the Little Ice Age starting in 1250 AD. The writer claims that the ice age was caused by melting icecaps, volcanic activity, andrepercussions from the Black Death. The lecturer focuses on the writer’s arguments and attacks their feasibility. The author states that melting glaciers prior to the ice age caused an influx of cold water into the global water circulation system, drastically dropping temperatures. The lecturer counters this argument by stating that the melting only occurred in Europe and North America, but that distant place such as New Zealand also had changes in temperature. The lecturer believes this confirms the melting was a local phenomenon and not a global one. Th e lecturer goes on to attack the writer’s claim that volcanic dust caused from increased activity during that time caused the ice age. The lecturer argues that this kind of temperature fluctuation could only result from worldwide eruptions which would leave significant records, of which there are none.Lastly the author claims that the Black Death killed many farmers, eventually turning farmland into forest, reducing carbon dioxide and reversing global warming. The lecturer believes this argument is impossible since the transfer of farmland to forest happens at a slow pace and could not justify such a marked fluctuation.Sample 7The writer and lecturer disagree on the repercussions of controlled burning in forestry management. The writer believes controlled burning has a negative impact because it harms wildlife, emits excess carbon dioxide, and wastes resources. The lecturer counters these arguments noting that wildlife is not harmed, carbon dioxide emissions are limited, and that controlled burning actually saves resources in the long run.The writer believes that burning kills wildlife, especially babies and weak animals that cannot flee the burn area. The lecturer does not agree, claiming that biologists are consulted beforehand to limit the impact on wildlife and save many animals, such as migrating birds. Secondly the writer argues that fires will increase carbon dioxide which will make it difficult for animals and humans to later return to burned areas. The lecturer argues that this is not true because many animals in the forest help accelerate the removal of carbon dioxide and quickly restore air quality to the region.Lastly the author makes the case that controlled burning wastes economic resources because it requires renting equipment and hiring laborers on a temporary basis. The lecturer makes the case that natural fires cause more damage and wastes more resources because they are unpredictable. As aresult controlled burning actually is a more efficient way to save money and use resources.Sample 8The writer and lecturer disagree on the underlying reasons that caused the demise of the Mayan civilization. The writer believes that a two hundred year drought in the 9th and 10th centuries is the best explanation due to scientific evidence, the coincidental end of the Mayan writing system and related incidents in the Amazon during that time. The lecturer disagrees and argues that drought was a common problem and that a civil war could be a better explanation for the Mayan descent. The writer believes that a drought during that time caused deforestation, soil erosion, and higher temperatures eventually making Mayan life unsustainable. The lecturer attacks this idea by noting that drought often take place throughout Mayan history, occurring approximately every two hundred years. The writer also claims that the demise of the Mayan writing system coincides with the drought and thereby supports the drought theory. The lecturer does not directly address this but instead goes on to consider that a civil war could be a better explanation due to hieroglyphic evidence that was left behind by the losing survivors.Lastly the lecturer argues that it is foolish to find correlation in the demise of the Mayan and Amazon civilization, which the writer attempts to do. The lecturer explains that the Mayans had better water storage system and better preventative measures for drought.Sample 9The lecturer and writer of the article disagree on the importance of sleep. The writer believes sleep serves a critical part in improving memory, renewing energy, and expelling negative substances. The lecturer believes the importance of sleep is exaggerated and uses examples to scrutinize the writer’s arguments. The writer believes sleep is important in helping consolidate memories, stating that a good sleep improves memory and performance the following day. The lecturer counters this argument by claiming that only a base level of sleep is necessary to memorize information, and in fact too much sleep can be detrimental because it causes drowsiness. The writer makes another claim that sleep replenishes energy through reducedsensory inputs and calorie intake. The lecturer disagrees and argues that medicine, caffeine, and energy drinks are more effective and practicalthan sleeping.Lastly the writer states that enzymes use sleeping periods to repair damaged brain cells and expel bad substances which accrue during highmetabolic