影视欣赏Film Review on Christmas CarolOnce I seldom watched cartoons, and I had no interest in it. I think that cartoons are always for children. However, the cartoons I have watched in this year totally change my mind. When I watched the film called A Christmas Carol, I first thought it was a bright film about Christmas Wizards talked about carols. But, the beginning of the film changed my thought. The main character is a man of rather forbidding countenance. The gloomy scene makes me felt uneasy.“ an old solitary miser has to face his past, present, futhre with the ghost on Christmas eve, which arose his conscience from his deep cold heart……” the whole film is the last judgment for the old man trembling with fear, which tortures him to almost death. Watching this scene, I feel pity for the old man--- he is so miserable that make people think less of the changes he needs. As an adult student, who has already experienced something, I find something in the film have reflections on myself, as if I were also a part of the soul who strongly made a self-reflection in the film. What the movie tried to express and deliver is what we will face and be through in our life and our attitude towards life as well. From the objective angle, we are the mean Scrooge. We protected something stubbornly, maybe wealth, power, status, or reputation. To watch those that do not represent ourselves, we became indifferent, self-closed, cunning, hatred. I, myself is this kind of person. As we growing up, we suffer pressure from work, study and life. We lost our innocent, care-free and regardless life.I think, children with few experiences definitely can’t understand the film. He who shared no common experience will not has resonance and sees the true meaning behind it.I remember when we watched the film called《Mary and Max》in the English class, our teacher said that it was not a cartoon for children as children couldn’t understand it. It is a psychological fairy for adults, which results in a long lingering finish. In my opinion, children who watch this kind of film won’t have many feelings, on the contrary, it will arise reflections on adult. Such kind of loneliness, a person who never experienced cannon understands. Thinkingback to my childhood, even I played alone, the sense of loneness never occurred to me. Therefore, this is not a cartoon for children. The film called Wall.E, a film describes about the earth in the future, I felt mixed. It is difficult for us to imagine the world in the future. Several years later, will our descendents facing a world full of rubbish? Do they need to stay at space and never came back? An adult who has the awareness of unexpected development is sure to have many mixed feelings after watching the film. Meanwhile, a child who only has beautiful things in the eyes, how could he think of the impressive meaning of the film? How could the educational and ironical meaning of the film express to children? In conclusion, indeed, some of the cartoons aim for our adult instead of children. Only these adults could appreciate the deep meaning of the films, which also answer the purpose of directors. At the same time, I also realize that films are not only just for entertainment, but also for education and mediation.。

影视鉴赏英文作文英文:As a film and television enthusiast, I have always been fascinated by the art of storytelling and the power of visual media. Watching movies and TV shows is not just a form of entertainment for me, but also a way to appreciate the creativity and talent of filmmakers and actors. One of my all-time favorite films is "The Shawshank Redemption." This movie, directed by Frank Darabont, tells the story of Andy Dufresne, a banker who is sentenced to life in Shawshank State Penitentiary for the murder of his wife and her lover, even though he claims to be innocent. The film is a powerful portrayal of hope, friendship, and the human spirit. The performances of Tim Robbins as Andy and Morgan Freeman as Red are simply outstanding, and the storytelling is gripping from start to finish.Another film that has left a lasting impression on meis "Inception," directed by Christopher Nolan. This mind-bending thriller explores the concept of dreams and reality, and the visual effects are truly mind-blowing. The ensemble cast, led by Leonardo DiCaprio, delivers a stellar performance, and the film's intricate plot keeps the audience on the edge of their seats. In addition to movies, I also enjoy watching TV shows, and one of my recent favorites is "Stranger Things." Thissci-fi series, created by the Duffer Brothers, is set inthe 1980s and follows a group of kids who encounter supernatural forces in their small town. The show is a nostalgic homage to 80s pop culture, and the young actors give remarkable performances that make the characters relatable and endearing. For me, the appeal of film and television lies in their ability to transport viewers to different worlds, evoke a range of emotions, and provoke thought and discussion. Whether it's a heartwarming drama, an action-packedthriller, or a thought-provoking documentary, there is something for everyone in the world of visual storytelling.中文:作为一名影视爱好者,我一直被故事讲述的艺术和视觉媒体的力量所吸引。

影视赏析的英文作文

影视赏析的英文作文

