2019 高考英语二轮(阅读理解)能力提高操练(04)及分析(****** )Did you ever think someone was scary because they looked different or atestrange food? Well, they might think the same about you! One of the things we allneed to do is to celebrate variety. We shouldn't think badly of people from othercultures because they are different from our own.Sometimes we judge people from other countries unfairly, because one person fromthat culture did something bad. Well, has your class ever been punished just because a few kids were causing trouble? Has your whole family ever been blamed for something your little sister did? It doesn't seem fair, does it? It's just asunfair to blamea whole culture for what two or three people do.So here are some things that you can do to help yourself understand other cultures: 1. Find commonground! Rememberthat even though some people look different on the outside, it doesn't change what they look on the inside. They still have the samefeelings!2. Don't blame everyone because of one! 'So let's-say someone from another culture is being mean and you decide to avoid everyone from that culture. Well, think about it Why are you blaming them for something they didn't have anything to do with? Put yourself in their shoes. Howwould you feel? Trying, to understand how a person thinks can be a very good way to understand why they are acting that way. Remember, otherpeople may not think the same way.3. Try to make friends with people from other cultures. You could ask themwhat they know about their culture, or what it was like in their country. Try foods from that culture, or ask them if they know any words in that language. You mightbe surprised at how pure other cultures can be! You call have great discussions and have lots of fun doing new things.4.Know that people always judge other people. If you know what you arethinking then you can help make things easier. Pay attention to what you thinkabout other people. It helps!1.What is mainly discussed in this passage?A.Why there are differences between people.B.What to do to understand other cultures.C.How people feel when they meet people from other cultures.D.Where differences between people lie. 2.In the author' s opinion, one mistake about how we treat culturaldifferences is that we_________.A.cannot see and share what people have in commonB.believe that other people may certainly thin badly of usC.don't want to learn anything valuable in other culturesD.try to find the reason for the differences答案: B指导:细节理解题. A3.The underlined word "celebrate" here most probably means_________.A.to feel proud ofB.to express ideas toC.to praise and enjoyD.to pay attention to答案: C 指导:词义猜想题.celebrate 往常旳意义是“庆贺”,但这里应是“欣赏”之意.celebrate variety意即要把文化旳差异看作是一件好事.4. You can use it to fly a kite or to sail a boat. Wind is one of our cleanest and richest power sources (来源), as well as one of the oldest. Evidence shows that windmills (风车) began to be used in ancient Iran back in the seventh century BC. They were first introduced to Europe duringthe 1100s, when armies returned from the Middle East with knowledge of using wind power. For many centuries, people used windmills to grind (磨碎) wheat into flour or pump water from deep underground when electricity was discovered in the late 1800s, people living in remote areas began to use them to produce electricity. This allowed them to have electric lights and radio. However, by the 1940s when electricity was available to people in almost all areas of the United States, windmills were rarely used.During the 1970s, people started becoming concerned about the pollution that is created when coal and gas are burned to produce electricity. People also realized that the supply of coal and gas would not last forever. Then, wind was rediscovered, though it means higher costs. Today, there is a global movement to supply more and more of our electricity through the use of wind. 5.From the text we know that windmills ________.A. were invented by European armiesB. have a history of more than 2,800 yearsC. used to supply power to radio in remote areasD. have rarely been used since electricity was discovered答案:C. 6.What was a new use for wind power in the late l9th centuryA. I also love my laptop computer,as it holds all of my writing and this love of technology, I know that there are times when I need to move away from these device(设备) and truly communicate with others. On occasion,I teach a course called History Matters for a group of higher education managers. My goals for the class include a full discussion of historical themes and I want students to thoroughly study the material and exchange their ideas with each other in the classroom,I have a rule—no laptops, iPads, phones, students were told my rule in advance of the class, some of them were not happy. Most students assume that my reasons for this rule include unpleasant experiences in the past with students misusing technology. There's a bit of truth to students assume that I am antitechnology. There's no truth in that at all. I love technology and try to keep up with it so I can relate to my students. The real reason why I ask students to leave technology at the door is that I think there are very few places in which we can have deep conversations and truly engage complex ideas. Interruptions by technology often break concentration and allow for too much dependence on outside information for ideas. I want students to dig deep within themselves for inspiration and ideas. I want them to push each other to think differently and to make connections between course material and the class discussion.I've been teaching my history class in this way for many years and the evaluations reflect student satisfaction with the environment that I realize that with deepconversation and challenge, they learn at a level that helps them keep the course material beyond the classroom.I'm not saying that I won't ever change my mind about technology use in my history class, but until I hear a really good reason for the change,I'm sticking to my plan.A few hours of technologyfree dialogue is just too sweet to give up. 9.Some of the students in the history class were unhappy with ________.A. the course materialB. others' misuse of technologyC. discussion topicsD. the author's class regulations答案:D. 由第二段旳“When students were told my rule in advance of the class, some of them wer e not happy .” 10.The underlined word “engage ”in probably means ________.A. exploreB. acceptC. changeD. reject答案: A.词义猜测题.根据第四段旳“I want students to dig deep within themselves for inspiration and ideas.” 11.According to the author, the use of technology in the classroom may ________.A. keep students from doing independent thinkingB. encourage students to have indepth conversationsC. help students to better understand complex themesD. affect students' concentration on course evaluation答案: A.推理判断题.由第四段旳“Interruptions by technology often break concentration and allow for too much dependence on outside information for ideas .” 12.It can be inferred from the last paragraph that the author ________.A. is quite stubbornB. will give up teaching historyC. will change his teaching plan soonv1.0 可编辑可修改D. values technologyfree dialogues in his class答案: D.推理判断题. 介绍“Live Card”与“Get it together团购”旳好处以及预定方式.13.If you want to join Live Card to save money on tickets, you can call________.A.0844 847 2484 B.0800 587 5007C.0844 499 6699 D.0161 245 6609答案:C. 根据Live Card一栏最后一句Call 0844 499 6699 to join Live Card today 可知C项正确.14.How can you pay for a ticket when you book by postA.By visiting the website of a post office.B.By going to your local bank in person.C.By enclosing your Live Card in an envelope.D.By providing your credit card information. 细读By post一栏可以排除A、B、C三项,D项“提供个人信用卡信息”与该栏中“enclosing (附寄)...your credit details”相对应.15.What benefit can group bookers enjoy according to the textA.Delayed payment for tickets. D.Generous discounts on tickets.答案:A. 