As a representative of eastern culture, China mainly uses chopsticks and spoon to eat.Chopsticks are just two small sticks but people can use it to eat almost all kinds of food.
1.Characteristics of diet culture
❖China is one of the most ancient countries in the world, and created innumerable splendid civilization. In this culture, it makes China contain more expansive and profound diet. It has experienced several thousand years of history development, and has become one of the most important Chinese traditional cultures of department.
The golden and silver chopsticks only used by the rich people.

❖ In western countries
In western countries, the main table wares are knives, forks and spoons. Usually people use knife to cut the meat and then they use the fork to eat.Therefore, knife and fork are always used together.
Chinese people hanker for a diet which is just the “mood” that is difficult for one to say anything. (追求感性饮食)
Now Chinese people pay more attention to Medicated diet and Diet Theropy.(药膳和食疗)

❖ They pay more attention to animal protein(蛋白质) and fat intake.In the structure of diet, it is mainly dishes, beef, chicken, pork, mutton and fish. So the meat diet has been in very big proportion. In modern times, planting proportion is increasing, but the proportion of meat still bigger than that in China.

The western-style banquets, although the food and wine are very important, but in fact they are just foil. The core of the Banquet is friendship, by the conversation with the guests who sitting next to achieve the purpose of recreation.
4.Diet customs in festivals
As the symbols of the culture,festivals show the national culture and national emotions. Diet customs in festivals are the very important part in festival activities.
❖ Because of the district difference in our land, it gradually formed eight major cuisines .Chinese food culture has become a pearl of the world food culture.
❖ As dishes, things will not be mixed up. The chicken is chicken; steak is steak, even in groups, which are also conducted in a shallow dish. Color is clear, but the tastes of the various materials are separated, not to reconcile, and the entire flavor is also simple and clear.
3.Diet patterns
❖In China, if there is a celebration, no matter what, there will be only one form, as sitting together, sharing one feast. Banquet uses round tables, which has created a unity of form, which is courtesy, comity atmosphere. Cate are in the center of the table. It is the objects for people to appreciate and taste, and it is also an intermediate of communication.

❖ Western diet is a rational concept, regardless of the color of food, flavor and shape, but nutrition must be important.
❖ In celebration, it stresses tableware, stresses the servings, and stresses the color and shape in the mix of materials. But no matter how luxurious the grade is; from Los Angeles to New York, only one taste of steak, it is no art to speak of.
