From the earliest silent films to the modern blockbusters, movies have captured the imagination of audiences worldwide. Movie appreciation, or film criticism, involves analyzing and evaluating these films based ontheir content, technique, and impact. In this article, we delve into the world of movie appreciation, exploring the elements that make a film memorable and discussing how to write an effective movie review in English. The foundation of any movie review is a thorough understanding of the film's content. This involves paying attention to the plot, characters, themes, and symbolism. The plot is the sequence of events that form the storyline, and it should be analyzed for its originality, pacing, and coherence. Characters, on the other hand, are the heart of any story, and it's important to consider how they are developed, their arcs, and their relationships with other characters. Themes are the underlying ideas or messagesthat a film tries to convey, and they often deal withuniversal topics like love, death, freedom, or society. Symbolism, meanwhile, refers to objects, actions, or images that represent abstract concepts or ideas. In addition to content, it's also crucial to evaluate a film's technique. This includes cinematography, editing, music, and acting. Cinematography, or the art of capturing images on film, is essential in creating the visual style and mood of a movie. Editing determines how these images are arranged and affects the pacing and flow of the story. Music, whether original score or licensed tracks, can enhance the emotional impact of scenes, while acting brings the characters to life and makes them believable. When writing a movie review in English, it's important to structure your thoughts clearly and use appropriate language. Start by introducing the film and providing a brief overview of its plot and main characters. Then, delve into your analysis, discussing the themes, symbolism, and technique used by the director. Use examples and quotes from the film to support your arguments and make your review more engaging. Finally, wrap up by summarizing your thoughts and providing a rating or recommendation. Here's an example of a movie review in English, analyzing the film "The Shawshank Redemption":"The Shawshank Redemption" is a timeless tale of hope, friendship, and redemption. Andy's refusal to give up despite his circumstances is a powerful reminder of the importance of perseverance and faith. His eventual escape from prison and redemption through hard work and integrity serve as a testament to the transformative power of hope.Darabont's direction is impeccable, with beautiful cinematography that captures the bleakness of prison life and the beauty of freedom. The music, composed by Thomas Newman, complements the emotional arcs of the characters, adding depth and emotional resonance to the story. The acting performances are also outstanding, with Robbins and Freeman delivering powerful and nuanced performances that bring their characters to life. Robbins' portrayal of Andy's resolve and Freeman's portrayal ofRed's wisdom and regret are particularly noteworthy.Overall, "The Shawshank Redemption" is a heartwarming and inspiring film that deserves its status as one of the greatest movies of all time.

The Joy of English Film Appreciation。

The art of film has always been a captivating medium, especially when it comes to English films. The blend of compelling storylines, intricate characters, and the unique nuances of the English language create an immersive experience that transcends cultural barriers. English film appreciation is not just about watching a movie; it's about delving into a world of emotions, ideas, and visual storytelling. One of the first things that strike me about English films is the richness of their dialogue. The language is often used in a way that is both poetic and profound, with every word carrying weight and meaning. Whether it's the heartfelt monologue of a protagonist struggling with inner demons or the sharp wit of a comedic sidekick, the dialogue in English films often serves as a window into the characters' souls. Moreover, the storylines in English films tend to be complex and layered. They often explore themes that are relevant to a global audience, such as love, loss, redemption, and the search for meaning. These themes are presented in a way that is both accessible and thought-provoking, allowing viewers to connect with the characters and their journeys.Another aspect of English film appreciation that I find particularly fascinating is the visual storytelling. Directors often use cinematography, editing, and other visual。

The Comments on The Truman Show----A Brief Comment on The Truman ShowAbstract:The Truman Show is one of the Hollywood’s famous movies which tell us a story of struggle for freedom from an oppressive system. It is full of philosophy of life. After a brief introduction about the background and the main story about this movie, this paper focuses on probing the religious elements and profound philosophy of life hiding in the plot. After a detailed analysis of two important plots, we can draw the conclusion that we should struggle against fate and discover unknown world bravely.Key words: The Truman Show, philosophy, life, fate, braveThe Truman Show is one of the Hollywood’s famous movies, it shows us a story of a person struggle for freedom and to fight against fate bravely. The whole movie is full of philosophy. In order to convey the philosophic main idea, this movie based on a very unique setup. Through a show of a real person—his process of discovery, his attempts to escape his situation to provoke us into think.Truman Burbank (Jim Carrey) is the star of the most popular show in the history of television. For 10,909 days, it has been on the air, using 5000 cameras to show every moment in every day of the life of one man. The public loves it -- there are Truman addicts who go to sleep with the TV on and who have sets installed in the bathroom so they don't miss anything when they're taking a bath. Every individual in "The Truman Show" is an actor with one important exception: the lead character himself. For, while everyone around Truman is playing a part, he is cheerfully ignorant about the truth. He thinks this is all real, and his obliviousness to the situation gives the program its core appeal -- that there's nothing counterfeit about Truman. One day, however, when a former member of the cast sneaks back onto the set with a warning