所以A项正确.E(·江西卷,D) Why should mankind explore space Why should money, time and effort be spent exploring and researching something with so few apparent benefits Why should resources be spent on space rather than on conditions and people on Earth These are questions that, understandably, are very often asked.Perhaps the best answer lies in our genetic makeup(基因构成) as human beings. What drove our ancestors to move from the trees into the plains, and on into all possible areas and environments The wider the spread of a species, the better its chance of survival. Perhaps the best reason for exploring space is this genetic tendency to expand wherever possible.Nearly every successful civilization has explored, because by doing so, any dangers in surrounding areas can be identified and prepared for. Without knowledge, we may be completely destroyed by the danger. With knowledge, we can lessen its effects.Exploration also allows minerals and other potential(潜在旳) resources to be found. Even if we have no immediate need of them, they will perhaps be useful later. Resources may be more than physical possessions. Knowledge or techniques have been acquired through exploration. The techniques may have medical applications which can improve the length or quality of our lives. We have already benefited from other spinoffs including improvements in earthquake prediction, in satellites for weather forecasting and in communications systems. Even nonstick pans and mirrored sunglasses arebyproducts(副产品) of technological developments in the space industry! While many resources are spent on what seems a small return, the exploration of space allows creative, brave and intelligent members of our species to focus on what may serve to save us. While space may hold many wonders and explanations of how the universe was formed or how it works, it also holds dangers. The danger exists, but knowledge can help human beings to survive. Without the ability to reach out across space, the chance to save ourselves might not exist. While Earth is the only planet known to support life, surely the adaptive ability of humans would allow us to live on other planets. It is true that the lifestyle would be different, but human life and cultures have adapted in the past and surely could in the future. 16.Why does the author mention the questions in Paragraph 1A.To express his doubts. B.To compare different ideas.C.To introduce points for discussion. D.To describe the conditions on Earth. 17.What is the reason for exploring space based on Paragraph 2A.Humans are natureborn to do so.B.Humans have the tendency to fight.C.Humans may find new sources of food.D.Humans don't like to stay in the same place.答案:A. 18.The underlined word “spinoffs” in Paragraph 4 probably refers to ________.A.survival chances B.potential resourcesC.unexpected benefits D.physical possessions答案:C. 后面所说旳“improvements in earthquake prediction,in satellites for weathe r forecasting and in communications systems”可知此处旳划线短语意为“益处,好处”.19.What makes it possible for humans to live on other planetsA.Our genetic makeup.

2.1.1 评价物(作者认为某物怎什么样?)What is the author's attitude toward Navajas' studies? Although the studies led by Navajas have limitations and many questions remain, the potential implications for group discussion and decision-making are enormous. 【Approving】What does the author think of Weiner's book?(2023-甲-C-4)原文: He makes philosophical thought an appealing exercise that improves the quality of our experiences, and he does so with plenty of humor. ...The Socrates Express is afun, sharp book that draws readers in with its apparent simplicity and gradually pulls them in deeper thoughts on desire, loneliness, and aging. ... 【Humorous and straightforward】How does the author find his photos taken at Devil's Lake? Once we found the place, it was stressful getting lights and cameras set up in the limited time. Still, looking back on the photos, they are some of my best shots though they could have been so much better if I would have been prepared and managed my time wisely.【Satisfying】What does the author think of victors' standards for joining the genius club? In the sciences and arts, those praised as geniuses were most often white men, of European origin. Perhaps this is not a surprise. It's said that history is written by the victors, and those victors set the standards for admission to the genius club. When contributions were made by geniuses outside the club - women, or people of a different color or belief -they were unacknowledged and rejected by others. 【unfair】Which word best describes the author's attitude to race walking? As a result, she says, some of the injuries associated with running, such as runner's knee, are uncommon among race walkers. But the sport’s strange form does place considerable stress on the ankles and hips, so people with a history of suc h injuries might want to be cautious in adopting the sport. In fact, anyone wishing to try race walking should probably first consult a coach or experienced racer to learn proper technique, shesays. It takes some practice. 【Objective】Which word best describes the author's relationship with books as a child? I have a special place in my heart for libraries. I have for as long as I can remember.I was always an enthusiastic reader, sometimes reading up to three books a day as a child. Stories were like air to me and while other kids played ball or went to parties, I lived outadventures through the books I checked out from the library.【Inseparable】2..2 评价事(作者认为某现象怎什么样?)What is the author’s attitude to the popularization of emotional intelligence?(2021-I-D-3)原文:Although popular beliefs regarding emotional intelligence run far ahead of what research can reasonably support, the overall effects of the publicity have been more beneficial than harmful. The most positive aspect of this popularization is a new and much needed emphasis on emotion by employers, educators and others interested in promoting social well-being. The popularization of emotional intelligence has helped both the public and researchers re-evaluate the functionality of emotionsand how they serve people adaptively in everyday life. 【Favorable】What did the author think of raising the tiger cubs at home? As they grew more mobile, we let them move freely around the house during the day, but when we were asleep we had to contain them in a large room, otherwise they'd get up to mischief. We'd come down in the morning to find they'd turned theroom upside down, and left it looking like a zoo.【Tiring】2.1.3 评价人(作者认为某人是什么样的人?)What does the author think of himself? Well, I may be old, but I’m not hopelessly challenged, digitally speaking. I editvideo and produce audio. I use mobile payment. I’ve even built websites.【Digitally competent】2.2 读者视角读者视角的评价类题目,题干中一般不会出现the author,更强调读者对人、事和物的分析和评价。

【说明文】【样题】(2018·全国新课标I,D)We may think we’re a culture that gets rid of our worn technology at the first sight of something shiny and new, but a new study shows that we keep using our old devices (装置) well after they go out of style. That’s bad news for the environment– and our wallets – as these outdated devices consume much more energy than the newer ones that do the same things. To figure out how much power these devices are using, Callie Babbitt and her colleagues at the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York tracked the environmental costs for each product throughout its life –from when its minerals are mined to when we stop using the device. This method provided a readout for how home energy use has evolved since the early 1990s. Devices were grouped by generation. Desktop computers, basic mobile phones, and box-set TVs defined 1992. Digital cameras arrived on the scene in 1997. And MP3 players, smart phones, and LCD TVs entered homes in 2002, before tablets and e-readers showed up in 2007.As we accumulated more devices, however, we didn’t throw out our old ones.“The living-room television is replaced and gets planted in the kids’ room, and suddenly one day, you have a TV in every room of the house,” said one researcher. The average number of electronic devices rose from four per household in 1992 to 13 in 2007. We’re not just keeping these old devices– we continue to use them. According to the analysis of Babbitt’s team, old desktop monitors and boxTVs with cathode ray tubes are the worst devices with their energy consumption and contribution to greenhouse gas emissions (排放) more than doubling during the 1992 to 2007 window. So what’s the solution(解决方案)? The team’s data only went up to 2007, but the researchers also explored what would happen if consumers replaced old products with new electronics that serve more than one function, such as a tablet for word processing and TV viewing. They found that more on-demand entertainment viewing on tablets instead of TVs and desktop computers could cut energy consumption by 44%.32. What does the author think of new devices?A. They are environment-friendly.B. They are no better than the old.C. They cost more to use at home.D. They go out of style quickly.33. Why did Babbitt’s team conduct the research?A. To reduce the cost of minerals.B. To test the life cycle of a product.C. To update consumers on new technology.D. To find out electricity consumption of the devices.34. Which of the following uses the least energy?A. The box-set TV.B. The tablet.C. The LCD TV.D. The desktop computer.35. What does the text suggest people do about old electronic devices?A. Stop using them.B. Take them apart.C. Upgrade them.D.