影视赏析的英文作文英文:As a lover of film and television, I find great pleasure in analyzing and appreciating the artistry behind the screen. There are a multitude of elements that go into creating a successful film or TV show, from the writing to the cinematography to the acting. Each aspect contributes to the overall experience of the viewer, and it's fascinating to dissect how they all come together. One of the most important elements, in my opinion, is the writing. A well-written script can make or break a film or TV show. It's the foundation upon which everything else is built. The dialogue, character development, and plot all stem from the script, and a weak script can result in a lackluster final product. On the other hand, a strongscript can elevate even mediocre performances and cinematography.Another crucial aspect is the acting. A talented actor can bring a character to life and make the audience care about their journey. It's not just about delivering lines convincingly, but also about embodying the character and bringing their emotions and motivations to the forefront. A great example of this is Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker in The Dark Knight. His portrayal was so haunting and captivating that it's hard to imagine anyone else in the role.Cinematography is also a key component in creating a memorable film or TV show. The way a scene is shot can convey a certain mood or emotion, and can even becomeiconic in its own right. Think of the opening shot of The Godfather, with the cat sitting in Marlon Brando's lap. It immediately sets the tone for the rest of the film and is instantly recognizable. Finally, music and sound design can greatly enhance the viewing experience. A well-crafted score can heighten the emotional impact of a scene, while sound effects can add to the realism and immersion of the world being portrayed. Theuse of music in the final scene of The Shawshank Redemption is a perfect example of this. The swelling score perfectly captures the sense of hope and liberation that the characters are feeling.Overall, analyzing and appreciating film and television is a deeply rewarding experience. It allows us to delveinto the artistry behind the screen and gain a greater understanding and appreciation for the medium.中文:作为一名影视爱好者,我非常喜欢分析和欣赏屏幕背后的艺术。

英文影视欣赏Fight Club

英文影视欣赏Fight Club

Fight ClubBasic Information:Fight Club is a screen adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk’s novel of the same name. The movie was directed by David Fincher and stars Edward Norton, Brad Pitt, and Helena Bonham Carter. The director David Fincher was born on August 28, 1962 in Denver, Colorado. He is an American film and music video director who is known for his dark and stylish thrillers. At first, Fight Club was an early disappointment at the box-office and received mixed reviews. It was panned by several critics and alienated audiences leading to its box-office failure in the United States. However, many critics and audiences later changed their opinions and the movie appeared on many 'best of the year' lists and soon developed a cult following. In 2008, Fight Club was named the 10th greatest movie of all time by Empire Magazine in its issue of The 500 Greatest Movies Of All Time.Synopsis:The main character was an ordinary urban white-collar worker and he worked hard, did with human relations carefully and did the things that he thought was meaningful day by day. He liked the pursuit of materialism and enjoyed the spirit of vanity. He lived in a dull life but had no surprise no insurance. Because of this situation, he suffered from insomnia. He went to see the doctor, but the doctor suggested him to visit a support group to witness more severe suffering. But unfortunately, Marla broke up his original quiet life and The only thing he can do is to make a protocol with her. A flight home from a business trip, his apartment was destroyed by an explosion. Then he moved into Tyler’s ruined house and created Fight Club. Everything seemed peaceful, but actually it was just a beginning. With the development of the plot, he realized that in fact he was Tyler. He caught the schizophrenia and just stayed in his own fantasy. At the end of the film, he defeated Tyler and the schizophrenia was cured.Genre:The genre of this movie is film noir. There are chiaroscuro lighting and dark scene in this kind of movie. Film Noir is defined by the subtle qualities of style, mood and tone and it is most easily recognizable on account of its distinctive visual style. In this movie, there are two main visual styles: majority of scenes are lit for night and strong attachment to water. In the movie Fight Club, we can see that the most of the scenes are set in the night. In order to present the atmosphere of Fight club, they chose a basement of the bar as the place for the people to join it. Because of the night, they should not pay attention to the outside world and just enjoyed themselves. On the other hand, they started the destruction action in the night. Apart from the dark scene, the water also played an important role in the movie. When Tyler drove the car and wanted to experience the death, it was raining heavily outside. In addition to atmosphere, the characters was also an important part. In thismovie, the main character was morally ambivalent, it was hard to define him to be good or bad. At first, he was just a white-collar worker and worked hard. When he met Tyler and everything was changed. They created Fight club and did something wrong. In the end we know that actually he was Tyler. He was a person who had double character and was afraid of the future.Characters:The protagonist is the narrator and the antagonist is the society. The hero narrator was an ordinary urban white-collar worker and he worked hard. He did with human relations carefully and did the things that he thought was meaningful day by day. Because of this, he was tired and wanted to break this peace. He enjoyed the spirit of vanity and created Fight club. The opposite society was cruel and it made him insomnia. The narrator wanted to live in a happy life and then he just worked hard without any complaint. Under the pressure of the work and society, he chose to give up and just released himself. The society was the main reason that led him to give up and indulge himself. The mirror Tyler was a person that narrator met in the airplane and lived with him after his apartment was destroyed by an explosion. Tyler taught him to indulge himself and they created Fight club. In the night, they went to stole the fatty oil and stayed in the basement to make soap. Tyler put hydrochloric acid powder into narrator’s hand and told him to be give up all. There is no doubt that