activity while people are awake. The lecturer rails against this argument because its conclusions are based on studies of those withabnormal sleep deprivation. Therefore there can be no conclusion drawn for healthy normal individuals about the merits of sleep. The lecturerconcludes that though sleep is necessary, its merits are vastly overblown and unfounded.Sample 10The writer and lecturer disagree on the merits of music education inpublic schools. The writer feels that music education should be the parents’ responsibility, claiming it wastes important study time andtaxpayer money. The lecture feels music education is important because it leads to success in other areas, is a worthwhile expense, and encourages lifelong appreciation of music. The writer believes music education is a luxury and should be supportedprivately by parents and families. Time in elementary schools should be dedicated towards the study of more useful subjects such as math and reading. The lecturer disagrees, stating that music education is very beneficial and helps develop a child’s memory and concentration, thereby impacting reading and mathematical skills. The writer also claims that music education is a waste of money because it would better serve schools to spend funds on more critical things, such as building infrastructure and facilities. In addition the writer feels the investment isn’t worthwhile because many students will not become professional musicians. The lecturer disagrees by citing the cost effectiveness of buying instruments which can be used by many students over many years, rather than having one parent buy an instrument for one child. Lastly the lecturer argues that music education has long term benefits of increased creativity, lower drop out rates, and a lifelong interest in learning.。

whole field of Archaeology in that country. The funding from construction companies hasallowed researchers to study a far greater range of archaeological sites than they could in the past.Last, the new guidelines provide a lot of paid work for archaeologists, work that didn’t eXist before.EXpert archaeologists are now hired at all stages of the process to eXamine the site for archaeological value, then to help draw up the preservation plan to do the research in a professional scientific manner and finally to process the date and write reports and articles. The increased job and career doesn’t have to be literature to be intellectually stimulating.Science books, history and political analysisaren’t literature but they are often of high quality and some of those books are just as creative and well-written as novels and poems. So don’t assume that someone who isn’t reading literature isn’t reading a good book.To be followed, the reading passage indicates that the culture is in decline. However, the speaker holds the opposite opinion and she says that people are not just spending less time in literature and they are spending less time with books in general. However, today, there are many culturally valuable material that isn’t written such as a brilliant song and good movie.People are not wasting their time when they listen to good songs and watch good movies. Those non-literal activities will not lower the culture.Even some of those creative forms can speak more directly to contemporary concerns than literature does.Lastly, the writer in the reading part says that it is the readers’ fault to lead to the less support for literature.By comparison, the listening material presents a totally different opinion that it is the authors’ fault because today’s literature is intended to be difficult to understand. So don’t assume the earlier’s generations of readers would read a lot modern literature today. In 1990, new rules and guidelines were What qualities make a good high school teacher? People might go for abilities like helping with future planning or encouraging academic autonomy. I, however, believe that the most important factor is the ability to recognize students in need and the willingness to lend a hand. The first beneficiary is underachievers. More often than not, students who fall behind suffer from a low self-esteem. It is especially true for teenagers who find it a disgrace to lose face in front of their peers. In this case, they would stay under the radar and try to bury their problems in the dark. Nobody would even notice, not to mention offering any help. However, a teacher with a perceptive mind can discover the problem before it gets worse, sothat the troubled kid could get proper help. Let’s say a boy whose parents are going through a nasty divorce may show up late at school or miss the deadline for science projects. If the teacher can spot his recent anomaly and reaches out to him, the boy might open up and confide to the teacher. This is the first step on the road to recovery and an attentive teacher makes all the difference. Moreover, this valuable quality would rub off on students as well. Instead of lecturing them about helping others, teachers set a better example by practicing what they preach. Seeing the teacher shows compassion and kindness to a kid from disadvantaged