2019高考英语二轮阅读理解金题编(1)及解析2019高考英语二轮阅读理解金题编(一)及解析Section AA(2018吉林三调,D)Failure is probably the most exhausting experience a person ever has. There is nothing more tiring than not succeeding. We experience this tiredness in two ways: as start-up fatigue(疲惫)and performance fatigue. In the former case, we keep putting off a task because it is either too boring or too difficult. And the longer we delay it, the more tired we feel.Such start-up fatigue is very real, even if not actually physical, not something in our muscles and bones. The solution is obvious though perhaps not easy to apply: always handle the most difficult job first.Years ago, I was asked to write 102 essays on the great ideas of some famous authors. Applying my own rule, I determined to write them in alphabetical order(按字母顺序), never letting myself leave out a tough idea. And I always started the day’s work with the difficult task of essay-writing.Experience proved that the rule works.Performance fatigue is more difficult to handle. Though willing to get started, we cannot seem to do the job right. Its difficulties appear so great that, however hard we work, we fail again and again. In such a situation, I work as hard as I can—then let the unconscious take over. When planning Encyclopaedia Britannica(《大英百科全书》), I had to create a table of contents based on the topics of its articles. Nothing like this had ever been done before, and dayafter day I kept coming up with solutions, but none of them worked. My fatigue became almost unbearable. One day, mentally exhausted, I wrote down all the reasons why this problem could not be solved. I tried to convince myself that the trouble was with the problem itself, not with me. Relieved, I sat back in an easy chair and fell asleep. An hour later, I woke up suddenly with the solution clearly in mind. In the weeks that followed, the solution which had come up in my unconscious mind provedcorrect at every step. Though I worked as hard as before, I felt no fatigue. Success was now as exciting as failure had been depressing.Human beings, I believe, must try to succeed. Success, then, means never feeling tired.1.People with start-up fatigue are most likely to.A.delay tasksB.work hardC.seek helpD.accept failure2.What does the author recommend doing to prevent start-up fatigue?A.Writing essays in strict order.B.Building up physical strength.C.Leaving out the toughest ideas.D.Dealing with the hardest task first.3.On what occasion does a person probably suffer from performance fatigue?A.Before starting a difficult task.B.When all the solutions fail.C.If the job is rather boring.D.After finding a way out.4.According to the author, the unconscious mind may help us.A.ignore mental problemsB.get some nice sleepC.gain complete reliefD.find the right solutionB(2017山东临沂三模)Sometimes the toughest thing about feelings is sharing them with others.Sharing your feelings helps you whether your feelings are wonderful or terrible.Sharing also helps you to get closer to people you care about and who care about you.But how?You can’t tell your friends what’s inside your backpack if you don’t know what’s in there yourself.Feelings are the same way. Before you can share them with anyone, you have to figure out what feelings you have.Making a list of your feelings can help. You can do this in your mind or by writing them out or even by drawing pictures. Is something bothering you?Does it make you frustrated or terrified?Do you feel this emotion only once in a while or most of the time? The way a person feels inside is important. If you keep feelings locked inside,it can even make you feel sick! But if you talk with someone who cares for you,you will almost always start to feel better. It doesn’t mean your problems and worries magically disappear, but at least someone else knows what’s bothering you and can help you find solutions.Your mom and dad want to know if you have problems and what’s happening in your life. But what if a kid doesn’t want totalk with parents? Then find another adult you trust, like a relative or a teacher at school.Maybe this person can help you talk with your parents about your problem or concern.Once you know who you can talk with, you’ll want to pick a time and place to talk. You can talk publicly in your family. But some kids are more private than others and they will feel shy about sharing their feelings. Then find a quiet place or write it down on a piece of paper.A kid doesn’t have to share every feeling he or she has.5.What does the passage mainly tell us?A.The importance of feelings.B.How to figure out your feelings.C.How to share your feelings.D.The people sharing your feelings.6.What can we learn from Paragraph 2?A.Kids can’t tell their friends about their backpacks.B.Kids should know about themselves first before sharing.C.Kids need to find out what others think of them first.D.Kids’ feelings are the same in a way.7.What might happen after sharing your feelings with others?A.You’ll recover from your illness.B.You will feel relieved.C.Your worries will magically disappear.D.You’ll like more private talks.8.Where is this passage probably taken from?A.A science fiction.B.A parents’ brochure.C.A children’s magazine.D.A notice board.Section B(2018安徽江南十校3月联考,B)My friend Jennifer was going to be at my school!I was convinced that we would be best friends. She introduced me to her friend Amy and we had lots of fun together. But things started to change. Jennifer wanted to be the “leader”of our little group. She w as controlling, and I couldn’t make new friends. If I made new friends, she would decide that I was“mad at her”. Pretty soon being Jennifer’s friend was a struggle.I always waited for Jennifer and Amy after class, but sometimes when they left, they’d walk right past me as if they couldn’t even see me.We often gossiped about people, and I soon realized that nobody was good enough for Jennifer. She had a list of bad things about everybody, even Amy, and about me, I guessed. I had changed—I became moody, depressed, and lonely. I spent days trying not to cry. I felt so left out. Finally, something snapped. I was sick of having to battle for friendship. I stopped sitting with Jennifer at lunch and waiting for her after class. Jennifer quickly announced I was “mad at her”.I said, “I’m not mad. I just want to make more friends.”But to Jennifer, it was all or nothing, and she was convinced I was mad at her. Our friendship fell to pieces. It was tough at first, but I found many girls whom Jennifer had classified as “moody”or “mean”to be the sweetest, friendliest people in the world. Now, I have tons of friends. They support me when I am sad, and I support them. We have fun together and I love them all. It amazes me how easy our friendship is. There is no struggling to be on top—we are all equal. It doesn’t matter to me if two of them walk away or buy friendship necklaces together. It doesn’thurt my feelings or make me feel alone.I lost a friend, but I am a happier person now.1.The writer thought Jennifer.A.far too outstanding to matchB.rather annoying and dullC.too self-centeredD.the right one to make friends with2.What does the underlined part “something snapped”in Paragraph 4 mean?A.The writer and Jennifer hated each other.B.The writer and Jennifer broke up.C.Jennifer treated the writer worse.D.The writer felt mad about losing Jennifer.3.The writer decided to break up with Jennifer because.A.Jennifer spoke ill of her behind her backB.she had made other friendsC.Jennifer