Marla who he met in the support group was romance. Marla was a woman who lost confidence of life. Her life was full of erosion and she smoked everywhere. From this we can see that, she lost the hope and just drifted with the current. Because of the her presence, narrator could not sleep again and then these two people closed together. Maybe actually Marla was not the love of narrator, she just liked a dispensing to narrator.Narrative:The hook of the movie was the blood vessels in the body. Along with the visual constantly switching, we just found that the gun was pointing at the mouth of the narrator. Then the story began and we got to know the plot of the story gradually. The key line was that the narrator suffered from insomnia and the doctor suggested him to visit a support group. He slowly got confront from there and no longer suffered from insomnia. But unfortunately, the inciting incident turned up. Marla appeared and broke his peaceful life. He made an agreement with her, but after his apartment’s explosion, he met Tyler and moved to his ruined house. The turning point I was that in order to seek stimulation, the Fight Club was established. The most important rule of Fight Club was that you do not talk about Fight Club. The members of the club just took part in this activity in the night. But it didn’t last long. The point of no return was that Marla appeared again and l ived in his house. The narrator was very distressed and regretful that he had not heard of her complaint. The turning point II was that Tyler assigned a task that all the members in this club must enrage a stranger to fight with them. After that, Tyler had a new idea and began to build up an army troop, tried to do damage to the city buildings. At a sabotage, Bob was shot and soon died. The climax was coming. The narrator couldn’t find Tyler and then he finally realized that in fact he was Tyler. All the things were done by him when in the night. The resolution was that the narrator tried every means to forbid the things happening again. In the end, he overcame himself and the schizophrenia was cured.Of course, it did follow the classical three-act linear model. Faust, The Wandering Jews and Circe are the basic stories shown in this movie.Style:In this movie, Which impresses me most in this film is the raw instinct VS death instinct. When the narrator was on the plan, there was a plot. He said that if the plane was shaking badly, he prayed to crash, explosion or anything else. In most cases, we always try our best to avoid his body hurt, but his behavior went against common sense and he was desire to die. When he chose the way to use the violence to seek his salvation and at the same time he also stepped onto a suicidal road.About the style: The majority of scenes are lit for night. When the main character met Tyler for the first time, they went to a bar. When they went out and the night was coming. Then they began to fight against with each other. Passing people saw it and then joined them. Fight club was built and it was always held in the basement of a bar in the night. When in the daytime, the members of Fight club just worked as common. But in the night, they vented themselves and fought against with others. Even they began to destroy the Buildings and facilities, they also chose the night. Because of this, they could do the things better. On the other hand, in the nigh they often went to stole the fatty oil and then stayed in the basement to make soap. Everything was happened in the night.Strong attachment to water. When he moved into Tyler’s ruined house, the house was broken badly. When in a rainy day, the house was in leak and had no electricity. From this, we can find that the main character lived in a hard life and he just did his own things. Also when they first fought outside the bar, the ground was full of water. Another scene is that when Tyler drove the car and wanted to experience the death, it was raining heavily outside.Critical perspective:The theme of this movie is the human heart. It is a mysterious feeling of psychological research, perception, attention, memory, thinking, imagination and verbal psychological process, it reflects the humanity under the guise of instinct, desire, even morbid facts existence. The narrator caught the schizophrenia and just stayed in his own fantasy. The simplest and most direct solution to know himself is to abandon everything, to be free, and then understand the reality.Auteur theory: His movie is filled with dark, gloom and sad tone. He usually creates this kind of low atmosphere through the lamplight decorate and photography technique. In his movie he rarely uses the natural light, on the contrary he will use a large number of the artificial light to make the movie with the lighting effects. At the end of the movie, the main character will experience some psychological trauma because of the changes in his life.Psychoanalysis: The narrator and Bob embraced each other to cry and then the narrator miraculously healed insomnia, also found out his dependence. The narrator hated the women and he didn't like to admit this woman with his contact, so he took it all back to the a man Taylor who just appeared out.Feminism: The film reflected male kingships and was filled with the anger to father and women from the "middle-aged boy". In the movie men did endless beat with each other and enjoyed the stimulation process of the beating.Structuralism: According to the personality structure theory, Tyler represented the pleasure principle to follow himself. The narrator just did what he thought was right and never repressed himself. When the id and the ego conflicted seriously, the personality was split.。

Comparison between early cinema and modern movies

From an aesthetic point of view, early cinema bears little in common with the cinema of today. They commonly sought to record and represent aspects of “real life”. Early cinema relied primarily on spectacle rather than narrative.

