L:Later,Why are you so down?What’s wrong with you?

X:Nothing, I just feel a little stressful about the coming exams and competitions. My time was occupied by unfinishing missions all the time. Since I came to the university,I cannot get used to the kind of freedom here.

L:You mean nobody is going to wake us up in the morning or force us to attend lectures any more like senior school. Right?

X:Part of it, It’s so different from my former life.The sense of inferiorit comes to me many times since I could make good performances as you and the others always do. I mean you are so energetic and handle everything so well. It seems that I am a little stupid and clumsy.

L:Oh that’s actually not true,you are too negative. Look, you are good with logic and like to find the answers to problems using reasons. Obviously, you are really number smart and nature smart. Y ou have your own special merit. The problem is not about your intelligence but your thinking styles. You must change your attutide towards life right now.

X:Really? Could you tell me what kind of thinking styles do you use most?Or could you share some of your learning skills with me?

L:Sure, the moment when you came to the university,you should realize that you learning is your own responsibility and you

have to organize your time well. And never forget to think for yourself.

X:Think for yourself? What does it mean?

L:It means thinking of something on your own without being affected by other people. That is, thinking independently. The most difficult thing is to avoid others’ influence because we live in many circles and many people will inculcate their ideas to us.

X:Yep, for example, we are asked to work out a difficult question by math teacher and we work hard but it doesn’t work. At this moment, many people will turn to their classmates or parents. Few students will insist on thinking for themselves although they know that thinking for themselves can help them make progress and develop the habit of thinking independently.

L:Good example.We always lack of strong mind so we tend to turn to others when we face difficulties.Further more, do you know what kind of learning style you are?

X:Not exactly. But as you mentioned, I think I can learn best from new experiences,genertating ideas and trying things out.And I think group work and discussions suit me better than passive activities. L:So your are actually an activist. Don’t waste your talent. Try to be more inpendent and confident.
