This leaflet aims to help you assess health and safety risks inthe workplace

A risk assessment is an important step in protecting your workers and your business, as well as complying with the law.
风险评价是用于既保护工人和公司同时又遵守法律的一项重要的措施。
It helps you focus on the risks that really matter in your workplace –the ones with the potential to cause real harm.
它有助于你关注工作场所中与你真正相关的风险,这些风险具有引起实际伤害的潜在性。
In many instances, straightforward measures can readily control risks, for example ensuring spillages are cleaned up promptly so people do not slip, or cupboard drawers are kept closed to ensure people do not trip.
许多情况下,直接措施能够真正的控制风险,例如,确保及时清理溢出物防止人员滑到,或者关闭食橱的抽屉确保人员不被绊倒。
For most, that means simple, cheap and effective measures to ensure your most valuable asset – your workforce – is protected.

The law does not expect you to eliminate all risk, but you are required to protect people as far as ‘reasonably practicable’. 法律不期望消除所有的风险,但是在适当可行的情况下进行人员保护是必须的。
This guide tells you how to achieve that with a minimum of fuss. 这个指南告诉你如何在最小的工作投入下达到上述目的。
This is not the only way to do a risk assessment, there are other methods that work well, particularly for more complex risks and circumstances.

However, we believe this method is the most straightforward for most organisations.

A risk assessment is simply a careful examination of what, in your work, could
cause harm to people, so that you can weigh up whether you have taken enough
precautions or should do more to prevent harm.
简单地说风险评估就是对工作中能够引起人员伤害的要素的细致检查,以便你能够估量出你是否已经有足够的警惕或者应该进一步组织伤害。
Workers and others have a right to be protected from harm caused by a failure to take reasonable control measures.
工人和其他人对于故障引起的伤害,有采取合理的控制措施进行保护的权力。
Accidents and ill health can ruin lives and affect your business too if output is lost,
machinery is damaged, insurance costs increase or you have to go to court. You
are legally required to assess the risks in your workplace so that you put in place a
plan to control the risks.
如果输出丢失,事故和不健康能够毁灭生命和影响你的商业,机械损坏,保险费增加,或者你必须诉讼。法律要求你要评估工作场所的风险,所以必须做一个合适的控制风险的计划。

Don’t overcomplicate the process. In many organisations, the risks are well known
and the necessary control measures are easy to apply.