第2讲第二章家庭教育与爱情题材The Sound Of Music音乐之声通过歌词学英语The Sound of music OSTThe hills are alive with the sound of music With songs they have sung for a thousand years The hills fill my heart with the sound of music My heart wants to sing every song it hears My heart wants to beat like the wings of the birds that rise from the lake to the trees My heart wants to sigh like a chime that flies from a church on a breeze To laugh like a brook when it trips and falls over stones on its way To sing through the night like a lark who is learning to pray I go to the hills when my heart is lonely I know I will hear what I\'ve heard before My heart will be blessed with the sound of music And I'll sing once more1 In the Aabbey 在修道院[中文](The story starts in an abbey of Salzburg, Austria, in the last Golden Days of the Thirties. Halleluyah!Bernice: Reverend Mother...Reverend Mother: Sister Bernice.Bernice: I simply cannot find her.Reverend Mother: Marisa?Bernice: She's missing from the abbey again.Sister A: Perhaps we should have put a cowbell around her neck.Sister B: Have you tried the barn? You know how much she adores the animals.Bernice: I have looked everywhere, in all of the usual places.Revernd Mother: Sister Bernice, considering that is Maria, I suggest you look in some place unusual.(Later, Maria gets back and comes to see Reverend Mother.)Reverend Mother: I'm here, my child. Now sit down.Maria (short for M): Oh, Reverend Mother, I'm so sorry. I just couldn't help myself. The gates were open and the hills were beckoning and before...Reverend Mother: I know! I have not summoned you here for apologies.M: Oh, please Mother, do let me ask for forgiveness.Reverend Mother: If it will make you feel better.M: Yes. Well you see, the sky was so blue today and everything was so green and fragrant. I just had to be a part of it! And you know those birds kept meeting me higher and higher as though it wanted me to go right through the clouds with it.Reverend Mother: Child, suppose darkness had come and you were lost?M: Oh, Mother, I could never be lost up there. That's my mountain, I was brought up on it. It was the mountain that led me to you.Reverend Mother: Oh?M: When I was a child, I would come down the mountain and climb a tree and look over into your garden. I'd see the sisters at work and I would hear them sing on their way to Vespers, which brings me to another transgression, Reverend Mother. I was singing out there today without permission.Reverend other: Maria, it is only here in the abbey that we have rules about postulant singing.M: I can't seem to stop singing wherever I am. And what's worse, I can't seem to stop saying things. Everything and anything I think and feel.Reverend Mother: Some people would call that honesty.M: No, but it's terrible, Reverend Mother. You know how Sister Beth always makes me kiss the floor after we had a disagreement? Well lately I've taken to kissing the floor when I see her coming just to save time.Reverend Mother: Maria, when you saw us over the abbey wall and longed to be one of us, that didn't necessarily mean that you were prepared for the way we live here, did it?M: No, Mother. But I pray and I try and I am learning. I really am.Reverend Mother: What is the most important lesson you have learned here, my child?M: To find out what is the will of God and to do it whole-heartedly.Reverend Mother: Maria, it seems to be the will of God that you leave us.M: Leave you?Reverend Mother: Only for a while, Maria.M: Oh, please, Mother, don't do that. Please don't send me away! This is where I belong. It's my home. My family. It's my life.Reverend Mother: Are you truly ready for it?M: Yes, I am.Reverend Mother: Perhaps if you go out into the world for a time, knowing what we expect of you. You will have a chance to find out that you could expect it from yourself.M: I know what you expect, Mother, and I can do it. I promise I can!Reverend Mother: Maria...M: Yes, mother. It is God's will.Reverend Mother: There is a family near Salzburg that needs a governess until needs a governess until September.M: September?!Reverend Mother: To take care of seven children.M: Seven children?!Reverend Mother: Do you like children Maria?M: Oh yes, but seven....Reverend Mother: I will tell Captain V on Trapp to expect you tomorrow.M: A captain?Reverend Mother: A retired officer of the imperial Navy. A fine man and a brave one. His wife died several years ago. Living in the dorm with the children, and I understand he has had a most difficult time managing to keep a governess there.M: Er.. Why difficult, Reverend Mother?Reverend Mother: The Lord will show you in His own good time.(Maria, with her bag and guitar in hands, walks sullenly out of the abbey.)M (singing): What will this day be like, I wonder. What will my future be, I wonder. It could be so exciting to be out in the world, to be free.My heart should be wildly rejoicing,Oh, what's the matter with me? I've always longed for adventure, to do the things I've never did. Now here I'm pacing adventure, then why am I so scared?(Oh, help.)I have confidence in confidence alone,Besides which you see, I have confidence in me.(故事开始于奥地利萨尔斯堡的一家修道院,时间是本世纪三十年代最后的黄金岁月,奥地利萨尔斯堡一家女修道院。

高一英语作文影评结构英文回答:I recently watched a movie called "The Shawshank Redemption" and I must say it was absolutely brilliant. The film is about a man who is wrongfully convicted of a crime and sent to prison, where he forms a deep friendship with a fellow inmate and ultimately plans a daring escape. The storytelling is incredibly powerful and the characters are so well-developed that you really feel for them. The acting is top-notch, especially by the lead actors, and the cinematography is stunning. One of my favorite scenes is when the main character finally breaks free and stands in the pouring rain, symbolizing his newfound freedom. Overall, I was deeply moved by this film and would highly recommendit to anyone.