had hurt her feelingsD.other girls were sweeter and friendlier than Jennifer4.What can be inferred from the passage?A.The writer now regrets losing her friend Jennifer.B.The writer still gets upset when left out occasionally.C.The writer’s new friends are all moody and mean.D.The writer enjoys more than just one friendship.Section CAStained glass (彩色玻璃) artists create different designs by making cuts on the glass to “score”it and then breaking off the pattern that they want to use in the finished product. The most diffic ult cut in stained glass is called an inside cut. Basically, it’s a curved (弯曲的) line where you throw away the part inside ofthe curve. The problem with inside cuts is that the edges of the curve tend to break off when the pieces of scored glass are broken apart. As an artist talked about inside cuts, he said, “The glass will break into pieces if you try to cut too much off at once. The best way to do an inside cut is slice off smaller curves piece by piece. In fact, it’s not just the best way to do it, but it’s the only way to do it.”How many times do you try to make a big change and cut the entire piece at once? We convince ourselves that we can do this all the time. We’ll commit to transforming our diet overnight or we get inspired to launch a business in a weekend or we finally get motivated to work out and push ourselves to the edge of burning out.Why not approach your goals and dreams like the stained glass artist? Starting by slicing a shallow curve and breaking a small piece off, you cut a slightly deeper curve and break that off until you have your full inside cuts. By slowly cutting deeper and deeper curves, you prevent the glass from breaking as it change shapes.Of course, changing isn’t easy—no matter how you do it. Slow gains are boring, but if we keep making small improvements, then pretty soon we will end up with a beautiful masterpiece instead of a bunch of broken pieces.1.Why is an inside cut believed to be the most difficult?A.It needs a one-and-only design.B.It calls for nothing but inspiration.C.The edges of the curve break easily.D.The glass inside the curve is easily broken.2.What mistakes are easily made according to Paragraph 3?A.Being too eager to make improvements.B.Being too worried about the final outcome.C.Trying to make a complete change all at once.D.Developing to focus on progress instead of achievements.3.What does the author suggest by saying “slicing a shallow curve”?A.Moving forward with a clear aim.B.Starting slow and improving little by little.C.Developing a new habit with great determination.D.Handling something major first and ignore the minor part.4.What is the author’s purpose in writing the text?A.To show his love of stained glass.B.To introduce the skill of an inside cut.C.To appreciate designs of stained glass artists.D.To share his opinions on how to make a change.B(2017湖北武汉4月调研)Crying is the rawest sign of human emotions. We cry when we can’t hold inside what we feel any more. We cry when we’re at our best, and when we’re at our worst. By we, I mean all of us. Men included. But we never see other men cry. In no western culture has it ever been acceptable for men to shed (流泪) more than a single tear, and even then it’s reserved for grand victories, defeats and deaths. A Dutch research suggests that women cry between three and five times more than men. Generally men and women cry primarily over the same things—deaths, break-ups and homesickness, but researchers believe that men cry more often than women when it comes to positive events.I want to admit—I’m a bit of a crier. However, having neverreally experienced deaths in my life, a few weeks ago I experienced what it means to really, truly, pour my heart out in tears.See, my dog was killed by a car right outside my house. Being a witness to this painful event left me in shock for a good hour, but then the floodgates opened. Over the next 48 hours, I might have cried 20 times. Once or twice I crouched(蹲) on the floor with my head in my hands and tears were the only outlet. It is suggested in the book Adult Crying:A Biopsychosocial Approach that there’s a certain pleasure in crying. It helps ease stress when there is no other way to express ourselves. In those days after my dog’s death, I remember thinking, “I’ve got to stop this crying.”It felt unmanly. It felt like a sign of weakness. I’ve since realized that tears are for everybody;they’re not gender-specific. They show we have sympathy, and allow us to get rid of stress and just feel.5.What does the first paragraph mainly talk about?A.Crying is a raw human emotion.B.Crying is an emotion beyond control.C.Crying is an emotion showing sadness.D.Crying is an emotion showing happiness.6.What’s the difference between men and women in crying according to the Dutch research?A.They cry over different matters.B.They cry at different times of life.C.Women cry more often over deaths.D.Men are more likely to have tears of joy.7.What did the author think of his crying over his dog’s death?A.A sign of strength.B.A sign of weakness.C.Behavior of being womanish.D.A way of reducing emotional stress.8.What’s the best title for the text?A.Men, never cry like womenB.Men, it’s OK to cry sometimesC.Crying solves psychological problemsD.Crying explains differences between men and womenSection D(2018内蒙古呼和浩特第一次质量调研,C)Why do you go to the library? For books, yes—but you like books because they tell stories. You hope to get lost in a story or be transported into someone else’s life. At one type of library you can do just that—even though there’s not a s ingle book.At a Human Library, instead of books, you can “borrow”people. People with unique life stories volunteer to be the “books”. For a certain amount of time, you can ask them questions and listen to their stories, which are as fascinating as any you canfind in a book. (If you attend, make sure to review the habits that make you a good listener.) Many of the stories have to do with depressing topics. You can speak with a refugee, a soldier suffering from PTSD(创伤后应激障碍), a homeless person or a woman living with HIV. The Human Library encourages people to take time to truly get to know and learn from someone they might otherwise make a snap judgement about. According to its website, the Human Library is “a place where difficult questions are expected, ap preciated and answered”.The Human Library Organization came into being in Copenhagen, Denmark in 2000.Ronni Abergel, his brother, andsome colleagues hosted a four-day event during a major Northern European festival. After the success of this event, Abergel founded the Human Library Organization, which has been growing ever since.Though there are a few permanent human libraries, most aren’t places at all, but events. Though many do take place at physical libraries, you don’t need a library card—anyone can come and be part of the experience. There have been Human Library events all over the globe, in universities and in pubs, from Chicago to Tunis to Edinburgh to San Antonio. Check out the organization’s Facebook page to see when the Human Library might be arriving near you.1.What shall we do before going to the Human Library?A.Bring a book.B.Get a library card.C.Get prepared to be a good listener.D.Make an appointment.2.What does the underlined word “snap”in Paragraph 2 mean?A.True.B.Obvious.C.Wrong.D.Quick.3.What is the best title of the text?A.A Library in DenmarkB.The Human Library OrganizationC.The Human Library Is Not FarD.“Borrow”People Instead of Books答案与解析一A[语篇解读]本文是一篇说明文。