background, children are more likely to follow suit and learn to empathize. In contrast, if the teacher is always aloof, school bullies will then pick on the troubled kid. It is because when teachers don’t even bother to care, kids would pick up a wrong message that being indifferent is the best policy. What would them turn into when reaching adulthood? Self-centered. Or even worse, mean and bitter. Soit takes a sharp mind to spot trouble and a warm heart to getchildren out of.Sure, it is not to say other qualities are trivial. Future career planning offers students some insight into job prospects and college majors. And students would better adjust to college life if they are trained to learn on their own outside of the classroom. But I wouldn’t say such qualities assume more power th an an empathetic heart. Why? High schoolers aged 15 to 18 have very vague ideas about their interests and aspiration. That’s why people even take a gap year to figure it out. So why bother planning in such early stage of life while so much remains uncovered and unexplored? As for theability to encourage learning autonomy, let’s face it, children have been doing this all the time! Since the advent of Internet, children have been drawn to a variety of search engines and websites, which stimulate self-governed learning in a way no teacher can possibly compare to. But the ability to relate to troubled students and lead them out of the woods is in high demand and cannot be replaced. To sum up, to benefit high school students to a greater extent, the teacher s have to be able to recognize what’s going wrong and what can be done to make it right. Other characters can be good to have, but also fine to live without.托福高分范文大全(篇三)If a large factory is going to be built near your community, isit good or bad? It’s a quite difficult question to answer. Because there are many aspects to take into your consideration, the advantages and the disadvantages. Let’s talk about that.First, a large factory, especially a large chemical factory is quite harmful to our environment when it is built near our community. It will affect our daily life a lot. All the chemical factories will produce a lot of waste and most of the wastes are harmful to the environment, including poisonous gas and liquid. Some of them can not be entirely broken down. If they are released into the air or the river, it will affect our health. And also the factory may produce a lot of noise. The environment we want to live in is a quiet and peaceful one, so the noise will be quite boring. And yes, noise also affects our health.Still one thing, a factory can be very dangerous. Because a fire or a explosion may break out in the factory. If it’s very near our home, it’s quite dangerous. But in other hand , a factory may be a good news to us. It can provide more jobs for us, especially for the young people in our community. Since the factory is near, it’s so convenient to go to work.. and the factory will get more chances to our area. It will help to develop our area. So if the factory can bring us a lot of chances, we will agree to build one. But the most important things are:1. Build the factory in a safe distance from our community, not too near.2. Make sure that the factory can deal with the waste properly. Do not release the poisonous gasinto the air, and not release the waste water into the river nearby.3. Make sure the security guard in the factory works very well. I support the idea that a factory to be built near our community.I list my reasons as follows. Firstly, a new factory near ourcommunity helps to improve living standard of people in our community. The factory will employ a lot of workers. As a consequence, the unemployment rate will drop significantly. Many people in our community will find a job in the factory. As people's income increases, they will be able to spend more money on their food, clothing and leisure time, and the quality of life will be increased.Secondly, a new factory will bring prosperity to our community. The tax collected from a factory is an important source of revenuefor our town. As people have higher income, income tax collected will also be increased. The town will be able to spend more money on infrastructures and other development. Moreover, in order to accommodate more workers, more homes and stores will be needed. This will boost real estate development in our community. Some people say that a factory would bring smog and pollution, and destroy the quality of the air and water in town. This is not the truth. Modern technologies have made today's factories technology intensive and brought pollutions to the minimum. There are also worries that the social structure of this community will be changed and the traditional life will be affected. We should understand that society needs to evolve and we cannot always stay in the old time. Of course, there will be some drawbacks of building a new factory here. But in my opinion, the benefits outweigh the dangers. Istrongly support to build a factory here, and hope that others feel the same way.