The Day after Tomorrow1. IntroductionThe Day After Tomorrow is a 2004 American science-fiction disaster film that depicts the catastrophic effects of global warming in a series of extreme weather events that usher in a new ice age. It did well at the box office, grossing $542,771,772 internationally. Domestically, it is the sixth highest grossing movie not to be number 1 in the US box office (behind My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Alvin and the Chipmunks and its sequel, Sherlock Holmes, and Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs), but worldwide, it is third behind only Ice Age 3and Casino Royale. The movie was filmed in Montreal, and is the highest grossing Hollywood film in history to be filmed in Canada (if adjusted for inflation).2. PlotJack Hall is a paleoclimatologist who is on an expedition in Antarctica with two colleagues, Frank and Jason , drilling for ice core samples on the Larsen Ice Shelf for the NOAA when the ice shelf breaks off from the rest of the continent, and Jack almost falls to his death. Jack presents his findings on global warming at a United Nations conference in New Delhi where diplomats, including the Vice President of the United States are unconvinced by Jack's theory. However, Jack's concerns resonate with Professor Terry Rawson of the Hedland Climate Research Centre in Scotland. Two buoys in the North Atlantic simultaneously show a massive drop in the ocean temperature, and Rawson concludes that melting of the polar ice has begun disrupting the North Atlantic current. He contacts Jack, whose paleoclimatological weather model holds reconstruction data of the climate change that caused the first Ice Age, to predict what will happen. Jack believed that the events would not happen for a hundred or a thousand years, but he, Frank, Jason, and NASA's meteorologist Janet Tonkawa (Tamlyn Tomita) build a forecast model with his, Rawson's, and Tonkawa's data.Across the world, violent weather causes mass destruction, including a snowstorm greatly impacting New Delhi, a hailstorm ultimately destroying Tokyo, Japan, and a large outbreak of tornadoes wrecking Los Angeles. The U.S. President authorizes the FAA to suspend air traffic over the United States due to severe turbulence. The situation worsens when three massive hurricane-like blizzard superstorms begin to form over the northern hemisphere, with their eyes pulling down super-cooled air that causes anything in contact with it to instantly freeze, thus heralding the predicted ice age in seven to ten days.Meanwhile, Jack's son, Sam, (Jake Gyllenhaal) is in New York City for an academic competition with his friends Brian and Laura (Arjay Smith and Emmy Rossum), where they also befriend a student named J.D. On the flight over, there is severe turbulence, and Sam grabs Laura's hand in fright. During the competition, the weather becomes massively violent with intense winds and flooding rains. Sam calls his father, making a promise to be on the next train home. Unfortunately, the storm worsens, forcing subways and Grand Central Terminal to close. As the storm worsens in Manhattan, Sam and his friends seek refuge in the New York Public Library, burning books to stay alive. While the survivors in the northern United States are forced to stay inside due to the storm, the President orders to evacuate the southern half of the country. Jack sets off for Manhattan to find his son, accompanied by Frank and Jason. Their truck crashes into a snow-covered tractor-trailer just past Philadelphia, so the group continues on snowshoes. During the journey, Frank falls through the glass roof of a snowbound shopping mall. As Jason and Jack try to pull Frank up, the glass under them continues to crack; Frank sacrifices himself by cutting the rope. In another incident, the U.S. President's motorcade is fatally caught in the superstorm, leaving the U.S. Vice President in charge. In the library, Sam warns everyone to stay indoors, but few listen. The small group that remains breaks the vending machine for food. Laura is afflicted with blood poisoning, so Sam, Brian, and J.D. must search for penicillin in a Russian cargo ship that drifted inland, and are attacked by escaped wolves from the New York Zoo. The eye of the super storm begins to pass over the city with its −150°F (−101 °C) temperatures, and the entire New York City skyline begins to freeze. The three return to the library with medicine, food, and supplies, making it to safety.During the deep freeze, Jack and Jason take shelter in an abandoned Wendy's restaurant, then resume their journey after the storm dissipates, finally arriving in New York City. They find the library buried in snow, but find Sam's group alive and are rescued by Chinook helicopters. The new President orders search and rescue teams to look for other survivors, having been given hope by the survival of Sam's group. The movie concludes with two astronauts looking down at Earth from the InternationalSpace Station, showing most of the northern hemisphere covered in ice, and a major reduction in pollution.3. Opinions3.1ReceptionThe movie generated mixed reviews from both the science and entertainment communities. The online entertainment guide, Rotten Tomatoes, rated the movie at 45%, with an average rating of 5.3/10. Roger Ebert, of the Chicago Sun-Times, praised the film's special effects, giving the film three stars out of four. Environmental activist and Guardian columnist George Monbiot called The Day After Tomorrow a great movie and lousy science."In a USA Today editorial by Patrick J. Michaels, a Research Professor of Environmental Sciences at the University of Virginia and global warming skeptic, Michaels called the movie "propaganda," noting, "As a scientist, I bristle when lies dressed up as 'science' are used to influence political discourse." In a Space Daily editorial by Joseph Gutheinz, a college instructor and retired NASA Office of Inspector General, Senior Special Agent, Gutheinz called the movie "a cheap thrill ride, which many weak-minded people will jump on and stay on for the rest of their lives." Pale climatologist William Hyde of Duke University was asked, on rec.arts.sf.written, whether he would be seeing the film; he responded that he would not unless someone was to offer him $100. Other readers of the newsgroup took this as a challenge, and (despite Hyde's protests) raised the necessary funds. Hyde's review, which criticized the film's portrayal of weather phenomena that stopped at national borders, and finished by saying