for the star, Truman begins to suspect that appearances can be deceiving. He found all people lie to him, including his father, wife, and friends. After learning from a painful experience, Truman decided to escape from this unreal small town. After several failed escape, he decided to leave the town from the sea. However, he was desperate to find the sea in front of him and the sky turned out to be a part of this huge studio. Christof at a huge control room in the sky talked to Truman about the whole matter and told Truman that he now has been the world's most popular star. What he achieved is ordinary people can not imagine. If he is willing to stay in the sea, he can continue his star life. Truman is unmoved, took the road towards freedom. In this movie, I find an interesting detail in actors’ name. The director whose name is Christof, it is made out of my supposed religious element of the Truman Show. You can see that "Christof--Christ" named parallel. Actually, Christof did play a figure as God in the film. He controlled everything in the show---what should be happen, who should live or die, even the time (day or night) is decided by him. In my opinion, on one hand, this role try to tell us everyone has his or her destiny that was doomed when you are born and controlled by God. On the other hand, this role also laid the groundwork for the following development of plot which shows the main idea of the film. There's a deep philosophical message in the film. Truman lives in a world that's been created for him. I think many people would say that we should accept the world we're given. What we "know to be true" is what we are told is true. My "truth" depends entirely on the culture I live in and the categories of thought I'm provided with. On this basis, Truman should never escape Seahaven. But human intellect and curiosity exist precisely to question and change categories of thought. As much as Christof can try to control Truman, he fails. Truman becomes rebellious, trying desperately to escape his existence. So, Truman's quest for the truth involves observing both anomalies (a falling stage light, odd patches of rain) where there should be consistency, and patterns (bicycle, flowers, Beetle) where there should be randomness. He persists until he finds a way out of the world of image into the real world, out of the fake light, sky and clouds into the black door of whatever is out there. After watching the movie, I had a huge doubt with the way it ended, in which Truman walks through the door and out of the show forever. I had wished they could have shown us what would happen after he left. However, I finally understood why they did not. Truman had been trapped by fear. When Christof talks to Truman, trying to convince him to stay, he tells Truman that the world he is about to enter is different from the world he is leaving: the real world is full of lies, deceit and horrors. Truman's world is a place where none of those fears exist. When Truman steps through the door, going into the real world, you realize that Truman has truly conquered his fears after all. He steps into this brave new world, unafraid of what will happen to him.So, the fake light or the black door, you choose what? To some extent, it is really a difficult choice. Fear of unknown is human nature, but curiosity is God’s gift. For me, I choose the black door. No matter how dangerous it is, it’s a new world which full of hope. We should dare to struggle against fate and discover unknown world and create our own miracles.Bibliography:(1)The Truman Show 英文剧本/view/0ffac981d4d8d15abe234efc.html(2) 杨家友人性启蒙的赞歌——论彼得·威尔的《The Truman Show》[J].

As a lover of film and television, I find great pleasure in analyzing and appreciating the artistry behind the screen. There are a multitude of elements that go into creating a successful film or TV show, from the writing to the cinematography to the acting. Each aspect contributes to the overall experience of the viewer, and it's fascinating to dissect how they all come together. One of the most important elements, in my opinion, is the writing. A well-written script can make or break a film or TV show. It's the foundation upon which everything else is built. The dialogue, character development, and plot all stem from the script, and a weak script can result in a lackluster final product. On the other hand, a strongscript can elevate even mediocre performances and cinematography.Another crucial aspect is the acting. A talented actor can bring a character to life and make the audience care about their journey. It's not just about delivering lines convincingly, but also about embodying the character and bringing their emotions and motivations to the forefront. A great example of this is Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker in The Dark Knight. His portrayal was so haunting and captivating that it's hard to imagine anyone else in the role.Cinematography is also a key component in creating a memorable film or TV show. The way a scene is shot can convey a certain mood or emotion, and can even becomeiconic in its own right. Think of the opening shot of The Godfather, with the cat sitting in Marlon Brando's lap. It immediately sets the tone for the rest of the film and is instantly recognizable. Finally, music and sound design can greatly enhance the viewing experience. A well-crafted score can heighten the emotional impact of a scene, while sound effects can add to the realism and immersion of the world being portrayed. Theuse of music in the final scene of The Shawshank Redemption is a perfect example of this. The swelling score perfectly captures the sense of hope and liberation that the characters are feeling.Overall, analyzing and appreciating film and television is a deeply rewarding experience. It allows us to delveinto the artistry behind the screen and gain a greater understanding and appreciation for the medium.中文:作为一名影视爱好者,我非常喜欢分析和欣赏屏幕背后的艺术。

