Unit 1 Friendship***阅读理解Pollution's serious effects on the environment have become more obvious in recent years. Most scientists agree that efforts are necessary to protect our environment from further harm.As we know, the construction industry consumes a large quantity of energy and resources and creates a huge amount of pollution. So green buildings are in great need. The environmental benefits of green buildings include the protection of ecosystems and biodiversity(生物多样性),improved air and water quality, less waste flowing into streams and the protection of natural resources.Green buildings can also result in lower operating costs because they typically use less energy and fewer materials and improve indoor air quality, improving the health of people who live there. The process of building green houses includes technical and artistic planning with nature protection in mind.Building designs often reflect the surrounding environment and natural resources and use renewable building materials such as bamboo and straw. In addition, recycled resources found locally are used for green buildings, reducing the cost and air pollution associated with transporting materials long distances.Careful site selection is important to minimize(使减少到最低限度)human effects on the surrounding environment. For example, placing a structure in an area that allows it to take advantage of cool breezes(微风)and sunlight can reduce energy use and expenses.More energy and expenses are needed for larger buildings as well,so it is important to build the small ones.Green roofs are another feature of green houses that reduce energy use and costs. These roofs are partially or completely covered with plants, which helps to keep heating and cooling costs low, prevent water running off and deal with pollutants.Other features of green buildings often include energy and water protection, recycling and waste reduction. In addition, renewable energy sources such as solar power, waterpower and wind power are used for heat and electricity, which greatly reduces costs and decreases the influence on the environment.1.What can we know about green buildings?A.Producing no waste.B.Only using clean energy.C.Being made of new materials.D.Being environmentfriendly.2.What is a green building probably like according to the fifth paragraph?A.Large. B.Small.C.Green. D.Low.3.What is the purpose of using green roofs?A.To fit the environment.B.To keep warm.C.To collect nature water.D.To reduce costs.4.What is the text mainly about?A.Promoting energy efficiency.B.Environmental benefits.C.Green buildings.D.Ecosystems and biodiversity.【解题导语】本文主要介绍了绿色建筑的优势和特色。

Unit 1 Friendship***阅读理解He was there every morning, sitting motionless on the front steps of his house. In the morning light, I could see the shadows that were etched(蚀刻)deep within the lines surrounding his eyes. Each morning I walked this route with my daughter to her kindergarten class. We were new to the neighborhood so that I didn’t know many of my neighbors. On one beautiful autumn morning, as we passed his house, my daughter called out to him, “Hi, Mr. Man!” Always the outgoing child, I wasn’t sur prised at her enthusiasm. But her cheerfulness soon faded when the man didn’t look at her and say “Hi” back.As we continued on our walk to school, my daughter asked why the man didn’t want to say hi to her. Because I didn’t have an answer, I said simply, “Maybe he is having a bad day.” later I knew that Bob lost his wife in a car accident.A few days later, as we approached Bob’s house on our way to school, my daughter called out “Hi Mr. Man!” and as usual, he didn’t respond. But then she ran onto his front lawn and picked up a beautiful red autumn leaf. She continued up one step and handed it to him. I held my breath. As she skipped back to me, she said, “See you tomorrow, Mr. Man!” This time, he acknowledged her. Speaking to the Manchester E v ening Ne w s,she said,“My childhood was so unstable, so I always wanted and needed to be independent. I didn't believe working for someone else would give me that and that my future would still rely on someone else.”At 24, Sam started her first business from a desk in her sister's art school but she was struggling with a panic disorder at the time and would find comfort in junk food, which led her to follow an unhealthy lifestyle. After the company reached a steady point a few years later, she decided to go travelling and in the process, completely changed her outlook on life. The woman said the “dramatic change”of scenery helped her mental health significantly, and she was even able to cut junk food out of her diet—dropping her from a size 24 to a size 12 by the time she returned to the UK. And the business mogul (大亨) believes changing her lifestyle also helps her succeed in her career as she is no longer scared of making decisions or speaking in public. This year, Sam aims to grow one of the companies under her Freedom Services Group umbrella, Stella Insurance. She set it up in Australia for women. Only 10% said they would rather watch a movie or TV show at home. That compares to millennials (born 1984 to 1995), 18% of whom chose to watch movies and TV shows as their preferred mode of entertainment. Video games were the entertainment option of choice for 16% of millennials.“Gen Zers would much rather spend time playing games, listening to music or using social media,”Jana Arbanas, entertainment leader at Deloitte, said. “That was a really alarming contrast that we saw relative to the shift that's happening and it's clear that Gen Zers will impact this industry.”