1、人称的转变
1)直接引语中的第一人称随主句主语变 如: He said,“I am very sorry.” ——>He said that he was very sorry. 2)直接引语中的第二人称随主句谓语变 如: “You should be more careful next time,” my father told me. ——> My father told me that I should be more careful the next time.
2、时态的转换 直接引语改为间接引语时,主句中的谓语动词 如果是过去时,从句(即间接引语部分)的谓语动词在时态方 面要作相应的变化,变成过去时范畴的各种时态(实际也是宾 语从句的时态要求),变化如下:

whether引导的从句在句中作动词tell 的直接宾语,是一个间接一般疑问句。

(cf.本课语法)so在这里为代词,代替前面的动词不定式(在to tell himwhether…)。

它一般出现believe, do, expect, hope, say, tell, think, appear等之后:Is it true that John has had an operation?约翰真的动手术了吗?I am afraid so./I believe so./I think so./It seem so.恐怕是真的。

/我相信是真的。

/看来是真的。

(1)following 在这里相当于next,表示“紧接着的”、“其次的”。

教材全解③ alone用作副词时,也可作定语,意为“只有,仅仅”,但必须置于它所修饰的名词或代词之后。

lonely只用作形容词,它在句中既可作定语,也可作表语,表示“孤独的,寂寞的”意思。

该词带有浓厚的感情色彩,具有“渴望得到同伴”的含义,其比较级形式为lonelier。

① lonely用作定语时,意为“孤单的,无伴侣的,无人烟的,荒凉的,偏僻的”等。

eg.At heart, I’m a lonely man. 内心深处我很孤独。

That’s a lonely island. 那是一个荒凉的岛屿。

② lonely 用作表语时,可以表示“孤寂的,寂寞的”意思。