The Truman Show was such a good movie that I feel truly touched at the end. The perfect performance of King Kerry leads us to a simple life of Truman in fact it doesn’t that normal. As we can see, Truman was an ordinary man, like the most of us. He has many desires and his work, his family, friends and so on. Everything seems normal however with the development of the plot, we know that Truman is an actor, a world-wide star while he himself didn’t know. Besides, everything in his life has been arranged, He lived in a world created by man, by the director. And when he found that something was wrong in his life, he struggled to get out, leaving the world he lived to the unknown outside. Though coming across many troubles in process of finding new place and chasing dreams, he finally got to the edge of his ‘world’, the small world created for him and other actors, he smiled and said, “Good morning, and in case I don’t see you, good afternoon and good night !” The story was over both in the play and out the play.Truman gets true life with struggle, no matter how the world is, the point is that he chooses his own life bravely. The movie director, Peter Weir, gives us a view that everyone should be prepared for new challenges in life and make life by yourself, not by others.Costumes sooner or later faded, scenery sooner or later be removed, just do not forget the theater addiction, feel free to let another "I "-this I walked off the stage, audience, sipping a cup of tea, take a look at the stage of the "I " and "them ", the drum a few palm stream a few drops of tears, to understand it, they close the epiphany. In fact, we cross not taken the door what is the relationship? Because our hearts have been cross-out.2.The Film Review of Forrest Gump次里拉姆2011301040005To Run Like Forrest GumpMar,23th,2013"Run,Forrest!"Jenny said this to Forrest, and for Forrest, running went through his whole life.I'd rather read the film Forrest Gump in another way as followings:the whole movie can be compared to as small as one's mental life or personality, also as big as the mental life of a nation. When it is compared to personality,in other words, the whole movie stands for a man. Then,Forrest Gump is the simpleness and perseverance of person's characteristics while Jenny symbolizes the part of rebellion in one's mind.Besides,Lieutenant Dan represents suspicion and resentment. In addition,Bubba represents sincerity to friends as well as pureness in our body. The last character, also the most important role,is the mother, which means the belief in life and self-confidence.There should be some belief in one's mind so that he can build himself up and face challenges bravely,as the mother said,"life is like a box of chocolate, you'll never know which one you are going to get."Forrest runs almost his life,he runs against pressure. His simpleness runs against violence, suspicion and many other things, and eventually the simpleness beats other things like violence just as light can beat darkness.Jenny gained a simple and normal life after many struggles and then came by Forrest's side. What's more, Lieutenant Dan also was influenced by Forrest and acquired a calm attitude towards life.Forrest run on the way,to beat unpleasant thinking,he won in the end, which told us that one can be kind as long as he want to be.Just let your sincerity runs faster than laziness and suspicion, then you can live a happy life. The meaning of life is something to do,someone to love and something to hope for. While it can also be compared to the mental life of a nation.Though many obstacles forward, just run and keep a calm attitude towards it,peaceful life will come oneday. To run,let sincerity run fast, let belief run fast, just like Forrest,to run for a wonderful future.Strenghen the faith that the morning will come.Forrest run through his life. His running can be viewed as struggles in one's mind through life.Humanbeings have many qualities, such as sincerity, honesty, also suspicion, violence. What we should do is to beat ungodly thoughts when they come out and to be a kind and sincere man.To a nation,it keeps same that people in the nation should always have something to hope for and keep kind and sincere all the time.As a result, the nation will become stronger and stronger.3.Film Review of Dead Poets Society次里拉姆2011301040005An urgent need of educational reformMar.30th, 2013The movie called Dead Poets Society was released in 1989, which tells a story happened in an old church school connected with John Kealting, the teacher who stressed the creativity of students, and a couple of students who struggled for their own dreams . Finally, the students were changed much in guidance of their teacher, though there were miserable endings such as Neil’s case.We can still remember the Captain’s words “Seize the days, make your life extraordinary ”.As we all know, many of us are losing ourselves in the trends of reality, frustration or the authority. The most impressing scene in the movie is that, on the first class, once a teacher came in students wrote down everything teacher talked at once, there were only a pile of heads staring at their books. It reminds me of many scenes in our schools: students learn things rigidly, and teachers transfer knowledge mechanically which seriously damage the creativity of the yongs. I think , education must be flexible, a thing can really be absorbed by learners. However, when their captain has done some things to help students find themselves and achieve their dreams, A sorrow came,Neil, the poor boy, who was on the way to achieve his dream , suicided under the pressure of his father. As a consequence, their captain was also fired by school for his misleading to students. Authority beats non-conformity at that time. In spite of this ,the bud was root in our mind: education needs reform, for a new sight of knowledge. Just as our captain said, ”Education is not filling a pail, but the lighting of the fire.”In addition, the movie also reveals the relationship between father and son, the contradiction between the realism and the idealism, and the attitude towards lifeand so on.Another movie that express similar theme is Mona Lisa Smile, which reveal the women's liberation movement ,the teacher also challenged to the educational system for the liberation of women students. In a word , the movie owns many themes. Wise see wisdom .My opinion is that the movie complain about the education system which has trammeled students.4.Film Review of War Horse次里拉姆2011301040005Friend,WarApril 20th,2013Many people say that they cried after seeing the movie War Horse,so am I.The last scene impressed me much:the golden light, peaceful farm and the reunion of the family, including the horse.Everyone likes a happy ending, which can give people some hope to live through hard time, and it is what films accounts.War Horse,a movie directed by Steven Spielberg, the big director who have made many great movies, and it was released in 2011.The movie mainly tells a story of the friendship of a boy and his horse