“Millennials took the behavior they developed as teenagers, and they've taken them forward into their early 30s, and so if Gen Zers are anything like that, their behavior may change slightly, but I don't see a complete change out of their behavior,”said Kevin Westcott, a technology, media and telecom leader.5.What does paragraph 1 tell us about teenagers today?A.They are addicted to Fortnite.B.They prefer games to movies.C.They don't like being told what to do.D.They tend to spend leisure time alone.6.How will the entertainment industry develop according to Jana Arbanas?A.It will offer fewer games and more music.B.It will see a decline in the use of social media.C.It will be impacted by the need of millennials.D.It will be influenced by the preference of Gen Zers.7.What can we infer about Gen Zers from Kevin Westcott's words?A.They may outgrow their behavior over time.B.They'll stop watching movies and TV shows.C.They may not change much in their behavior.D.They'll develop the same behavior as millennials.8.Where is the passage mostly taken from?A.A medical report.B.A shopping website.C.A popular newspaper.D.An entertainment fiction.Ⅱ.七选五(2023·驻马店高中毕业班质检)We all have things that we want to achieve in our lives—getting into the better shape, building a successful business, raising a wonderful family, and so on.1. At least, this is how I approached my life goals until recently. What I'm starting to realize, however, is that when it comes to actually getting things done and making progress in the areas that are important to you, there is a much better way to do things. It all comes down to the difference between goals and systems.2. Your system is the writing schedule that you follow each week. Now for the really interesting question:If you completely ignored your goals and focused only on your system, would you still get results?I think you would.3.In the last 12 months, I've written over 115,000 words. The typical book is about 50,000 to 60,000 words, so I have written enough to fill two books this year. All of this is such a surprise because I never set a goal for my writing. I didn't measure my progress in relation to some benchmark.4. I never said,“I want to write two books this year.”What I did focus on was writing one article every Monday and Thursday. I focused on my system and the process of doing the work. And after sticking to that schedule for 11 months, the result was 115,000 words. In the end, I enjoyed the same (or perhaps better) results.Goals are good for planning your progress and systems are good for actually making progress. Goals can provide direction and even push you forward in the short term, but eventually a well-designed system will always win. Having a system is what matters.5.A.None of this is to say that goals are useless.B.If you're a writer, your goal is to write a book.C.Forget about predicting the future and build a system.D.I never set a word count goal for any particular article.E. Committing to the process is what makes the difference.F.And for most of us, the path to those things starts by setting a specific goal.G.As an example, I just added up the total word count for the articles I've written thisyear.Ⅲ.语法填空(2023·三门峡质检)Our ancestors did it out of necessity, but we are returning to their ways out of a desire to preserve the planet 1. future generations. Everyone knows that death is natural, but do you have any idea of the process of dying? Modern scientists divide the process of dying into two stages — clinical or temporary death and biological death. Clinical death occurs when the vital organs, such as the heart or lungs, have stopped functioning, but have not suffered permanent damage. The organism can still be saved. Biological death occurs when changes in the organism lead to the “breaking up” of vital ce lls and tissues. Death is then unchangeable and final.Scientists have been seeking a way to prolong the period of clinical death so that the organism can remain alive before biological death occurs. The best method developed so far involves cooling the organism, combined with narcotic (麻醉) sleep. By slowing down the body’s metabolism (新陈代谢), cooling delays the processes leading to biological death. To show how this works, scientists performed an experiment on a six-year-old female monkey called Keta. The scientist put Keta to sleep with a narcotic. Then they surrounded her body with ice-bags and began checking her body temperature. When it had dropped to 28 degrees the scientists began taking blood out from an artery (动脉). The monkey’s blood pressure decrea sed and an hour later both the heart and breathing stopped: clinical death set in. For twenty minutes Keta remained in this state. Her temperature dropped to 22 degrees. At this point the scientists pumped blood into an artery in the direction of the heart and started artificial breathing. 2019版高考英语一轮巩固达标练Unit1Culturalrelics含解析新人教版必修2
Cultural relics***阅读理解We had a TV series in London. One of our fellow TV presenters seriously upset the camera crew when they arrived at his house. He was rude and unconcerned, treating them like lowly workers. Minutes later, when the camera was turned on, he became the perfectly smiling spiritual figure he was publicly known to be. But, as the crew told us later, he had already shown them that he didn't walk his talk.In contrast, Ed was meeting with Jo, our TV producer, in a small London cafe. If you have ever been to London you'll know that in such cafe the tables are very close. Two well dressed African men sat down next to them, which effectively meant they were sharing the same table. Ed asked the two strangers where they were from and one said, "South Africa. " The man pulled out his business card—his name was Jacob Zuma who, at that time, was the President of the ANC but is now the President of South Africa.Usually, if you sit next to someone in a big city cafe, you don't even make eye contact, let alone conversation. Jacob had never met Ed before so he could have been distant and polite, he certainly didn't have to talk, let alone maintain communication, which he did over the following few years. He even hugged him!How we walk our talk shows far more than just our public behavior. Rather, it