考点分类练(四)推理判断题——观点态度类A(2023·新高考Ⅰ卷)On March 7, 1907, the English statistician Francis Galton published a paper which illustrated what has e to be known as the “wisdom of crowds” effect. The experiment of estimation he conducted showed that in some cases, the average of a large number of independent estimates could be quite accurate. This effect capitalizes on the fact that when people make errors, those errors aren’t always the same. Some people will tend to overestimate, and some to underestimate. When enough of these errors are averaged together, they cancel each other out, resulting in a more accurate estimate. If people are similar and tend to make the same errors, then their errors won’t cancel each other out. In more technical terms, the wisdom of crowds requires that people’s estimates be independent. If for whatever reasons, people’s errors bee correlated or dependent, the accuracy of the estimate will go down. But a new study led by Joaquin Navajas offered an interesting twist(转折) on this classic phenomenon. The key finding of the study was that when crowds were further divided into smaller groups that were allowed to have a discussion, the averages from these groups were more accurate than those from an equal number of independent individuals. For instance, the average obtained from the estimates of four discussion groups of five was significantly more accurate than the average obtained from 20 independent individuals. In a followup study with 100 university students, the researchers tried to get a better sense of what the group members actually did in their discussion. Did they tend to go with those most confident about their estimates? Did they follow those least willing to change their minds? This happened some of the time, but it wasn’t the dominant response. Most frequently, the groups reported that they “shared arguments and reasoned together.”Somehow, these arguments and reasoning resulted in a global reduction in error. Although the studies led by Navajas have limitations and many questions remain the potential implications for group discussion and decisionmaking are enormous.1.What is paragraph 2 of the text mainly about?A.The methods of estimation.B.The underlying logic of the effect.C.The causes of people’s errors.D.The design of Galton’s experiment.2.Navajas’ study found that the average accuracy could increase even if .A.the crowds were relatively smallB.there were occasional underestimatesC.individuals did not municateD.estimates were not fully independent3.What did the followup study focus on?A.The size of the groups.B.The dominant members.C.The discussion process.D.The individual estimates.4.What is the author’s attitude toward Navajas’studies?A.Unclear.B.Dismissive.C.Doubtful.D.Approving.B(2021·山东菏泽一模)Charvi Goyal is a high school student from Dallas, Texas, who helps out other classmates by tutoring them between classes. A tutor is someone who teaches one person or a very small group of students. When Goyal’s high school moved online because of the pandemic, she decided to take her teaching online. The junior and three of her fellow students created TutorScope, a programme that offers free tutoring services to other children, including younger ones. It started with a small number of tutors who helped young people in their city. But it has grown into a group of 22 tutors from Texas, Arizona and Ohio. They have helped more than 300 students.TutorScope aims to give the oneonone help that teachers have traditionally given while walking around their classrooms. But now, many teachers cannot provide that oneonone support because they lack time or have issues with technology.Sarah Newman said her children, 7yearold twins, had helpful TutorScope experiences. “With these tutors, I realise they have time,” she said, “I think they are very patient with these younger kids, which I do not even have as a mother. I have patience for other things, but I don’t have patience for teaching.”What makes the TutorScope effort special is the connection between the teenage volunteers and the other students they are helping. Although the pandemic has forced many students to look inward, Goyal said that working with others on a big project had permitted her to look outward.“My confidence level has increased,” Goyal said. She added that she has made friends with other students from her school. She said one of the best things about running a growing nonprofit programme is that it does help with the boredom of being stuck at home.5.What did Goyal do because of the pandemic?A.She helped her classmates at school.B.She got active in fighting a disease.C.She offered online classes to students.D.She went to another country for help.6.What’s the purpose of TutorScope?A.To give online help.B.To make profits.C.To make friends.D.To choose volunteers.7.What’s Sarah Newman’s attitude towards the programme?A.Favourable.B.Tolerant.C.Skeptical.D.Critical.8.What can we learn from Goyal’s success?A.Putting the cart before the horse.B.A friend in need is a friend indeed.C.No man can do two things at once.D.Helping others will benefit oneself.COnline education has grown fast over the past ten years. The explosion of technology has made teaching outside the traditional classroom possible for teachers and has provided learners with easy access to course materials. In April, 2005, I was approached by a student who was interested in our doctoral programme. However, the first question out of her mouth was,“Do you offer any online courses?” Later that day, as I was reading the conference programme guide and trying for interesting presentations, I noticed many workshops on webbased learning and online education. I later attended two of those workshops and met several professors from different universities who had either taught online courses for quite some time or who were discovering the best practice for teaching online. These experiences helped me realise at least to some extent the degree of growth in online education.I made several attempts to enrich my knowledge of distance learning and online teaching. I consulted with my colleagues who were teaching online courses. This helped me recognise the importance of getting materials prepared even before the start of a term. I also learned that online courses may consume more time than regular classroom teaching. And I attended several workshops regarding online education and established a network with those who were involved in online programmes at other universities. I will consider these people as my consultants as I begin to design my own online course. Also, I conducted a brief survey with 15 students and two staff members who had taken or taught an online course before to understand their experience. Eventually I pleted a literature review which gave me the foundation and the background of understanding the need for online education.9.Why did the author take a student for example?A.To show students’ love for the doctoral programme.B.To persuade learners of traditional education.C.To explain the growing trend of online education.D.To predict the future of the teaching career.10.What caused the author to know more about online education?A.The appetite for knowledge.B.The professional responsibilities.C.The requirement of research.D.The colleagues’ encouragement.11.What is the author’s attitude to online education?A.Carefree.B.Doubtful.C.Supportive.D.Unwilling.

