Everyone has the right to pursue his own happiness. But there are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand people's eyes. Some people say wealth and fame are the best motivation and reward for one’s achievement. But other people argue that it’s the sense of happiness and fulfillment rather than personal gain that is the best motivation and reward. I agree with the latter view.
Happiness is not all about material which means we won't always achieve happiness and fullfillment if we possess wealth and fame. Nowdays happiness and achievement are always measured by external conditions like money, fame, power. But these things will bring you satisfaction for only a short time. When you get used to them you will start to find other satisfactions to fullfill your heart.
Warren Edward Buffett, the one who is regarded as one of the most successful investors in the world, has pledged to give away 99% of his fortune, has given away nearly $23 billion so far. He said that if we put 1% more of the wealth to spend on our own, our happiness and a sense of achievement will not be strengthened. However, the remaining 99% wealth can have a huge effect on the health and well-being of others. Buffett and Gates are also encouraging the world's wealthy to commit to donating at least half of their fortunes to philanthropy during their lifetime or after they die. Aiming to change the world into a better place,
they made a perfect interpretation of what money is and why we make money.
