Unit 5 MusicHave you ever wanted to be part of a band as a famous singer or musician? Do you sing karaoke and pretend you are a famous singer like Song Zuying or Liu Huan? To be honest, a lot of people attach great importance to becoming rich and famous. But just how do people form a band?Many musicians meet and form a band because they like to write and play their own music. They may start as a group of high-school students, for whom practising their music in someone’s house is the first step to fame. Sometimes they may play to passers-by in the street or subway so that they can earn some extra money for themselves or to pay for their instruments. Later they may give performances in pubs or clubs, for which they are paid in cash. Of course they hope to make records in a studio and sell millions of copies to become millionaires!However, there was one band that started in a different way. It was called the Monkees and began as a TV show. The musicians were to play jokes on each other as well as play music, most of which was based loosely on the Beatles. The TV organizers had planned to find four musicians who could act as well as sing. They put an advertisement in a newspaper looking for rock musicians, but they could only find one who was good enough. They had to use actors for the other three members of the band.As some of these actors could not sing well enough, they had to rely on other musicians to help them. So during the broadcasts they just pretended to sing. Anyhow their performances were humorous enough to be copied by other groups. They were so popular that their fans formed clubs in order to get more familiar with them. Each week on TV, the Monkees would play and sing songs written by other musicians. However, after a year or so in which they became more serious about their work, the Monkees started to play and sing their own songs like a real band. Then they produced their own records and started touring and playing their own music. In the USA they became even more popular than the Beatles and sold even more records. The band broke up about 1970, but happily they reunited in the mid-1980s. They produced a new record in 1996, with which they celebrated their former time as a real band.FREDDY THE FROG(II)Not long after Freddy and the band became famous, they visited Britain on a brief tour. Fans showed their devotion by waiting for hours to get tickets for their concerts. Freddy was now quite confident when he went into a concert hall. He enjoyed singing and all the congratulations afterwards! His most exciting invitation was to perform on a TV programme called “Top of the Pops.” He had to go to London, wear an expensive suit and give a performance to a TV camera. It felt very strange. But as soon as the programme was over, the telephones which were in the same room started ringing. Everybody was asking when they could see Freddy and his band again. They were truly stars.Then things went wrong. Freddy and his band could not go out anywhere without being followed. Even when they wore sunglasses or beards people recognized them. Fans found them even when they went into the toilet. They tried to hide in the reading rooms of libraries, but it was useless. Someone was always there! Their personal life was regularly discussed by people who did not know them but talked as if they were close friends. At last feeling very upset and sensitive, Freddy and his band realized that they must leave the country before it became too painful for them. So they left Britain, to which they were never to return, and went back to the lake.。

“热身”(Warming up)部分介绍了多种多样的音乐形式,“阅读”(Reading)部分介绍了美国著名的乐队“The Monkees”(门基组合)的诞生极其发展历程,在“语言应用”(Using Languange)部分又安排了一篇青蛙乐队的故事,目的是让学生进一步感受一只乐队的成功及成名的烦恼。

每当谈论音乐时,大部分学生都会狭义的理解为流行音乐,他们对流行歌手和组合及他们演唱的歌曲和音乐十分熟悉,且极为感兴趣。

新课标的理念是以人为本,教师在课堂上要激发学生的兴趣,充分调动学生的积极性,创设一个宽松的学习氛围,给他们一个充分展示个人才能的机会,使学生在和谐、民主的学习环境中学会合作学习。

基于上述原因,我利用多媒体课件容量大的特点对本单元的第一课时作了如下设计:一:上课伊始,我利用学生对流行音乐熟悉和痴迷的特点让他们听几位流行歌手演唱的歌曲,让他们说出歌手和歌曲的名字,激发他们的兴趣,调动他们参与的积极性,使课堂气氛立刻活跃起来。

二:接下来让他们以小组的形式来讨论古今中外的歌手、音乐家和他们演唱的作品,使学生更多地了解90年代以前中国的许多音乐家及知名的歌手。

三:为了使课堂气氛达到高潮,给学生一个充分展示个人才能的机会,我请一些有特长的学生演唱他们喜爱的歌曲和乐器,让学生对常见乐器和乐器的名称有个大概的了解。

四:接下来让他们观看中国知名乐队“零点乐队”的演奏,从而引出其他乐队和“The Beatles”(甲克虫乐队),为下节课学习了解“The Monkees”(门基组合乐队)的诞生极其发展历程打下基础。

Now I spend three weeks out of every month traveling and have over 464000 fans following me online. I've got to know more about this country and its people.2. I first visited Western Australia for work in 2013. I fell in love with northern W A and have been back six times. Some of my favorite photographs were taken there. I have made over 140 work trips, but my best work trip ever was to Broome in the Kimberley region.3. It is extremely beautiful and you can experience the indigenous Australia there more than anywhere else. The Kimberley region, inparticular, is unique and untouched. As a photographer, I love the bright light and amazing colors: red rocks, green plants, blue green waters and blue skies.4. To work full time in trouble, you have to love nature. I try to take every opportunity to get outside and admire the natural world. I love to photograph the rising sun, so I force myself into the natural world by waking early every day. We started from Vancouver, where we picked up our vehicle for the trip- a home on wheels. It took us where we wanted, when we wanted. Dad did the driving, but he has a poor sense of direction.