Joey and it was on the background of the world war I.A horse was dragged to a war, separating from his owner and after a series of difficult experiences, they reunite by chance, accompanying with the war's ending. The first thing we can learn in the movie must be something about how to develop the friendship. When first met,Albert patted Joey on the back and got close to him gently, which told us that we should be respectful when starting a friendship with somebody. Then,Albert trained Joey to plough under the pressure of poverty, they made it at last, which told us that friends need to trust and support each other whenever. In addition, the ability to plough saved his life in the war.Brave maybe sometimes to protect someone you love.Joey came out to pull cannon instead of Micheal, the horse friend of Joey's,the scene moved me much. The movie can be divided into four parts on the basis of friendship. The first is the friendship between Albert and Joey, then is Emily and two horses and the third is relationship between two horses, the last is the reunion of Albert and Joey.It is a songfor humanity during the war time.Besides, there are also some other themes, such as the cruelty of the war, some statements in the film reflected it,for example,"Was does not determine who is right but who is left "and so on.What's more,we can take a notice of the attitude towards horse:they treasure them very much,a German soldier's calling a horse "Prince" and soldiers horse racing delivered a custom in these place at that time. Moreover, there are much to say about the film-making skills:the background lm feast. In a word, the movie deliver a hope for peace and the praise of humanity during hard time, which can inspire people to treasure friendship and be brave as well as trustful. The reunion in the end encourages people to be hopeful to life even though you are suffering a lot.5.Film Review of The Great Debaters次里拉姆2011301040005Great Debaters Are NeededApril 29, 2013The movie Greater Debaters provided us with a feast for debating, as well as many other things at the same time. The sentences applied in the debating related to some famous words such as "Love the sinner and hate the sin "by Gandhi and that "An unjust law is no law at all "by St. Augustine, which of them all proved the power of words and it is the time when the audience stood up over a debating that shows the magic of words. Consequently, debaters are needed in our life for a brightening future.Mr Tolson was a great debater who have debated his students to own their thoughts and speak out. "Education the only way out. " Mr Tolson told it to his students and made it in the end, which reflected in the last scene in the movie where the three debaters won without Mr Tolson. That is to say, Mr Tolson made his students debaters in the end, then the students also went behind him to educate more students, which is education abouts, to teach and influence more and more people to be aware of humanity, to make their voice heard.James was also a great debater who have changed his father's attitude. It is not hard for us to detect the change of his attitude, including his attitude towards his son, Mr Tolson and to the white. At the beginning, the father was a typical citizen and a black who didn't want to involve in many politics, the discrimination steeped in his mind, which made him given in to the white while factually they needn't, and he was also against what Mr Tolson did for fear of catching a fire. What's more, he bonded his son to take part in political events. However, the father changed after a series ofthings, he realized that he was responsible for the pursuit of equality of blacks, and even he talked to the people who caught Mr Tolson, which means that all blacks or generally speaking, all people should take responsibility for their right for equality and justice. In addition, the change of the father will inspire people especially the blacks in the USA to fight for legal rights. Another thing is the relationship between the father and the son, compared with that in the movie Dead Poets Society, Jame's father accepted his child after a bunch of things and stood together with his son in the end. Though there are many great debaters in the movie, humanity is the greatest debater. We witnessed many unjust treatments to blacks, being belittled, lynching, being threatened discrimination and so on. It is time for equality, and "Time for equality is always, is right now "as Booke said.Inspiring as it is, it also reflects many problems, what we can do is to do as much as we can to "debate "for humanity, for justice and so on.Great debaters are needed!6.Film Review of The Hours次里拉姆2011301040005To Love LifeMay 26th, 2013If ever a movie deserved to be a so-called real bummer, it's "The Hours. " As fine a movie as it is, this drama is one of most downbeat, dreary films to come along in quite some time."Always, to look life in the face and to know it for what it is, at last, to know it, to love it for what it is, and then, to put it away. " The women in The Hours said.Different space and time, different women, connected by Mrs Dalloway, the woman in the novel. The women struggled against problems of this kind or that kind: Virginia struggled with her mental health, as well as thought about her novel, and Laura, the housewife, the woman who seemed happy, also had her own problems, her shyness made her self difficult to communicate with others while Clarissa, the positive and independent lady, also suffered a lot in life. All in all, these transfer an idea that no one's life is perfect and we should learn to accept as it is. Besides, with the development of the plot, we can deserve that women's attitude towards life changed much for decades, which conveyed from Clarissa's confidence."Do not dare the scorching sun, and do not fear the ravages of winter. " I understood it as that do not be afraid everything in life, whether good or bad, accept them. Then if we are not afraid of life, we will not be afraid of everything, including death, for death is part of life.Thoreau said: "Life is meaningless unless you choose it and give it a value, there is no happy place, unless you bring happiness yourself. " I used to think the pursuit of happiness is the vital thing of life, and gradually I understand that it is not the most important, while the meaning is. Seek the meaning for life, which can help you go through life, especially in an era full of options and temptations. In