2. aware adj. 知道的；明白的
1) be aware of ----知道/意识到/明白----
She was aware of the fact. But she could not face it yet.
她意识到了这个事实，但她不能够面对它。

I was not aware of the fire. 我没有意识到火。

He was not aware of her presence(出席, 到场) till she spoke to him.
直到她和他讲话，他才知道她到场。

2) be aware + 从句
Everyone was aware that they were in danger.

3.advertise
1) vi. 登广告
I suggest you advertise on TV. 我建议你在电视上做广告
advertise for sb. 登广告招聘某人
The company advertised for a new secretary. 公司登广告招聘一名新秘书。

We should advertise for someone to look after our children.
我们该登个广告聘人来照管孩子们。

2) vt. 为...做广告advertise sth. 为某物做广告
We decided to advertise our new product. 我们决定为我们的新产品做广告。

4. intend vt. 打算；想要；计划
1) intend to do/doing-- 打算做--- intend sb. to do 打算让某人做某事
Today, I intend to finish reading this book. 今天我打算读完这本书。

I intend studying abroad. 我打算出国留学。

He intends his son to manage the company. 他打算让他儿子经营该公司。

2) intend--- for---打算使...成为
intend a child for a doctor 打算让孩子以后行医
3) be intended to do sth.意思是使; 是用来做某事
What he said at the meeting was intended to make us to support his idea.
他在会上说的话意思是让我们支持他的想法。

4) be intended for--- 为----计划或设计
The book is intended for beginners. 本书是为初学者编写的。

The chair was intended for you, but she took it away.
5) had intended to do sth.=intended to have done 本打算做某事
6) intend 后接宾语从句时谓语应用“should do”结构，should 可省略。

类似用法的动词有: suggest ,advise, insist, require, demand, intend, order等We intended that she (should) go. 我们打算让她去。

intention n. 意图，打算
intended adj. 有意的；有计划的，故意的，已订婚的。

5. lie
1) vi. 躺，卧; 保持, 处于（某一位置）(lay, lain, lying)
He was lying in the shade of the tree. 他正躺在树荫下。

She lay down on her bed. 她躺在床上。

The factory lies to the west of town. 工厂在小镇的西边。

The plates lay on the table. 盘子在桌上。

2) vi. 说谎(lied, lying)
I'm sorry I lied to you. 我很抱歉向你撒了谎。

3) lie n. 谎言
Why did you tell me a lie? 你为什么对我撒谎？

6. lay
1) lie的过去式
2) vt. 放置, 铺设, 产(卵), 提出, 平息, 布置(laid, laying)
7. share
1) vt., vi.共用；共有；分摊（常与in连用）
We shared an umbrella in the rain. 在雨中我们合用一把雨伞。

We shared the sweets. 我们分吃了糖果。

They share their joys and sorrows. 他们同甘共苦。

share in sth.分享，分担
She shares in my troubles as well as my joys.
I should share in the cost with you. 我应该和你分担费用。

作“分享，分担”讲时，share in 和share 意义基本相同，
但share in 不能意为“合用”。

share sth with /between/among sb.
He shared the story with us. 他给我们讲了这个故事。

Bill and Bob shared the work equally between them.
比尔和鲍勃两人把工作平分了。

share out 分摊，分配
share out the things fairly 公平分配这些东西

share 还有“具有同样的-----”之意。

9. connect vt., vi.
1）连接；结合；连结（常to, with与连用）
The two cities are connected by a railway. 这两个城市被一条铁路连接。

Will you connect this wire to the television？

If it is built, it will connect Britain to Europe for the first time in history.

10. recommend vt. 推荐；建议
recommend sth. to sb. = recommend sb.sth.向某人推荐某物
recommend sb. to do sth. 建议某人干某事
recommend doing sth. 建议做
recommend that (should do ,should 可省略)
It is/was + recommended that …有人建议…
It is recommended that a new modern hospital (should )be built in rural areas. 人们建议应在农村地区建一所现代化的医院。

注意：recommend, suggest, advise, insist, require, demand, intend ,order 等词所带的宾语从句以及他们对应的名词所带的表语从句，同位语从句，以及它们的过去分词所在的It is/ was + 过去分词+主语从句等结构中的谓语动词必须用should do 形式，should可省略。

11. determine vt. vi.决心；决意
1) determine to do sth. 决定做某事
He determined to go. 他决意要去。

We determined to go to the railway station at once.
我们决定立刻去火车站.
2) determine sb. to do sth.使某人下决心做某事
My mom's encouragement determined me to go on with my study.
我母亲的鼓励使我决心继续学业。

The doct or’s lectur e determined me not to drink and smoke any more.
医生的讲座使我下决心不再喝酒抽烟。

3) determine on/ upon sth. 就某事做出决定
determine on/ upon doing sth. 就做某事做出决定
They determined on an early start. 他们决定早些出发。

I have determined on going to the countryside after graduation.
我已决定毕业后到农村去。

4) determine + 从句
He determined that he (should) go at once. 他决心立刻就走。

He has not determined what he will study. 他还没有决定学什么。

注意：
determine 侧重当时决定的动作，是非延续性动作，不与表示段时间的状语连用。

determined 侧重于有决心的状态，可与表示一段时间的状语连用，其后接that 从句时谓语动词用“ should + 动词原形”。

10. fall for ---fall for sth.: to be tricked

11. play a trick on sb. 捉弄某人