Here are six steps to better studying.Pay attention in classDo you have trouble paying attention in class? Are you sitting next to a loud person? Tell your teacher or parents about any problem that is preventing you from paying attention.Take good notesWrite down facts that your teacher mentions or writes on the board. Try to use good handwriting so you can read your notes later. It's a good idea to keep your notes organized by subject.Plan ahead for tests and projectsWaiting until Thursday night to study for Friday's test will make it hard to do your best. One of the best ways to make sure that doesn't happen is to plan ahead. Write down your test dates. You can then plan how much to do after school each day, and how much time to spend on each topic.Break it upWhen there's a lot to study, it can help to break things into several parts. Let's say you have a spelling test on 20 words. Instead of thinking about all of the words at once, try breaking them down into five-word groups and work on one or two different groups each night.Ask for helpYou can't study effectively if you don't understand the material. Be sure to ask your teacher for help. If you're at home when the confusion occurs, your mom or dad might be able to help. Sleep tightSo the test is tomorrow and you've followed your study plan—but suddenly you can't remember anything! Don't panic. Your brain needs time to digest all the information you've given it. Try to get a good night's sleep and you'll be surprised by what comes back to you in the morning.(1)We know from the passage that a loud person is ________.A. a student who always answers questions loudly in classB. someone who likes to talk with others in a loud voiceC. a student who likes speaking with others in classD. a person who makes a lot of noise in public places(2)If you don't understand what you have learnt, you can ________.A. read your notes over and over againB. turn to people around you for helpC. put aside the material for later reviewD. ask your teacher to explain it the next day (3)By saying “Sleep tight”, what does the author mean?A. Sleep again after waking up.B. Sleep holding your breath deep.C. Get a good night's sleep.D. Go to sleep early every night.2.

A“BANG!”the door caused a reverberation (回声). It was just standing there, with father standing on one side, and me on the other side.We were both in great anger. “Never set foot in this house again!”stormed father. With tears welling up in my eyes, I rushed out of the flat and ran along the street. The street lights were shining, causing rather sad feelings. I wandered aimlessly.A young father who held a child in his arms walked past me. I felt as if I saw my childhood from another space: happy and carefree. But now …I don’t know whether it is because I have grown up or because dad is getting old. We differ in our ways of thinking. We are just like two people coming from two different worlds. It feels like there is an iron door between us that can never be opened.I wandered the streets, without a destination in mind. My heart was frozen on this hot summer night. As I walked on, there were fewer and fewer people on the streets, until I had only the street lights to keep me company. When I finally reached the high-rise apartment block in which I lived, I saw that the light was still on.I thought to myself: “Is father waiting for me, or is he still angry with me?”In fact, it was nothing. Perhaps, dad was throwing away some of his old stamps. Perhaps he thought they were useless. I never had the courage to tell him that I liked collecting stamps. All the lights were off except father’s.Dad was always like this. Maybe he didn’t know how to express himself. After shouting at me, he never showed any pity or any moments of regret. This was how he always was. He has been a leader for so long that telling everyone else what to do has become his second nature. The light was still on. “Am I wrong?”I whispered, maybe…With the key in my hand, I was as nervous as I had ever been. At last, I decided to open the door. As soon as I opened the door, tears ran down my cheeks.I suddenly realized that the iron door that I had imagined between us did not exist at all. Love----it’s second to none.1.Which is the correct order of the following events according to the passage?a. I opened the door and entered the house.b. I ran out into the street angrily.c. I began to walk about in the street without any aim.A. e, b, d, c, aB. b, e, d, c, aC. b, e, c, d, aD. e, b, c, a, d2.According to the author, why did his father often shout at him?A. Perhaps the father was getting older and older.B. Perhaps the son had already grown up.C. Perhaps they never agreed with each other.D. Perhaps the father had been used to doing that.3.What did the author mean by the underlined sentence “My heart was frozen on this hot summer night”?A. He felt lonely because there were so few people on the street.B. He felt uncomfortable because it was a very hot night.C. He didn’t know where to go at all.D. 2020年2月2019高考英语二轮阅读理解金题编(四)及解+析Section AA(2018四川成都龙泉中学高三二诊,C)The North and South Poles are remote and freezing places that receive lots of animal visitors but few human tourists.But2007marked the beginning of the International Polar Year(IPY),a two-year-old activity of science projects that aim to show how important the poles are to the health of our planet.During the IPY,which lasted until March2009,thousands of researchers from more than60countries conducted more than200projects and expeditions to both the top and bottom of the world. In recent years, the polar regions have begun to change severely as a result of global warming.Temperatures there are rising faster than anywhere else on the Earth. As a result, the ice and snow in these regions are melting at record-setting rates. One result is that sea levels are rising around the world, putting animals and people at risk.“Only by studying the poles,”say IPY researchers,“can we find ways to protect them and ourselves.”Both the Arctic and the Antarctic are cold and remote, but the two regions have important differences. For one thing, the Arctic is an ice-covered ocean surrounded by land. The Antarctic,on the other hand,is a continent of ice-covered land surrounded by water. Most polar studies have focused on the Arctic, and that is where scientists have observed the most remarkable changes in the ice.During a typical year, the Arctic ice expands in the winter and shrinks in the summer. But recently, the amount of ice covering the ocean has been steadily dropping in both seasons.1.The goal of the International Polar Year is .A.to make it clear that the poles have much to do with a healthy earthB.to provide practical theory to further develop this distant areaC.to call on as many scientists as possible to do research on the polesD.to discover more mysteries unknown to man2.What is the main factor that has caused the changes of the poles?A.The increasing number of animals.B.The development of the poles.C.The melting of the poles.D.The rising temperature.3.What unusual phenomenon worries the scientists?A.In summer the ice of the Arctic loses faster.B.The ice covering the Arctic decreases even in winter.C.The ice of the Arctic increases less than in the past.D.The changes in the Arctic are more serious.B(2017山东烟台一模)In an effort to discourage people from using