addition, Roman Rolland said: "There is only one kind of heroism, that is,still keep the love for life after recognizing the truth of life. " But it is the most difficult thing to "love life ".In a word, the movie delivers that we should accept life as it is, and love it at the same time.7.Film Review of The Graduates次里拉姆2011301040005The Chord in The GraduatesMay, 4th, 2013The Graduates was one of the best movies I've ever seen, Dustin Hoffman, his first major film role, playing Benjamin Braddock: confusion and isolated the epitome of young adult males. He sat in his room, doing nothing. He was lying around for hours on end the swimming pool of his parents. Minutes, just graduated from college, is home to the summer. Then, in an awkward sexual encounter named Mrs. Robinson's friends, his parents, an one-night stand into a summer romance. But betrayal soon as Benjamin fell in love with Mrs. Robinson's daughter, Elaine. If ever a song the film more appropriate, in addition to all the observation tower " Apocalypse Now ", it is the 'silence' prefabricated Simon & Garfunkel Mike Nichol's " The Graduate "sound. Songs, nearly word to describe the character's inner turmoil "graduates " face. They are confused and confusing, the life of the bridge, two crossing into adulthood into old age stuck. And this is just one way to look at it.This is an inner soul of the epic, need a little more meditation. What is only entertainment, if you are in touch with your inner self, and not expect, looking at screen entertainment. Despite the appearance of the comic, I always think it touches a sensitive chord somehow sad. This also explains the end of the film - that is, the last shot. It must be a celebration, this has succeeded in his goal to snatch his beloved away from the altar, and claimed that she eventually for their own (and her go willingly, or dizziness). However, after the initial enthusiasm faded, the two of them smile dissipated, the finalimage is a pure frustration and confusion. The film's tone is a comedy, but the subject is heavy and serious, It is "serious comedy ", the film reflects the sense of a bitter irony, this ironic efforts to increase. On the other hand, as a artists living in the community for social satire is often well-intentioned, also try the extreme extent, and to the general public are able to accept the extent it is this ideal neutralizer and comedy. For the just stepped University Maotouxiaohuo sub, the social order has been early fathers worked out for you good, this layer order is the ideology of the "adult society ", if this ideology is rotten outdated, then certainly gave birth to rise up against one or more individuals to break through all forces. Benjamin is the video of this individual strength.8.Film Review of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest次里拉姆2011301040005Challenge and Go AheadMay,18th,2013Having watched the movie One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, I was shocked greatly, as well as grieved for the McMurphy when he was put on the bed without vitality in the end. Anyone who have seen it would sigh for hero's sacrifice, however his challenges were not in vain, Chief, changed from a non-voicer to a breaker under the influence of McMurphy and achieve the goal to fly over the Cuckoo's nest, which inspires people to fly over the cage of modern life.We can find many things in the movie that reflect the situation of modern life: people suffer a lot both mentally and physically in current society, we shout, but no one heard, as the man in the movie who request for his cigarettes but was ignored by Nurse Mildred Ratched, the woman who stands for the defender of the old rules. Moreover, what McMurphy did encourages people to challenge the decadent situation. One of the sentences in the movie is that, "You complaint about this place but no courage to walk out ", which shows the timidity of people completely, and the words also impressed me much. Another expression is the words that McMurphy said to peers: "I failed but I have tried "when they made a bet. Besides, he challenged the schedule for pursuit his interest though end up with the closed TV set and his own imagination, and he also taught taught Chief, who was seen as deaf and mute, to play basketball and so on. All in all, McMurphy's arriving to the nest brought the place passion and hope. However, he was thought as crazy and dangerous by the people in the nest. They suppressed him for being afraid of his breakout. They carry the name of the guise of the humanitarian while actually they treat patients as patients as the experiment of the medical staff, therefore they has become the victim of the non-human system, this kind of Hospital is the real "hell on earth ", This is not to written and directed fictionally but a true portrayal of capitalist society. In a word, our Chief walked out and there will be more and more people who chased after him and get rid of the suppression of so-called rules.9.Film Review of The Pursuit of Happyness次里拉姆2011301040005Happiness Will Come In the EndApril 22th,2013"Not let anyone say that you can't do something. If you want, go get it! "Chris said to his son. Inspiring as it is, the movie also touch me deeply for the perseverance of the father and his love for his son.Chris said his life consisted of six parts: riding the bus, being stupid, running, internship, paying taxes and at last happiness. We witnessed many embarrassed scenes in his life: divorce, homelessness, taxes, prison and so on. However, he never gave up: he was running to seek for chance, to grasp every opportunity to get to know as many customers as possible during his intension. Eventually he was employed by his company after the hard time.In one hand, the movie is about an inspiring story of a man who work hard to achieve his dream, a man who have tried as much as he can to make it. Besides, his character helped a lot: he was sincere, confident, and calm as well as sociable. In addition, he was running during his hard time: running to the company, to church, to flee from the taxi and eventually running to the happiness. It reminds me of Forrest Gump, the man who have run through his life. Both of them teach us that we should run for our goals, just as Chris said, "you get a dream, you got to protect it ", we should be brave enough to achieve our dreams. In the other hand, the film reflects the kinship between father and son. The father worked very hard but he would never ignore his son, he always encouraged