托福高分范文大全(篇四)It is better for children to grow up in the countryside than in a big city. Do you agree ordisagree? Use specific reasons and examplesto develop your essay. With the development of the transportation system and some residence institution, the world isgetting smaller and smaller, and people are not restricted in only one area. In addition to theconvenient condition, because there are different places with different cultures, living standards, education environment and other disparity, they are inclined to transfer from one place to theother. Is it better to move around than stay in one place? I believe there are no uniform answers, but in my opinion, I do agree with the claim that to move around is better than to stay in oneplace. Most people’s growth comes with the transfers in their life. As for me, when I was young I lived ina small county. Because the school in there was not suitable to me, I transferred from my littlecounty to a city to get a better education. As soon as I got to the city, I was amazed that the worldhere was so different here as myhometown .If I still lived in my hometown, it was impossible forme to make the wildest guess at what the real world looked like. The first transfer has made me toimagine my own life and spur on me to go further. With the confidence, I went into a universitywhich I would never think of it before. The university is located in a different city so that I haveto come into another world. Compared with myliving city, the one is more complicated in whichthere are different people, more convenient transportation, more competitive environment.I loveall of this very much. Communicating with different students and teachers, I have learned muchfrom them which will benefit me throughout my life and my lifestyle. Now I am in a graduateschool also so beautiful that I will never regret my selection of leaving myhometown because thetransfer has given me a splendid life. Also, like we students, there are many adults transferring their work place in order to grasp betteropportunities. No matter in industry, in agriculture or in service, workers have rights to choosetheir work companies which leads them to work from place to place and then they accumulateprecious experience and skills to get priorities to others.People not only transfer in their own country, but also go abroad to get education, work or livethrough the rest of their life in appropriate countries. We can see that many students including mewant to go to the foreign countries to study further and forge ourselves, and that many parentssend their little sons or daughters to foreign countries to study. After all, diverse circumstancesgive persons new experience and broaden their narrow sight, even help them get morecomprehensive understanding of the world, the society and ourlife itself. However, some people may say that if people move around, theywill pay for much such asmoney, time and energy. It is right to say that it takes one person some time to get used to his orher new environment, new personal relationship which indeed influences the growth of children, the efficiency of our work and the stability of our society and family. And I have to admit thatpeople should make considerate plans before changing their places and may not transfer aimlesslyand frequently. But I think sometimes it is just all the friction that has made the world wealthierand more beautiful. Therefore, I still think it is better to travel around than to live in one place.

Is it better to enjoy your money when you earn it or is it better to save your money for some time in the futureUse specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.范文The Advantages of Saving MoneyEveryone must work to live, but many people are fortunate enough to make more money than they immediately need. What should they do with this extra incomeWhile it is tempting for people to spend it all on things they desire,I believe it is better to save at least a portion of the extra income for the future.By saving money, people give themselves more security. They cannot predict the future; perhaps one day they will be jobless. At a time like this their savings can spare them a great deal of suffering and help to see them through the hard time.In addition, saving money allows people to build up a larger sum. They can then buy something more worthwhile than the small things they can but if they spend the money right away. For example, they may be able to buy a house with their savings. Finally, the practice of saving helps people develop the habit of setting goals and planning for their future. In this way they are bound to lead more meaningful and successful lives. Most people would like to enjoy their money immediately.Nobody likes to wait for the things that he wants. However,if we learn to save our money,we can gain more advantages in the future. We will lead more secure and, thus, happier lives. We will also be able to buy the things we truly want but cannot afford right now. In this temple as in people"s heart abraham lincoln who saved the union will be enshined forever这是写林肯纪念堂上的一句话. DISHONESTY KILLS RELIABILITYThere are certain considerations or factors that everyone takes into account in a