that it was "to climate science as Frankenstein is to heart transplant surgery", was quoted in New Scientist. In 2008, Yahoo! Movies listed The Day After Tomorrow as one of Top 10 Scientifically Inaccurate Movies. The film was criticized for depicting several different meteorological phenomena occurring over the course of hours, instead of the possible time frame of several decades or centuries.Over its four-day Memorial Day opening, the film grossed $85,807,341; however, it still ranked #2 for the weekend, behind Shrek 2's $95,578,365 4-day tally, however The Day After Tomorrow led the per-theater average chart with a 4-day average of $25,053, compared to Shrek 2's 4-day average of $22,633. At the end of itsbox office run, it grossed $186,740,799. Its worldwide gross was $542,771,772.3.2CriticismThere was some controversy regarding the casting of Kenneth Welsh as the Vice-President of the United States due to his striking physical resemblance to then Vice-President Dick Cheney. Roland Emmerich later confirmed that he deliberately chose Welsh for that very reason. Emmerich stated that the characters of the President and Vice-President in the film were intended to be a not-so-subtle criticism of the environmental policies of the Presidency of George W. Bush. The White House did not respond to requests for comment on the film.In response to accusations of insensitivity by including scenes of New York City being destroyed less than three years after the September 11th attacks, Emmerich claims that it was necessary to depict the event as a means to showcase the increased unity people now have when facing a disaster, because of 9/11.A number of scientists were critical of the scientific aspects of the film:Daniel P. Schrag, a paleoclimatologist and professor of Earth and planetary sciences at Harvard University, expressed both support and concern about the film, stating that "On the one hand, I'm glad that there's a big-budget movie about something as critical as climate change. On the other, I'm concerned that people will see these over-the-top effects and think the whole thing is a joke. . . We are indeed experimenting with the Earth in a way that hasn't been done for millions of years. But you're not going to see another ice age – at least not like that."Marshall Shepherd, a research meteorologist at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center expressed similar sentiments, stating that "I'm heartened that there's a movie addressing real climate issues. But as for the science of the movie, I'd give it a D minus or an F. And I'd be concerned if the movie was made to advance a political agenda."4. ConclusionIn my opinion, this film is very excellent. It presents the disaster maybe happen in the future. It is not just a film to frighten people, but a film to remind us of the importance of the environment. We are very small when we face the force of the nature. So we should be friendly with the nature. Then we can live a better life.。

The Philosophy of DeathAbstract: In the international screenland during 2004-2005, the Caenozoic director, Alejandro Amenbar’s film, the Sea Inside, became the most successful one, which gained more than twenty awards. The whole story is about a man fighting for euthanasia all his life. Though it seems negative, it magically makes viewers conceive the willingness to live freely and brightly. What’s more, the leading character’s experience and wisdom also lead us to a journey to seek for the death philosophy of freedom and dignity, and comprehend our life in a new way.Key words: the philosophy of death, euthanasia, freedom, dignityDirected by Alejandro Amenbar, The Sea Inside is one of the remarkable works all around the world, not only in the choice of the theme but also in the characterization of figures. We must admit that Amenbar’s choosing euthanasia as the theme of a film is challenging, because this topic has caused a worldwide discussion about the philosophy of death, i.e. how to get the real freedom and to die with dignity. The Sea Inside is a film about euthanasia. The film tells the story of a Spaniard named Ramon Sampedro, who struggles for euthanasia through all his life. Ramon is a mechanical engineer on an ocean vessel. When he was 26, he had an accident while doing sea diving and it led to his paraplegia. Meanwhile, what else have been disabled are his colorful life and the interest in life. From that moment, Remon’s life becomes a sorrow. Luckily, two totally different women offer help to Ramon when he is confined to bed. One is Huliya, a lawyer who suffers from genetic disease as well as dementia. Resonating with Remon’s encounter, she litigates to Spanish government and applies the government to approve assisted suicide, but finally ends up with failure. Another is a mother named Rochas, she is deeply attracted by Ramon’s personality charm and falls in love with him. Believing that “To love him is to help him”, she assists Ramon in realizing his desire to euthanasia. In the film, there is a dialogue between Ramon and Huliya,”--Ramon, what’s your future? --Die, the same to you.”i Though Ramon’s response is simple, we still can find something deep in his heart. The contradiction of Ramon’s life focuses on whether he has the rights and the freedom to die. During his disabled years, he never stops fighting for his rights and freedom. And what makes him hold on to it is his philosophy of death, die with dignity and freedom.Though Ramon frees himself from suffering with the help of Rochas, the process is rather long and difficult. It reflects the public’s negative attitude towards euthanasia in a way. There are some reasons to explain why assisted suicide is hard to carry out:⑴E uthanasia is one of the most controversial issues in society, It is hard to weigh if euthanasia is the respect for life or on the contrary, blasphemy.⑵Euthanasia is illegal in most countries. A dying man doesn’t have a lawful avenue to apply to assisted suicide.⑶Sufferers’ supporters can not represent their views to the full. They will never totally know how terrible they feel.⑷For Christianity, euthanasia is an immoral act that is against religious doctrine.Nowadays with the progress of the times and the development of culture and rationalism, the vast majority of the population is in favor of euthanasia. They agree that, to a certain degree, when a person loses the basic value of life, his choosing to die by means of euthanasia is not only serene but dignified.Actually, Ramon’s philosophy is not alone. We can find that there are many similar opinions in China and Western cultures through the time river. Shitiesheng, a disabled Chinese writer, shares that Death is something that is no hurry, and death is a festival that is sure to come.