and educated his son whenever. He said to his son that "God helps those who help themselves "and "Don't let somebody tell you that you can't do something "and many other inspiring expressions. They shared happiness and sorrow all the time, it is what kinship abouts. In addition, a scene in the movie that impressed me much was that the poor stoodin line in front of a church for a place to have a rest while the rich were riding their cars on the street to have fun, what the chasm between the rich and the poor in that society is.In a word, Chris succeed when the manager said "tomorrow will be your first day."In the bright sunshine, the father and his son walked on a beautiful beach: the happiness come in the end!10.Reflection Paper次里拉姆20113010400005Reflection PaperJun,3rd,2013Having watched a series of movies that contain many meaningful themes,I feel that I have much to say.At first,I feel that I haven’t thought the theme of a movie over and over until I take this class. That is to say,I saw movie just for entertainment before but I have learned to analysis a movie in a relatively complete way after guiding by the teacher. For example, when I first saw the movie The Hours,I completely didn’t know what was the movie talking about: different time and space as well as different characters confused me much while after teacher’s explanation of the characters and background,I knew a lot about the theme of the movie such as the true meaning of life, the stress on the individual happiness and so on.Next, the development of the movie is of a nation’s spiritual civilization,a period stands for a certain kind of spirit, people make progress after a series of struggles and challenges while movies are those what shows the advancement, just as the term in philosophy:spiraling.Everything develops in a spiraling way.Movies represent the spiritual development of a nation to some extent.. Basically speaking, all of the movies are impressing and educational, which have enlightened us more or less.Take The pursuit of Happyness for example,we feel inspired by the hero. Some famous sayings in it such as “You got a dream, you got to protect it”and “Don’t let somebody tell you that you can’t do something”and many other expressions that impressed me much.Another quotation is what Kealting told his students-“Seize the days, make your life extraordinary”-that touch me much,I thought of my own situation, and feel sorry for myself for I have lost my personality in the trends of current life,I’m not the girl who keenly chase after my own freedom anymore.I know that many of us are the same, once we have been in college,we mayget addicted in many things. However, after watching the movie,I realized the problem and determined to be more free of many things and live an easy life.Likewise, people’s values are updated gradually,to warn people of the problem and encourage people to challenge it are what movies about. In addition we can also catch sight of the different life of people from different social status.Generally speaking, movies are the image of society which have been enlarged to reflect some certain phenomena. Movies show many problems exist in our society, such as discrimination in The Great Debaters, suppression in modern society in the One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest and Dead Poets Society, and people’s pursuit of liberty in The Truman Show and Dead Poets Society, people’s desire for peace in the War Horse and so on.In a word, movies are further more than entertainment, they are about many things: themes,movie-making techniques such as background music and the making of scene and so on.。

As a medium that combines visual storytelling, performance, and technical artistry, film has the power to transport us to new worlds, explore the human experience, and challenge our perspectives. In this essay, we will delve into the art of film analysis, examining the various elements that contribute to the cinematic experience and how they can be interpreted and appreciated. At the heart of any great film lies a compelling narrative. The screenplay, the blueprint that guides the filmmaking process, is responsible for crafting a compelling story that resonates with the audience. Skilled screenwriters meticulously construct plot points, character arcs, and dialogue that draw the viewer into the world of the film. They carefully balance elements such as exposition, conflict, and resolution to create a cohesive and engaging narrative.Beyond the written word, the director's vision is essential in bringing the screenplay to life. The director is the primary creative force behind a film, responsible for guiding the performances of the actors, shaping the visual style, and orchestrating the technical elements to create a unified cinematic experience. Through their creative choices, directors can establish a distinct tone, explore themes, and convey emotions that leave a lasting impression on the audience. One of the most captivating aspects of film is the art of performance. Actors bring the characters on the page to life, infusing them with depth, nuance, and emotional resonance. A skilled actor can convey complex emotions, subtleties of character, and the inner turmoil of a person through their physical movements, facial expressions, and vocal delivery. The interplay between actors and the way they inhabit their roles is a crucial component of the cinematic experience. The visual elements of a film, such as cinematography, production design, and visual effects, play a vital role in creating the overall aesthetic and mood of the story. Production designers, responsible for the sets, costumes, and props, can transport the audience to different time periods, cultures, or imaginary worlds, immersing them in the film's unique visual landscape. The art of editing is another crucial element in the filmmaking process. Editors are responsible for shaping the rhythm and pacingof a film, determining the flow of the narrative and the emotional impact of each scene. Through the strategic selection and arrangement of shots, editors can create tension, build momentum, and emphasize specific moments or themes. The editing choices can significantly influence the overall tone and the audience's engagement with the film.Music and sound design are also integral to the cinematic experience. Sound design, which encompasses the creation and placement of ambient sounds, sound effects, and dialogue, can immerse the audience in the world of the