The pie chart shows us the proportion of primary energy consumption in the United States and in china in the year of 2011.
The chart indicates that both the United States and China regard energy which include oil, natural gas, coal, nuclear power and renewable sources as motivation to stimulate development of countries. And then a quick glance at the chart, it is conspicuous that energy consumption in America composes balanced, whereas ,China’s is highly lopsided.
The first chart depicts primary energy consumption in the United States. From the picture, we can learn that oil was primary energy consumed in America, accounting for 37%. Besides oil energy, natural gas and coal energy were also indispensable sources, respectively making up 28% and 22%. Finally, as the chart points out ,only 5% nuclear energy and 3% renewable sources (hydroelectric, 3%, other renewable sources,2%) were consumed in America . The second chart reveals primary energy consumption China. Initially, casting our eyes in second chart, we are surprised to find that coal is consumed in such an immense amount in 2011, approximately 70% of all energy consumption. Then as the chart suggests that other four elements merely take up 30%. Among them, there include 18% oil energy, 7% renewable sources (hydroelectric, 6%, other renewable sources,1%),4% natural gas and 1% nuclear energy.
By comparing these two pie charts, in terms of coal consumption ,there is 7o% in china while America, 22%.China far exceeds the United States, almost triple as much as American’s. Key reason leads to this situation is the disparity of developmental levels of these two countries. As a superpower in this age, the United States had already experienced industrial development pattern
where its economy position was enhanced at the expense of traditional natural energy. On the other hand, although
it may be true that China’s comprehensive power
strengthened and it was committing itself to transforming
traditional development path, China was still an
underdeveloped country. As a consequence, there is no
possibility to get rid of manufacture industry path. In the
same vein, the disparity also lies in oil, natural gas and
nuclear energy consumption, China’s percentage of each component is all lower than the United States for America had the advantage of China in prospecting and exploiting
new energy sources. Additionally, individuals had
capability to utilize it with high-efficiency. Finally, we learn
that there are less than 8% renewable energy sources
consumption both in China and the United States,
especially 3% hydroelectric energy composes 3% in
America , which ascribes limitation and inability of human force.
These two pie charts are thought-provoking that it
endeavors to convince its audience that daunting
problems demands counter-measures. As problems
disclosed above, therefore, it is high time for China to
transform its preceding industrial chain which is with immense coal consumption .