(Shitiesheng 2005:185) And he also thinks that when a man do not know the meaning of life, he is not clear about the meaning of life. An old saying says if you don’t know what life is, you don’t know what death is. What’s more, there is another opinion:If you don’t know what death is, you don’t know what life is. Engels also expresses that Living means Dying.ii(Engels 1972:570) In brief, death is a positive force that drives people to seek freedom and dignity. In the film, at the end of the dialogue between the minister and Ramon, the director has shown the philosophy of death to us:--Minister, “A freedom that eliminates life is not freedom.”--Ramon. “And a life that eliminates freedom is not life, either.”iiiCompared with Ramon, we are all really lucky enough, but through his fightfor euthanasia, we should ask ourselves: how to get true freedom, how to promote personal worth, and how to accept death with a peaceful mind. And that is the main idea the film conveys to us. Finally, I hope that, everyone can seek out his death philosophy, and then all of us could sing this poem with Tagore like a free bird: “I have suffered and despaired and known death and I am glad that I am in this great world.”(Tagore 2008:172)Notesi It is a dialogue in the Spanish film The Sea Inside; the author of this dissertation translated it into English according to Chinese subtitles.ii Shitiesheng and Engels’s words share the same opinion with Remon in a way, that is living and dying have a close connection, we can never separate them subjectively. Everyone alive is sure to die, we should accept this fact.iii It is a dialogue in the Spanish film The Sea Inside; the author of this dissertation translated it into English according to Chinese subtitles.ReferencesEngels, Friedrich. Film Review of Shawshank RedemptionName:Major:No.:Class:Date:Film Review of Shawshank Redemption The Shawshank Redemption,a famous American movie direct by Frank Darabont, although did not get an Oscar, although there is no action, no special effects, and even no beautiful girls , still be able to deeply impress the audience, and never in the past two decades, have the charm of the film been abated. The movie tells a story of Andy,a young banker with full of talent, who was sentenced to life imprisonment because of murdering his wife and her lover , completed the self-redemption and save others in the dark Shawshank prison. Like the classic lines in the movie said:” It takes a strong man to save himself,a great man to save others.” With the question what impress you most in the film, different person will gives different answers. Below let me introduce this movie and some of my own thoughts.Everyone in the Shawshank not just their roles, they represent a certain type of people in society, and the Shawshank also reflected the real society in America.Warden Norton, the superior of the Shawshank, usually very pious on the surface, can recite every word of the Bible. But in fact,he is unscrupulous, cruel, sinister and greedy for his own benefit.Haley, the prison guards, and other police officer, are savage and help Norton to enslave the prisoner.Their are the rulers of the “small society”.Prisoner in shawshank can be divided into several categories. In addition to the hero Andy, Red (Morgan ·Freeman) is a key figure, of course, I think he is the whole movie clue: Actually, there is not much dialogue in the whole movie.A lot of things are showed by Red monologue and most of the monologue are in order to summarize the life in shawshank and reflect his reading of Andy.Red is a wise man who can committed people’s any needs. He fared very well in Fort shark. His has insight into the nature of life in Fort shark with his wisdom. He said to Andy: " Hope is a dangerous thing."However, like the so-called "wise men" in the real life, although Red insight into the essence of the shark fort, he is only conform to the rules in order to protect themselves in the shawshank rather than to fight for free and hope, not to mention influence and change others. Until Andy appear, changed his, and eventually lead him to the freedom of the other shore.”There's not a day goes by I don't feel regret. Not because I'm in here, or because you think I should. I look back on the way I was then. Then a young, stupid kidwho committed that terrible crime. I want to talk to him. I want to try and talk some sense to him, tell him the way things are. But I can't. That kid's long gone and this old man is all that's left. I got to live with that. Rehabilitated? It's just a bull**** word. So you go on and stamp your form, sonny, and stop wasting my time. Because to tell you the truth, I don't give a shit.”These sentence are said by Red when he applied for parole. He get a approved because of these thoughtful sentence.Tommy, one of the main characters in the film who come to shawshank lately, is as hopeful to his future as Andy. He is effort to improve his Knowledge with the hope of Andy so that he could have a bright future. But he is young and naive to protect himself. He was murdered by Norton and Haley because he know the truth of Andy’s case before he’s success.Without hope, they can feel at ease in this live, until to die,so as the most shocked and thought-provoking role in the film,I think, Brooks.Leaving prison after his first parole,in which he has lived for 50 years,he gets some freedom but feels nervous and afraid instead ofhappy.Brooks’ life was finished by the way of suicide because he could not fit into the life outside. From his suicide note,he said that he had no idea to adapt to the society. When he was young,he only saw one car,but now is full of cars in the street.Every middle night, waking up from the nightmare,he must take a while to remember where he was, without doubt that freedom gives him hope, but this hope brings to him only worry and fear to life.Such a life may not as free and peace in as in prison. If there was no Andy,Brooks’ ending is red and other most of the prisoners’future. And will it be a lot of people’s final in our real life ? Some bird aren’t meant to be caged, Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up. dose rejoice. Still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they’re gone. I guess I just miss my friend.if red was called a “strong man”,Andy should be called as a “great man”.Not only does he save himself, he does everything he can to save the soul of the prisoners. Few details was mentioned about Andy’s escape in front of film, which let me felt a little awkward when I see the scene when he escapes. But recall the plot of the film about Andy’s asking for hammer and beauty posters and so on, we can see that he is already prepared to escape. But Andy did not immediately escape from the tunnel he has already dragged.Tommy's death made him aware of Norton's ruthless. he knows that he doesn’t have the ability to save other prisoners. In other words, although Andy has done the preparation for escaping, he did notflee immediately, although he had the desire to embrace liberty, but he remained in Fort shark to help those "no hope of man."Andy use his strength to help Norton for their money laundering in order to struggle for the rights of small and spiritual space for prisoners. such as Andy first time use of financial expertise to work for Haley just required for some drink for his mates. He smile and watch they drinking. No one other than Red understand the reason why he do that is that he just want himself and everyone else to enjoy the feeling of freedom.Another example is the construction of the prison library, teaching Tommy for exams and so on. And what impressed me most is the scene his use radio play "The Marriage of Figaro" for all prisoners. The plot reflects that Andy’s salvation for all prisoners is quiet significant. In particular, when Norton and Haley were standing outside the door to warn Andy, Andy was smiling and turn up the volume to the highest - a terrible punishment waiting for him, but Andy did not shrink back. This is the real brave! A great man! I have this feeling that Andy came to Fort sharks not as prisoners, but as a Redeemer. These walls are kind of funny like that. First you hate them, then you get used to them. Enough time passed, get so you depend on them. That's institutionalized. "Institutionalizing" is a destruction to human nature. The The symbolic meaning of the movie,I think,is to tell you what we should do when we face the “institutionalized”.We can get the answer from Andy.Firstly, you should retain hope for life and never give up. As mentioned earlier, Andy write a letter to Red after the escape, said: "Remember, Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things and no good thing ever dies!" Secondly, you must be enough courage. When Andy first time face Haley, face Morges, especially play opera for all prisoner, everything he does may get him dead. but he was never afraid. How can the courage to do it! A Review of The Pursuit of Happiness
What is happiness? Money? Fame? Authority? Maybe many people think if they own these things, they will be happy, but I don’t think so. I think it’s hard to make a definition of happiness. Happiness consists in our daily life, sometimes only a smile. One of my favourite movie is The Pursuit of Happiness, it is a inspirational film, it’s really a big shock to me, and the strong power in Chris influencing me all the time, especially in this time that I will enter the society and start to work.
This movie is based on a true story of the famous of self-made millionaires Chris Gardner. He is a clever salesman, his wife, Linda, because can not endure the pressure of breadwinners and left him, leaving only him and 5-year-old son. His bank account with only 21 dollars, because no money to pay the rent, he and his son had been thrust out of the apartment. They are homeless at night, sleep in shelters, subway stations, public bathrooms, and all you can for time being housed in open spaces. Then he got the stock at a prominent investment company the chance to practice, however, there is no salary during the intership,90% of the people have no ultimate success. But he understands that it’s his last chance, so to his son’s future, in order to their own beliefs, he insists on! Finally, Chris eventually become a successful investment professional.
The Pursuit of Happiness is really an excellent movie, after watching it, I can’t calm my heart down for a long time, there are tears on my face, but smile in my heart, I think Chris is a good example for all of us, just be optimistic and go to realize your dream.Through this film, I learned a lot.
(1)Responsibility
In this film, firstly, in order to support his family, Chris works every day for make more money. A plot of this film moved me a lot. In order to catch up with the lost scanners, Chris was knocked down by a car.He looked for his shoe groveling on the road without checking himself being hurt or not.Is shoe so important for him?Sure,
as for a man whose account was only 21 dollars, it can be easily understood such crazy behavior made by him. He do everything just for his family, however, his wife, because of the life pressure, left him, leaving only him and 5-year-old son. For his son,he bears the responsibility, he find a job and never give up of the troubles. When we come into the society,we shuold bear many responsibilities. At that time, we are not a child, Everything must be done in a new way.
(2)Do not give up
Chris failed his business, his wife abandoned him, he and his son are homeless, but he is not give up.On the contrary, suffering let him become more self-confident, self-improvement, when happiness comes, he seizes that belongs to own happiness. In the world, everyone will be in trouble, but the attitude is different. Maybe somebody will give up, others will insist on. But In my view, we should insist on and have a positive attitude to do everything. For me, two years of study life is coming to an end, I will start to work next month. Chris will be my role model, his spirit will encourage me forever.
(3)Achieve our dreams
Chris is a man with purpose. He said that got a dream, you gotta protect it.He encouraged his son “don’t let somebody tell you, you can’t do something.”I think this sentence was said to himself too. Everyone has a dream, but only a tiny percentage of individuals will allow their dreams to fruition. Life is fair to everyone, no pains no gains, if you have a dream, you should create a plan to achieve it. If you do, you will not regret it.
When you are in distress, please do not give up. You must believe that as long as you don’t give up, the door of happiness will open to you. Next month, I will enter into the society and start to work, Chris will be my role model, his spirit will encourage me forever. I believe one day I will become a successful person like Chris.。