film, making the experience more visceral and immersive. When analyzing a film, it is essential to consider the broader context in which it was created. The historical, cultural, and social factors that influenced the filmmakers can provide valuable insights into the themes, symbolism, and artistic choices present in the work. By understanding the filmmaker's perspective and the societal context, we can gain a deeper appreciation for the film's significance and its impact on the audience.Furthermore, film analysis can involve examining the technical and artistic choices made by the filmmakers and how they contribute tothe overall effectiveness of the work. This can include analyzing the camera work, editing techniques, use of color, and the integration of various cinematic elements to create a cohesive and impactful experience. In conclusion, the art of film analysis is a multifaceted and rewarding endeavor. By delving into the various elements that make up a cinematic work, we can gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for the art of storytelling, the craft of filmmaking, and the ways in which films can captivate, challenge, and transform us as viewers. 英语影视欣赏论文 A Brief Comment on The Da Vinci Code

英语影视欣赏论文 A Brief Comment on The Da Vinci Code

The Charm of Religion-----A Brief Comment on The Da Vinci Code Abstract:The Da Vinci Code is an exciting American movie about religion, adventure and belief. After a brief introduction about the background and the main story about this movie, this paper focuses on probing the major reasons for the popularity of the movie. The main discussion centers on the detailed analysis of the two climaxes in the movie from the angle of religion. And it draws a conclusion that the great attraction of this movie results from the charm of the religion legends.Key words:The Da Vinci Code, religion, legends, climax,The Da Vinci Code is a mystery-detective fiction novel written by American author Dan Brown. Because the novel has provoked a popular interest in speculation concerning the Holy Grail legend and Magdalene’s role in the history of Christianity, before the movie was started filming, it had been extensively denounced by many Christian denominations as a dishonest attach on the Roman Catholic Church. Besides, it had also had been criticized for historical and scientific inaccuracy. But in my opinions, the description of religion legends is the main reason for the world-wide popularity of this movie. The movie is an attractive story about religion. While in Paris on business, Harvard symbolist Robert Langdon receives an urgent late-night phone call: the elderly curator of the Louvre has been murdered inside the museum. Near the body, police have found a baffling cipher. While working to solve the enigmatic riddle, Langdon is stunned to discover it leads to a trail of clues hidden in the works of Da Vinci -- clues visible for all to see -- yet ingeniously disguised by the painter. Langdon joins forces with a gifted French cryptologist, Sophie Neveu, and learns the late curator was involved in the Priory of Sion -- an actual secret society whose members included Sir Isaac Newton, Botticelli, Victor Hugo, and Da Vinci, among others. In a breathless race through Paris, London, and beyond, Langdon and Neveu match wits with afaceless powerbroker that seems to anticipate their every move. Unless Langdon and Neveu can decipher the labyrinthine puzzle in time, the Priory's ancient secret -- and an explosive historical truth -- will be lost forever. The two climaxes of this movie come from the description of religion legends. The first climax comes from Teabing’s explanation about “the Holy Grail” to Sophie Neveu. The movie spent a lot of time in explaining it clearly, even use many new measures. From Tea bing’s words, we know that the true nature of Christianity was preserved within the myth of the Holy Grail (which refers both to Mary Magdalene herself and the bloodline established by her progeny with Jesus). The Priory of Sion, a secret society that originated as part of the Knights Templar, has guarded this secret over the centuries. Leonardo da Vinci, one of its Grand Masters, encoded this secret in many of his works of art, most famously in his mural of the Last Supper (hence the novels title). The Vatican, aware of the existence of documents demonstrating the bloodline of Christ and Mary Magdalene, has exerted great effort over the centuries to repress this knowledge in order to maintain its power, most recently through Opus Dei, a militant Catholic sect. In order to explain the mystery of blood-relationship between Mary Magdalene and Jesus in the famous painting “the Last Supper”, the movie gives Teabing a make-up multimedia-plasma electronic display to show the arcane truth in the painting completely. In this part, it is necessary and successful to restore the visual sense, and it elaborates a more vivid and more accurate advantage, as a result, audiences are deeply attracted by this shocking point of view. The second climax comes from Landon’s awarene ss in the end of this movie. When he suddenly put down the razor, went out of the hotel, ran to the Louvre Museum along the old golden “Rose Line”, the phenomenon raised because of the participation of music. When he stood at the sparkling glass square and looked from the ground, as if he had seen the stone coffin which the Goddess’s corpse slept in. He looked up at the bright starry sky and then he understood the whole thing, But he could not say anything, on the contrast, what he could do was to feel this portion of holy, impression and reverence alone and put the secret deep in heart.Moreove, some of the religion organizations in the movie really exist in the world, but they don’t like what the movie tells us. For example, one of the important elements in this movie--- the Prieuré de Dinothere is a real Priory of Sion in the world. It is an association that was founded in 1956, in the French town of Annemasse, as the beginning of a massive hoax. What’s more, in the movie, it said that Jesus was married and had a family, but “there is no good evidence exists to support this theory”,said Joe Barnhart, professor of philosophy and religion studies at UNT."The real problem with this is that trying to nail down the identity of the historical Jesus is exceedingly difficult. There are about four different views of who Jesus was, but you cannot harmonize these views," he said. "The scholars who have devoted years of their