relationship. People may look for honesty, altruism, understanding, loyalty, being thoughtful etc! Everyonewould more or less wish that the person s/he isdealing with, has some of these virtues above.Putting them in an order according to their importance, however can be very subjective and relative. When someone asks him/herself the question “What do Iconsider to be the most important thing in my relationship”the answerdepends on a lot of factors such as how his/her earlier relationships were. After stating that everyone’s opinioncan be different about this, for me honesty, in other words, always telling thetruth is the most important consideration in a relationship. Opposite of thisis inarguably lying and if someone needs to lie, either s/he is hidingsomething or is afraid of telling me something. In any relationship of mine, I would wish that first of all, the person I’m dealing with is honest. Even though s/he thinks thats/he didsomething wrong that I wouldn’t like, s/he’d better tell me the truth and notlie about it. Later on if I find out about a lie or hear the truth from someoneelse, that’d be much more unpleasant. In that case how can I ever believe ortrust that person again How can I ever believe that this person has enoughconfidence in me to forgive him/her and carry on with the relationship fromthere. So if I cannot trust a person any more, if the person doesn’t think Ican handle the truth, there’s no point to continuing that relationship.Although I would like to see altruistic, understanding, thoughtful and loyal behavior from people, an instance of the opposite of these behaviorswould not upset me as much as dishonesty would. Among all the possiblebehaviors, dishonesty is the only one for me that terminates how I feel about aperson’s reliability. Therefore honesty would be my first concern and themost important consideration in a relationship. The lecture and the listening have different ideOffering employees the option of a four-day workweek won’t affect the company profits, economic conditions or the lives of employees in the ways the reading suggests.First, offering a four-day workweek will probably force companies to spend more, possibly a lot more.Adding new workers means putting much more money into providing training and medical benefits.Remember the costs of things like health benefits can be the same whether an employee works four days or five. And having more employees also requires more office space and more computers. These additional costs would quickly cut into company profits.Second, with respect to overall employment,it doesn’t follow that once some employees choose a four-day workweek, many more jobs will become available.Hiring new workers is costly,as I argued a moment ago.And companies have other options. They might just choose to ask their employees to work overtime to make up thedifference.Worse, companies might raise expectations. They might start to expect that their four-day employees can do the same amount of work they used to do in five days.If this happens, then no additional jobs will be created and current jobs will become more unpleasant. Finally, while a four-day workweek offers employees more free time to invest in their personal lives,it also presents some risks that could end up reducing their quality of life.Working a shorter week can decrease employees’ job stability and harm their chances for advancing their careers.Four-day employees are likely to be the first to lose their jobs during an economic downturn. They may also be passed over for promotions because companies might prefer to havefive-day employees in management positions to ensure continuous coverage and consistent supervision for the entire workweek. Depending on personal experience, personality type and emotional concern, we find that some people hold the idea of A meanwhile othersprefer to B, from my point of view, it is more advisable to chose A rather than B. Admittedly, __________________A也有好的地方______________.By he same token, however, ______________B更好____________.Takingsintosaccount of all these factors, we may reach the conclusion that_____________.一, “点对点”的结构“点对点”的结构指的是把综合写作中的阅读材料和听力材料的每一个对应点都单独提炼出来用一个段落加以阐述.这种结构的优点是可以把阅读文章和听力材料的对应关系更细致地进行说明,使文章层次感强,同时反映出考生提炼信息和对比信息的能力更高.比如下面的一篇范文就是ETS给出的满分作文,是一篇典型的“点对点”型的结构安排方式.Introduction-Relationship between reading and lecture The lecturer talks about research conducted by a firm that used the group to handle their work. He says that the theory stated in the passage was verydifferent and somewhat inaccurate when compared to what happened in reality.First Point of Contrast First, some members got free rides. That is, some didn’t work hard but got recognition for the success nonetheless. This also indicates that people who hard were not given recognition they should have gotten. In other words, weren’t given the opportunity to “shine”. This directly contradicts what th e passage indicates.Second Point of Contrast Second, groups were slow in progress. The passage says that groups are more responsive than individuals because of the number of people involved and aggregated resources. However, the speaker talks about how the