plastics, scientists have been hard at work inventing alternative packaging products. From water bottles made from seaweed to cutlery(餐具)made from rice and wheat,a number of inventions are set to change the way we eat while we are on the go,or having a relaxing picnic in the park. The idea of using seaweed to make eco-friendly(环保的)water bottles has been around for a few years.Recently,Ari Jonsson took his invention—a water bottle made from red seaweed—to show off at a festival. The bottles will only hold their shape as long as they are filled. As soon as these bottles are empty, they will begin to break down, though they would be perfectly safe to eat.Ari Jonsson’s bottles are a step closer to a widely used alternative to the current plastic ones. The eatable water container is not the only product to add to ourimage of the future.Narayana Pessapaty has also created eatable spoons. After the success of his spoons.Mr Pessapaty is ready to expand and introduce forks and chopsticks to his menu. His aim is to largely reduce the amount of plastic waste, which is a huge problem for waste sites all over the world. It is a product that may take up to500years to break down, and recycling companies worldwide are struggling to deal with it.Aside from the obvious benefits to the environment, this new packaging is also cheap to produce and therefore cheap to buy.Even better is the fact that similar eatable cutlery can be made at home, possibly a science project for children or just fun with friends. Why not get experimenting and create your own recipes?4.Why do scientists invent alternative packaging products?A.To make people’s life more convenient.B.To reduce the amount of plastic waste.C.To change the way we picnic outside.D.To show off their inventive talents.5.What makes Ari Jonsson’s water bottles eco-friendly?A.They can be made at home.B.They are cheap to produce and buy.C.They will hold their shape when they are filled.D.They will break down themselves when empty.6.What do Ari’s and Narayana’s inventions have in common?A.They are convenient to carry.B.They are safe to eat.C.They can be used for a short time.D.They are heavier than plastics.7.What can be inferred from this passage?A.Home-made eatable cutlery is likely to be popular.B.Eatable cutlery will completely replace plastics in the near future.C.No recycling companies can break down plastic waste.D.It’s unsafe for individuals to invent eatable cutlery at home.Section BA(2018甘肃西北师大附中三诊,C)A new study has found the amount of antibiotics(抗生素)given to farm animals is expected to increase by two-thirds over the next15years. Researchers are linking the growing dependence on the drugs to the rising demand for meat, milk and eggs. However, the drugs could quicken the development of antibiotic-resistant(对抗生素有抗药性的)infections. Such infections are already a major public health concern in the United States.Experts say when people stop living in poverty, the first thing they want to do is eat better. For most people, that means their diet should contain more meat. With the rapid development of Asia, people there are eating nearly four times as much meat, milk and dairy products as they did 50years ago.To meet that demand, farms have put many animals into smaller spaces. As the animals are crowded together, the easiest way to deal with some of the problems of crowding is to give them antibiotics. It’s clear that antibiotics help the animals stay healthy in a crowded environment and grow faster. But bacteria can develop resistance to the drugs gradually.Nowadays, doctors find antibiotics that once worked against the infections no longer work. The bacteria have learned ways to fight against the drugs. The heavy use of antibiotics in animals is responsible for the growth of antibiotic resistance worldwide. In the United States,at least two million people get drug-resistant infections each year and at least 23,000die from an infection.Europe has banned the use of antibiotics to increase animal growth. And the United States is hoping to persuade farmers to stop using antibiotics for that purpose.1.What accounts for the increasing amount of antibiotics given to farm animals?A.The need for eating diversely.B.The limited farm technology.C.The less effective antibiotics.D.The development of the economy.2.What does getting rid of poverty mean for most people?A.Making a lot of money.B.Having more meat to eat.C.Living in a better environment.D.Focusing more on health.3.From the passage,we can infer that using too many antibiotics in farm animals.A.causes animals to get infected more easilyB.will lead to the failure of all the antibioticsC.makes antibiotic-resistant bacteria spread to peopleD.has a negative effect on the growth of animals4.What’s the passage mainly about?A.A new way of raising farm animals.B.The abuse of antibiotics in farm animals.C.The disadvantages of using antibiotics.D.The reason for banning the use of antibiotics.B(2017山东莱芜二模)If you’re encouraged by the tiny house movement and think160square feet is just enough for your needs, you may want to contact the Academy ofConstruction and Design(ACAD)at IDEA Public Charter School in northeast Washington.Students in the program built a micro house with a kitchen,a bathroom, a sleeping loft with space for a queen-size bed and a storage loft, all set on a trailer for mobility. The exterior of the house was part of a continuous living exhibit in2015and was moved to the IDEA campus so students could work with builders to complete the interior earlier this year.McMahon said the ernment’s approval to push companies to hire District residents was at odds with the school system not preparing students for careers in construction, exploring or electrical work. McMahon gathered industry and community leaders to establish ACAD in2005 and he said100percent of the companies he contacted responded positively to the idea, including major firms such as JBG,Clark Construction,Hines Construction and Boston Properties.“When students make the connection between what they are learning and a potential career, their academics improve dramatically,”said Carol Randolph, chief operating officer of the D.C.Students Construction Trades Foundation.“Some of them who didn’t think college was an option now have a better chance because their classes have become relevant to a job.”“We teach them life skills and explain that even if you start as a laborer, there are opportunities to move up quickly,”he said.“We rewrite the story for them and explain that they can work for a few years, make good money, get promoted, and start their own business or go to school with less debts.”“Parents and school advisors can be the biggest obstacles because of the negative idea of construction as a blue-collar career,”Karriem said.