叠词(reduplicated words) 是常见于中国古典诗词，多用于诗行的首端、尾端，间或用于中间部分，使诗词更具韵律和乐感。但是，汉语中丰富的叠词在英语中并不能意一一找得到绝对的对应词，因此英译时需采取不同的译法。下为古诗词中叠词英译范例：

1.庭院深深深几许？杨柳堆烟，帘幕无常数。（欧阳修《蝶恋花》）

Deep, deep, the courtyard where he is, so deep.

It’s veiled by smoke like willows heap on heap,