lives to studying the origin and development of Christianity regard this (Brown's) view as mostly fanciful."Apart from the truth of The Da Vinci Code, just regard it as a fabricated story, and see it from the point view of art, it is a succeed film, at least to me. The movie based on the film, despite receiving uniformly negative critical reviews, has had a worldwide gross of nearly $730,000,000.00.From this data, I also can say that this is a successful movie. When I was seeing this movie, I was impressed by the goddess who suffered a tremendous tribulation. And what deeply touched me was the strengthen of the religion belief that she and her pious defenders conveyed to me. I was so attracted by the religion mystery that I cannot help guessing what would happen later. All in all, The Da Vinci Code is a wonderful movie. It is one of my favorite movies. The movie is full of charm, especially the charm of religion. No matter what religion you believe, you can enjoy the movie only if you put down your religion prejudice.Bibliography:(1).Dan Brown, "The Da Vinci Code," Doubleday, (2003).(2).The Da Vinci Code and Organized Religion at: (3). Name: XXXMajor: 电子信息类No.: XXXXXXXXClass:电信158Date: Dec. 14th, 2016Film Review:Captain America Civil WarCaptain America: Civil War is the third part of the series of the Captain . Campared with the previous films, the enermis were not some big bad guys , but the friends of the Captain who fought together . And the different design of the story made the Civil War more attractive . The director of the Civil War are Joe Russo and Anthony Russo . The main actors are Chris Evans , Robert Downey Jr and Scarlett Johansson . The Civil War was made in 2014 and it was shown in 2016 . The film was successful . Its box office had been broken the record of Us $678 million . The film included action , adventure , science fiction , the film began with an accident which happened in a intercept task , a young avenger killed many people by mistake ,and the whole world resisted the behavior of theavengers . With the pressure of the United Nation , the US government issued a statutes in order to limit the freedom of the avengers . They must give clear indication of their identities . But the avengers had disagreement . Captain opposed the statute but the iron man agreed . With the appearance of the Bucky , the contradicon between the Captain and the iron man became more serious . So they fought . At last , the Captain beat the iron man down . And the avengers had been divided in two parts . The team of the Captain fight for freedom , and the team of the iron man fight for tradition .In my opinion , the film is the best of the series of Captain America . Becauce it revealed the true reason of the fight . When the Captain faced to the freedom and the life , he got his choice , freedom . At first ,we should know that the Captain was born in the period of the second World War . And Americans are always fight for freedom . So the appearence of the Captain cheered up the soilders . And also the Captain became the Americans’favorite super hero in 1900s . In the film << Avengers>> , Captain was awoken by Fery ,but his mind and method was still in the second World War , when he found the humanity in the modern society was weak , he felt pain . Maybe the reason of why he fought has changed . The iron man is anspecial role , he was a playboy ,but when he saw the death and the duty , he became more firmly . I can’t envaluate whether the iron man is right or not , neither the Captain . They fought for the faith they believed in . So for the film, we explore its special effects and directors’ skills. When the director dealt with some depressing spot ,they used music , using background music drove the audience viewing the mood . So in the background music, the director was right . It’s different from the Mavel’s comic . Captain survived in this fight and saved his friend Bucky . And this was a big good news to the fans of the Captain . Sometimes the Captain is the symbol of America . So the Captain will continue fighting in Avengers III . Becauce Mavel regard the Captain as the leader of the Avengers .In general , Civil War is a wonderful film . On the characterization of the accused , with captain America and iron man each lead of the two parties , Portraits of people ingeniously conceived , both primary and secondary , must also how each characters appears , compact, interlocking logic architecture . Not only saw a rise of adrenaline fight, also saw the hero behind the internal evolution . Despite the somewhat abrupt Hollywood happy ending, is the masterpiece of flood in the power system , so this is why I appreciate the film . In dramaunder the premise of full advantage, "Captain America 3" to sustain the flood hero movie special effects of high level, from the beginning of the market street, tried their best to the war of the airport, a blow out the look and feel of the experience to sustain in the movie the last frame, and a variety of additional baggage humor, also make the movie has a funny laugh, this is an another reason that I like it , the progressive tense, more will flood hero system essence flowing show out of it, so that when the end of the movie, almost feel it's a completely ZhongChangPian film with more than two hours. More diffuse wei chapter of heroes in a wide range of figures may one day a visual fatigue, but it would never belong to the "captain America 3", in the name of the team hero aggregation, again write the diffuse light another legend of the world . Although "captain America 3" between China and the United States is at the same time, but in many countries has been released in April, in Hong Kong on April 27, "captain America 3" at the box office more broke through 67 million, to 70 million .Although the film worldwide sales reached 200 million dollars, but the production cost of nearly $300 million, still not worth celebrating, but fortunately the film at the box office in the United States and China will be decided "captain America 3" at the box office canbecome the key of the global box-office king in 2016. Many fans have said such a mouth "captain America 3" in China will eventually break through 3 billion at the box office. But if theaters eventually decide to postpone the it offline, at 1.5 billion is no suspense .At last , I will still recommend the Captain America 3 to the other people , the story is wonderful and the science fiction of the film is also perfect . Thank you !。