“I get middle-school advisors on board to talk about the opportunities this education provides. These kids are learning lifelong skills that canhelp them in other fields, provide them with income and allow them to take care of their homes.”5.What is the purpose of the program of building a micro house?A.To satisfy different needs of people.B.To help acquire lifelong skills from the college.C.To make the college more attractive.D.To offer more job opportunities in colleges.6.What does the underlined part“at odds with”mean in the third paragraph?A.Inconsistent with.B.Familiar to.C.Harmonious with.D.Similar to.7.What can we infer from the words of Karriem?A.Students tend to choose the blue-collar career.B.Parents and school advisors are wrong.C.It’s hard to make the program popular.D.Life skills help improve scores greatly.8.Which of the following may be the title of the passage?A.A Micro House Program for StudentsB.Build a Micro House for Campus Students SoonC.Why Not Build More Tiny HousesD.Develop Lifelong Skills of StudentsSection C(2018河南高三4月毕业班高考适应性考试,D)When it comes to mental illness, many people often find it tough to get the help they need. This is especially true for young students to make the transition(过渡) to college life.“Sometimes, students don’t realize how hard it is to adjust to college,”said Laura Smith, associate dean of students at the University of Texas at Dallas.“You’re not the big fish in your classes anymore;you haveall kinds of personal stress;you’re away from home.Dealing with these things is not easy.”Students who are going through these problems sometimes want to reach out.But if students don’t feel comfortable seeking help, many feel that it’s the responsibility of their university to help them.“I really wish that there was more importance placed on how counseling(咨询) centers help students,”said Comnie Trinh.“Counseling services are just as important as academics and sports.”Trinh,27,graduated from Texas Woman’s University in2015.During college, she hosted various workshops on how to handle mental health condition.Trinh used her own story to connect with students who might be facing similar problems.High academic pressures, cultural differences as an Asian American and stressful social situations stood out as some of the most common causes of Trinh’s anxiety. It was only after years of personal problems that she could admit that reaching out isn’t a sign of weakness.“If you feel you can’t connect with other people around you,you should address the issue without shame,”Trinh said.“You’ll find that there are a lot of people out there who sincerely want to help you.”1.The passage can be seen as the author’s reflections upon .A.college lifeB.counseling servicesC.mental healthD.cultural differences2.What’s Trinh’s preferred solution to the problems mentioned?A.Making self-criticism.B.Handing the problems actively.C.Solving the problems on her own.D.Finding the causes of the problems.3.What does the underlined phrase“connect with”in the last paragraph probably mean?A.Get along with.B.Join together with.C.Be related to.D.Get through to.4.What can we learn from the text?A.Counseling services help do research.B.Adjusting to college life is a piece of cake.C.Hosting workshops improves students’ ability.D.Being brave to get help is not a sign of weakness.Section D(2018广东佛山高三教学质检二,D)Academic learning is usually in the spotlight at school, but teaching elementary-age students“soft”skills like self-control and how to get along with others might help to keep at-risk kids out of criminal trouble in the future.Once a program called Fast Track was started in the early1990s for more than7,600children of55schools in America. They were identified by their teachers and parents to be at high risk of developing aggressive behavioral problems. The students were randomly divided into two groups; half took part in the intervention, which included a teacher-led curriculum, parent training groups, academic tutoring and lessons in self-control and social skills. The program, which lasted from first grade through10th grade, reduced delinquency(少年犯罪),arrests and use of health and mental health services as the students aged through adolescence and young adulthood. In another latest study,by looking at the data from nearly900 students in previous findings, researchers found that about a third of theinfluence on future crime outcomes was due to the social and self-regulation skills the students learned from ages6to11.The academic skills,or hard skills like learning of physics, which were taught as part of Fast Track, turned out to have less of an influence on crime and delinquency rates than did the soft skills, which are associated with emotional(情绪的)intelligence.Soft skills might include teaching kids to work cooperatively in a group or teaching them how to think about the long-term consequences when they make a decision.Researchers drew the conclusion that these soft skills should be emphasized even more in our education system and in our system of socializing children.Parents should do all they can to promote these skills with their children as should education policymakers. To the extent we can improve those skills,we can improve outcomes in delinquency.1.Fast Track was intended for children who .A.were randomly chosen from their schoolsB.had some problems with academic learningC.often went against their teachers and parents’wishesD.were considered to have criminal trouble in the future2.What can be learned about“the intervention”in Paragraph2?A.It included all the students.B.It focused on social skills.C.It improved health services.D.It had positive outcomes.3.c-o/mpared with soft skills, hard skills .A.almost have no influence on studentsB.are more affected by students’emotionC.are mainly related to academic learningD.offer children greater self-control abilities4.Which is the best title for the passage?A.Soft Social Skills MatterB.Fast Track Helps ChildrenC.How to Prevent DelinquencyD.What to Do for EducationSection AA[语篇解读]由于全球变暖,地球两极地区的环境面临着很多危险。

训练目标(二)综合练——提高解题速度(加黑的题目为推理判断题,加★的为观点态度题)AWhat was the last thing you did before going to bed last night? You were probably on a device(设备):reading emails, surfing the web or checking social media. You’re not alone.A study by the National Sleep Foundation shows48%of American adults use devices such as phones or laptops in bed.Unlike reading and watching TV,modern devices are interactive(互动的)rather than passive.Their connectivity to the outside world comes into the bedroom. It appears there is a marked difference between staying up late with a good book or watching television in bed and using smartphones and laptops. The way we interact with electronic devices allows them to eat into far more of the time we should be asleep, according to researchers.“These devices are causing sleep procrastination(拖延),”says Marthew Walker,a professor of neuroscience and psychology at the University of California,Berkeley.“Sending a text message, posting something on Facebook or checking your email meansyou are waiting for a response and revs up your emotional nervous system.”Ben Carter,a professor at King’s College London, conducted a review of20studies into the effect of technology on children’s sleep patterns, finding even those who did not use phones or other devices before bed but had them in their bedrooms, slept less deeply than those who left their devices in another room.“It is perhaps the biggest unaddressed public health problem of our time.Sleep is necessary for a wide range of functions that serve our health and well-being.”says Colin Espie,a professor of sleep medicine at the University of Oxford.Yet surprisingly,Walker says technology itself may hold the answer to control our sleep. There are already many devices on the market that claim to monitor and aid people in sleeping. And Walker hopes to use machine-learning technology to produce new ways to help those who are not sleeping properly.