highlights how we view the world and our place in it. Jacob Zuma showed us how he treats others—with the fairness, consideration and respect that he treats all beings. No matter who we are, whether a street cleaner or a president, we are all equal, here together as one human family.1.What can we learn about the TV presenter?A. He felt upset before the camera.B. He was known for his being impolite.C. His deeds didn't agree with his words.D. He pretended to be polite to the camera crew.2.Which word can best describe Jacob Zuma according to the text?A. Friendly.B. Humorous.C. Generous.D. Serious.3.Why did Ed go to the small London cafe?A. To film a TV series.B. To interview Jacob Zuma.C. To meet with a TV producer.D. To observe people's public behavior.4.What is the text mainly about? presenters are often too proud.B. There still exists inequality in society.C.I. earned people are more likely to be polite.D. People should treat others with equal respect.【文章大意】本文是一篇说明文。

It is certainly newsworthy that Julia is the first new Muppet (提线木偶)in a decade in Sesame Street, a TV program for children, but that is not the only thing that makes her special. The cheery , greeneyed 4yearold, who has autism(自闭症),is also here to expose young kids to those with autism and teach them about acceptance. The creators decided to bring the Muppet on air so that she would be able to reach millions more kids and families. However,as autism looks different in everyone,it can be hard to introduce such a character properly.Sesame Workshop consulted over 250 educators, psychologists, and autism organizations. In Julia's first episode, viewers observe common problems with kids who suffer autism and similar disorders. For example, when the other Muppets want to play hideandseek,Julia starts jumping up and down with excitement.Instead of laughing at her or correcting her,the group of Muppets start jumping with her and it becomes a new game. And when Julia first meets Big Bird, another Muppet, she ignores him.At first,Big Bird is hurt, but he learns that it doesn't mean she dislikes him—she just communicates with strangers in a different way.Julia was an instant hit.Families quickly connect with the little redhaired girl.Sherrie Westin,an executive vice president at Sesame Workshop, says her favorite feedback came from a mother, who used Julia to explain to her autistic daughter what the condition meant, inspiring the daughter to say,“So I'm amazing too, right?”Autism affects 1 in 68 children in the United States and scores more worldwide.Hopefully,by watching Julia, kids will see that everyone should be treated equally and appreciated.1.What does the underlined word “them” in Paragraph 1 refer to?A.Sesame Street's Muppets.B.Young kids.C.Children with autism.D.The creators of Julia.2.Why did Sesame Workshop consult many experts?A.To make the new Muppet entertaining.B.To get their advice on the cure for autism.C.To make autism better known through Julia.D.To make more money through the TV program.3.How do the other Muppets react to Julia's behavior in the game?A.They follow her. Women of achievement李仕才***阅读理解。
Winston Churchill is probably the most popular British prime minister ever. Having served as a soldier and politician, he is often considered among the greatest of Britons. While his heroic stand against the Nazis is well know, there are still a few facts about the popular politician that might surprise you.His CigarsThe classic image of Winston Churchill includes a giant cigar stuck between his lips. Churchill developed his love of cigars as a young man, when he traveled to Cuba. For the rest of his life, he smoked eight or nine cigars every day. However, he almost never took a puff(吸,抽), preferring to chew on the end until it went out, then relight it and start again. To prevent the cigar becoming soggy (湿软的), Churchill invented the "bellybando", a strip of brown paper which could be glued around the end.At any given time, Churchill had 3,000 to 4,000 cigars in his house, mostly his favorite Romeo & Juliet brand. On one occasion, the president of Cuba presented Churchill with 2,400 top-quality cigars, although his security team insisted one cigar from each box be sent off and tested for poison. Perhaps the story that best shows his love of cigars occurred during World War II, when he had a special oxygen mask designed so that he could still smoke his cigar on a high-altitude flight. His Black DogThroughout his life, Churchill probably suffered from depression, which he called his "black dog". At times, his depression was so severe that he didn’t like standing close to a passing train or looking at the ocean from a ship because he feared that he would commit suicide. When he was depressed, Churchill would almost spend a great deal of time in bed and lose his ability to concentrate. However, when not depressed, Churchill was full of energy, usually working and talking until the early hours of the morning. He often described how "all the colors come back into the picture".1. Why did Churchill’s security team insist on checking the cigars?A. To test if they were safe for Churchill.B. To see if they were of the best quality.C. To make sure they were Churchill’s favorite.D. To guarantee they were not out of date.2. Which of the following best shows Churchill’s love of cigars?A. He fell in love with cigars at a young age.B. He smoked many cigars every day.C. He invented the "bellybando".D. He had an oxygen mask specially designed for smoking.3. What does the underlined sentence in the last paragraph mean?A. Churchill became energetic again.B. Churchill remained depressed.C. Churchill drew colorful pictures.D. Churchill liked to talk about colors.4. What is probably the best title of the passage?A. Achievements of ChurchillB. Anecdotes about ChurchillC. Personalities of ChurchillD. Hobbies of Churchill【文章大意】丘吉尔是英国最受欢迎的首相,文章介绍丘吉尔的一些奇闻轶事。