firm found that groups were slower than individuals in decision making. Groups needed time for meetings, which are necessary procedures in decision making. This is another place where experience contradicted theory.Third Point of Contrast Third, influential people might emerge and lead the group towards glory If the influent people are going in the right direction there would be no problem. But in cases where they go in the wrong direction, there is nobody that has influence to counter the decision made. In other words, the group might turn dictatorship, with the influential party as the leader, and might become less inits thinking. They might become one-sided, and thus fail to succeed. Introduction-Relationship between reading and lecture The lecturer talks about the natural process of crystallization and how the speed of cooling can influence such process, which is proved by Bowen’scrystallization experiment explained in the reading passage.Points in the lecture Natural crystallization happens when magma, which is extremely hot in its molten form deep in the earth, gradually cools off when it moves towards the surface of the earth. During the cooling process, the energy from heat is lost, and the atoms which compose the magma begin to move more slowly, forming into an orderly pattern, which turns the magma into a solid crystal structure. However, if the cooling process takes place too rapidly, then there is not enough time for the atoms to be arranged into such an orderly pattern. Therefore, crystallization can’t take place. Instead, a brittle, glass-like material will form.Points in the Reading Norman Bowen’s experiment in the 1920sproved this theory. By collecting and melting elements in rocks, Norman created artificial magma in his laboratory. He first cooledthe magma slowly, as in the natural crystallization process, and got mineral crystals. But then he suddenly replaced this normal cooling with rapid freezing, and found frozen glass materials surrounding the solid crystal structure.可以看出,“点对点”和“面对面”的结构有各自的特点,但总得来说“点对点”的结构在“对比型”的新托福综合写作中要更适用一些,因为它能把矛盾点逐一呈现,更细致地体现了听力和阅读材料之间的关系.但掌握“面对面”的结构也很有必要,因为它可以适用一些听力和阅读材料之间的关系是一致、延伸或解释型的考题.此外,在考生无法寻找到所有的对应点时,用“面对面”的结构也算是一种补救措施.附:新托福综合写作sample answer 两篇,针对的是同一个考题,第一篇用的是“点对点”结构,第二篇用的是“面对面”的结构._______________________________________________________祝你成功啦!小站托福范文侃哥托福范文。

It is true that living with family for a longer time has its own merits. It means that one could keepliving a comfortable life, a life supported by parents and lasting almost twenty years since born, which do attract some young adults, for a longer time than expected. At the mean time, youngadults could save a lot of money for living in their parents' house and enjoying the food supportfrom the family. What an appealing life, isn't it? But is it a wise one? When taking more factorsinto consideration, as far as I am concerned, living independently overweighs this kind of life.Recently the ability of young people to live independently from their parents has caused publicconcern. Unfortunately people find that hardly can the new generation live a well life alone. It isyoung people’s depending on their families too much that leads to this situation. Therefore weare tempted to ask ourselves: Isn't it necessary for young adults to live their own lives all bythemselves? Isn't it important for young adults to realize the necessity of independence? Isn't itcompulsory for young adults to have an independent life away from their families? Obviously onecannot live with family for life long. Consequently, one needs to learn independence once grownup. The importance of primacy comes next only to the importance of independence. That is, onecannot keep a total private life living with family. Although one may assume that the family members would respect others' privacy, the fragile privacy can be hurt and infringed onwithoutpurpose nevertheless. We may easily quote a single example to illustrate this. Just imagine youare having a phone call with your best friend and you two are talking about something secret andonly shared with friends. At that time your mother passes through your room and occasionallyshe gets informed of the certain thing. Examples like this happen everywhere. A survey conducted by a large company in 10 major cities in China shows that over eighty three percentage of young adults feels that their privacy get violated by their families. So it is high timethat we seriously take the privacy of our life into account the next time we evaluate the life together with family. Moreover, as the proverb says," The apple doesn't fall away from the tree." I get the sense ofindependence from my father, who lived alone and earned his own life since he was eighteen. Asa matter of fact, it is an old tradition of my family and I am really glad to keep this tradition. In short, from what has been discussed above, we may safely draw the conclusion that it is betterfor young adults to get independence as soon as possible. Only in this way can we obtain theability to live alone and the precious privacy of our lives. 1、In response to the problem, some people may argue that___ But is it?
