We also recommend to install an Atlas Copco refrigeration type air dryer.■Use a separate air filter which removes solid particles larger than 30 microns and more than 90% ofliquid water. Install the filter as close as possible to the product and prior to any other air preparation units to avoid pressure drop. For impulse/impact tools make sure to use lubricators adjusted for these tools. Regular lubricators will add too much oil and therefore decrease the tool performance due to too much oil in the motor.Make sure that the hose and couplings are clean and free from dust before connecting to the tool. Both lubricated and lubrication free products will benefit from a small quantity of oil supplied from a lu-bricator.Compressed Air ConnectionWARNING Risk of severe injury Air under pressure can cause injury.►Always shut off the air supply when not in use or before any adjustments.►Drain the hose of air pressure and disconnect the tool from air supply when not in use or before any adjustments.►Always use the correct hose size and air pressure for the tool.WARNING Compressed AirHigh air pressure can cause severe damage and bodily injury.►Do not exceed maximum air pressure.►Make sure that there are no damaged or loose hoses or fittings. For correct air pressure and hose size, see the Technical Product Data on - https:// or .Make sure that the hose and couplings are clean and free from dust before connecting to the tool.PZB15-L-AR500-11EN Installation© Atlas Copco Industrial Technique AB - 9839 2144 019Shaft Load DiagramShaft Load■Make sure that the maximum shaft load is not exceeded, in order to prevent an excessive increase ofthe bearing temperature.Installation InstructionsConnecting the Air SupplyWhen the compressed air supply is connected to the inlet, the direction of rotation will be as shown in the figure below. If the exhaust air is to be piped away, a hose should be connected to the exhaust outlet. The compressed air supply should be connected to the corresponding inlet for desired rotation direction, see figure below. The inlet that is not in use, functions as a main outlet and must not be plugged.Ais for ventilation only and must not be plugged.Installation EN PZB15-L-AR500-1110© Atlas Copco Industrial Technique AB - 9839 2144 01PZB15-L-AR500-11EN OperationErgonomic GuidelinesConsider your workstation as you read through this list of general ergonomic guidelines and see if you canidentify areas for improvement in posture, component placement, or work environment.■Take frequent breaks and change work positions frequently.■Adapt the work area to your needs and the work task.■Adjust for convenient reach range by determining where parts or tools should be located to avoid static load.■Use workstation equipment such as tables and chairs appropriate for the work task.■Avoid work positions above shoulder level or with static holding during assembly operations.■When working above shoulder level, reduce the load on the static muscles by reducing the weight of the load. You can also reduce the load on the static muscles by holding the load close to thebody.■Make sure to take frequent breaks.■Avoid extreme arm or wrist postures, particularly for operations requiring a degree of force.■Adjust for convenient field of vision by minimizing movement of the eyes and head during the work task.■Use the appropriate lighting for the work task.■Use ear protection equipment in noisy environments.■Use dust extraction system or mouth protection mask in dusty environments.Operating InstructionsHot SpotsThe following hot spots on the motor can reach high temperatures during operation.■Seal ring at the output shaft■CasingThe highest temperatures occur when the motor is running at maximum allowed speed. With increasingtorque, the air motor reduces the rotational speed and the temperature.Keep below the Maximum Free Speed, see marking on the product or the product specific Safety In-formation.© Atlas Copco Industrial Technique AB - 9839 2144 0111Operation EN PZB15-L-AR500-1112© Atlas Copco Industrial Technique AB - 9839 2144 01PZB15-L-AR500-11EN ServiceMaintenance InstructionsService RecommendationsPreventive maintenance is recommended at regular intervals. Atlas Copco-designed energy recovery systems enable the recovery of most of this heat. Recovery of energy from the shaft input of the compressor can be up to 94% of the compressor shaft power.WHY RECOVER ENERGY?Energy costs can constitute 80% of the total costs of compressed air production. With rising energy prices, saving energy also means a substantial cost saving .With global warming, Kyoto directives and the gradual depletion of traditional energy sources, every business has a duty to contribute as much as possible to overall energy conservation .HOW IS THE ENERGY RECOVERED?Energy recovery systems are integrated modules that recover heat which is otherwise wasted. The heat in the form of hot water (85-90 °C) is directly usable as a source of energy. The main module of the recovery system is built into the compressor.Shaft power100 %Radiant losses2 %Remaining heat in compressed airJul 04 Oct 04 Jan 05 Apr 05 Jul 05 Oct 05 Jan 06 Apr 06 Jul 06Date0.750.70.650.60.550.50.450.40.350.3P r i c e /l i t e r (€)evolution of the fuel oil prices (example from a european country)Maximize your savings…process water boilerHOW CAN THE RECOVERED ENERGY BE USED?The hot water generated can be put to several uses in the industry:• as preheated boiler feed water for industrial processes • for space heating by circulation in radiators or for showers • for other industrial applications like dyeing textiles, operation of absorption chillers, etc.The hot water produced should be used as an auxiliary source of energy, as the load of the compressor and thus the amount of heat produced may vary.HOW DO I BENEFIT?You save energy wherever energy as an auxiliary source to reduce your operating costs. The investment needed to link the hot oil circuit from the compressor to the existing water circuit is relatively modest and the time needed from your investment is generally very short.ASSUMPTIONS• example chosen is a 160 kW GA compressor• 8,000 running hours/year at full load and full energy recovery• cost of fuel oil: €0.55/l• figures shown are an example.

Try an Atlas Copco pneumatic breaker or hammer and you’ll feel the difference: our well-balanced pneumatic tools offer excellent ergonomics. The two-tooler: downsize for savings Energy-efficient handheld tools allow you to downsize your compressor, or to run several breakers on the same compressor.10Need to get a lot of work done? Tools - Compressor sizing guide One compressor can often run several pneumatic tools at once. The RTEXeven has double the breaking capacity per liter of compressed air comparedto a conventional breaker. This meansyou need a compressor half the size as previously, or you can double up your breakers from the same power source, all at no additional cost.11Compressors with “G” in the name have a built-in generator. Compressors with PACE in their name have an adjustable pressure between 5 bar and the maximum pressure indicated in the product name. For electric compressors, the free air delivery depends on the electric current (16, 32, 50 or 64A). Lightweight, powerful and efficient, this tool is both ergonomic and economic. You’ll be able to work longer while only consuming half the air. As a result, your compressor can also go down a size, or you can pair two tools with one compressor. The secret of the RTEX lies in theinnovative long piston design. A longer piston, compared to a conventional breaker, increases the interaction time with each blow. As a result, the RTEX has the breaking power to match a much heavier breaker.
